[Q] Remove "cell standby" and camera files from CM 7.1 stable?? - Nook Color General

When I check my battery usage in CM 7.1 stable, "Cell standby" is listed. I've also noticed a Camera app and Phone app. How can I remove these items, to save space and power? Also, is there more to remove for the Camera than just the Camera app itself? (While keeping the Gallery intact)
Thanks!

This has been discussed so much it isn't funny. Removing them will do you nothing. No battery improvement at all. It might even have negative effects as some apps require these apps and services.

Thanks. Though I would be interested in finding out whether or not having or not having them truly affects battery life, and also, what apps are dependent on them.

No, you showed me that you're.. something I can't write here in pleasant company. If this is supposedly so, I want scientific evidence, as in establish 2 controls, one with the services, one without, run both through an identical test sequence, and report results.
Surely this is better than saying "It might cause issues"?

koopakid08 is right, this topic has been discussed ad nauseum. try using the search function before making new threads
http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=95324108
is just a beginning. Enjoy your research
---------------edit--------------------------
also, the same search repeated in the dev forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=95324678
This one includes a script to remove cell standby(with 23 pages worth of commentary), which showed no battery increase for the people who tried it.
Seriously, use the search function. please? All I did was type in "cell standby" in the lovely little box in the top right that says "search this forum"

I have been reading these forums since I got my NC 24 hours ago, and am still digesting info on it. It will probably be several days until I have finished reading everything of note.
Do you *really* think I haven't already run a forum search on this topic? People yell about resurrecting old threads, and they yell to search. Of course I searched first, because I wanted an answer as quickly as possible. Idiot.
I'm done with this thread, because obviously people are fans of being idiotic. As soon as I can find the "delete thread" option, I'll use it, because people who have answered this thread obviously have no scientific evidence (not hearsay) to back up their assumptions.
Edit: Could not find a "delete thread" option, so I suppose unsubscribing from it will just have to do.

Wow... Chill. You have links to threads with the evidence you want. If they are not scientific enough for you do tests yourself. No one is stopping you. Calling people names isn't going to help anything.

Even removing these doesn't do any good for battery life, but still I have no problem removing some of default apks from cm7 and NC runs fine, that include camera/phone/sms/voice recorder/theme.

It will not effect battery life one bit. But it will give you extra memory. That's a benefit many overlook and forget. Bloatware on any android device..be it phone or tablet..should be removed. To remove...delete the apks in system/app and data/app with root explorer.

You are correct regarding battery life and and there IS a benefit of removing bloatware (if for nothing else than to unclog* your app drawer) but please, don't remove the apk's - just freeze them with TB or rename them. Some updates in Android look for the presence of all the apk's in a given ROM before allowing an update. At I know from my own experience this is true for Acer Iconia tabs.
* this is a scientific term meaning that if you are a klutz like me, freezing keeps me from inadvertent presses on an icon!

Agreed...both do the same...freezing or deleting. It's amazing that when I posted about this very same thing when I got my nook...everybody said battery life and overlooked memory!

Don't suppose there's a list somewhere of un-needed .apks that can be safely frozen?

One week since I got my Diamond...

... and I must say I'm pretty impressed. Unlike what appears to be general consensus, I'm pretty much sold on Touchflo 3D, bĂșt I still have some problems and questions some might be able to answer. Some of the questions I know are still unanswerable, some have already been answered, but I'm just writing them down for completeness. The ones that have been answered have been edited in for future reference.
- Can Opera be removed or can the Browser globe on the Internet page of TF3D be linked to Internet Explorer?
According to KukurikU, the answer to this question remains no for now. Probably, a modified ROM can change this behaviour. NChief says that using Opera some more would be a better idea, as he feels its a more capable browser.
- Can the background of TF3D be changed on all pages, instead of only the Home screen?
Not yet. This might be in future updates.
- Can we add custom cities to the TF3D Weather application?
No, according to a thread about this question, for now it appears HTC is using a DNS referral to forward our weather inquiries to AccuWeather in a special layout. Using any city in this script that is not listed in the normal list yields no result as the whole thing just reverts.
- Can you set the SMS/E-mail pages in TF3D to only display unread SMS/E-mail?
Not yet. This might be an option when TouchFlo 3D is more heavily modded.
- Can I have the battery indicator show at the top of the screen while TF3D is running?
According to most people, it should already be there. Sadly, it is not for me. I'll investigate this some more to find out if there is a particular reason for this.
- Can anyone tell me whether the bottom USB connector on the Diamond is a modified 5-pin USB mini connector, and whether such a plug can be used to charge the phone (in case I lose my original powercable).
Again, according to KukurikU, the original cable is a modified 5 pins mini-USB adapter, I'm going to take the guess that the remaining pins are used for audio/feedback purposes.
- What are generally accepted must-have games, and generally accepted must-have applications for WM6 / Diamond?
Sadly, KukurikU felt he was not intelligent enough to answer this question. Until now, I've found that Advanced Configuration is one handy utility to have (especially in combination with the quite useful tweaks topic), and that alternate GPS software (ie besides Google Maps) is much lighter on the battery.
I also have some remarks and comments:
- Hard-SPL Dev + TLR's ROM are on my Diamond and they're great improvements. They stopped me from returning my Dutch, crippled ROM without handwriting support, slow, laggy stuff.
- Overall impressed. Good battery-life, fast, responsive, uncluttered, very broad range of possibilities, wow.
In case I asked any stupid questions: yes, I'm new. Sue me.
Why, I'm glad to see so many enthusiastic replies . Let me add another question then:
- Is it possible to minimize TT7 while still having it use the voices to indicate the route (ie. to listen music and TT7 at the same time), and if not, does another navigation program support this?
It appears this should be possible, and in some cases I find it does work, in some cases it doesn't. If I find out what way to get both running is best, I'll edit it in.
- Learn to use opera and you will notice that it's WAY better than IE
- The background can not be changed on all TF3D pages (yet?)
- You can not add custom cityes to the TF3D Weather application
- I have learnd that I can use any mini-USB cabel for chargeing(don't think its recomended tho)
That's the questions I can answer, hope I got them right.
btw, try searching the forum

I already stated in the first post that many of these have already been answered, but that I'm listing them for completeness. Please, if you want to point the finger at anyone not reading, please point it at yourself. Especially for you, I've been so free to bolden the text I'm referring to in my first post.
Besides that, I must say the search function on this forum is pretty useless - thanks to people posting those same questions over and over. For one of my questions, I ended up going back to page 13. I'm glad this forum is so inviting to people with questions, I mean, after all, a forum is not for asking things, is it now? Of course not, that would be absurd. Especially seeing that to find the answers to some of these questions, you have to spend almost an hour digging through multi-page threads in a 50-page topic list. It would be extremely hard to answer those questions for someone who knows the answer to these, I know, but honestly, I take it someone can put in the heroic and epic effort to at least try? Now, if there were a sticky with questions answered too often, that'd be a first step in the good direction. A bit like the, may I add, excellent list of tweaks. Do you hear anyone ask for tweaks besides in that topic? Of course not, there's a practical resource for going through that.
Nevertheless, I would like the answers on the questions not answered yet. There are at least three I know have not been answered yet, or of which I could not find the answer. At least, thanks for the ironic reply.

this is a good example of life-death question. here is an answer: you should have it all the time, it is already there! duh!? look again...
i think you didn't notice that the great majority of posters here are fighting with really technical issues or waiting for help in critical issues, not to mention the ones that are developing tools and applications to make our diamond more reliable and fast. the forum is full with "after 1 week", "i have it for 2 weeks" complains and reviews. don't want to be mean or sarcastic (and it is hard for me not to) but could wait a little more or search a little more here and in other places?
I agree with tha-rami, the search function doesn't always provide the results you want and this is a forum i.e. a medium for a free and open exchange of views. Yes, a search is most peoples' first option but I for one simply don't have the time to spend hours and hours trawling through each page and topic.
Have a little patience and don't assume that a poster hasn't searched - two days ago the search function didn't work at all for me. If you can't be constructive in a reply then you have to question why you're replying at all!

On my previous Touch and Touch Dual and also Ameo devices ive had Tom Tom Navigator 6 minimised with music playing and the Voice directions have still worked.
I have John Cleese as the Voice on my device and its great listening to him chatting all over some dance music! hehe!
Regarding the custom city in Weather, see this thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=397599
I agree with both sides of the argument.
It took me a few seconds to search for Custom City part of the Forum, but ive also had problems searching for items.
It would be nice if there was a thread started, that literally was edited and updated with all the common questions. (I suppose thats what the Wiki's for, but i never look at it as its never usually up to date) no other posts were added just 1 long 1st post that had a list of all the useful threads in it and what they were.
It can be hard trawling through many pages of threads trying to find what you want, but in my experience its worth it! Some of the replys to people asking questions can be a bit sarcastic tho...
eg
Search the Forum
Try Searching
or
Have you thought about Clicking on Search?
But i understand where these people are coming from, they have all searched through the forums and looked for what they want. Maybe it does take a little longer but im hoping that moderators will begin to tidy things up on here as there are alot of duplicate posts and information.
I think maybe the Forum should have a "Diamond Reviews" or "Reviews and Experiences" section added in. That way all the people that want to voice their opinions can do in their own part of the forum, plus this will free up some of the General Diamond discussions. Just an idea, please dont flame me for my opinion.
Anyway, I agree that XDA Developers is an excellent source of information for all things Diamond. All good! Glad its here and glad there are so many helpful people on here. Nice one!

The arrogance is outstanding! There are just three sub-forums here for the Diamond so if you super smart phone geeks want to have your own sub-forum I suggest you start one - 'uber geek' or similar. This is a forum as previously stated and some seem to spend a great deal of time putting an individual down rather than pointing them in the right direction. Don't mention the search facility, it's poor. This evening I searched for 'GPS latitude' (I wanted to see if I could get raw lat & long without installing TomTom, Co-pilot or something similar). The result of the search pointed me to a thread of multiple pages - I got to page 13 before I gave up without any mention of anything relevant.
I give up quite a bit of my time suporting people via the Microsoft newsgroups for Vista, Outlook and wireless networks in the full knowledge that most posters don't have the knowledge that I do in these areas but, not once have I arbitarily decided that I'm smarter than them. No doubt in some cases I will be and in some cases I won't. But for your information, if qualifications are any measure of 'smartness' (and they're not!), I have a Bachelors and two Masters degrees and the next time your aircraft takes off late flying you to wherever it might just be because I'm searching a forum for the umpteenth hour.
Relax and help others, you may find that others will help you one day!

Why, thank you. I'm not even going to reply further to Mr Ray, as I've had quite some fun reading his reply. He seems to indeed be quite literal, and he appears very good at ignoring the very cause of a forum and for indeed seems to love using that to put 40 minutes into trying to make fun out of someone (which ended up in a fail, although I did chuckle at the "Is it now?" thing, which was, admittedly, rather funny). Now, you, you are pretty horrible as well, but luckily, you posted some answers.
I'm glad to see people agree with me, and I know why. I know that they know that even Mr Ray and you both started one day by asking a question here. I know that most likely, you've been treated the exact same way, or that you were so lucky running into a normal person who has more to do than wasting 40 minutes putting someone down. Well, try someone else for that, I usually just skip those posts.
Oddly, I have a problem with one of the questions - and the problem is: there is no battery indicator, and if there were, why in gods or any deity's name would I ask for it? I'm using TLR's ROM 1 on a Dutch Diamond. I play to flash it to TLR's ROM 2 as soon as I get Outlook on this PC to at least not lose my contacts, and will report whether or not it shows up then.
Glad to know that the battery charger is indeed an USB 5-pin connector. Also glad to know that there are sane people around. I was thinking of spending some more time on these forums, and seeing that the most active posters around seem to be half-intelligent morons that spend days lurking for threads that contains anything they can flame (a common problem amongst the more 'elite' users of forums, of whom some feel they're too important to waste time reading topic-titles of subcritical questions, but feel new people should click through all 50 pages to find an answer tucked away on page 27 of the topic because the search engine in vBulletin forums sucks big time. I studied some internet- and social psychology, no master in that, though), I think I actually should may I find some spare time. There are probably lots of people around with subimportant questions and the best way to help them, is to help them.
Luckily, there are people like Skier641 around, people who maybe do not know the answer, but do voice their opinion against those of the 'elite' who feel they're exactly that, effectively rendering them useless to both community and forum. Luckily, my questions have been answered rather satisfactory. I'll edit the answers into my first post for further reference. Maybe, some day, the search engine will actually work and yield someone this thread, after which they can quickly and easily find the answers on page 1.
I'm spending too much time on this. For your information, this took 6 minutes to write. I hope that Mr Ray and whatever-his-name-was-again are having 20 minutes of great fun using their reverse psychology on this subject. It's amazing how most likely, they'll spend tens of minutes writing a witty reply to this one, instead of taking the five minutes it would've taken to answer my questions. Or maybe, after I posted that line, they'll act smart and reply in one line. Alternatively, after that line, they may not post at all.
That makes 7 minutes.

Network Location and/or aGPS

Question for the Android gurus out there:
Is there any inherent reason we can't have network location and/or aGPS running on Android? I love all of the apps available that use my location to find restaurants, etc. But these are essentially useless with the current state of the GPS, which takes several minutes to achieve a lock, and loses it as soon as it goes to sleep.
Are these things inherently unachievable, or is it just something we haven't delved into yet?
TIA

As incubus pointed out, aGPS works fine with Myn's Donut build. It lacks Location though, but the port is still not perfect, which is why we still have some features that might not work properly or at all.
As much as I don't agree with the tone in your post, I have to agree with you in the sense that cp0020's answer was a bit out of place. Having said that, try to ask the cook for the particular build you are concerned with about the issue that you are having by posting in the respective thread, rather than opening new threads. This way, it will make the forum cleaner as threads with questions have a bad tendency of repeating. Thank you for understanding.

dude if your gonna act like a little kid and have no respect for anyone, especially in this forum then you shouldnt be here. and there are tons and tons of posts about this so dont even sit there and get an attitude with me cause i said to search. if your gonna put a new thread out then you need to say that you have searched the forum and cant find anything. that simple. now if your gonna continue to to be apart of this community then you need to change your attitude and have some respect for others. hope im being clear enough!!!!
THis thread has been reported and due to the lack of respect to other users (against xda rules) this thread is now closed.
Several people have stated that this subject has been covered previously.

Would anyone like this?

A stickied folder for Help and Troubleshooting for both apps and themes? Or each their own? Please be gentle. Since so many people are using different builds, just wondering.
lol guess not!
The problem is people don't use them. There are existing threads that were written to explain how to install, etc. You can go through any one of the rom threads and see the same questions asked over and over and over. I have stopped answering the blatant "I didn't even try to figure it out" kind of questions. You want to play with this stuff I feel you need to put in the effort to figure out how it works before you do something. And how to fix it when you inevitably break it. Freaking out when your tablet bootloops and then just asking the same stupid questions again, and again really does get annoying... The major issues that you can run into have been solved, and answered in numerous locations, numerous times. You just have to look for it!
That is done by reading! A lot of reading... I answer a lot of questions. But rarely ever ask one. Why? Because 9 times out of 10 the same question has already been answered. You just have to learn to use the search button at the top of the page.. Or search Google for the subject. This tablet is not really that much different from any Android phone and a lot of the info applies.
If you are not willing to try to help yourself maybe an Ipad is a better fit.
So, if you want to write an FAQ have fun. Maybe people will use it. But I wouldn't really get my hopes up that it will stop the people that won't read, are illiterate, lazy, whatever the excuse is from asking the same thing over, and over...
I agree with you 100%. I was just wondering if a mod could make a sub folder. But like you said I'm not sure everyone would use it. I appreciate the response.

I have found that I can't search while using the G-Tablet's browser on XDA Forums. Not an excuse for not going to one's PC and searching but perhaps a root cause of so much repitition on the forum.

Most of the questions I see that repeat are the questions where someone no longer has use of there tablet because it has bootlooped, or some other evil thing. So they must have had use of a PC to ask the question. I think it is more a lack of patience, OMG! my tablet is dead and the sky is going to fall kind of thing.
Take a breath, slow down for a minute. The world won't stop spinning because your tablet froze. Take some time and read! And like magic... The answer will likely pop up from a number of different threads.
I really do understand the mentality.. It is a part of life today. Instant gratification without having to put any effort into anything. Maybe it is just because I am older but I was raised in a generation where asking a question normally got answered with a question! Like did you look in the book? Did you try and figure it out for yourself? Did you do anything to help yourself before you asked the question? And then it may have been answered with a big slap in the head!
I have always tried to look at things as if I am stranded on an Island in the middle of the Ocean. The ONLY way to get off the Island is to figure out a solution.. And unbelievably every manual ever made just happens to be on that Island. Well, I'm gonna get off that Island. I'm going to take the time to read.
With the use of the elusive button we call "Search" you too can have every manual ever made! Or at least have most of your answers.. And you too can get off the Island!
I was more or less asking if those questions could be moved to an isolated area lol, I use the search function. But sometimes the meat can get covered up by the potatoes so to speak.
once again thank you for the quick reply.

[Q] Need advice on stock N1 before deciding to Root/Mod

Alright, please don't butcher me and be constructive before posting. I've noticed a lot of people posting in this forum getting bashed by others not really helping in anyway.
Anyway, I got a stock N1 2.3.4 and love it. The only issue I have with my N1 is storage. Now I have done the whole adb thing and set to go to the SD card, but I am app hungry as I am a systems engineer and have a lot of troubleshooting apps. Problem being, I have to constantly choose between what I need vs. what I want to use; and both conflict due to size. I have been looking at possibly rooting and even possibly going to a mod (Cyanogen) but do I really need to? My only issue is storage of the apps, so if I can get all the apps I need onto my N1 without having to do any of the previously mentioned, I rather do that.
Any ideas and help would be awesome.
If you root you can run a rom such as, cyanogen which allow moving app to sd-ext. (a script such as dark tremor's a2sd is required)
You could even move dalvik cache and data to the ext. Moving app to the fat 32 don't help much as data still reside internally taking up space.
I guess the follow up question would be then, does it do it natively or like you said, there will be some reading and tinkering to do?
I just rooted to CM7 for the same reason and I get like 100 to 200mb extra space with all my apps already installed before I used to have 25mb free. it does make a difference good luck rooting.

Read the FAQ, question 9.
There is a good reason why some people are bashed on the forum - it's because they refuse to read and do their homework before they go around opening threads and asking the same question for 100000th time. Please try to avoid being one of those getting bashed, and before you ask - invest your time searching the forum for answers. Think of it this way: are you the first that is likely to ask that question? Does it seem like a rare question? And if both answers are "no" - then you'll most probably find your answer without asking.

Some people are just cranky... there is always a bit of RTFM...but this is a forum.
I finally made the plunge about a month ago with CM7 for some very similar reasons as I was just running out of space to run any good applications. I still don't have it tweaked the way I want but doing more research on getting Darktremor to work best for my application.
I have been reading these forums since before I got my N1 and just did not have the need to install any of the ROM's...mainly as I did not think I had the time if things went sideways (usually happens with my projects it seems) but the instructions people have put out are really good and fairly easy. I might not have my mom try to root a device but it is surprisingly easy. I have not jumped over to the nighties yet and may do so in the future.
So my general summary is do it... Root... and get CM7 or the flavor of the month you will be surprised on how much you like it and wonder like I have why in the world you waited so long
Good luck
Chris
app2sd doesn't need a custom rom or anything like root to work 'n' its built in since froyo. anyway try the "pm setInstallLocation" process it might work even without root.
currently there are two different ways to root, with or without unlocking the bootloader.
anyway storage isn't necessarily a reason for choosing CM or whatever like MIUI/Modaco or anything.

At this point I don't think people should really mind simple questions at this point of time. the N1 section doesn't really have that much traffic like before when good questions would get buried under the how to root or best roms questions.
It's actually not so much about the forum traffic, but about the quality of answers. People get tired of answering the same things over and over, and eventually they stop. As long as there are enough knowledgeable people that still answer - it won't matter, but when enough of them stop answering - there won't be good answers to keep this forum trustworthy.

Instead of wasting your time and adding to your post count with wasteful information, why do you skip the thread and move along. You are not being helpful being the forums Dad. There are thousands of posts here and I'm not about to scour them for 2 simple questions that I have, which by the way I did go and look. There are follow up questions that I had as well, that some members, unlike you, have been very courteous in answering. I was wondering how long it would take you to post a useless post, since you seem to be the one bashing and scolding everyone here.

Trust me I wish this was the case. It leaves always files on the main memory and even though I really don't have that many applications the storage left is only 30mb. After a bit of browsing on the web on it, I get running out of space notifier too and I have done both the app2sd and the setinstall location.
Thank you for those who posted with useful info unlike some. Anyway, going back to the topic, I just ordered a class 10 card since mine are only 2 and 4. Did notice quite a few people mentioned that as a must. Now while reading on the CM7 rom, I did notice some saying they have nightlies but have failed to come up with what the heck is it. Any info on that version of CM7?

I guess you didn't read the FAQ after all, otherwise you would have known that all the "courteous members" of the forum that answered you, don't know a thing about A2SD - which wasn't mentioned anywhere in the thread - and all the space that CM7 helps you gain isn't nearly enough for most people with N1. Even using A2SD without Dalvik2SD flag is not enough for most people.
But since you insisted on calling the FAQ "wasteful info" and bashing me personally, instead of actually reading the required minimum - I'll move to other threads, and you'll get your help from others. If you'll find someone willing to help, that is.
The forum also has search for a reason.

[Q] Moto X loosing wifi passwords

Does anyone know how to fix this from happening? I'm running stock odexed rom with faux123 Kernel. It happens with any wifi network. Thanks!

I am also having this problem on stock. I have installed various Xposed modules, as well as Pry-Fi, but nothing seems to be related to the problem.
Edit: Looking at the reviews for Pry-Fi specific to the Moto X, it seems to have some stability issues with this phone. Turning it off has fixed my issue.
Linked Review
I'll try contacting the developer.
Edit 2: Looks like I won't be using Pry-Fi anymore. The app is dead in development. Looks like the project was not enough of a success.

I don't think you understand what Pry-Fi did, because WiFinspect does NOT do what Pry-Fi's main feature was.

Pry-Fi is a hacking tool. That is, it hacks your Android.
From the Pry-Fi Play Store page:
While you are not connected to a Wi-Fi network, the MAC address will constantly be pseudo-randomized, following a pattern that still makes the trackers think you are a real person, but they will not encounter your MAC address again. This will slowly poison their tracking database with useless information.
When you do connect to a Wi-Fi network, unless you specify otherwise, your MAC address will also be randomized - the same MAC address will not be used the next time you connect to this or any other network.

This statement would appear to be correct. My reply was a genuine attempt to help you by sharing an network penetration app that has been useful to me.
Pry-Fi is a hacking tool. That is, it hacks your Android.
From the Pry-Fi Play Store page:
I don't think I would consider changing my MAC address to be 'hacking my Android'. But even if you do, there are multiple MAC address changers available on the market. While they wouldn't randomize your MAC as often as Pry-Fi, they are still useful at concealing one's identity temporarily.

You seem to have gotten -really- excited about this. Looks like similar functionality will be integrated into the next version of iOS:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2014/06/10/ios_wi_fi_mac_address_trick/
The Pry-Fi app was created by one of our most Senior and respected developers here at XDA. It was just released in 2014, and was only ever released as a "proof-of-concept". To call his app "dead in development" and "not enough of a success" is rather insulting. Probably, like many of us, Chainfire only has 24 hours in his day and with family and work, has limited time to spend on such "proof-of-concept" projects.

Why do you think I was saying it wasn't a success? I loved the app. It is well made.. But the discussion was closed, and people were saying "it's dead", so I thought that development had stopped. I wasn't mad at you, or anybody for that matter. Sorry. I need to think about how I'm saying things before posting... seems I was misunderstood.
I didn't mean to insult anybody. I also believe Chainfire is a very respected developer. He made SuperSU, for goodness sakes, not to mention many other heavily successful apps.
And yes, maybe "hacking" is saying too much. I was too quick to reply, and I apologize.

Don't worry about it. I know there's a lot of that out there. My brain explodes on threads I see on the internet where the OP author asks for help with a stupid question, the helpers try to tell them that it isn't possible or doesn't work that way, the author responds with insults and stupidity thinking they know everything, and then flaming ensues... It's dumb.
N00bs will be n00bs, I guess.
I do apologize, myself. I was probably a bit harsh with my first reply to you. I thought you were pointing me to WiFinspect to be a replacement for Pry-Fi. (you said "there are many apps like that, so I thought you were talking about Pry-Fi)
I probably should've looked at your username. If I had, I would've known that you knew what you were talking about. I've seen you around. I would recommend not red-fonting in the future, though. That might make some people think you're yelling at them, to be honest. Just some advice.
I, personally, own everything I love. I know freelance developers don't make much off their apps generally, so developers can count on my contribution, as well as bug reports instead of a Play Store review (honestly, does nobody know the developer can't fix the problem if he/she doesn't experience it themselves?).
I'm ranting here, but I'm just saying that I share your views.
But in any case, was I wrong in assuming that Pry-Fi is dead? I would hope it isn't, because it is an awesome app that also didn't eat that much battery while running in the background. I want to file a bug report, if it isn't dead.

Thanks for the reply. The most recent comment Chainfire has posted regarding Pry-Fi suggests that it is definitely not dead, but that because of other commitments/projects, it probably won't get worked on this summer, unless other Devs wish to develop it further. Good news is that although Chainfire himself admits it had "virtually no interest" (as you mentioned before), the new iOS feature that mimics some of the functionality has somewhat 'renewed' interest in it. I look forward to seeing updates possibly by this Fall. I've heard Chainfire rant about how much of a headache "SELinux" is causing to root app devs. It would seem your speculations about interest level were spot-on, but thankfully Chainfire suggests that he is not giving up on it.
I agree on the red-fonting. I often use red to highlight important steps in many posts, but in this case I do believe it was inappropriate.
And finally, I should apologize to @Swimboy46163 for somewhat 'hijacking' his thread...
