I have posted on several forums and no one seems to know what's up with the issue I'm having - My DROID 3 will NOT go into dock mode no matter what. I have tried it with 3 different power cords and on three different docking stations - no Luck. I must be missing a file or something...right? I see that the docking service is available and running on the phone too which is really weird.
Thanks

Hi,
My Diamond is really unstable when it comes to syncing it with my computer. Some times it works fine, other times it won't even connect (not recognized). When it does connect, it usually drops the connection before I can even sync anything...
Anyone know how this can be fixed? One of the posts I found suggested a bad data pin on the phone...:S
I get the same - please help us!!
USB Cable
I've had the same problem before but it turned out to just be the USB cable that came with the phone. Have you tried a different cable to see it that's the issue?
Graham
I've tried two different computers, three different OS' and three different cables :S Was hoping that an HTC adapter I had lying around would fix it, but doesn't look like it :/
Thanks for the reply, though
Does anyone know how to enter the Car Home / Dock mode?
I'm asking because I want to enter those modes whenever I connect my USB cable to the Phone automatically
I heard they are activated automatically whenever docked with the Samsung docks, so the software is there, and they must be activated somehow

The Samsung docks have a built in Micro USB charger. This is wired slightly differently to normal USB leads etc. (apparently there is a spare pin they use) and this triggers the car or multimedia dock modes. AFAIAA.
Curiously, I searched around a bit, and when you buy those docks, the manual says you have to get the applications from the Market, however the International i9000 version has no access to them, only the NA variants.
I got those applications and they work fine (Except Desk Mode which crashes with 2.2 but works fine in 2.1)
Apparently the MicroUSB extra pin is only to keep the screen on at all times

What are the applications from the Market you are supposed to install?
Have a play....
Hello,
tried to find anything about it in the forum... just bought this cable:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270650208388&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
hoping it would work...
i am currently using perception 10.3 and firebird 2 v0.8 kernel, tried switching to the newest speedmmod kernel - didnt work.
is it a 2.2.1 issue? anyone got it to work?
Thank you,
Yossi
Different cables are hit or miss. Some cables just don't work even though they look identical to good ones.
i just want to know if anyone got it to work with any cable on 2.2.1, if so...what is your configuration? (ROM, Kernel...)
My son has a cable for his leapster gamepad. It works great on stock cog2.3b8 however the video (yellow) was actually one of the audio cables (I think red) so you may just need to swap connections around until you find one that works.... make sure to check the tv-out box in settings.
Those cables (in general, I didn't look at the ebay one you linked) work great. The quality is better in landscape mode. I use the one that I got with my Zune dock, it works great, and lined up correctly.
Hi,
a little more info... i ordered the original samsung cable. the seller assured me its a genuine product.
but it is for the i9000.
is there a chance we have a different mapping for the 3.5 mm connector???
Thank you,
Yossi
one more thing, can anyone check with a multimeter a cable that works, and tell me whre does the yellow plug connection go to in the 3/5mm connector?
mine is like this - the pin goes to the 3rd contact, and the ground goes to the fourth contact.
seems right to me...i dont know why it wouldn't work...
looks like a good quality cable too....
anyone has any idea?
Thanks.
Yossi
guys, on my search i found this:

i have my cable set the way its mentioned here. can anyone confirm that this setup works with a captivate? not only i9000?
Thanks!
Yossi
Hey so I got a tv out cable for the captivate from ebay, but nothing happens when i plug it into the tv after enabling the tv out option in the settings ive tried both ntsc and pal and tried 2 different tvs theres just no image nothing.
Anybody know the cause other than a faulty cable?
im running perception 10.2 if it makes a difference
I'm going to say it's a bad cable. The same thing happened to me after ordering one off of Amazon. It's really hit or miss with them. I didn't order another because it's not that important to me, but if you really want that function, I would go for a different cable.
I've been trying use a Bluetooth gamepad, but ever one I've tried (I think three different ones) have given me severe input lag on the order of 4 seconds (so nothing happens for 4 seconds l, but if you hold it long enough, it will stick for another 4 seconds) Anyone else experience this?
I also tried connecting a wired Xbox 360 controller through the USB-C with an adapter, but it only seems to power it; doesn't know what to do.
It could be partially the controllers' fault. I have one of the newer Xbox One controllers with Bluetooth. I haven't tried it yet but will see when I get home.
To support the 360 controller I believe you need a key layout file or something. There's a Magisk module that claims to add it ("1 Controller")
Ok, just tried the Xbox One controller and there was no lag at all. So it's possible, just maybe need to keep trying controllers
I've tried it with two off-brand Bluetooth controllers (the kind you get on Amazon when you search Android controller), and the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con. All had the same symptoms.
Hmm. From a quick Google, the Joy Cons lagging on Android seems to be a common issue, but entirely random depending on device, even ones with good ROMs like the Nexus series. Seems unlucky.
I just picked up an Ipega 9023. No lag and works beautifully. It does help having octopus installed
Loved It
Thank you
