Mango is an update for WP7 7.0.xxxx.xx to WP7.5 7.10.7720.68.
which is an update you can get via Zune.
numerous custom ROMs are available in the HD7 WP7 Development forum, here.
all, that i know of, are running Mango and already, at least, Developer Unlocked.
unfortunately, no .CABs can be brought over for WinMo to WP7.

(Newbie) - A couple of questions before flashing my HD

I posted this deep in another thread (a sticky), but I think it fits better as a new topic because it is not specific to that other thread. I'll make a note in the other thread to avoid duplicates.
Okay....
I'm absolutely new to the world of ROMs and SPL, HSPL, SSPL and USPL - but I've been doing my homework today and I've read all of the wiki links more than once.
Before diving into it and making some dumb newbie mistake, I wanted to run a couple of things by you guys.
I have the German o2 ROM 1.14.207.2 (24011) GER.
I don't want the o2 branding, but I still want it in German.
So, I want to flash RUU_BlackStone_HTC_GER_1.14.407.3_Radio_52.49a.25. 26_1.09.25.14_Ship.exe
My understanding is that since these are both stock ROMs (at least I believe they both are, right?), my stock SPL should accept the new ROM without any problems. In other words, I don't need anything like USPL. Am I correct? Or do I actually need USPL because the new ROM is not from my current vendor which is o2?
Based on what I learned reading all the info, this is what I plan to do:
Turn off my phone, remove SIM and MicroSD
Enter boot mode (tricolor screen)
connect phone via usb to WMDC (Vista 32-bit). The settings are set to ALLOW usb connections
Disable my antivirus program
Disable all power saving modes, screensavers etc.
Run the RUU Ship.exe mentioned above as administrator
Follow instructions until device reboots
So now my warranty should still be fine. If I have to send the device in for repair, to I need to put the o2 ROM back on it?
Thanks for your help (and patience) with a newbie that scared to turn his HD into a brick. I think I'll wear diapers while I'm flashing - just in case.
I'll wait for some responses before I tackle the 7 steps above.

No, thats not true at all. For instance you can't flash a WWE Rom over a German Rom, although they are both stock roms. There is a country specific code (CID). The stock SPL is checking this, so its impossible to flash roms coming from another country.
I'm not sure if the stock SPL also checks the vendor/operator, but I guess it does.

You should just try it. The SPL will tell you whether it accepts the rom or not.

First of all you should consider which SPL you want to use. If you really just want to flash this new rom, USPL is good for you, if you are going to change your rom more frequently then HSPL is the way to go.
Instructions on how to use this SPLs are given in the appreciate threads (with many comments of other users), so you should look them up (again).

You warrany is fine, if the operator/vendor gets the device with the rom he shipped it to you (or any official upgrade provided by this operator/vendor). If you flash the official htc german rom, you might loose your warranty.

Read the USPL thread carefully - you have to disable allow usb connections. In vista you will probably find that you will have to downgrade the USB drivers - that is dealt with in Post 69 of the USPL thread - see also post 1 of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291723

yes, I had read that about disabling usb connections. I just thought that if I did not need USPL then I could leave usb connections enabled and try the other german ship.exe rom. Anyway, I think might need to alter the SPL anyway.
THANK YOU ALL for your responses. They were very helpful and it is time for me to get working on it when I get home.
I will post back my results.
Well, everything worked out fine.
I ended having to use USPL because my SPL did not accept the new stock ROM (same language, but different vendor: o2 vs. non-branded).
I did have to downgrade my vista drivers for it to work. I followed all the wiki instructions and had no problems.
Thanks again for the help.

Problem installing HTC HD7 HSPL / RSPL

Hello to all ..
My problem is that here ..
In a few words I wanted to install in my HTC 7392 with node HD7 SPL Bootloader 4.5 and unlocked the rom modified mango ..
but before you do anything, I had to install HSPL / RSPL in my HTC HD7 ..
I downloaded the "DFT_XSPL_WP7FG1"
I followed a guide ..
MAH reached the point of selecting the SPL, the list of the program reached only up to 3.4 ..
so my HD7 being with SPL 4.5 you could not do so I tried to install the 3.4 "I did na bull****" ..
so going forward I get an error in the program where it was impossible to go on ..
So I unplugged the HD7 and I tried to do it again ..
MAH OSPL when I open "volume down and power button" not come out as written, but all I get only one written with the words "SS-BC PD29100 (4k) ..
What has happened? knows someone explain why?
I already tried to do the backup but nothing = (..
What does the spl screen say when your in bootloader?
Sounds like you have the 4.xx version.. If that's the case you need to flash an official nodo rom first. The hspl doesn't support spl's 4.xx yet.

if your Bootloader does indeed only have one thing written on it...
then you have half-bricked your device.
according to cotulla, here, it is impossible to recover such devices.
though...
according to dj.95, here, you can recover your device using the goldcard method.
good luck.

But you have to worry about?
What are the consequences?
Is serious?

you didnt read the instructions that are in giant bold letters all over those threads...you had spl 4.5 and tried to install the hspl. youve unfortunately half bricked your phone and currently it looks like it may NOT be fixable at all. try the gold card method listed above, i havent done it or read the thread but briefly but it looks like it may be a work around. unfortunately tho youre phone is BBQ'd.

Half bricked possibilities
Hi friends. Do you really know anybody, if goldcard, Zune HTC update, JTAG or something another can solve hb problem? I am also in the "warnings late reading ignorants" club from last weak. But, I got a reply from a single "Half Bricked repairing" service near of Central Europe (GSM-TechNix.de): "Dear Sir, HTC 7 Pro is no Supported by JTAG! Sorry we can not help for this Phone." I have a little idea - to replace only internal information about bootloader version (I have no info on tricolore, but 3.2.2250.0 in Settings/about), connect to Zune and replace HTC update, if it is depend by this number. Is it possible? I have unlocked phone with pre-nodo (older backup has deleted by Zune), then HTC debug application or some homebrew features for values writing can work.
(From another forums:
_________
"Just updated my half bricked phone(bootloader problem) via Zune with HTC update for Windows Phone and the bootloader hasn't been fixed, so our only chance is with XTC Clip or DFT to come with a solution
Actually I got the same problem using an HTC Trophy A1 Version."
________
"For now your/our phone(s) are half-bricked. But as soon as a new update is available - including a new Radio Version everything will work fine again. Had the same problem when debranding my phone. After updating to 7932 via Zune everything was fine again - until I applied the leaked Mango Update.
So again - be patient "
________
"If your device is halfbricked you can use the goldcard method to recover your phone. If it's full bricked you need to make a jTag."
________
"Goldcard cannot repair halbricked WP7 phone."
________
). Thanks for replies, sorry for my english. M.

[Q] Bad Zune OTA Update- Bricked.

Both a Q and a warning, as this was a new update.
I've had Mango for about 2 / 3 weeks (delivered through Zune)- yesterday received a notification of an update by HTC (There is chatter that this is the Wifi hotspot update?), which Zune failed to restart my HD7, giving me a bricked device.
Right now the device is powering on, giving one vibration to say hello, and then proceeding to give me 7 vibrations. I can reach both the bootloader and the recovery menu, but neither have been of any help.
This is what my bootloader screen looks like:
Code:
PD29100 SS-BC (4k)
SPL-5.0.2250.1(121000) MNG
MicroP(LED) 0x07
Touch S1(v2.B#1625)
SD SANDISK 15193MB
Partition Info v211v413
CRC is
Code:
BL CRC-0x7E63640E
OS(SI) CRC-0xB7077908
My warning is that I haven't done any ROMing on this device (it's unlocked and unbranded) so far, this was pure OTA- so if anyone gets this update in the next day or so, just be warned.
My concern is these flashing tools don't appear to support SPL v5. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this show on the road? Downgrade the ROM and go from there?
have you tried recovering with Zune back-up?
have you tried flashing a stock Shipped ROM?

Zune backup recquires to be able to go into the mode that Windows Phone Support tools needs, my phone gives the 7 vibrations before then.
Can I flash a stock shipped ROM without using HSPL / RSPL?

error 226? unsure of what exactly that is.
had you tried reflashing?
No, this is the first time I've tried anything other than the OTA updates provided by Zune
Should I put the call through to HTC, or is there a way of taking back my SPL version so I can get a ROM on here? I've got SPL 5, which I can't find anywhere on XDA :S
Holy hell...was just about to get this update yesterday and just like that, decided against it...
Thanx a ton man...its been 2/3 weeks for me too with the Mango update.
Also, have U tried contacting the WP7 support on Twitter, which from my personal experience is quite hopeless and abject. But its also your best bet right now...

In my honest opinion they are quite hopeless. They will answer as if they are obliged to you and they owe you something. Anyways, its a personal experience.
Any luck? Did u hear anything from the (abject) Twitter support team ?
BTW, my update went fine. Finger crossing does help
No reply on anyone from twitter. HTC email support sent me through hard reset instructions, which I've already tried. Should be on the phone with them tomorrow with regards to the issue, will update this thread if there is a way of fixing this.
Had two mates at work whose updates went through fine as well :| Probably worth noting my phone and PC (Zune) region is set to US whilst my ROM is most certainly the SEA one. Maybe something's messed up there.
would out what Error 226 is...
it is a 'file write' error, suggesting the image (.nbh) is bad.
i suggest a redownload.
also, that ROM is now publicly available.
perhaps try flashing that?
link in my signature, as usual.
Thanks for your reply, getting an error similar to this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1263315
Except that makes sense, as my device is actually an SEA one, not a European one. Any idea when the shipped ROM for SEA will be available?

[Q] Help regarding flashing hd7

Im a newbie in the world of Windows phone...
Can anyone help in giving a tutorial regarding how to flash my HTC HD7 with custome ROM's..
What are the requirements required..And the specifications..
Plz help me...
First you have to downgrade your spl to at 3.xxx or below. Then flash rspl or hspl to your device, then you can flash a custom rom! Just follow shadows tutorial here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295068
If you enter into bootloader and post your information back from the screen, can help walk you through it! To enter bootloader, phone off, hold down the volume button and power the phone back on while continuing to hold down the volume down button, this will bring you into bootloader mode a tri colored sreen.

what i sent was after my full update to 7.5...
And you quoted as i requires gold card method...Now how you ae saying it does not require goldcard.... Cann you explain in brief please...
Typically with a spl of 5.xxx or higher you would have to use the Goldcard method. But if you have a pre mango backup you can restore your phone through Zune, connect device to Zune - phone - settings - restore. It will restore your device to before the update, then re update the phone again through Zune like your upgrading to mango again. But this time once the Mango update happens (the phone will reboots twice after the update is applied, once for changing the spl and once for loading Mango) The spl is changed to 4.xxx that's when you stop the update and unplug the phone, you have to do this before the last update is applied which is the 7740/HTC Firmware Update, if you apply that too, it will change your spl to 5.xxx again, so you have to stop after the Mango update and then you can follow shadows tutorial for spl 4.xxx downgrade. Plus it will show you in the update box on the computer what update step it is on, so it's really easy to do! This is the same process that I used to downgrade my spl from 5.xxx to 4.xxx, then I finished using shadows tutorial to do the rest! The whole process took about and hour to fully complete and to have Deepshining rom installed on my device!
Why im not able to jail break my phone..When i run jail breaker, it say's phone is not connect through USB or Zune is not open..Though phone is cnnected through USB and Zune is open..
Should the phone be unlocked for it...Or it will work without unlock...

Are you following the directions and steps that I told you or are you trying to do it with a different method? If so what step are you on?

Make sure your phone is plugged into the computer when trying to get the restore point. Should be select, phone - settings - update (Zune should check for an update and say, no updates availabe) and then there should be a restore button towards the bottom of the update box. If it's not there then you must not have a pre mango backup for it and you will have to use the Goldcard method to do it which is pretty easy once you have the Y cable put together and a sd card reader! Here's a pretty detailed tutorial for the Goldcard method

Then there is no backup i feel, because no restore button is displayed....
I wanted to know without unlocking the phone like mine..Can we do jailbreak....

Hi,hope this is the right place to ask this. I bought this HD7 last week from Ebay and it's current specs are;
Software: Windows 7.5
OS: 7.10.8107.79
Bootloader: 5.11.XXX
Zune is saying there's an update available, haven't updated yet though.
So my question is,I want to install the Deepshining rom,do I do the following;
Flash the NoDo rom as listed in the Q&A section of the Deepshining thread, via bootloader,to downgrade SPL.
Flash RSPL via bootloader, then immediately flash Deepshining rom.
Is it that easy,or am I missing something (or everything !) Have flashed loads of roms on phones in the past with no bother, but this seems dodgy to me as I keep seeing the word 'brick' and that scares me a bit.
Thanks for any light you can shed on this.

Wish it was that easy...lol! Sounds like you understand for the most part, but with the bootloader of 5.xxx there are really only two options for being able to flash a custom rom.
1. A pre-Mango backup/restore point on your p/c. Which since you just got the device won't be a possibility for you.
2. The goldcard/Y cable method. Which is really easy and inexpensive! You can build you own cable or purchase one.
Check out Shadows tutorial, he explains the whole process and steps to flash a custom rom.
