Has anyone successfully flashed an HD7 rom on an HD7s?
I imagine that one would have to remove the radio nbh otherwise I'd guess it would be an instant brick, but am not sure whether if one were to flash an HD7 rom and the device didnt work whether you'd still be able to hit up HSPL to recover an original HD7s rom (ie the Cingular NoDo rom that's floating about).
I picked up an HD7s for cheap but as it's my only phone (HD2 died) I'm not brave enough to flash something in case I cant revert back...
I'm also keen to find out whether the HD7s radio rom can be hacked to allow 3G frequencies other than AT&T's 1900mhz or whether that is a physical limitation of the radio chip used.
Mark
i don't own an HD7S...
but i have flashed the AT&T RUU, with OS, Radio, and SPL onto my HD7.
the flash was successful and had no problems.
actually, i had flashed every Shipped/Test ROM you see on the XDA Wiki HD7 pages.
and, unfortunately, it can't be hacked to enable additional 3G frequencies.
it is a hardware limitation.

Cool, let us know how you get on... I'd be interested if you successfully flashed the DFT Mango w/ unlock... would give me the confidence to try on mine
Wish I could backup my apps though, am 20.4% of the way through Alchemic Phone 7...

i assume for Internet Sharing? why not just RSPL then flash a Custom ROM? in other words, yes, the update will replace your HD7S' Bootloader with 5.x and then you wouldn't be able to go back to Shipped ROM until a 'fix' comes.

AT&T HD7S in UK
***Just realised this should probably be in Q&A section but I can't move it. Sorry!***
I've just bought a AT&T HD7S off ebay from a US seller and I'm in the UK. It's not until just now that I considered how it might perform in the UK. I see that the AT&T HD7S lists HSDPA: 850/1900 MHz as its 3g frequencies, while the UK HD7 lists HSPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz. Does this mean I won't be able to get 3g signal on UK networks? Does anybody have experience using a AT&T HD7S in the UK?
Update: The HTC Help & How To page lists the following:
What bands does my device support?
GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
HSDPA/UMTS: 850/1900/1700(AWS)/1900/2100 MHz
But the Tech Specs page shows this:
UMTS: 1900/850
GSM/GPRS/AT&T: 850/900/1800/1900MHz
So I wonder if the phone actually supports 2100 MHz
And if so, since O2 HSDPA/3G in the UK runs on 900/2100 does this mean that the phone will still get 3G on 2100 MHz, but won't benefit from the 900 MHz band which enables coverage in harder to reach locations.
Secondly, should I only flash AT&T Radios on to this phone or can I flash the Europe modem found here forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_HD7/Radios ? Might doing so enable the 2100 MHz band which isn't used by AT&T ?

You can always call your phone carrier for your unlock code why pay money when -- in america anyway -- its your right to have an unlock code. Providing you paid full price for your phone. T-Mobile gives you your code usually withing 24 hours maybe the next business days over weekends. Please before you pay anyone money for an unlock code CALL YOUR CARRIER

Well I would -- that is if you have at n t in the area they should have t-mobile in the area too -- that is if you know someone with t-mobile -- ask them to request the unlock code. now i dont know where you would have bought a branded t-mobile phone but hopefully you got a real sweet deal like 99 dollars because the person probably got it free with a contract renewal.
having worked with T-Mobile I would usually submit request if you have had service with us for over 90 days. so ask around maybe someone you know will do that for you. but in the event that you are unable get code than pay for it .. but shop around look deep you may just find a program that can do it for you .

In other words, I "unlocked the bands" by RSD a ROM that was pretty heavily customized for China Telecom:

I can answer to question 1 that AT&T's 3G works, that's the whole point of flashing this ROM, but as I said, the ROM was very heavily customized for China mobile, even though English is available as an option, I did it just for testing purpose, I probably don't want to use the phone on a daily basis with this ROM.
For question 2, I don't know as I have no accounts with Verizon. Sorry.

I have not try this so I could not answer your question. Sorry. However, whenever you said "unlocked", it applies to the GSM portion, which I couldn't think of why the stock ROM would re-lock the GSM portion. But again, I don't know.

1. You need a phone with a Qualcomm processor that has been rooted.
2. Root
3. Custom ROM & kernel. Kernel has anti-tamper code removed if it is custom. Cm11+arc or Phoenix+kernel work.

You should be able to enable the appropriate LTE bands based on the directions in the 1st post. You will need to ensure your phone is unlocked though so that it can move to other carriers beforehand.

I might be able to obtain a custom kernel for SM-G906K that blocks the security measures and enables tampering with the modem but there's little that can be done if you're not prepared to follow the steps as described above. If you try but stuck at some point then help will be provided.
There isn't an app that would do it for you unfortunately.

Awesome consolidated information in the first post. The one item that confused me (and it just may not be publicly known) is what downsides exist for exposing more LTE bands. I would think there should be some battery impact as more frequency scans need to be done but just wanted to check and see if there were any other downsides from just opening all frequencies.
Thanks!

Thanks for this awesome guide!
I'd like to stay on the stock rom though - is it possible to switch back to stock after doing this? Might it even be possible to just change the kernel to do all this? I guess there's no way to do it without tripping knox, right?
i was able to add all lte bands with a tw rom. i havent messed with the 2g/3g bands, but adding lte was pretty simple since its decimal in nv memory spot 6828.
