why don't you update via kies? it updated my 2.2.1 to 2.3.5 without any complains and it was really fast and easy.
And uninstalling/installing a program will not make samsung mad that they brick your phone for it, so no worries mate.
issit safe to update it now?
does it have the hardbrick problem from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633943?

Bricking have no relation with sammobile.com
If bug is present in stock kernel, it can brick from where ever you download and however you flash.
You can take this rom from xda

let me rephrase his question. Does the N7000DXLP9 rom has a buggy kernel that will cause the brick? Or this one's already safe? Wondering this as well

LP9 is not safe, the bug is not fixed. I am not taking any risk to upgrade that...

There has been several bricking reports on LP9, therefore, it's not safe.

Agreed with you. Sammobile just share the stock firmware.

Definitely no problem. I downloaded my stock roms from there and nvr had a problem.
The problem they mention is because they upgrade to ICS and change back to GB, and i don have any intention of downgrading it.
I feel good about this latest update, nothing bad happen to me, and the new S Note is so nice.
Hi,
I just checked p970 firmwares and i saw this :
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGKU5900/AKTFTL/V20t_00/V20T_00.kdz
It seems to be a new version of GB, but maybe the battery drain from v20Q is corrected...
Could anyone test it (I can't due to my immediate need of my phone)
but basically, Q version is not an asian fw. so maybe this new T is the same as Q but for asia...
Yes maybe,
But what i've not seen is that this firmware is made for KTF, so i doubt it is open for other SIM cards...
if a device is unlocked, a branded FW shouldn't affect that

FW simlock doesn't exist on Android ?
it's device related, FW version doesn't matter
Ok, i didn't know
Is there something new?
yea, if you would, you may flash a sfr branded FW over your orange FW

I don't think it would brick your phone as I'm currently using a KU5900, and flashed p970's v20o. just don't flash the radios..

You have to make sure the new firm is kies ready or not.

don't stress yourself about soft bricking your phone it is repairable
take the time to search through the various forum sections that are some useful "how to" guides on installing / upgrading your phone's firmware

Well said. Also, Odin isn't some homemade crappy software. It's acually a samsung flash tool made by samsung.
If it can't be updated by kies its probably OTA update.
Go to Settings > About Phone > Software update (or simmilar, i use Croatian language so idk exact name in english).

chances are your phone is in a region that has not been given the latest firmware update yet
this is fairly common
your best bet is to use odin and do a manual update to the latest firmware version
make sure you pick the right one for your model of phone

Good that you didn't proceed and asked. You could have bricked the phone.

Yeah . I almost didin't messed up my friends phone
Do you know when the jb update is coming out for I9070P?
Nobody knows.
The situation is quite deplorable really. Even non NFC model has got the update in only two markets. So it is anyone's guess when your friend's phone will get JB.
