Daily Steals has Nook Color for $134.99 + $4.99 shipping. I have not purchased
from them but the cheapest I have seen for the Nook Color.
You beat me to it!
I had posted this a little bit ago in the "members found deals" of the market place.
I've ordered from dailysteals before with no issues!!
The link is http://www.dailysteals.com/?utm_sou...1_Tuesday_5_Deals_10_17_2011&utm_medium=email
I thought i was going to break the news... maybe next time.
Yep, the time to sell my NC was 2 months ago
Beat me too. Got my 3rd from them 2 weeks ago for $149! Took my son to B and N to get a gel case.. still $250. Amazing. She did hint that there would be a price change in a few weeks.
This nook color offer says "90 day warranty". The one I ordered 2 weeks ago from steals said "1 year warranty". Why the change or just a misprint?
B and N brought down the refurb ones on EBay to 149$ free shipping...
Daily steals says:
What You Get:
Barnes & Noble NOOK Color
Factory Refurbished
1 Year Warranty
Ridiculously good deal. Almost as good as the BlackBerry Playbook I got for $100 last week lol.
For that price, I'm tempted to get a second nook.

Playbook? Where from?
Stay away from DailySteals!!!
I ordered a NC on Sept 30.
Oct 6 showed a UPS tracking number.
No updates since then.
Last communication (after several e-mails) I had was on Sunday Oct 16 that they were "looking into it".
Nada since then. They don't answer their phones. E-mails get an auto response claiming they will respond within 1-2 business days, then nothing. Absolutely the WORST customer "service" I have ever encountered!
i bought one from them a week ago for 167 crap...
Yeah, dailysteals shipping is ridiculously slow, took like 2.5 weeks to receive mine. And you can't cancel it once it ships.
Not exactly a daily steals fanboy, but I bought my NC from them. It took a couple of weeks to get it...but no drama. Rooted it with CM7 and 15 minutes later...good to go. Had to alter the build.prop for Netflix. Everything good so far.

They *finally* admitted that mine was "lost in transit" and will refund my money.
I got my wife and I's last night. I have her running CM7 off of microSD card, and I installed to internal memory. Everything went smoothly and the performance of both is great. Both overclocked to 1.2 Ghz.
Got in on the deal, received mine last evening... haven't had time to hack it properly yet, but guess what's going to happen when I get home tonight?
And yes, they took 8 days to ship, and it was another 4 or so in transit.
DailySteals is a bloody nightmare. Took forever to ship, and then to the wrong
address (not even the right state).
They do not answer their emails unless you start a paypal claim which I have, since
it has been over 2 weeks, and there is no chance I will ever receive it.
After all the hassle with Daily Steals (they actually *did* process the refund), I finally got around to ordering one for $139 with free shipping from buy.com. Ordered yesterday; UPS tracking shows delivery tomorrow.
Buy.com has them for $139 and free shipping

I went to and called 10 different stores yesterday, and couldn't find Nook in the NE Atlanta area :-(. Only one I found was from someone trying to sell one a month old for 267.00 but its was raining and he didn't want to meet because of weather =(. Really can't wait til valentines day. Oh yeah even Amazon has them @ 281 + shipping, lol did xda drive up demand?

The recall turned out to be a rumor. They're just moving inventory around.
I live near the Mall of Georgia and the BN there had them in stock last time I checked a week or so ago.
Yes, after christmas they dropped the sony readers and started carrying the nook. That is where i bought mine.
our walmarts here dont carry nooks. our B&N has a whole cabinet full of them though
Yeah, my local BNs seem to have enough to go around. When I checked about a week ago, they said "we have plenty!", and I bought one from them

The WalMart near me in Alpharetta has had them before Christmas. My wife said that a few weeks ago they stopped having them. Probably B&N prioritizing selling through their own stores first.
The one at the forum on peachtree parkway (peachtree corners) had them last week.
You could call and check.
It was one that was never updated. 1.0.0 out of the box.
DailySteals.com has the Nook Color for $150 today only. Cheapest price yet! If you're on the fence (like I was), this will do it!

Please put "Factory Refurbished" on the title.
Anybody received theirs?
Here's my story:
Order placed 9/30.
Tracking number issued 10/6 (OK, fair enough; they claim within 6 business days). UPS shows "A UPS shipping label has been created . . . ". That means the shipper has done the UPS paperwork, but not yet actually shipped the item.
Today is 10/12, still shows the same. I chatted with support rep yesterday, she said she had no information and I should e-mail "[email protected]" so they could "check with the warehouse".
E-mail sent yesterday, received automated acknowledgement, but have heard NOTHING since then. When I call, I get an automated message that they will be closed on Thursday and Friday, and reopen on Monday.
Sooo, has anyone else ordered from them and actually received their Nook?
Yes. Got mine today. As did a friend who ordered the same deal.
For some reason, it shipped UPS to my town, then was handed over to the USPS for delivery. That's a new one on me.
I picked one up from Overstock. It looked brand new. No problems or dead pixels. This is the way to get a Nook Color. My only concern is if you have some issue you have to mail it in instead of just returning it to a local store.
I also ordered it Sept. 30th from dailysteals.
It arrived Oct. 12th.
Screen was perfect, everything worked as expected.
Apart from taking crazy long to ship, I'm happy so far.
Okay, it looks like they lost mine
I'll just have to wait until they reopen on Monday. At this point, though, they have to rank as one of the *worst* sites I have ever dealt with in terms of responsiveness (I know, I know; "you get what you paid for").

Yeah. Shipping is pretty horrendous. I'm STILL waiting as UPS sent it to USPS without scanning it, so it's a ghost in the system. It sat in a warehouse for around 3 days. Hope you guys are enjoying your devices. I'll probably have UPS pay for mine since they lost it. There goes my deal.

I ordered mine from this site on 9/30 (at about 10 minutes till midnight). Like others here, it seemingly took forever for them to hand the package off to UPS, who shipped it 99% of the way and then handed it off to the USPS for final delivery. Mail was unusually late today, it didn't come until around 5pm, but they did have my order. All told, it took 2 weeks from ordering to final delivery. Granted, the shipping was free, but it was the slowest shipping I have ever had the displeasure to use.

Anyone else in the same boat? Have you gotten the email from the escalation team yet? If so, how long did it take for them to contact you?
I am still waiting for the email the rep on the phone told me about last night. I explained that my speaker is too low compared to my GFs N7 and he mentioned a lot of people were complaining about this with the 16GB versions (go figure). He said that they'll ship me a new one and will send packaging labels to return this one. He said I should expect an email from Google some time this week and after that they'll send me the replacement with 1-day shipping. Is this accurate?
At least I can play around with the N7 for the time being. However, it's quite annoying knowing ill have to redo all my setup again. Só many apps, layout changes, settings changes, etc.
Oh well...
PS - Today at work I compared the screens between my 16GB and my coworkers 8GB and his was noticeably brighter when maxed out. Weird and sad that there is another thing I need to worry about now. I guess I expected these QC issues from Asus as an original Transformer owner.

Nice! Wish they would fulfill my order before sending you a second one though... no offense.
I don't really mind the wait for my replacement. I just want some confirmation that they'll indeed be doing it. Don't want to run out of my grace period without getting to test out the second unit.
I'm sure you'll be getting yours soon.
6pm tonight will be 48 hrs since I contacted them, I don't have high hopes of getting a proper 2nd email.
I called them on Tues about the lifted screen and I got an email from them earlier today about getting a replacement. It seems that I will have to order a new unit (my card will be AUTH but not charged) and then the replacement in. They need to get the device within 21 days so that my card doesn't get charged. I've already placed the order through a special URL and now just waiting to see when they will ship.

I ordered early but changed it from 8 to 16gb on the 12th, so I have another week to go. They wouldnt honor my original order date despite giving them more money.

I contacted them on Tuesday sadly only a few hours after getting my N7. My speaker is defective as well, and like you said when I brought it up they mentioned its been coming up lately. Same deal, told me they would ship out a new one for me within 24hrs however they didn't mention anything about 1 day shipping. That would be great.
Just under 24hrs later last night I received two emails back including the return shipping label info and another with a link to a custom play store checkout with my 16gb replacement. I put in my order via the link they gave me but I was greeted with an error on the next page, however I promptly received an email confirming my order so I guess it went through anyways.
All that's left now is waiting to see when it ships..
I hope it's soon.

I called Tuesday night (and I emailed them Tuesday afternoon). My Nexus 7 arrived with a cracked screen.
I just received the email from google. They sent me a RMA and a prepaid shipping label. There's also a link to have them send me a replacement unit.
The link takes me to my google wallet account, with a new 16 GB in the cart. They don't charge shipping or tax, but put a hold for $249 on your credit card. I have 21 days to return the defective Nexus 7.
I'm a little worried that I am basically buying a new Nexus 7, and not getting priority over someone who ordered today. If I have to wait 3-4 weeks, I will feel like google mislead me about this Nexus 7 replacement process.

Same thing through office Depot. They do next day shipping though but they do that ludicrous credit card hold. Probably the dumbest thing I've ever heard of and makes me not want to order online anymore. Walking into a store you don't pay shipping nor get a hold on your card. Very very inconvenient.

My issue is that there are many other online vendors that handle things fine... mainly Amazon.com. How google is handling this issue is terrible. "oh man, phones are getting flooded, TAKE DOWN THE SUPPORT NUMBER FROM OUR WEBSITE"
I have said this in other threads.... This is the last time I ever buy a device straight from google. Hardware issues can't be their fault 100%, stuff happens... It's how they are handling the problems that is frustrating.

This is what they told me that would happen. I'm still waiting for the RMA email but at least they are sending them out.
Bad news if you're technically buying a new one at zero price. Here in the UK, they've said that pre orders from June 30th are shipping next week, so I'm looking at a week Monday shipment at the earliest. Over a month since the initial order!
On a related note, just how low is this "low speaker volume" problem? I'd say mine isn't the loudest tablet ever, and now I'm wondering if it's possible to get one with louder volume. I have a tiny bit of screen separation and was going to keep mine (everything else is fine, and my screen's just the tiniest bit higher on the left than the right). However, if the volume is lower than it should be...
Also, anybody notice headphone volume also isn't very loud? Just loud enough to be acceptable, but not loud enough to be too loud. I'm used to devices starting to get too loud at about 75%.

Soon to be former HTC Flyer owner here. I just ordered my 16GB Nexus 7 today. I had just paid $200 for my Flyer in February, and to be honest it was a great tablet hardware wise but ruined by lackluster support by HTC. It hit EOL status way too soon, and got cut off from support at honeycomb. I spent the last month debating whether or not to keep it or cut my losses and get a Nexus 7 and Finally Monday I decided I'm not happy with the Flyer, it didn't live up to my expectations, so on Ebay it went. Haven't sold it yet, but decided to go ahead and charge the Nexus 7 before they sell out again.
Very excited and looking forward to receiving it! BTW how long does it take for google to process and ship the order?
i ordered my nexus late afternoon on monday, and it is suppose to arrive tomorrow according to the trackingt number from UPS. So i am gonna guess 3-4 days.

How on earth has Google lied about 2 day shipping?
I assume that you have ordered online before and are aware that means delivery is 2 days from when it is shipped and not 2 days from when you click the order button...
If you have never ordered anything online before then please excuse my sarcasm....

?? There is a difference between when you Order it and when they ship it. When they ship it, it is 2 day business delivery. It may however take more than 2 days before the ship the unit from your order.
I think they did great. When I ordered it July 19th, the order page said ETA 3-4 WEEKS.... They shipped it 6 days later, and it arrived within 2 business days of the shipping date.
The only people who seem to have had issues with shipping had...
o Problems with Customs, not much Google can do about that
o Shipping issues with UPS, again, it is out of their hands once they hand it off.
From what I've seen, Google has refunded shipping costs when this happened which is just about all they can do.
They are not "lieing" .... and are not lying either.
Woa....
Sorry didn't mean to get everyone riled up. Just don't quite understand what 2 day shipping means from Google. I've been ordering stuff online for over 10 years. Just sayin 2 day shipping from say newegg would mean ordering yesterday would get me my stuff by Friday.
But from what I've seen it sounds like the 2 day shipping is actually 3 to 5 days so no that doesn't make much sense.
Sounds like they just aren't providing all the details like processing time etc. Sorry I just hate waiting on shipping! I have planned on buying it from a store until I read about the warranty.
Sent from my De-Sensed HTC Vivid using Tapatalk 2
that's because they ship same day. 2day shipping only applies to the time it spends in transit by a carrier. Processing and handling time is a different story. if you order say, a custom computer from dell, you can get 3-5 days shipping but it takes them a week to build it. so the system will arrive to its destination a week + 3-5 days.
tldr: shipping time =/= ETA. Handling & processing is not calculated in shipping time.
EDIT: you also have to consider the terms and conditions of the shipping service. most of them are business days only and some are based purely on time spent in transit regardless of it being a business day or not.

When it's here I won't care. Sorry didn't want to start off my first official post with the community on a bad note. Trust me I know Google is a Web product company not a physical product company so things might take longer and shipping is going to cost more than say amazon who ships out millions of products every day. And the petition for the. $14 shipping charge is just lunacy! I went through the play store because the warranty service is better and you get a $25 Google play credit. I'm sure the wait and the shipping charges will be worth it over buying it directly from a retailer.
Google is my favorite company, and this will be my 4th android device, love the os. Sorry again if I offended

With the flyer was it not getting updates that you weren't happy about, or problems that didn't get fixed before end of life, or just general performance? Was your flyer rooted?

Yeah lack of support. I wanted a nice tablet and didn't want to pay a mint. I was actually looking at a Anol novo 7 Chinese tablet with ics on it but I found this flyer refurbished for 200 and figured with Htc I'd get better support. Unfortunately the updated to honeycomb which made it a bit laggy, and web browsing sucked on it. Even Google hates honeycomb as you can't get chrome for it. It's like an ics beta, and in may htc decided all their tablets would stay on honeycomb. Hardware and build quality wise it was awesome but I was mulling over the nexus ever since I got it. We got a good ics rom in the works, borrowing drivers from the one v and desire HD but it has ways to go and overall I finally decided not happy with the flyer, and I really want a nexus, so I went with my heart!
And the 2 day shipping is no lie, getting it tommorrow! Very excited. Im loosing some features like mhl: never used it, rear camera: pretty useless just a toy on a tablet and the flyers camera was pretty grainy anyway, sd slot in which I found just didn't need one. I eventually put one in but only for cwm purposes, selling it with the flyer as a deal sweetner. And vibrate too, but I eventually turned it off on the flyer as it just wasn't needed, it just drained the battery more. So that stuff the nexus is missing is not important to me
And who wouldn't want a chance to play with jelly bean now instead of hoping your phone might get it after key lime pie comes out? Very excited!

I'm just guessing that you're going to be very surprised and impressed with the power the N7 has. This thing packs a punch!
Yeah I'm stoked! I watched a video view and it literally looks lag free completely, something I've always yearned for with android. Finally might have a tablet that can truly be a laptop replacement!

Bought two Nexus 5. One black for myself, and white for my wife. Wifey doesn't like it. She's surgically attached to her iPhone.
Anyways, I've returned her Nexus 5 to Google. It has been 3 weeks now, and still no refund. I call them every week to check up on the status. Always same answer "refund is being processed". BS.
Just keep at it. It ended up taking me 1 month for a Nexus 7 (2012) LTE return. Still better than the 7 weeks I've been waiting for Motorola to refund a Moto X return!
Mine took a week to refund after they received it and then another week to hit my credit card, the holidays maybe.
Surprisingly they won't email you to tell you you're being refunded just look at the original transaction.
They told me 10 to 14 days business days from when they received the defective unit. The hold on my card was was placed on Nov 9. It is now Dec 5 and still no refund. If you factor in the holiday and the business only days. It'll be 14 days on Friday. So even though it was practicality a whole month. The 14 days are just coming up. I guess I'll worry if tomorrow passes and nothing happens.
Google got to be the worse F*CKing company to get a refund.
Inquired again this morning. Got a reply that they "have confirmed receipt of the device at our return processing center". So, where's my refund?
It's been more than three weeks, since I shipped the device back.

That is unacceptable. My returned device was received by their processing center on 12/1 and a credit just posted on my account today (12/5).

It's the busiest time of the year, hence other people got refunded faster.
That's the one reason I was a little hesitant to order from Google.
With Apple if there is an issue I was always able to just walk into a store and resolve.
Luckily my phone was excellent and everything went smooth.

While it sucks to have to wait, as a whole their policy is pretty good. They also pay shipping back, do advance replacement for a year, ship quickly etc. I have to say that I'm more upset about the defect rate than anything.

They only pay for shipping for RMA's. With returns for refunds Google will subtract from your credit based on what shipping you payed for initially for your order.
So with my refund Google actually charged me $13.99 for the 2nd Day UPS shipping (which I paid for when I ordered), yet the RMA shipping back to them was only UPS Ground. So why do they get to charge me more for a service they're actually not using?

Don't spread false info...
I've returned items to Apple including a 5S recently and I've always been refunded in less than 48 hours back to my debit, or right away in cash.
The only time I've ever heard of any store giving you a gift card is if you somehow paid by cash and didn't have a receipt to prove purchase upon return.
I've RMA a nexus 4 last year... It took almost 6 month for google to "free" my money....
Yea... They are on the slow side.....

In my case I ordered 2 phones (2 32gb black) and they shipped a total of 9 phones to me. Thankfully UPS refused the shipment as I requested but Google received the phones 11/14 and still no refund on the 7 phones I didn't order. Disputed the charges through BOA but still my card is hosed until long after Christmas thanks to Google's incompetence.
WHAT?!?! You seriously ordered 2 phones and got NINE? And they charged you for them all. Holy crap. You could probably sue them. I've seen it done over less, l.m.f.a.o.
Wow 9 phones man that's nuts

Edit so not OT: I ordered a 32G white from play store on launch. Saw mine wouldn't even ship until late Nov-early Dec so I canceled it (before it shipped). Ended up waiting however long until T-Mobile got them in stock and grabbed it there. As far as Google's delay for returning my dough to the bank. They said usually no more than 2-3 business days, but as per their refund/return policy it could take a MAXIMUM of 14 business days. Though the rep said she never heard of anyone having to wait that long. Took them 6 business days. Almost hit that half way mark

That's true. Love Apple for that adjust.
Bought an IPad Mini last year. Wasn't impressed with the display. RequestED RMA, free FedEx overnight back, got refund 24hrs later. Bam, done deal!
They are taking forever with my refund as well. They received my defective unit on Nov 20th and still no refund. At first they said 7 to 14 business days and now they upped it to 21 days. That's a dang long time just for a refund. On a side note they said the old N5 was recieved and processed with no problem. Meaning that the defect or whatever was not my fault. So I wait, and wait, and...
So glad to hear I am not the only one with this issue. The whole business of returning the phone has been at a snails pace to get through the process.
