Hey everybody, I'm new to Android devices so please excuse my lack of knowledge in this subject. I just received a 7" galaxy tab as a partial payment for a favor, problem is, it doesn't work. The person I got it from said he tried to root it (or flash it, couldn't remember), and now whenever I plug it in to charge it, its giving me the Phone>Warning Triangle>PC thing. I tried holding power and vol up to get it into download mode, but to no avail. I guess I'm wondering if this thing is completely toast, or is it salvageable and what do I need to do to get it working right? Thanks in advance.
It is definitely fixable what version off the tab do you have? There are a couple of good tutorials that will help you UN brick your tab

It's a SCH-I800. The SKU reads SCHI800BKV.
You should still be able to flash it using Heimdall. Go here and that should get you started in the right direction......

Hello I just picked up a dell streak off Craigslist, it worked great at first but now every time I reboot it acts as if I did a factory reset. Is this the dreaded read only bug I've heard of?
I've done a factory reset from settings, and it didn't help.
Right now I am trying to restore it, or get onto HC to see if it corrects the issue.
It is a T mobile S7 on 2.2.
Also I've tried getting into ADB, although it didn't show the device number under "adb devices" it said it successfully flashed the CW recovery (3.xx) and also stated that on the fast boot screen on the S7. Except when I restart the device to get into recovery the CW recovery is not present.
The person I purchased from changed their number since I bought it, so I'm very upset. I've been searching all over, at this point should I go for the N recovery situation?

After more searching, this is definitely the read only bug now I'm in the process of getting a warranty replacement, except I don't know who originally registered the tab or anything so that is an issue. Any help for doing this?

You're at the mercy of the service rep that answers when you call if you aren't the original owner and just hope its not out of warranty
No go well I'm selling it as is now, is 75-100 a good deal for it? Someone will pay 75 and they understand the issue

I'm really sorry but your device is done. The skyrocket people haven't been able to fix this yet by using a jig or qualcomm tools.
Reading and researching is really important. You can't flash any p73xx rom to the i957, it will brick.
This is exactly why I have tried to get a separate forum for the i957, but that hasn't worked yet.
Hope you are under warranty or that is an expensive mistake.

I did the exact same thing you did. It is very confusing (Well not really, I just did'nt take my time to read). I was exhausted because I was very happy to have my new skyrocket and new lte tab. I researched and researched. I rooted, installed custom rom and kernel on my skyrocket. I then rooted my tablet and it was great. I then installed a custom rom for a 7300 on my i957 and Boom, gone. Luckily I was within my 30 day return policy. Everything in my home is either jailbroken, rooted, homebrewed, w/e. so I have somewhat experience.
But the combination of tiredness, excitedness, and what ever else comes along with getting new gadgets, I didn't pay attention and blew up my tablet.
Even with my experience and never bricking anything before, I bricked my tablet. I took it back to the store and making believe I never even heard about rooting, jailbreaking, homebrewing; the sales people tried starting it up and eventually they couldn't get it to start up. I got a new tablet, I told them I left the tablet charging overnight and left it charging when I went to work, because I forgot to disconnect it. When I got home from work it just didn't turn on.
Eventually they gave me a new tablet and said do not charge it for more than 8 hours. They said I was the first customer to ever return this tablet because it was defective (This tablet is a beast). I told them sure I learned my lesson.
When I went home, I rooted it lol and installed the oc kernel. Remember there are no roms for the 4g model.
Before I went back to the store where I purchased my phone&tablet, I found that there is a youtube store that fixes bricked phones and tablets (He has videos of him fixing them) but when I emailed him, he said their program does not support in unbricking the lte tablet. This was about a month ago so you can check to see if they support it now. I think to unbrick phones it was like 50-100 dollars (I forgot)
You are not alone, I made the same dumb mistake. Never do important stuff when you are tired or excited or anxious. Sorry man, good luck.
I may have put this in the wrong area it was late last night and I was frustrated. I tried putting a 7300 ROM on a 7300. I didn't try anything fancy lol. But I appreciate the responsses. You think I'll be able to take it back and see what they can do? Maybe they'll exchange it as if it was a defect? I'll take it there today. See if they will exchange.lesson learned for me. Lesson being wait for updates from Samsung. As slow as they are. Lol thanks for the input if anyone has the capability to fix this
Hit me up.

A 7300 rom on a 7300 should only soft brick. Can you get into download or recovery?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
If you try to turn on your tablet and your screen turns on you can try to install the stock rom through odin again and it will work. There is a thread in this forums that explains how. If it is off and you turn it on and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING happens and it just stays with the black screen, no vibration or anything then it is hard bricked.
If it is hard bricked you can try to take it back and act dumb, not sure how long ago you purchased the tablet. If you are still within the 30 days you should be good because the sales people I took my tablet to did not have the machine to see how many times my device was flashed. If you are outside the 30 days they will tell you to send it to a samsung repair dealer (which I think they will see how many times the device has been flashed). Once you rooted your tablet it voids the warranty and they either do not have to fix it or will charge you an amount equal to your tablet. I did hear of cases where people with rooted tablets just returned it and they fixed it for free. I guess it dpeneds on anything else in life (How lucky are you?)
Yes you did put your question on the right place since this is for all the 8.9 tablets. (Thats the problem I came across with, I wish they make two forums for both tablets because they are in fact different.
Posting from my mobile so I didn't read your post again.
It is extremely rare but sometimes this can happen. Did you have repartition checked in Odin? If so that's bad.
There is something called qpst - qualcomm product support tools - that people are trying to get to work to fix hard bricks.

After a conversation with AD last night, I am pretty sure my Exhibit is "semi-hard" bricked. It will power up after you remove the battery, but not go into recovery. After reading a little, I have discovered a tool called a "USB jig" which will force a device behaving in this way into recovery mode. It can then be recovered via ODIN. Has anyone used a USB jig on our phone? The phones listed as compatible don't include the Exhibit, but often the Exhibit is not included on lists of devices, even when it's compatible. So, I was asking if anyone here has experience with a USB jig. If so, what was your experience and how did it go? I will need to get ODIN and learn to use it, as the second part of bringing my phone back from the dead. Thanks for your help.
About the jig i read a long time ago because some soft brick fear but was never used by me, its basically a small resistence circuit that somebody with electronic knowledge can do. Easely you could get one in ebay. So im almost sure it could work with the galaxy exhibit (because is simillar to galaxy W).
About Odin, the instructions are in the las thread (... not good thread). Download the file. Unzip anywhere you like in the PC. read the instructions. Read again. Then do it. Its easy because it was/is the main way to write stock firmware in samsung any devices.
Yes the USB jig works on this phone. I had need of it once and made my own, it was rather easy and very useful.

That is awesome to hear! It looks simple enough to build one. Too bad I'm not in grad school, anymore, where there was an electronics building station in the lab. I will have to see if I can get all the components together to make one, as buying off ebay will take a few days and be annoying. Unless someone here has one I can borrow.....
Added note: bought a jig off ebay for 99 cents. Hopefully, it will work. Now, I just wait....
Hello Everyone,
If any of you see all these posts out on the net about unlocking the boot-loader of the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini SM-G730A do yourself a favor keep going on to the next article, you'll saving yourself allot of grief! All of them are full or bologna to put it frank! I have broke it twice now and am convinced it isn't worth the trouble. I have found that odin and the original image can be restored and put the phone back in working order. I have also been able to root the device with little trouble but that is it. Anything else and the unit just keeps rebooting in recovery mode and then you have to wipe it out again and start over. I, on the other hand, have been successful at rooting and unlocking my Motorola Atrix HD MB886 and it is working great. But the Samsung is a for sale or a drawer phone because it is not going to be unlocked anytime soon I fear.
