I Recently buyed me an galaxy tab, and i rooted it with z4root and i removed stock home launcher from the rom, and now i decide to make a factory reset.
I rebooted the tab and then after boot i cant do anything ! I dont have any launcher! How do i fix this ?
Thnx: Modstar
Start by posting in the right section : General
First off, wrong forum, should be in general.
Find Rotos thread and follow the instructions carefully.
Sent from my mind. Or a Galaxy Tab
Yes, wrong forum, but just to get you in the right direction:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894763 Is the pre-rooted firmware from rotohammer, you will need this.
Secondly: I recommend the Overcome kernel and rom for your tab, as it's very stable and pretty much just a great rom. You can find it here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894763
In the second thread, go down to the section "IF your Tab does not boot after flashing the kernel and hangs at the Samsung Galaxy Tab screen, you must follow the following procedure" section of the original post and follow the direction exactly as stated.
Okey sorry about that i posted it in wrong section.
Thnx for the answers but i want it to be as if i buyed it from the store.
Than you will have to find the stock rom that came with your device... and depending on the exact model that could vary.

I'm fairly new to the galaxy tab and i'm unsure how to change the rom to cm7 my galaxy tab is a bell one P1000M its un rooted its stock for now so where do i start?
Root with Z4root but don't attempt to get CM7. Its a beta and you need to know how to use Heimdall to flash it.
Sent from inside a whale.
any guide i should look at for using it?

Yes there is plenty of guides.
All roms come with introductions on how to install aswell as guides in teh sticky topics of teh forums.
Before you attempt to do anything to your device sit down and do some research otherwise you will be back here creating a "help I bricked my device urgent help" topic clone of the million others here.

You could read the OP in the CM7 development thread. Especially the part about how incomplete & unstable it is.
Either leave it alone, or flash Overcome instead for now, CM7 is several weeks away from being any use as a daily system.
I have been following the CM7 threads, seems like there is still some work to do to get it working on the tab.
I flashed overcome 1.4.4 and its very very nice. fast and smooth.
This is my first post, apologies if it is in the wrong area, I thought 'General' was pretty safe.
Anyway, I have been scouring the internet looking for ways to back up this all-important EFS folder.
I've come to the conclusion that the Ace does not have such a folder, and also that there seems to be no way to back up the details such a folder would contain...
If that is the case, if not then please direct me to the relevant material, is everyone just risking losing their IMEI number by just flashing ROMs...
Because there seems to be a lot of ROM development and use for the Ace S5830. I am VERY eager to jump on the bandwagon, I am sick of staring at Gingerbread 2.3.6.
Relevant info you may require:
Phone: Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830
Rooted: Yes
Tired: Yes
The Ace IMEI is pretty safe when it comes to flashing ROMs.
Sent from my GT-S5830
I think its safe to flash any rom on ace, because only high end and new devices of samsung comes with that partition
Sent from my GT-S5830
Thanks everyone, I'll proceed to flash CWM and then start flashing these ROMs.
l am new in the rooting and installing the custom roms
i need help on every thing like updating a rom installed a lot
i am using SAMSUNG GALAXY EXHIBIT 4G
For rooting follow the guide in the first post of this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1686384
To install a rom, follow the directions in the first post of any rom you are looking at. All info is on this site, most questions have already been answered. And use the search function when you get stuck. This is how we all learned. Good luck.

First thing you have to do is install CWN recovery, you can find all the info you need in this forum.
Make sure you have the correct Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 4G also, this forum is for the SGH-T679. I think there are a few different versions of the Galaxy Exhibit now. You can check by going to Settings > About phone and looking at the Model number. You can also check the label that's under the battery. It will brick your phone if you flash anything from this forum and you don't have the T679! If you do have the T679 though, follow the link that @Dvarl posted to get started. The version of CWM that is linked there is kind of old, but once you install that you can use it to upgrade to one of the newer versions in the Android Development forum.
The first thing you should do once you get CWM installed is use the backup feature to make a copy of your current stock ROM in case something goes wrong!
All of the custom ROMs should already have root access included. Let us know how it goes.
Why are there so many orphaned versions of this tablet? I just want to put a custom rom on this thing.
I have a Galaxy tab (T-Mobile sgh-t849) is there any cm version work for that?
I see some folks mention Overcome. Any suggestions on where to start as far as recovery and I might be able to go from there. Also, what versions of what ROMs can be installed on mine? I have yet to see anything related to the mentioned model.
NVM, I'll post this in Q&A so it doesn't clutter the dev thread
T849 is exactly like a P1000.
Whatever you read about P1000 applies to you.
