SPB Shell Mobile 3D v1.2.3 - HD2 Android Themes and Apps

Ok, done some searching on the forums, but unable to find a solution... hence the new thread.
Anyway I have managed to hack the HTC HD2, was running windows 6.5, but put the lovely NexusHD2-Gingerbread_V3.1a_NAND_(Android-2.3.6) ROM on my handset few days ago.
Also trying to get SPB Shell Mobile 3D v1.2.3 to work correctly. Can install it fine, and it does run for a while. However after a while the "normal" android screen appears. Even though SPB is running the in processes, I am unable to switch to the SPB screen, even tried pressing the "home key" but that doesn't even work (as per suggested in the instructions). Done a reboot, and even set SPB to be the default home screen. But no joy, and the normal android screen just keeps loading instead.
Even downloaded the “Home Switcher” application from Android Market, but even that doesn't work. As it doesn't even show the SPB as an option.
Anyone else having this problem, and is there a fix around for this? As I really, really want SPB to run correctly. As i'm lovin' the interface on the SPB app!

no, no problem here running typhoon's rom new spb 3d is fast and smooth

Excuse my ignorance
Is this free?
Where do i find it?
I have dual boot mango and android -- this should work right ?
Is there much difference from winmo6.5 version and android?
Thanks for any help

I had the same issue xtreme_boi. This happens when we do not purchase/download SPB from market. As soon as you install it, it says couldn't find the registration from market or some crap like that. I tried installing SPB 3D Shell.apk w/o the internet on my mobile & then modified some SPB related file usinf root explorer. It worked fine even after switching internet on. But after reboot it just disappears. I'm working on it. will post once i find a fix for it .

What firewall program are you using??

Firewall? do the widgets (news, weather...) reload new data properly if you block it?
Freezing market app (root uninstaller or app remover) should work better.

piracy or a way to pirate, is not recommended here and it also violates rules
SPB shell is an app that needs to be bought
firewalling it, hacking it , changing permissions or running a script or disabling its check is some form of hacking/cracking it
SPB shell does take a while to scan through your stuff if you bought it

Well guys i cant remember what i used but i wuz blocking the marked not spb shell cuz i dont need the market that often if u need just use adwloader for example then use market block it and switch back to spb shell

No problem with me running it with American Android, but then again I purchased it.

Why Bother
If your running android then why bother with SPB Shell, sure it's great for making WM flasher but with android you can do so much better than SPB Shell...!!!

spb mobile shell 2.0 vs Dutty...

anyone care to chime in on this??? Is it worth going to the spb? Can you install over top of latest Dutty? Looks pretty cool!
Dutty is a rom..... SPB MS 2.0 is a program. It'll run on any rom.
Yeah I know that it is... I guess I was meaning how does it compare to just running HTC home? Worth the buy?

You can download a trial for it. Mods please move this thread the Kaiser Software forum.
but this has nothing to do with dutty's rom..
for me its worth the buy...read more on the spb website
sorry..
Guess I should have posted over there sorry..
SBP products run great and are essential for any phone but I only use SBPdiary w/HTCH on my Today screen. Most of their products run great in the background, SBPTime for powerful alarm clock, stop watch, and world timer. SPB Phone Suite excellent calling features that can run in the background as well.
I typically enjoy HTCHC but from time to time I wish I had the artistic and technological skills to create something different
I have a Tilt, and I tried installing both SPB Shell 2.0 and SPB Pocket Plus 4 on Dutty's April 1st rom, and they worked but did one weird thing, when the phone would boot up the signal would go in and out, flashing there, then not there, then there etc., it would do this for almost a minute before finally locking on a signal.

I would say that the SPB Mobile Screen 2 program is awesome! I have been using it on top of Dutty's Light rom and it works great. Real smooth and responsive, lots of customization options as well as nice fit and finish which is hard to find on a WM6 product.
If you want a free version you can always check out .... to find all the crack codes for almost any software package out there.
As far as the downsides go, it eats battery faster than normal, it does not run on your today screen which bothers me and you can OK through it and go back to your today screen. That problem is slightly solved by SPB making it your default app when you start up the phone and bring it back from sleep which elevates most of the issues.
I just flashed my phone and am going to try giving HTC Home Live a chance, but if I do not think it is customizable enough I am going straight back to SPB... Before I forget to mention, SPB has one of the best opening screens I have seen so far, it has a email, missed calls and text messages right on the front, as well as weather, call options, clock, and the best part a calendar with dates and your schedule all in an easy to read form.
I hope this clears up something for you. Hopefully you wont have to pay for it, but if you do, I would actually say it is worth the 30 bucks.

That's because weather updates on bootup.
It sucks but does level off & then everything works.
Besides that, they both work excellent for me together

I tried the spb mobile shell trial and it's also nice.
Try Pointui as well, you might like it and not buy spb mobile shell at all. The last time I tried this was when it just came out in Alpha stage and it did quite well and was fast with the original, slow wm6 OS that came with my Tilt

Ahh, so that's what's causing it, I was going nuts trying to figure out why that was happening with them, thanks dwny! It does level off after a minute or so like you said and then it's fine, I was thinking it was screwing with my signal or phone, but if it's normal and not a problem, I am putting them back on. I am so glad you posted this, I was missing my SPB stuff, HTC Home just isn't cutting it for me. I had hard reset the Tilt and reloaded Dutty's Rom, and left off those programs because, like I said, I thought it was an error.
Edit-If I shut off the weather, will it stop that behavior? I don't use the weather on SPB MS, It doesn't have the weather for my town of Redwood Valley, I use Weather Bug and Weather Watcher for that. It's weird, I didn't have this issue when running MS or PP on Laurentius's ROM's. I take it that the signal thing is only visual, ie.the signal is actually okay, but while it's updating at boot up it "shows" it as going in and out, no?

Be careful with Point UI, it's tricky to uninstall (there is no uninstall for it in the "remove programs" page), and it leaves pieces of itself of it allover. I tried it too, and it has a ton of potential, but they really need a way to get it off the phone, right now it's an exercise in frustation.

Quick question, what did you think of Point UI? worth installing and flashing again? I am fumbling around with a lot of different UIs? I have tried Ultimate Launch (bit too complicated for me to setup the way I want, SPB Mobile Shell, (but it drains too much batt), HTC home (not customizable enough.) If you could let me know a little more about the POINT UI that would be awesome before I put it on my phone. Thanks buddy.

you tried htc home customizer w/ quick launcher?
There are many customized icons, clocks, backgrounds, and weather views. In addition w/ quick launcher you have an extra row of tabs, which you can change to go to any program (and icons of course).
I stuck with HTC embedded inside Ultimate Launcher.
Ultimate Laucher is not that complicated if you look carefully a little bit of patience and you'll get the hang of it, moreover you could just copy your Ultimatelauncher.ini file as backup to have the same setup each time in case you like flashing roms a lot.
For HTC Home there's HTC Home Customizer, lots of icons to download.
I've tried most of them, but i always end up with the simplest setup I guess I got tired of fancy sliding and multiple clicks, the fewer clicks to find what I need does it for me.
Btw, there's another nice today app I'd like you to see it's rlToday Check it out

SPB Mobile Shell & Freezing Touchscreen

I installed SPB mobile shell 2 days ago and was delighted with its functionality but shortly afterwards my touchscreen stopped working completely. i had to hard reset my phone to get the touchscreen working again.
i installed nothing but spb mobile shell when i restored the settings and the same thing happened again (this was a test not just me being stupid)
anyone had this problem? if so any solutions?
is there any other shells out there with equally good functionality?
thanks in advance

What do you mean when by restored the settings? Are you trying to restore from a backup program (Sprite backup, Spb backup etc etc)? Or do you just mean your going into the program and doing the settings from Mobile Shells interface?
I haven'e experienced the loss of touchscreen in my use.
sorry i meant i reinstalled the mobile shell after the hard reset... i worded it badly

I have Mobile Shell 2.0 on my phone as well but do not have the same problems as you. Are you still running the stock ATT Rom? Thats probably the issue, I had Mobile Shell 2.0 on my cousins phone on a stock ATT Rom and it ran so slow it appeared as thought he touch screen wasnt working, but it just responded very slowly. I have installed MS 2.0 about 30 times on multiple different phones and have not had that issue.
I'm runnning the t-mobile rom that came with my english version of the phone. Its ok i've got SPB pocket plus running the way i want it so i'm happy with that... i'll live without the Mobile shell. Thanks though

I loved SPB Pocket Plus for a few months but once I started using mobile shell it was over for pocket plus. Much better integration and look and feel. I would def flash the rom as that is most likely the problem, MS is pretty processor intensive and will chew up your memory. May I ask what is your storage and program memory usage after you soft reset your phone?
Storage Memory Free after soft reset 93.73MB
Program Memory Free after soft reset 69.47MB
Thinking of switching to ifonz to see what that is like for a while but I really like the way I have pocket plus set up and the integration of finger friendly contacts and palm threaded sms from the forum
i did like the integration of mobile shell but i'm delighted with the phone at the moment as i got tomtom set up yesterday

Sorry if this thing has been already asked somewhere else.

try having a look at Battery Status, there are a lot of skins available for it.
10x, but I also want programs to dispaly informations about the memory, wifi, program launcher, and progrmas like this, 10x for the batery post.
spbtoday, and there's loads of other today plugins, just google exactly what you want eg. windows mobile today program launcher and i guaruntee they'll come up

Another vote for SPB, a combination of SPB Pocket Plus and SPB Mobile Shell is superb. Today bundles together a few other things as well.
Are you willing to pay for software as these aren't free?
Spb Programs....worth every penny
I am running Spb Pocket Plus, Diary, phone, traveller & time (with Spb Backup as well)
Totally ditched TF3D as its only to get the girls (and I already gotta girl )
u can get skins for BatteryStatus (believe the name has changed) which show all the info u want... there is a big post full of them somewhere (think it is under Development and Hacking section).
yes I see that spb programs are very cool and I`m willing to pay for them.
Thanks

a few Qs about the D2

ok so firstly, i'm wondering, if i buy spb shell 3 and throw it on my d2....if i don't like it, how easy is it to switch back to the default interface?
Is SPB shell 3 any good? do people recommend it?
I'm still having problems with youtube app. i've tried hard resetting but it's still saying no connection please try again or something. I'm tried turning proxy on and off and nothing happens.
does spb shell drain the battery more than the touch flo?
thanks for the help if anyone replies
also does spb shell use the same keyboard as the d2 default? i like the default one, really useful
and finally is there an app that means i can switch from spb shell to touch flo when i want? that would be the best idea i guess

personally I think its pretty good, I've had it on for a week or so now and its got everything I'd expect from it, I'd say its not quite as smooth as TF3D for scrolling large program menus but other than that its a great piece of software. You can always get the trial version from their website and see what you think though: http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/pocketpc-software/mobileshell/download.html

not that I've noticed, I've not done any formal tests but it seems about the same and memory useage is about the same too.
Hope this helps
sorry, just seen your other post. Yes it does use the same keyboard and you can switch from touch flo to shell easily but I'm not sure how easy it is to go the other way around. Since uninstalling shell immediately reverts the phone to touch flo I guess there should be a way of doing it but I've not seen one around.
I have installed SPB Shell 3.0 for a few days now and I like it more than TF3D.
I personally recommend it...

I find the same issue intermitently with youtube. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I just keep going in until it works.
It might be due to the poor receptionn of my service provider (I am changing now). Or probably some bug with the version of the application we have. You can also try skyfire and just use the youtube web site.

Alternative to touchFlo 3d

Does anyone know of an alternative to TouchFlo 3D. I spoke to an HTC technician who told me that he uses a better program for his Diamond that has better response times etc, but he wouldn't say what it was. I was complaining about the response times on the phone.
He probably meant PointUI, SPB Mobile Shell, Winterface or any number of alternatives. Been trying SPB Mobile Shell 3 which is pretty good (there's a free trial) but my fav so far is PointUI (free "light" version) - http://www.pointui.com
There are also a couple of iPhone clone interfaces in the Development and Hacking section.
Thanks a lot for that echolock. I am just downloading the free Pointui to the phone. Do I have to disable TouchPro 3d before loading it or will it do that automatically. I am fairly new to the phone so please excuse my ignorance.
Yes, you have to disable TF3D before using PointUI.
After all, if you decide to keep PointUI instead of TF3D, you have to flash your phone with a naked Rom so you gain space and memory.
Do you know how to disable TF3D. My phone is an Orange branded one if that makes a difference. They use thier own ROM. I can't find a way to disable it anywhere. I have downloaded Pointui directly to the phone but I can't start the program. It isn't in programs. I have found it in my documents. Can you help.
Go to start-settings-today, under items, untick touchflo.
Thanks for that. TF3D is now disabled. Any idea how i load Pointui onto my phone now?
Download the program (which is a .CAB file) to your computer, then copy to the phone (storage card is best area)
Then, using FileExplorer, naviagte on the phone, to the location you saved it, and click on the program, it'll ask a few things, just click the left soft button.
Thanks for that. Installed it and works fine. It does seem beeter than the TF3D.
I use scott seligman's launcher on the standard windows today screen,it just add's program icon's to today screen, one tap open's any application,no sliding this thing here, flipping this there, scrolling up or down.
It's not finger friendly though, unless you have pointy little finger's,or usually use a stylus anyway, but it doesn't get much faster or less resource hungry than this simple app.
WAD from lakeridgesoftware.com is pretty incredible
let me know what you think
