is ics rom compatible to salsa if made?
that depends on what its built on...sure there are many around, like my xperia x8 for instance, they not long brought out ics to run on it....very buggy though no wifi etc.
takes a lot of building to make an ics rom, so it will take awile to geet one fully made up bug free
On that note. why aren't there ant CM7 ports?also the sense builds churning out now are all on 2.3.3 while the latest version is2.3.7
Anyway there is a wildfire S/salsa rom in the development forum. the creator just puts some salsa bits into it to get it working on the salsa.cant the same be done for CM7 since the wildfire S already has it?

er...NO lol, im helping with dev of that sense rom...and its not easy....latest gingerbread is 2.3.5 is the furthest available at minute on the salsa+
., and as for cm7.....it would be nice.....but we lack in other areas before cm7 can be ported.
like im testing kernels out.....each time failed...again from wildfire s
wildfire s roms made for salsa....failed
we are where we are at the minute.....please dont ask for something we haven't even got a dev for!

ICS Update for USA 8.9 Wifi 7310 now available on sammobile
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH Finally!!!!!!!!!!
Soon our devices will BE PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
im quit jelous .. did u try it? come on share it? what changes on it?
Yeah!
I predict a frenzy today /this week on the forum
Hope it fixes battery trouble from the ported versions.
Funnily enough im running one of the 7500 ports and got just over 6 days of up time, with my normal moderately light use.
Does that mean you have not charged it yet, since the ported ICS was put on? My battery problems started only after 1st or 2nd recharge
Its been charged since and the projected life for this cycle is over 5 days currently.
An update is also available via Kies this morning as well for the 8.9. Updating now.
---------- Post added at 06:33 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:08 AM ----------
I performed the Kies update and the 8.9 is now on 4.0.4!
However, like my other Samsung tablet that was updated to ICS, the Touchwiz homescreens resets itself. So, if your using Touchwiz as the default homescreen, all your widgets and icons are gone and you'll have to set them back up again.
---------- Post added at 06:34 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:33 AM ----------
Oh BTW, my first thing is to go to the Play store and download Chrome!!!

Odin update keeps user data (downloaded apps, and their data)??
I have a rooted 7310 with TWRP and AOKP, so I'm not sure how I would install the new stock Samsung ROM. Certainly Kies won't do it.
Anyone able to help?

I'm running this ROM on my Captivate and love it. I need to get my post count up before I can post in the development section, but that's not what this post is about.
I was running Cyanogen 10 on the cappy, and loved that. But I also want to share the love and I've had AoCP CP3~The Collective installed for a while and think it's a keeper. When I was running CM10, I would go out about once a week to the nightlies site and download the newest ROM and test that. Where do I go to find the most up-to-date version of AoCP CP3~The Collective?
Thanks in advance for helping me out, and to the developers who spend their time on keeping this old device "recent". :good:

The main page of their thread should get you what you need. A lot of the Rom's I've seen don't do nightlies that are available to everyone. They usually only release updates as they add features and the Rom is mostly bug free and usable.
Thanks, I was wondering if they were doing that. I just got a little suspicious when the file date hadn't changed for a while. Now that I know, I'll just keep downloading the file to see if the date changes.
Thanks again for the assistance!

You don't have to keep downloading the file just keep an eye on the thread posts and the op. We will update the op when new builds are released.
Also be on the lookout for a q&a so peeps with 10 posts or less can ask questions in there.
Every since I downloaded the first CM10 my Captivate has the cmupdater in the system settings under phone. All I have to do is click on "check new versions", and it has shown me the latest nightlies nearly every 24 hours. Otherwise I use Rom Manager from the play store. So far so good with the CM10. I'm loving it! Now just have to keep upgrading apps such as Google just did with their search engine because the Mod is ahead of the app builders. Thanks soooo much to the Cyanogen Team for such reliable builds!!!

Apologies for the fairly noobish question, but I am trying to track down some good ROMS for the G-Note, preferably a vanilla style JB with S-Pen support. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks in advance
nothing with the samsung apps of Smemo or snote. only work with TW... JB roms has other apps that might work with spen

Yeah I like Touchwiz and the Samsung apps (s-memo, photo editor, s planner...) so I'm holding out for a Jelly Bean build with all of 'em. I've been searching around and haven't found one yet.
I am not sure if Paranoidandroid Utaka has pen support. I've been using this rom for quite some time and love it. It seems very vanilla JB. I had to manually install Gapps (install zip) and Maps (Google Play).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1871713
There are no stock JB ROMs for the N7000 yet.
That said, all Jelly Bean ROMs (CM10-based) support the S Pen, but you need to find your own apps for using it, like Jotter: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.intulon.android.jotter
Spen apps from samsung rely on TouchWiz framework, so as yet there are none available until samsung release the jb update. There are alternative apps that'll work with cm based roms such as cm10 and paranoid android as mentioned above, but none of them support Touchwizz and never will do.

Hello fellow xda'ers.
For some reason I can't get 3g to work whenever I try an ics rom.
I checked vpn and all looks good so I don't think that's it. Running Alliance ics final.
what do you mean by "whenever i try an ICS rom"?
does it work with other ROMs?
Yes works flawless when I use my GB nandroid.
once in ICS, may be remove your APN settings and confirm it with your provider and reenter then and see
You mean delete the one I have now and make new one with correct settings? Worth a shot, not having 3g keeps me from staying on ics.
I'll try it, keep you posted, thanx for your help!
yes yes. sometimes upgrading the rom messwith the APN settings.. or try the latest TW JB rom XXLSA
Yeah. Try tw jb xxlsa. But use lsa2. Lsa7 seems still not stable.
That's what I have tried on my friend phone.

Well so far still no go on my 3g issue. I noticed an exclamation mark on my lockscreens right under the name of my provider, anyone know what that means.
