anyone else happen trouble with the screen while its plugged in the labtop?? almost impossible to type anything or scroll up and down....its like as soon as u touch the screen it acts like ur touching it really fast like its super sensitive
I sometimes have that issue if USB mode is enabled. I have had the same issue with each android phone I have had, regardless of model or flavor of android. I didn't think hosting the memory over USB was CPU intensive, but maybe it is. Or, the phone needs that memory to properly cache the ram or something.
I learned quick, when in USB mode leave the phone alone, and if you are transferring a file to or from the phone, sometimes it is basically unresponsive.

i had my phone connected via usb like a mass storage device with OpenRecovery when my pc crashed for god only knows what reason... it seems to coincide with the phone simply DYING, meaning that now it doesnt even turn on, no OR no nothing, the only thing that does work is the charging light when i do plug it in... however that is all i can do.
so did i just break it? if yes - someone shoot me... if no - how do i fix it? i dont care for whatever was on the phone since i just had it all backed up and was about to wipe everything and reinstall a new CM6 version since by mistake i've gotten myself a little older one... anyway. help?
EDIT: on second thought disregard my stupid face, something tells me that while doing nandroid backups and other crap i killed the battery and simply have to charge it, i was able to get back into OR however the phone turned off before i could connect it to the pc, i'll probably turn off panic mode and go sleep on it while the phone is plugged NOT into the pc for charging -.- I would still like to know if my theory is right... etc etc...
OK so i noticed over the course of about 6 days my phones screen would glitch, when i say glitch i mean crazy colors and sometimes just go dark. a reboot would sometimes fix it other times it would take a few reboots. Now the screen doesnt come on at all. I have tried everything. Removing the built in battery for some time, charging, connecting to PC, wiggling the LCD etc etc.
I have about 4 years of pictures and videos on this phone with unfortunately no backups anywhere!!!!
I have got to get them off this phone one way or another.
Is there anyway i can work around a dead screen to copy files from the phones internal memory.
I have ADB, Fastboot, CentOS, Kubuntu, Kali, Winders 7,XP, and 8 to work with here so whatever it might take im down to try anything if anyone has any good ideas. Heck ill even take bad ideas at this point!!! ANYTHING would be better than what i got now.
(i should give a few details. when the phone boots up i hear the "DROID" boot animation sound the soft keys used to light up, the keyboard backlight comes on after sliding the screen out. All with no luck!!!
Please let me know if there is anything i can try here!!
Thanks
Evan Calo
Just 2 options quickly:
1) After the phone boots up, just plug it on a Windows PC through USB. If it recognizes the phone in mass storage mode, you should see the internal and external storage, then you're golden.
2) If that doesn't work, try to plug it on a TV or monitor through HDMI. You can use screen mirroring or webtop to reach the phone interface (if you are on stock ROM). Even if the LCD is bad, the digitizer should work so it recognizes the touch, helps you navigate.
I hope that helps.

Hi Evan, you might want to give this thread a read, it contains the same problem and how I recovered my data from my phone.

Dear All,
I need some help that I could not figure out with this phone (and I thought I hated the Galaxy series...)
1. The phone does not connect to the computer. The computer does not recognize that there's any USB device plugged in, and the phone only warns me to use the proper charger, because it's slow. It does not prompt me to decide how I want to connect to the PC, and I cannot find this option anywhere manually.
It's important, because
2. the phone is full. I set the microSD card as default for all photos, images, software, yet the phone is just full, and the management program cannot help me any more. (There's about 4gb of stuff I cannot decide what it is. It also says there's about 400mb of images on the phone, but when I launch the cleanup app, it only indicated 2 mbs.)
3. The touchscreen is ****. Absolute, utter ****. Sometimes it does not react to touch, sometimes it goes amok, and starts imputting random crap.
Some help would really be appreciated.
Thank you.

Hello spongya77,
Has the phone ever properly connected to the computer with that specific USB cable that you are using? Are you able to charge your phone with that specific USB cable with an AC adapter? Can you post a screenshot of the 4gb of stuff that you cannot decide what it is? Is your touchscreen clean?

No, unfortunately I've never actually connected the phone to the PC yet. (It's fairly new.)
The USB cable is the same as I use with the charger; it should work fine, but I'll switch.
The screen is clean(ish). It might be just a bad, bad touchscreen; the Galaxy models I've been using so far did not require lab sterile fingers and screen to work...
Welcome to the 510. The screen alternates between super sensitive and not at all. Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done about it. When it used locked and in my pocket it's not unknown for the phone to randomly call people, and some messages I write are no where near what I intended.
Hello everyone,
Having major issues with my Idol4S. It is the unlocked version (Cricket). It was working just great until a few days ago when I plugged it into the car charger. Phone instantly shut off, and got stuck with a blinking (rapid) LED light. This happens if plugged into my PC, or my Alcatel charger (both the wall and car).
The phone has suffered no damage (had a cover, but it was never dropped or exposed to external weather damage, nor water - I took great care of it), and was working quite well. I'm unable to boot it into any sort of recovery mode (as the screen is black, so I wouldn't be able to see anything anyways). The only indication of life is the flashing LED when plugged in ..(charging loop, maybe?)
I am using my idol4S Win10 (TMO/unlocked) phone in the meantime, but the base model was working just fine before this happened. I was also mindful of checking voltage/Amps when using chargers, so I would not have exposed it to any incorrect input/output. QuickCharge worked great too (sorely missed on Win10 model).
The phone was never rooted so it has the stock ROM, and whatever the last update Alcatel had pushed out for it. I did have developer mode and USB debugging on for MSVC/NSDK.
Is there anything I can do? After awhile being plugged in, the LED shuts off. I kind of need it as I was porting my game engine to it (using the SDK), plus it was my primary. I love the Win10 version too, but the Android idol4S was my primary phone. Kind of disappointed in Alcatel - I read it doesn't have an external battery otherwise I would attempt to transplant the battery (if that is even the issue). . .
Any tips, advice, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! <3
what you describe is what the phone does when it's plugged into the PC in download mode. Since you have the Cricket version which is also what I have, it is very easy to start from scratch and reflash everything. I have released a newer version TWRP and also have the ~CricketRom~ available if you're interested.

Okay, but would it work even though the phone gives no indication of being plugged in to the computer, or the chargers for it? I plugged it into the PC just now, brief flash of light and then nothing. .
Should mention again that the screen does not turn on, ever since that day, the screen has not came back on -- so I really can't do anything, even accessing 'download mode' does not show anything on-screen, nor does Windows 10 alert me of the USB device being connected.
I wouldn't mind starting from scratch at this point. I'm definitely interested in getting up and running again! It's not like I can do anything else at this point except spend money and get it repaired by TCL.
Would it be rude of me to ask for links to the TWRP/CricketROM from you? Maybe a quick-start guide, I pick up on things easy, but I've never properly flashed with TWRP =)
Also @PizzaG, THANK YOU for your help!! Definitely appreciated <3
Oh! @PizzaG, I also have an older Onetouch Idol 3 that has the _exact_ same symptoms, I wonder if that too could be recovered? ... ^__^
well I guess the first thing to do would be plug it into the PC. Hold volume+ and volume- then hold power until you feel the buzz and let go of power. Hopefully you get the red Download mode screen? I didn't realize it had no life at all, I thought it was just messed up. It's sounding like more may be wrong then just a simple reflash.

Hello everyone,
I've come across an interesting issue I haven't seen before and was wondering if anyone else has seen this happen. I just got my X Fold the other day and was trying to remove the bloatware with adb on my computer. When I plug it in and enable USB debugging, my laptop hard crashes, just immediately black screens. It then takes a couple of attempts of it turning on, then shutting off before I can boot, before I finally comes back to life and is acting normally. I've never seen this before or heard of it happening, anyone have any idea what's going on? I wiped the phone when I got it so it's not like there's some malicious code from the last owner, unless it's built into the system? Although I have a feeling it's something more mundane like an incompatible driver.
Update: I've discovered my USB ports no longer transmit data. All of them can input/output power, but anything with data like a USB drive or my Ethernet adapter don't work. This is really odd...
Hello, how can I add the question hashtag in the name like you?
