Update: ICS Version Added...
Nothing new, just themed the version from the ICS port that's running around out there, just a new version number. I think that some of the colors from the tabs and stuff is a little different, but maybe not. Anyhow, grab GenieWidget(ICS).zip. The old ones for Gingerbread will work with ICS as well
*************************************************************************************************
Like many others, I've made GenieWidget News and Weather transparent - but, I've switched the icons, so it looks a little better. The app itself is not transparent, but the widgets are.... flash in recovery... blah, blah, blah.
Oh, and I'm not responsible for anything - ever - that might happen to your phone, your life, your family, anyone or anything that may or may not be connected to you as a result of flashing this zip. Enjoy!
You can grab the Muisc app from Ice Cream Sandwich that I made transparent here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18528649#post18528649
**EDIT**
If you're running a white or light colored background, I've added a new zip for that. white_geniewidget.zip. No other changes, just black text where it was white. Enjoy!
**EDIT**
Now with original icons. Just grab the transparentgeniewidget_orig.zip. Enjoy!

I tried pushing it through root explorer and tried the zip through recovery and both times the widget looked like this.

That's strange? Not sure what's going on there, what ROM?

Working great here. I just flashed the zip. Thanks!
NS4G NSCollab Sprint 1.0.51, Matr1x 8.0+, Caelum Theme

Hmmm. I just deleted the app from system/app and tried flashing the zip and still didn't work. I am running CyanogenMod 7.1.0.1 stable Nexus S 4G.

So I flashed CyanogenMOD and then flashed the geniewidget zip. The image below is what I get. I'm running Nexus S 4G as well, so now I'm really stumped. Unless it has to do with the theme? How does the original GenieWidget look on your screen? If you'd like, you can upload it and I'll make that one transparent.

Theme Chooser themes sometimes effect transparent genie widgets. I've had that issue using a different version of trans genie with certain themes.
Currently running what's in my sig and everything is just fine.
NS4G NSCollab Sprint 1.0.51, Matr1x 8.0+, Caelum Theme

Thanks for this and the music widget they're both great my only question is would it be possible to have a clear version with the stock icons? I don't care about the widget but I like the cartoon ones in the app.

That's probably what it is. I am running matted blues from the theme chooser. Man that sucks. I like having my news headlines on my homescreen. Oh well. Good job on the theming and keep it up. The community appreciates it.

I updated the OP with a new zip.. transparentgeniewidget_orig.zip.

I get installation aborted when trying to flash through recovery. Any ideas? These widgets looks great and I really want them on my phone
***update*** Ignore. Just had bad downloads. Re-downloading now Thanks for the great widgets.

That sucks... Do you have Root Explorer or something similar? You can just pull the APK from the zip file and copy it to your SD card. Then use Explorer to copy the APK to the system/app folder. You'll need to fix the permissions and reboot the phone, but it should work after that.
In Root Explorer, long press the GenieWidget.APK after you copy it to system/app and pick Permissions. You want Read access for Owner, Group, and Others and then Write access to Owner. All other checkboxes should be unchecked.
Let me know if that is an option for you and if it worked, otherwise I may look at the ZIP and see if I can change it?

Thanks for the zip! Im running the ICS theme though so its not transparent for me (its transparent in the Cyanbread theme)
Maybe we could talk sonnysekhon to keeping the Genie Widget out of the theme:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310925
The theme doesnt effect the music widget oddly enough

ty, messed around with this and it makes my nexus s look great.

This widget works perfectly with the alpha Ice Cream Sandwich roms.

I added an ICS version to the OP. The old ones should work with ICS as well, but this is just the latest version of the app.
Music app is on it's way.

Thanks for the awesome work, love the widget!

wew.. greate.... i really like this.. i will try first

3 Place the folder named Lucid-Froyo Into the folder located on your sdcard called "AndroidThemes"
4 Install using Metamorph and like all Metamorph themes if your phone reboots after applying somthing before it reached the last file theme, than start from where it left off and do it one by one.

There are two ways to install my theme.
1. Carbonite.apk must be installed through astro file manager or like file manager, once installed it must be applied through the theme chooser app.
2. Pick a theme appropriate to the version of CM7 you are running (RC or Nightly) This must be flashed through recovery just like the Rom and must be flashed after flashing the Rom.
If you are having trouble you might need to wipe dalvik cache.

Thanks for the theme, it does work on RC1, except a few things don't work the way it should, like the bottom of the curtain is still the same, not carbonite, 2G/3G/H and the reception bars turn sometimes white and after a while they turn blue again. I'm not complaining, not even asking you to change something, just saying because the theme is for RC2, so I take it as it is. RC2 has some issues RC1 doesn't have some that's why I skipped it. I will enjoy fully your with RC3 I guess.
Thanks again

Thanks for the update. Now is there only the zip version? If yes, could you include the honeycomb fauxbatt in your next release? I doesn't work very well with metamorph, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.
f.
After much consideration I have decided not to make flashable themes anymore. The apk for the T-mobile theme engine will be used from now on. It has been a concern by some people how this will affect the lock screen theme as well as other things. I will include a metamorph theme to apply to fix this too.
The advantage to using this method is that I can include things like inclusive skins for paid apps such as Fancy Widgets, Launcher Pro Plus.
The other advantage is that from now on if you update CM7 you do not have to wait for me to update the theme since you already have it, the only extra effort on your part is to re-apply the MM theme.
I hope this will be good foe everyone. At this time I have a few issues I am trying to work out. The main one being the dialer. The theme engine doesn't like to resize the images so it looks bad. My proposition is to add a poll for now to get your ideas. Please vote HERE so I can know what you would like best. For now try the apk and let me know what you think.

yes me too. very much. i like simple, dark, matted, unbeveled, farily monochromed themes.
if you could make sure the selection dots colors match the volume bar, etc colors that'd be great! like if you have a blue vol bar like you do, make the selection dots blue too. not green.

Alright everyone! Put these together and put them in a flashable zip for you!!
I have tested this on SRF 1.1.1, Frankenstein and AnonymousRom V7 and it works perfectly.
Now Working on EC05 AND EE03.
There are two zips that can be flashed through clockwork *no wipes necessary*
One is just the icons and the other is a themed Touchwiz 3 launcher that only has the home button themed.

Really?? a lot of fc's? Or just certain apps? I only tested on Syndicate so I will test to get it to work on frankenstein as well.
You would have to delete any apps out of the system/app folder in that theme zip so they don't overwrite the current apps that are themed.
Cool trying now

Just tested on Frankenstein... and it works great. Glad you got the fc's to stop though... it had to have been juice defender i guess.

I can confirm it to be working on EE03 with the TouchWiz 4 Launcher...
Sorry. I didn't expect this to happen, I'm surprised right now.
EDIT: DO NOT FLASH ON EE03:
Force Close;
Phone
MyFiles
Other Bugs;
Graphics in Messaging App and Contacts apps are messed up.
Other then that, looks good.

It is not, no. TW3 with themed application button.
And it doesn't effect the battery icon at all. It's just themed icons and launcher

I have no intention of porting this to other ROMs, unless I change ROMs myself, but I don't see that happening. Feel free to port this yourself if you're up to it, just please link back here

Not sure what you mean by title_bar..... Are you talking about the in the App where it tells you what App you're in? Like Messaging with the icon to the left?
I can confirm this also works on vhgomez36 r3 w/ his notification power toggles. wiped cache & dalvic & flashed over the hcs theme I was running.

Its all in the style. Those white apps use a "holo.light" style. So, you want them to only use holo...
Hope that makes sense.

Thanks bro, do u mind me porting this to my device and share?
I have a 4G model, which I'm pretty sure this theme supports Sprint's 4G
Tried this on the leaked Android 4.0.4 ICS and endless loop. I tried wipe Dalvik and endless loop, tried wipping dalvik and cache and still undelss loop. Then I tried the Wipe all, still endless loop. I tried to wipe everything and reflash the ROM and the this and no matter what I do it seems like an endless loop.
I'm guessin it just isn't supported by the 4.0.4?

Yes, this is for Nexus S 4G (Sprint). However, it's built from AOSP's oICS ROM, which is currently Android 4.0.3. Which is why in the OP, it's listed as BlueHolo for oICS. If you're not running oICS, it may not work. Chances are, it won't. Especially if you're flashing over a different Android version.
I hope you can get your phone back...
