Whos getting the Thrill 4G?
I think I may get it. This phone is great and all but GPS blows because of the mfg defect of the back GPS antenna not making contact. This proved a huge pain in the arse Friday when I actually had to use the navigation. In order for it to work correctly I had to keep my finger firmly pressed on the antenna...

Now I'm thinking the galaxy s2 released Monday is a better choice.

The Thrill is my AT&T company phone, I'm an employee, and the battery life is ABYSMAL! If you thought the Inspire was bad, wait til that one comes out. Trust me, don't do it. Trying to setup my Exchange email, battery dropped from 93 to 79 in about 10 minutes of me fiddling with it. All on "4G".

The thrill is a nice phone to an extent. I am not a huge fan of the 3D screen on it but the 3D camera is kinda of cool. I would still rather have a samsung or htc device. I was playing with one for a few days but wasnt a huge fan.

Really? This (http://www.bgr.com/2011/08/17/lg-thrill-4g-review/) and a few others I've read says it's shipping with 2.2 with a promised 2.3 update from ATT. nothing about ICS
1ghz dual core is cool, but only 512mb RAM? running froyo? this doesn't exactly seem like a step forward. and if the battery life is really as abysmal as stated previously, it won't be something i'm interested in

My wife and I get our upgrades in December and have already decided which ones we are gonna get. My wife will be getting the LG Thrill. I will be getting the HTC Holiday/Inspire HD/Raider, whichever it gets decided to be called after it finally gets at least announced.

I have already ordered my Thrill 4G from radioshack acouple of weeks ago... supposed to be out this week (sept 4th) now with Gingerbread pre-installed... fingers crossed!!!
my heart isnt set on the 3d asspect... it is the fact that is a dual core dual ram dual channel device... for 79.99 at radioshack and target!!!
thats a good deal... throw a custom rom on there with some optimizations..and there ya go!!!
i am a Samsung junkie i had only one other lg smartphone before... lg incite.. wm 6.1 SUCKED BALLS perfomance wise till i put custom rom on..
actually it was a tough little device.. basically unbrickable.
so if i dont like the lg thrill and really think it isnt worth it... i will take it back and i will get the Infuse... my friend has one that i put a nice rom on and it blows everyphone i have ever played with out of the water...
i love the AMOLED screen and the weight and "slimness"...
anywho,
Good Luck to me... gonna get it Sunday.

From what I've read about the Optimus 3D, even though it has only 512 of RAM, because of the RAM being dual channel it is still suprisingly not laggy, if at all. Yes, it would be smooth as hell if it had more, but reviews have said that 512 of dual channel RAM is not too much of a drawback.

It might be just me but the 3D gives me a headache.
News on the thrill...
Radioshack confirmed today... delays were originally due to the noted screen defect on several devices... secondly getting a manufacturing deal with corning... the makers of gorilla glass... they were supposed to get a deal... looked like they lost it... were considering raising the price... they worked it out and all is well... they also confirmed it will ship with gingerbread update installed....
Congrats to all those patient enough to wait!!!

I guarantee that when the gingerbread or icecream sandwich update comes out development will pick up. What we really need right now is a way to get our radio compatible with optimus 3d roms. There's a lot of development for that phone which is identical except for the fact it doesn't support all the same basebands. Its roms work for the Thrill except no 4g and no mms. They have a cyanogenmod project going too.
EDIT: maybe getting some bounties going would help...

I'm not disappointed due to lack of support, as it's a new phone without a lot of hype. I'm REALLY disappointed with the quality control LG is putting out there. I really wanted to like the Optimus 2X/G2X, but they had awful QC. I figured they'd fix it for the 3D, but sure enough, mine is going right back to Amazon for an exchange. 5 hours of battery while idle and a touch screen that's all over the place doesn't instill confidence, nor does the constant rebooting. Everything about this phone screams "PLACEHOLDER!", and it's a shame because it's a solid phone that FEELS great.
So over decided I'm going to take my LG Thrill back for the Infuse. The LG build is terrible, the 3D is a gimmick, the battery life is horrible, and I can't stand 2.2.2 with no new roms. And the LCD Display. The Infuse wins and has an LG Thrill. Sorry guys. I'm out. Thank you for everyone that has helped me in the past. Goodbye.
Sent from my LG-P925 using XDA App
The Infuse is awesome, but wait till tomorrow and get the GS2. The Infuse development is going downhill FAST, all the devs are moving to the GS2.

id say keep the thrill. i have mine and at one point i started hating it. but dam its amazing now. i was throwing it between the infuse and thrill too. in the end its the exact same thing except it has 3d and the dual stuff. plus right now my thrill is soooo fast compared to how fast it was b4 when i did some things to it. battery life is decent. unless ur completely addicted to it, sitting in the closet and paying with it 24/7, the battery life is fine. especially if u order the longer lasting battery.
I think I'm going to keep it now, flashed the Thriller rom and now it seems that I'm fine.

Hey guys, pretty straight forward.
Just to let you know, I really don't want an HTC one x, or any other phone with poor battery life.
Things that matter:
Screen size: 4in+
Processor
Camera quality
HARDWARE in general
Overall feel of the phone in your hand
I would prefer the least amount of plastic on the phone as possible.
Thanks guys

Do you have a carrier preference? Are you wanting to stay with VZW?
HTC EVO 4G LTE.
Outstanding battery life.
16GB internal storage and a micro sd slot.
Blazing fast processor.
It feels solid as a rock.
It has the best screen of any phone I have ever used, 4.7 inch.
The camera on this phone is phenomenal. Here is a thread with pics from it.
All in all this is the best phone I have ever owned.
The evo 4G is very intriguing.
As far as carrier, I don't care at all.
So far the phones in the race are:
Sony xperia ion
HTC evo 4g
Samsung galaxy s3
These are just so far. Feel free to offer any handset as a suggestion. I'll put up a poll when I get into the preliminaries.

I'm jelly of ya'll that have more than one carrier with service in your area.
Does the Nexus not even get a honorable mention simply because it gets the newest Android versions before any other phones? I agree that there is better hardware on the market, but I love showing off all the new features before anyone else gets them. My buddy just posted on fb how he got ICS on his RAZR, I replied "It can't do a barrel roll." Its fun to be smug about firmware lol.
I got my hands on a SGSIII and I liked it allot, big good looking screen, felt good in my hand, fast and smooth. I rooted it and gave it back to my buddy. Plus the Galaxy S phones have good development so you wont be waiting too much longer than Nexus for custom ROMs and such..
The nexus was in the running, but the camera threw it out for me.
Sent from my R800x using xda app-developers app
If you want to be certain you'll get 1st party updates without waiting them definitely Galaxy Nexus. The camera, however, isn't too good.
Personal suggestion is S2. I haven't found one con from this phone, it's fast,I like its screen,a lot of development here, camera is excellent. It also packs a 1 6GB flash memory and a micro SD slot.

Some reasons i can think of why you should stick to the O2x:
* 3D seems exciting and fun at the start, but later it gets boring and not practically an extra feature in the long run (IMHO)
* The Camera is better in O2x
*O2x Weighs lesser and is slimmer and more compact
*O2x Screen is slightly smaller but i guess better quality
*Much better dev scene here, O3D doesnt have a single ICS ROM, while we are close to getting JB (seems so)
*About the O3D's GPU being better, the difference is quite small.
Very demanding games will lag on both, and moderate to demanding games should run similarly on both.
Just my two cents

Yeah i know about 3D. Got 3D cinema next to my flat , my old galaxy S is getting 13-14 fps in taiji benchmark vs rough 8 for o2x. So it should be only better for p920.
Yeah i have looked in the p920 forum and i dont know why there is no ics for it.. omap have their sources open afaik.
Anyway i think i would go for the deal. No CAF in o2x is a letdown.

I know optimus 3d has worse software bugs than our 2x... And ics will be released later
We dont have ics because LG wont give us source code for 3D.And the way i see it, its stupid to have O3D without 3D.We will get ICS next month i think, LG testing it right now.My brother whants to buy 2X so i came here to see does 2X have good comunity, and i found my answer, thx.

The o2x is a better phone, i'd pick it even only for the better camera.
Yet you shouldn't stay on LG. Get apple, nokia, s3...the world is free!
I even wonder who wants o2x. I've been trying to get rid of it, but everyone checking on the internetz, and seeing there are problems with getting ICS, no one wants it..

Hi,
I agree completely with you, after 18 months with my 2x I decided to get the 3D. I know, it's an old model, but I became a good offer from my operator and compared it with other prices in the market for similar devices and I finally decided me for it. It's still a very good phone. For me, it was the best choice and i don't regret it. After updating to V21e all the prior problems, like ghost calls, are solved. The phone is easely rootable and there are a few custom roms that work great, no mention cm 7.2 that works great too, but hasn't all the 3d stuff.
Pros of phone are a very good construction, nice screen, I personally don't like the oversaturated amoled screen. I have to say that the IPS screen of the 2x is still better representing colors but at this point i'm not dissapointed with the 3d's one.Veryt very very smooth, nothing to envy with other double core phones.
xtrustkillx good investion in my opinion.
