Hi, i used baywolf's AIO captivate rogers 2.6 to flash back to stock using the supplied odin. It went alright and odin said that it completed successfully. I closed odin and reinserted the battery, there i watched it boot up and the rogers splash screen was up for a very long time. It eventually just shuts off after staying at the rogers screen. Help anyone?
reboot into recovery
wipe user data and wipe cache.
check out the rogers stock rom links in my sig.
full instructions and the same files AIO uses. (he uses my files)
Hey, i was about to go out and buy some resistors to make a jig because i didn't have the 3 button recovery fix. Then i tried wiping user data and it rebooted, to my surprise it loaded into the lock screen. All's perfect now, thanks for your help.
jig only helps if your screen doesnt come on.

Thats not true at all. It helps if you are in a situation where you can't boot properly and your button combo doesn't work. His combo obviously worked because he made it to recovery...
ok... true.. was talking about him... didnt consider other readers...
But isn't the screen not coming on at all a sign of a brick and not just a "soft brick"?
I know you had those couple of weird ones but that isn't the norm, and I haven't heard anyone else report success with a jig like that...
yeah but with my trick i found, the natural tendency when putting in a battery is, see if it turns on, ie push a button, which breaks the trick, i wonder how many people could acutally get unbricked with that? or just holding the buttons long enough... lol..
Hahaha...canadians...y u so funny?

Hi, I have a SS/ATT Galaxy S. It was working fine. I made the mistake of running an update to change the ATT splash screen. The device boots to the ATT splash screens and stays there. You can hear the SS start up sounds as though the unit booted ok.
I've tried various Odins they all hang on file analysis. I've tried using different computers per the recommendations in the various threads. I've tried many of the one click and also separate file updaters. They all hang on file analysis.
I am able to use Droid explorer to view the device. I've also put a new update.zip on an sd card but nothing seems to change the splash screen.
I'm not sure how to tell what version the unit is currently on.
I can get to the 3 button state. It says Android System recovery <2e>.
I have the options to reboot, reinstall packages, delete all user data and delete cache data. I've tried each of them, no change.
I have tried to read many threads before bothering anyone. Your input would be appreciated.
Thanks
if you have the update.zip on your phone, in the root of your SD card.. then from 2eRecovery, select reinstall packages.. may have to do it twice. That will boot your phone into clockworkmod recovery.. and from there you should be able to mount storage- put a ROM on your device, flash and be good to go.

Hi, Thanks for the fast response. I've tried update.zip on both an sd card and also via droid explorer, about 5 times. If I reboot, same thing, the ATT splash is there, and the Galaxy boot sound. I can get into recovery and droid explorer works. If I try Odin it hangs on file analysis. Anything else I can try? Thanks again.
Are you in dl mode when you try this, or recovery?
The phone is now bricked. I was in recovery mode as I saw the 3 button posts on holding the up/down and pwr. I just tried it with dl mode and odin3 and bricked it.(based on another forum's input to check repartition I think). Now it won't boot at all but I'm still able to get to dl mode but not sure what to run to fully recover.

If you can get to dl mode try using AIO Captivate to flash back to stock 2.1. I've had success as I flashed with the partition checked and had to go all the way back using ODIN contained in the AIO Captivate program. Found here

Yeah if you can get into download mode than you are not bricked. I would Odin or Heim back to JF6 and go from there. What happened when you tried reinstalling packages from 2e? I know you said everytime you reboot- but what did it say when selected reinstall packages?

Now on to some real ROM flashing!! Glad you got it working. I did almost the same thing and was sweating bullets.
Yeah, it was quite scary. I actually purchased some 100k resistors on Ebay but didn't need to make the jig.
Can you recommend a good set of f/w to load? Is it worth it to move to 2.3?
Cheers...

Of course it is worthed it to move to 2.3 I mean, it comes with so many more features and is running just perfect as a everyday rom. You shouldn't be disapointed

+1.
I had to make a jig when I soft bricked it. Not fun. Since then I purchased one and am glad I did.
Well, that means I won't have wasted my $2.00.
I saw this and thought it worth to try. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0aoabVtPJ8
In your footer, it says you're using mosaic.
e.g. ROM: Mosaic III, ¤Kernel: Xcal's #14, ¤Modem: JK4, ¤Launcher: ADW Ex
Can you point me to the correct files/process? I guess I'm scared of screwing it up again. when I look on the forum there's almost too much info for a noob to choose which is best. Cheers...
Tried all day using the search tool but couldnt find anything like this.
Tried to install continuum 6.1 on my cappy from a previous froyo build. Odin said pass on the kernel but now my phone boots to the att screen, then a fuzzy, static-like screen then promptly reboots to do it all over again. I can get into download mode but cant boot the phone normaly. Help would be appreciated. Thanks for helping a noob guys.
Did you flash Gingerbread bootloaders? like Cezar says too?
Sounds like a bootloop

If you can get to download mode, you're not out of luck. Go to the ODIN3 One-click and you should be able to get yourself back to a stock state where you can start clean.
Quick warning - if the rom you were trying to flash had the GB bootloaders, be extremely careful. The one-click above will overwrite the bootloaders, and if something comes unplugged during that time, you will be in need of JTAG service.

I don't think he did flash Bootloaders BUT if he did DO NOT use 3 button fix 1 click that will hard brick your phone.

Very true. I've seen several people use the wrong one, and the naming convention of ODIN3 and ODIN 3-Button doesn't really help that.
hi, i tried looking for some info but cant quite get exactly what i need,,
just flashed slimICS into my i897 , but for some reason flash process took less than a second and now the phone gets stuck at a screen with a g and 4.0.3. TH , can someone help my out here a little, this time i really dont know where to look or what to do, please advise
You can boot into recovery and try flashing again. Keep in mind the first boot might take a few minutes.

thats what ive been trying to do, it justs reboots, after i hold vol down + vol up + power, it displays att logo, then the G with 4.0.3 then reboots , loops
U may be holding the buttons too long. Try again, but release all buttons as soon as u see the first at&t screen.
If that doesn't work then u will probably have to get into download mode a flash to stock and start over.

i tried all of the above, for some reason , everything seemed to broke, even download mode wont enter now anymore , it just looped forever
read somewere i had to make a jig, to enter into download mode , not needed, i was able to enter into download mode via adb ,
btw , i flashed a kernel and it seems it didnt finished so it broke, after that i was not able to go into download mode or recovery mode, thats why i was asking but i managed to go into download mode using adb, now im back at stock rom, thanks for ur time, NO jig was needed
Check our faqs next time. If you ever loose recovery by what ever reason just ODIN a AOSP kernel thats running the same partition layout. Should get you recovery back so you can reflash.
yes i know read before posting, sometimes its just dificult when your running out of patience, whats amazing about it is that my wife always tells me, dont do things when ur upset, cause u break everything , i never listen, i break everything ahahaha, when im calm history is diferent, thnks for ur times,
by the way, what i noticed is that after recovering from all that happy clicking, my power button no longer works, could it be a bad flash? or is it just me that got really lucky and broke power button also?

It shouldn't be a rom/kernel problem. However on the off chance that it is you can ODIN your way back to Stock GB and check. Be sure you have kernels with touch recovery or that you can use the softkeys to select (its been so long I don't remember if it was available on TW kernels or which one had it. If its hardware shouldn't be to expensive to fix it ($30+ shipping through mobiletechvideos.com). Though need to consider if its worth fixing 2 year old device.
Cheers
A friendly fyi, as far as GB goes, the capacitive buttons can be used in the recovery of KK4 Corn Kernel v7.0A ---- menu=down, home=up, back=back, search=select.

Hi,
As the title says I have small problem. I bought my SGS1 with custom rom and kernel flashed into it already - sometimes it shows wrong time, went into recovery mode without my knowledge, had some problems with apps. Today I pressed Power and chose reboot - now I am stuck at animation that appears after logo kernel Semaphore. Of course I tried to look in other threads, I found a lot of them but still I cant figure out how to do it. You see, I never did it before and it's all hokus-pokus to me even tho I read stuff here at the forums. I managed to get into downloand and recovery mode using 3 button combo What do I do now? It seems way too complicated for newbie like me, every post isn't explaining it enuff for me. Can someone help me or at least give some tips, clues?
Things I got installed are Android 4 .0.4, 3.0.8 Semaphore ics 1.1.2s.
Thanks in advance guys

Get in recovery, clear cache and dalvik cache and reboot.
It will take a while to full boot cause it will have to rebuild it's cache but should work from there.
If it doesn't, You'll need more stuff but we'll get to that then.

Okay. I wiped cache and dalvik. Now I'm waiting on animation screen for 30 minutes. I'll let you know what happens after 1 hour.
By the way does any of those problems could be related to low battery? I had like 20% last time I rebooted my phone and problems started.
One more thing is - I don't have memory microSD card - guy sent me 16GB one but it doesn't work. Can we fix it without it? I wanted to buy a new one eventually
EDIT: Okay, one hour passed after I wiped cache. Everything was stuck on animation but suddenly, after I walked out of phone for a 5 minutes it stopped - everything was gone, I couldn't Power it or use 3 button combo. I think that's cuz battery went low. I plugged it into charger, we'll see if it charges. I hope so. EDIT2: Yeah, that was battery. Still can enter Recovery.

Did you recently remove the sd card? If so, try booting with it in your cell.
If that doesn't work, Mount your phone through recovery to backup your stuff on PC (like pics).
Now you'll need Odin KK4 without bootloaders (found in the stickies). As will as corn kernel and Odin 1.87. And finally a JB rom you wanna use on your internal sd.
Get your phone in download mode and flash KK4 (stock GB). Let it do us it's magic, once done, make sure it boots up fine. Then get back in recovery to flash corn kernel with odin 1.87 (gotta put it in the PDA slot). Finally, follow the FULL instructions provided by the ROM dev you chose.
