Brothers,
Need ur help to enable power save for wifi ( hence running wifi make battery drain), also how i can stop automatic update service, each time i uninstall the new market its reinstalled again !! I hate it its so bad, also it take a lot of space of device memory.
with thx
Yea, it automatically updates the market and other google apps. WE can stop app form automatically updating by going to My apps and then choose a app and then deselecting the option Allow Automatic Updates --it can be done while installin apps too-- in description or similar. You can try it for market too. But, I don't think we can stop google from updating its system app.

The option allow automatic upgrading is available while installing an app from market.
Go to My Apps> Select a app> Uncheck Allow automatic updates.
I have attached images files if you want to see. Sorry for the zip file didn't have time to post image here.
It is good if you don't want other app to update automatically. Also, I searched for market but it is not there, think the OS manages system apps upgrade. You can search for if you want --may be you will find it.
All the best
Market app will install the update automaticly, no matter how many times you downgrade this app.
Maybe there is way to that, but i don't know how.
For other app, you can open the market app, then press menu button and select My Apps. Choose any apps that you don't want to automatic update, then uncheck the Allow Automatic Updating option.
Hope it help you out.

Hello everyone.
Is it possible to get Market updates on apps that are sideloaded?
Let me start by saying Yes, I Google (and forum) searched for a solution...probably for the better part of 2 hours and I couldn't find an answer.
I recently went from cupcake to CM 4.0.4 (great ROM). But before that, I used ASTRO to back up almost all of my apps to my SD. After flashing, I used ASTRO to restore my apps, but now none of them show in My Downloads in the Market. Also, when I search for an app that's installed on my phone, the Market doesn't recoginze that I have it installed.
Is there anything I can do, or do I have to download them again?
search for "atrackdog" in the market

Market will not care at all about sideloaded apps. It will only update the apps that it has recorded in its local database. Wiping deletes that database. It would definitely be nice if the Market had some kind of bulk reinstall, but you have to keep in mind that the AOSP team never intended for users to wipe their data/cache very often.

i guess learn how the market database works and then add all the entries back into database after reinstall?
aTrackdog is your best bet. I use it all the time and always tells me wehn there are updates for apps on my ext3 partition.

aTrackdog works well for finding the updates & once I install the update, it appears to register to the built-in notification system, but my purchased apps still aren't working.
I'll see what I can figure out about the Market database files & share whatever I find.
Thanks
I'm pathetic because I just goto the market using my wifi connection and search for all my apps and update them manually and then later I get notices. Sure it takes some time and its work, but I don't flash my roms a lot like I used to.
Hey,
I got a replacement G1 because mine speaker broke. I rooted and everything on the new one. I re-partitioned the sd-card and when i go to the market it's still labeled as installed. But they aren't in my pull up menu and if I try to open or uninstall from market, the buttons don't work. I can't click on either open or uninstall...... need help!!!

I hate to 'me too' but I have the same problem. I'm trying to reinstall the Facebook App. I can't find it in my backups but the Market tells me I have, it so I can't install or uninstall it!!
Help me Obi One Kanobi!
What all of you have to do is wipe your ext's. Then re-download the apps.
To avoid this from happening in the future (let's say you switch roms) ...or whatever....
Set up the phone as you normally would (signing in and all that), go to settings > applications > manage applications > CHECK THE BOX THAT SAYS "UNKNOWN SOURCES". This way you're guaranteed to have ALL your apps. Paid and free.
Then and only then do you go to the marketplace > downloads and check your apps. They'll be there.
And if you do have to download any of the apps again, make sure you don't leave the the "download screen", because if you do you'll lose "record" of the apps you had downloaded and will have to re-download them again.
Is there anyone know there's an app on market that helps installing all the apk automatically? like there is an option 'select all' the backup apps then you don have to go install them 1 by 1 manually
Yeah, that would be great to have, closer thing AFAIK would be Titanium Backup
More or less what Appbrain and Appbrain fast web install is supposed to do.
Nokia had a program that did just what you wanted .
Copy programs to a folder tick box and it carried out multiple install .
Nearest i have come is manual install of APK for Android .
jje
It's probably a safety feature to stop apps from installing themselves without permission. I suspect titanium manages it because it has root permission.
See this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970348 an app for this has been made.
is there any application to install apks manually?
Save APK in a folder on phone and manually install each one .
jje
i user appasst it scans the SD card for all apk files and u can tick the ones u want and say install. alot quicker than one by one.
u can even make it only scan one folder.
It can take a while before they show up but will work eventually.

Hi,
I have a notification saying "10.1.A.1.434 New system update available". How to remove this from my notification area?
Its there for some days now. I tried tapping on it to open the system update app, clear, swipe it left & right, tried connecting to PC suite, tried rebooting. And the notification still remains. Please advise. My phone have a unlocked bootloader and is rooted
How about clicking on the "clear" button? or swiping that notification to the left/right?

Android application package file (APK) is the file format used to distribute and install application software and middleware onto Google's Android operating system.
Removing it will make the notification update disappear and the software update below about phone will be gone as well.
1) Go download Titanium Backup
2) Go into the app, scroll down till you find "UpdateCenter.apk"
3) Backup the app, and then remove it.
4) Reboot your phone.

Thanks, that did the trick... Does this affect my other apps from play store. Like, Wont they update themselves (manually/automatically)?
Actually, you can remove it by opening the notification/status bar ( slide from top to bottom ), then open app info and force stop.
The notification will not appear again until the next reboot. You just have to do it once after every reboot.

thats the playstore, i dont think they are related.
For anyone who is interested, the service to stop, freeze, or remove is Google Services Framework.
I just did it - go to Settings / Apps / All and scroll down to Update Center. Remove the Show notifications tick and confirm. That's it!
Just freeze 'System update' from titanium backup (or similar apps).
This is the only %100 solution.
Is it safe to uninstall Software update app, guys? I have only basic Titanium Backup on my rooted Z, so there is no freeze option for me. I've removed some of Sony bloatwear (What's New etc.), and lately there is notification about available updates after every reboot. Force stop solves the issue temporarily, and Show_notification box is uncheckable. In my view, this app shouldn't have any major purpose left, since OTA updates are archived for us... Cheers.

clear the data of that app from settings my friend
Hello friends,
My wife has unsafely and ignorantly updated his settings program through Aptoide update suggestions to an unknown file which made settings nonfunctional.
I wonder if there is anyway to restore original settings back in order.
briefly:
-- tapping settings ----> error: "unfortunately the program has stopped"
-- htc incredible s which has once been updated to ICS, at its first time release I guess.
-- there is no backup software in her phone.
-- everything else sounds functional and in order.
Thanks for your help

When you are in the app drawer, press menu button and select remove apps. Find settings app there, and press the uninstall update.

Thank you,
I opened app drawer and selected remove apps in menu but it gives the same error "unfortunately settings has stopped".
I think there might be some issues with settings core which prevents any settings action. even the quick settings wifi is nonfunctional.
can anybody give me the original "settings" APK of ICS ROM? I want to give it a try reinstalling.
Anyway if I won't be able to manage to repair, what is the best way to back up the data and then how to do hard reset of the system and restore selected apps and data?

Do a factory reset. Go to hboot and you will find the option there. Press Vol down + Power button for going to hboot.

thank you so much.
I did the factory reset, everything is fine. the little thing is that in system update it notifies that a 1.1 MB application update is available but it won't download it no matter how long I wait. is it a must package?

No, I believe it is just a minor update to the HTC Hub app. Nothing serious. :good:
BTW, You're Welcome.
