So I had my s-on and i was using Holics Rom. Then I wanted to flash a new kernel (faux). Then wifi wasent working so im like yeah wipe everything. So i went into recovery and wiped everything in the menu including INTERNAL LOL! So now it just stays stuck at the htc boot. When i try to mount internal so i can try to flash a rom it wont let me it says " E: Cant mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p35(file exists)" and the same with sd-ext but i was able to mount internal sd on to the pc where i saw my nand back up file can i use this to flash everything back thru fastboot? Any solutions to this???
Nm I put the Rom on another sd card and mounted it even though I got an error and it install. Huge relief I was about to give up lol.

Been having problems since flashing a Rogers stock Froyo Kernel yesterday. I made it back to stock but found I couldn't upgrade to any 2.2 ROMs, it seems that the ext4 lagfix was still activated on the Internal SD card and this prevented me from remounting anything on it or formatting. I am now stuck in recovery mode, although it is possible to get into download mode as well. I have access to CWM, and I've been farting around with wiping caches, formatting partitions, etc.
I have attempted everything I can think of to try to flash back to stock, including the Captivate tookbox 2.6 for Rogers, and the Odin 1-Click with the Master Clear option. Nothing seems to work. I get the classic message:
E: Can't mount /dev/block/stl10
(Invalid argument)
E: copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount DBDATA
The real problem seems to be that there is no update.zip on the internal sd card for me to use as a backup to flash back to stock. I am having no luck with the two software packages above, but it seems that if I could push my own backed-up update.zip I made a few days ago to the internal sd, I could get past this.
I need help. Please give me some advice.
Call off the dogs- after I installed the driver package that was included with Odin 1-Click I managed to get a master clear and a flash to the AT&T stock.
I must have spent 3 hours installing different driver packages today.
This has worked for me, depending on how bad the problem is...
Assuming the phone will boot, this will format the internal SD card.

Thanks, I appreciate the reply. I couldn't get past recovery mode, so I couldn't access the dialer. I ended up getting the ODIN 1-click to flash the AT&T stock ROM, then I flashed back to my native Rogers Eclair.
Just in the process of getting Stock Froyo back on the handset.
A little information is a dangerous thing...
Guys,
I dont know what I did but I can no longer do a factory wipe.
CMW says "Error: Can't mount /sd-ext" Ive tried reformatting / repartitioning the sdcard. it just keeps saying cant format.
I tried CWM 2.5.1.2, then i even flashing it again and tried a 3x version of CWM.
I just wanna be able to flash roms again. Please help
ANY HELP / SUGGESTIONS IS APPRECIATED.
Hey, there are a couple of threads that talk about
"Error: Can't mount <something>" ... you should check them out. I also recommend doing a search for "Cant' mount" you will find a lot of threads talking about a related problem.
Here are some, I hope they solve your problem:

good luck.
ive tried all of those
my issue isnt mounting the sd card but rather the sd-ext partition. ive rrad all these threads and tried everything stated.
Also. it seems i have 2 different CWMs. 2.5.1.2 when i flash into recovery from ROM Manager and 3.0.x when i go into recovery manually.....how is this possible and how can i fix this?

you shouldnt need to mount the external sdcard in CWM. you flash things from the internal sdcard
when i try to wipe data to flash a new rom it says
"
Error: Cant mount /sd-ext/
Skipping....
Done
"
im unable to wipe data so im currently unable to flash anything

thats completely normal.
wiping data has nothing to do with flashing anything.
CWM is unable to mount the sd-ext on our phones because it has a different location (sdcard/ex-sdcard) than most phone (mnt/emmc)
My i9305 is routed, and has clockwork mod installed on it, still running the new EE 4.1.2 official rom thought.
Im unable to mount the data partition in clockwork mod which means i cant create any backups of my phone as it fails.
The internal sd card partition wont mount either when i try and intsall a zip from internal sdcard i get cannot mount /emmc.
I think my partitions are messed up and i probably need to reflash a PIT file to get them back in the right place.
Can anyone confirm that this is right?? And if http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1950591 is the corrrect PIT file to use for me?
Thanks
Hey,
which version of cwm do you use?
I only know the emmc error from the 6.0.1.5 touch version in the dev thread.
Dont play with .pit files restore to stock factory reset then use cmw

Thanks for your suggestions; I’ve actually managed to fix it now.
I actually forgot to mention a fact which as it turns out was the reason for my problems.
The device was encrypted and CWM can’t deal with encryption or the encryption would be useless!!
I unencrypted the device and I’m now able to mount both partitions.
Can’t believe I didn’t think of this in the first place and nearly flashed a pit file!!!
When I try to install a zip from the Internal SD card(phone memory) it will not work and fail to install all the time.
Message I get: E: Cant open/emmc/File name(bad) Installation aborted.
The android in the background is looking dead and has a red triangle coming out of its main compartment.
What is the problem that wont let it install?
Are you using cwm? If so it corrupts partitions.....should have switched to twrp
EDIT whoops didn't read that you had CWM.... CWM corrups partitions which is why everyone uses WCX or TWRP recoveries...... You should have switched recoveries

You still can. Flash a new recovery (wcx recommended). Boot to recovery and try to mount whichever storage volume is you fits and windows should prompt you to format, which you'll need to do
Yea we really need to get can removed from xda. The Chinese ported their own version of cwm I wonder if it corrupts too?

Ok i got it on my Vivid the WCX but when I try to use the internal storage it still does not let me install the root. Do I need S-off?
No.. Put your ROM zip on external storage. Boot to wcx recovery and Mount internal storage to your computer and format it. Then reinstall the rom

My Cappy is having some serious issues! It used to run slimROM 4.2 and untill the night that it started illuminating the ceiling of my room with the ATT bootloader logo. I woke up checked it out and... nothing would run. System kept rebooting without end. As I am a somewhat knowledgeable flasher got into recovery mode and flashed my rom again. It went to the ATT bootloaders then it showed the slimROM logo as if it were to load it and then the screen went off. Dead!
I tried Heimdall SamsungCaptivate-SGHi897-UCKB2-Rooted-One-Click without any success.
Last, I tried returning it to stock using ODIN and this is the error message that I get

That's it. I think my /sdcard is dead. Are there any other possibilities and maybe a chance to bring my phone back to life? Please help!!!
I will be generous to anyone who can help.

When you tried Heimdall, did you use a different USB port?
Also, is that quote from Odin/Heimdall? If so, you might wanna try other GB versions (Heimdall UCKF1 worked for me before when Odin KK4 didn't).
Another thing, do you have a external sd? If so, try booting with it in.

I the quote is from Odin. What is extremely weird is that right after i posted this. My phone booted into GB. I then proceeded to see what my storage was doing and it turns out that I am somehow (I am not sure how this happened) i am running of my External SD card. My phone still can't see any internal SD card. Any suggestions?
Should i try to use ROM manager and flash recovery and try a ROM from there?
I am still worried that my Internal SD is not working.

***First of all, don't touch ROM Manager, it doesn't do well with the Captivate.
Custom recovery is flashed through kernels with Odin 1.18 (or 1.17). You simply grab the .tar file and put it in the PDA slot while you phone is in download mode. (On stock GB, you'll want Corn kernel)
Now my guess is that your external sd needs reformat. Backup w/e is on it (same with your internal if you can access it from your pc) and full format it to FAT32. If that alone doesn't fix it, wipe your internal as well.
