installed CM7.1, updated the latest nightly over it (#150), worked for about 10 minutes, then started boot-looping, then got stuck on the boot logo.
i know i can probably wipe data and fix this, but i want to backup the apk files as i had a lot of apps on there and don't want to download them again from scratch as i don't even remember what i had.
i can still get to CWM 5, so i wondered if its possible to get to the apks through recovery somehow?
edit: nvm gonna restore from the nandroid

Hi everyone,
I'm using ICS333 ROM.
Yesterday I installed an app (it was XMBC for android), and it gave me an FC. So I restarted hoping that will fix it.
What it did was getting me stuck at ROM boot animation. I managed to reflash the ROM and it worked, but then, downloaded that app again (thought that maybe it did not work because I changed my DPI). I then tried to reflash the ROM again but this time the phone did not boot.
I tried flashing Devil kernel and using the Aroma file manager to delete the app's apk from the folder /data/app but this did not work.
Fourtently I had a nandroid backup which I restored, though I wanted to avoid it because it was somewhat old.
What I wanted to ask is, if there was something else I could have done, so that if it happens again I would be smarter in the future.
Thank you.
I forgot to mention - I also tried accessing safe mode but without success. Has anyone succeeded in going into safe mode in ICS?
So today my phone was on and everything was fine, then while I was charging it, went away from it a few minutes then came back it was on the boot menu. It now can not get past the boot menu ever.
I have ClockWork Mod recovery installed, and CM7.1 stable.
I did a "backup" via the ClockWork Mod Recovery of the system.
I am also quite tempted to get the CM9 RC2 installed. But screw it if it any kind of unstable. CM7.1 stable is unstable enough.
What should I do? I would prefer it if I did not lose all my stuff (like app notes etc).
Can I like just put my phone into Download Mode, place the CM9 RC2 on the root folder, then do the good old

If you have done a "backup" from CWM before the failure just restore that.
From CWM menu try to do a dalvic and cache clean up. also clear init.d and nstool settings and try to reboot
If you want to be more adventurus and loose your contacts, sms, settings...and other stuff from CWM do full wipe and cache and dalvic and then install your favorite rom.
I tried to installthe Gnexus port rom jr03l 4.1.1 rc 10. I was on TAJB'S Jellybean rom with devil kernel. I tried to install the rom as per the instructions given. I did a nandroid backup of the current rom before attempting to do so. The flash failed as the phone rebooted into recovery after a few minutes. I tried to restore from my nandroid backup. That failed too and it came up with a message of "no free space". I rebooted the phone and the phone automatically tried to flash the gnexus port rom again. It failed rebooted and got stuck on the devil kernel screen.
After about 20 mins, i took the battery out and rebooted into recovery. I really dont know where to go from here. I need to backup my efs folder too somehow.
I have a flash zip of the gnexus port rom, the tajb rom and a cm9 nightly in my internal sd card. I also have a nandroid backup of my cm9 rom.
Any help will be greatlyy appreciated!!!
Please help me.

Hey I have an optimus 2x.
i was running stock gingerbread on my rooted device. the other night i installed rom manger and downloaded CWM straight from there for my phone. it was version 6. something. i booted into recovery. made a nandroid backup(into the external memory of the phone) . then awhile later for some small reason i restored that same backup, which restored but it sent my phone into boot loop. the lg logo just flashes on and off.
i then heard that i may have installed the wrong CWM so i put another version of recovery onto an sd card and flashed it onto my phone.
cwm-based recovery v5.0.2.7
Now i have this recovery but when i try to restore that same backup it restores it really quickly and says it cant find a bunch of stuff.
i tried to put cynogenmod on the sd card but my phone doesnt give me the option anymore to install zip from external sd.
i have been reading and reading. currently i am on your thread called full brick repair.
i just dont know which way to go. i cant even find a stock ROM. the links i found are broken. I am in canada. its a fido phone.
i have tried A lot.
ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED . Thank you.
Now you have older version, when backup have been made by newer version. You have to flash newer version of CWM and then wipe data, system and restore backup. It will work
If you want to back to stock, use nvflash toolkits that are floating around here.

The reason i installed the older CWM is because my phone kept bootlooping after restoring the backups
ANYWAYS, i manged to flash the latest cm10 andGapps on my phone. its a bit laggy
what i am trying to do tho is use setDNS an app. to change my dns settings in order to get the american content from netflix.
setdns has superuser permisions and all but i still get the canadian version of netflix.
i think its because of CM10, what should i do?
I'm currently running the latest emmc nightly with trim kernel. While it's quite stable, I do get random reboots from time to time and the wifi is not very stable. So last night I tried downgrading it back to the 07/10 build, which is supposed to be the most stable, but it got stuck in the boot loop. I've made sure to flash the right Gapps and wiped the dalvik/cache, uncheck the launcher wallpaper checkbox, but it still won't boot. I then flashed the latest emmc nightly and it boots just fine. Has anyone managed to successfully downgrade to 07/10 and fix the dreaded boot loop problem without losing all the apps/data? I considered trying doing the Titanium app/data backup + flash 07/10 + factory reset + restore backup, but I'm not sure if that would actually work? Open to any suggestions, thanks in advance!
Anyone? Pretty please!

Titanium Backup Pro can extract apps+data from CWM & TWRP backups. Maybe you can make a nandroid backup of your /data partition, clean flash, and then try restoring through TiBa?
Also, I think restoring all of /data should be almost safe, as most of it is user-installed apps anyway. The only conflict would come from any system settings you've changed, which might conflict with an older builds.
hi all, i made an xda account because i really cant understand whats going on with my phone
HTC One M8 running Android 6.0 (rooted)
so after rooting my phone, i proceeded to install xposed.
i flashed the zip - no problem
i installed the apk, and after choosing 4/5 modules that i wanted, i went ahead and enabled them all and rebooted to activate them.
this is where the problems started. my phone booted, however it kept on flashing a screen with the deafult One M8 wallpaper at me. after a few seconds, it came up with an error "com.android.systemui has stopped"
not sure what was going on, i went to twrp and directly restored my nandroid backup, but after waiting for 15 mins, i realised my phone was in bootloop, so i went back to twrp and did a factory reset and restored my nandroid. but again, it went into bootloop. i tried factory resetting and restoring 3 times before giving up.
my phone isnt connecting to my laptop anymore either, but if i need to flash anything i can do it with my sd card.
im not a complete noob but im still learning and ive never not been able to restore my nandroid.
thanks in advance for any help i can get

*. Flash xposed uninstaller zip and try booting your device. Link here - http://dl-xda.xposed.info/framework/uninstaller/
-->> use thisĀ» make a full wipe from recovery, then restore nandroid backup.
*.While restoring nand. from recovery, make a full wipe like wipe system etc.. Then restore your nand. Then you're good to go.
thanks a ton for your reply
i already tried flashing the uninstaller - didnt work
but ill try your second method. thanks once again

Hey, the 1st one won't works, Cuz you'd already did a factory data reset, so that's gonna be won't work. And you'd tried restoring nandroid over that, so that's failed.
I hope second one will works.

Deym!!
So, look at the One m8 forums, you'll get the workarounds.
I've found one here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/ht...k-twrp-t3086860?_e_pi_=7,PAGE_ID10,5801529172
@chaitra26, either DL any custom ROMs and flash it via custom recovery [Twrp].
Look here for custom ROMs - https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/development?
Regarding that '' no OS installed'' error, that's common when you try to reboot your device from twrp without installing any system images /ROMs.
FYI - when you full wipe your device and tries to power up you'll get the same warning.
