thanks guys. i just want the community to have this information available. i've been hoping carriers would include all frequencies when they released phones since my first sony ericcson that didn't have 3G in the USA but did in europe. Hopefully we can make our devices completely globally valuable.
I was looking for this info as I own a SM-G9008V that has only few LTE and 3G bands enabled as it is bounded to a specific network in China. Thank to the original poster as I really needed this and hope it will be kept here.
I have htc one m8 verizon and i want to open 1800Mhz band (lte) , this guide work on my phone?

You could damage your phone by flashing a rom

Compiled all information I could find via google search. It will be formatted better later and if you add bands for your country please reply with the needed nv edits for your country/carriers.
Step by step guide
1. You need a phone with a Qualcomm processor that has been rooted.
2. Root
3. Custom ROM & kernel. Kernel has anti-tamper code removed if it is custom. Cm11+arc or Phoenix+kernel work.

Hi, cheers for the effort, looks very thorough. I'd love to try that on my S5 SM-G906K soon but unfortunately there ain't custom kernels yet for this model.
Please can you outline what possible effect might be of following the steps on a stock kernel?
Are we talking possible brick or just, say, changes won't stick?
Hi guys,
Thanks for this guide.
I live in France and I want to buy the SM-G906s/k from Korea but in France the lte bands are 800,1800,2600 Mhz. I would like to know if it possible to unlock this band ?
Sorry for my bad english
Many thanks to the OP, really helps having all this info in one post

You should be able to enable the appropriate LTE bands based on the directions in the 1st post. You will need to ensure your phone is unlocked though so that it can move to other carriers beforehand.

I might be able to obtain a custom kernel for SM-G906K that blocks the security measures and enables tampering with the modem but there's little that can be done if you're not prepared to follow the steps as described above. If you try but stuck at some point then help will be provided.
There isn't an app that would do it for you unfortunately.

Awesome consolidated information in the first post. The one item that confused me (and it just may not be publicly known) is what downsides exist for exposing more LTE bands. I would think there should be some battery impact as more frequency scans need to be done but just wanted to check and see if there were any other downsides from just opening all frequencies.
Thanks!

when i get my phone and do this i will update the OP with better steps. at this time i haven't done this on a g900f but i have on other devices from cdma days.
Thanks for this awesome guide!
I'd like to stay on the stock rom though - is it possible to switch back to stock after doing this? Might it even be possible to just change the kernel to do all this? I guess there's no way to do it without tripping knox, right?
i was able to add all lte bands with a tw rom. i havent messed with the 2g/3g bands, but adding lte was pretty simple since its decimal in nv memory spot 6828.

Has anyone successfully flashed an HD7 rom on an HD7s?
I imagine that one would have to remove the radio nbh otherwise I'd guess it would be an instant brick, but am not sure whether if one were to flash an HD7 rom and the device didnt work whether you'd still be able to hit up HSPL to recover an original HD7s rom (ie the Cingular NoDo rom that's floating about).
I picked up an HD7s for cheap but as it's my only phone (HD2 died) I'm not brave enough to flash something in case I cant revert back...
I'm also keen to find out whether the HD7s radio rom can be hacked to allow 3G frequencies other than AT&T's 1900mhz or whether that is a physical limitation of the radio chip used.
Mark
i don't own an HD7S...
but i have flashed the AT&T RUU, with OS, Radio, and SPL onto my HD7.
the flash was successful and had no problems.
actually, i had flashed every Shipped/Test ROM you see on the XDA Wiki HD7 pages.
and, unfortunately, it can't be hacked to enable additional 3G frequencies.
it is a hardware limitation.

i assume for Internet Sharing? why not just RSPL then flash a Custom ROM? in other words, yes, the update will replace your HD7S' Bootloader with 5.x and then you wouldn't be able to go back to Shipped ROM until a 'fix' comes.

AT&T HD7S in UK
***Just realised this should probably be in Q&A section but I can't move it. Sorry!***
I've just bought a AT&T HD7S off ebay from a US seller and I'm in the UK. It's not until just now that I considered how it might perform in the UK. I see that the AT&T HD7S lists HSDPA: 850/1900 MHz as its 3g frequencies, while the UK HD7 lists HSPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz. Does this mean I won't be able to get 3g signal on UK networks? Does anybody have experience using a AT&T HD7S in the UK?
Update: The HTC Help & How To page lists the following:
What bands does my device support?
GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
HSDPA/UMTS: 850/1900/1700(AWS)/1900/2100 MHz
But the Tech Specs page shows this:
UMTS: 1900/850
GSM/GPRS/AT&T: 850/900/1800/1900MHz
So I wonder if the phone actually supports 2100 MHz
And if so, since O2 HSDPA/3G in the UK runs on 900/2100 does this mean that the phone will still get 3G on 2100 MHz, but won't benefit from the 900 MHz band which enables coverage in harder to reach locations.
Secondly, should I only flash AT&T Radios on to this phone or can I flash the Europe modem found here forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_HD7/Radios ? Might doing so enable the 2100 MHz band which isn't used by AT&T ?
In other words, I "unlocked the bands" by RSD a ROM that was pretty heavily customized for China Telecom:
SOLANA_SLNCT-57.1.40_Fastboot-service.xml.zip
I used RSD 5.5
After the flashing I was able to use my AT&T SIM.
This is the thread I followed, in Chinese of course:
http://bbs.gfan.com/android-2799793-1-1.html
Would you be willing to mirror those files on multi upload. China site is taking forever to respond to anything
I was hoping for a solution to be able to test Straight Talk on my Droid 3 before I jump ship. Hopefully more people will test this out and it can be confirmed!

Word of caution though, the ROM is heavily customized for China Telecom, and as you may have already knew, the "Android Market" is not available in China. English is available for some display is off.

Now you flashed this on the VZW XT862? Did you get data working on AT&T?
I'm really glad to hear this.
But I want to know:
1. If AT&T's 3G still working?
2. Am I able to still use verizon's service?
Also, if some one want the radio.img from those ROM, I could upload it.

I can answer to question 1 that AT&T's 3G works, that's the whole point of flashing this ROM, but as I said, the ROM was very heavily customized for China mobile, even though English is available as an option, I did it just for testing purpose, I probably don't want to use the phone on a daily basis with this ROM.
For question 2, I don't know as I have no accounts with Verizon. Sorry.

I have not try this so I could not answer your question. Sorry. However, whenever you said "unlocked", it applies to the GSM portion, which I couldn't think of why the stock ROM would re-lock the GSM portion. But again, I don't know.

well someone should probably give you the bad news... droid 4 has a locked bootloader
You don't need to "unlock, root and flash" ICS, you can just install the leaked ICS from the factory stock recovery.
The leaked ICS enables the global capabilities but beyond that I can't provide you much info.....
Also, flashing the leaked ICS is irreversible, though you can move forward as new(er) leaks are found and most likely up to the eventual OTA upgrade as well.
The leaks are designed to upgrade the stock phone.

I think what the seller may have been referring to is the SIM card. If I understand it right, the D4 works on the Verizon network with that SIM card. You have to either get a new SIM that is specifically for Rodgers, or you need to unlock the Verizon SIM card, and then it can work on anything. Sorry, I don't know how to go about doing it specifically for rodgers, but you should be able to search xda for the procedure for unlocking the SIM card. Good Luck!
If I have helped, please hit the "thanks!" button!

Again, no.
These are posted all over the internet and do NOT allow you to unlock or get root on the us or Canada 96XU and 96XW models. They also don't help bypass rmm prenormal on exynos (96XF/FD) or unlockable snapdragon (96X0) models. In short, they don't help with anything, other than frp bypass which is not a permitted topic on here. If anything they waste more time than anything because every time someone posts this stuff the same questions have to be answered again, and before they are people some time trying the same things that have been tried hundreds of times before and are known not to work. I personally don't think that is very helpful

Don't come at me with that garbage I'm not out here making these stupid threads. Seriously. Obviously if it was this easy to get root then someone would have it for my device, no ****. Don't come at me with that noob parlor stuff. Seriously. The point is has somebody said "this ROM will not boot on your device" nobody said anything about this ROM actually. Is it exynos? Is it actually a COM .tar? Does it boot period? Where'd it come from? Don't come at me with your cheap post about being mad because somebody asked a question you knew the answer too. I'm sick of it on this specific forum.
Also don't take what I say to heart. I sound like an ass but it's hard to convey emotion over the internet.

Although I somewhat agree, that person took time out of their day to post that to try to help random people they don't even know. How about a little appreciation

Except it doesnt help anyone with anything, it just causes more confusion and gets peoples hopes up for something that is impossible. If anything it takes time out of other people's day to have to come here and explain how this just nothing and not a magical unlock for their USA snapdragon

Well Do you know what Version of FW you are running? like G960USQS7CSI5 or G960USQU7CSK6.? I Used a Combination Firmware to Flash the Phone, You should be able to get into the phone settings enable everything you need and in settings, like Developer Mode,OEM-Install, and USB Debugging. This how a combination Firmware should look (COMBINATION_FAC_FA80_G960USQU7ASJ1_FACFAC_CL13230190_QB26521439_REV01_user_mid_noship_MULTI_CERT.tar.EF). I'f you are still needing help Feel free to message me

"If we could get someone with the snapdragon 9600 version to do a dump of boot/oem/vendor/system (possiblt TOS) partitions images I could help a bit. Would love to dig into the bootloader side of things. I found quite a few hidden commands on the pixel 2 when I was still using it."

Thanks for posting my comment I should have but it's been a busy night. I need a partition dump from someone with their bootloader unlocked so I can try to figure out a method for the North American Snapdragon. Thanks guys!
