can anyone tell me what is system ROM? i saw it in titanium backup,at the overview.
when im using Gingerxperia v10, it shows around 20mb. but when i use floyo v0.30, it shows around 50mb. does this affect my phone performance anyhow.."?
thanks..
The system ROM is the storage where the system itself is found.
ROM stands for Read Only Memory
so why it is different when i use different ROMs..? does this affect the performance of a ROM?
Not every ROM has the same size. I don't think it affects performance.

ROM recommendation,
I know that the official 2.2 is not yet out, but I had enough of "Low on Space" on my Milestone and I would really like to use options like SendToPhone and App2SD.
I was thinking to update with one of the existing ROMs for XDA...but I don't know what to choose...I like Dexter's 2.2 ROMs but I also saw that Telus V5 is very fast and light (or why not a CyanogenMod 6 for Milestone...?! ).
Having in mind the flowing criteria that are important for me :
-stability
-speedy and light on memory consumption
-2.2 if possible (app2sd and SendToPhone)
-fair battery consumption
what ROM would you recommend me ?
Thank you in advance

Personally, I would recommend with the GOT 2.2.1 release the Cyanogenmod6...
Also, check my post about the battery life.
GOT 2.2.1, easily in my opinion =]
fast, stable, decent battery life and there are some awesome themes out there =D
hope i helped!
Thank you for your answers , I was just about to flash MotoFrenzy (Froyo 2.2 for milestone). I will try to see between this two....
and another question...why is so important to uninstall all the applications ? In this case can I use a backup application (Titanium backup Pro) to quickly reinstall al my apps with app data on my milestone ?

Yes...You can backup all your installed apps + data with Titanium backup in 2.1 and restore the backup in 2.2 ... You should not back-up system data or system apps....just the apps installed by you...
MotoFrenzy is not a full 2.2 ROM. it's just a ROM with 2.2 features based on 2.1 kernel so you wont have the full 2.2 experience on your phone...
I recommend as I said earlier GOT 2.2.1 + CM6
Flash the GOT 2.2.1 .sbf and you are good to go!
Also, Overclock (if you haven't done that already) your Milestone for more speed.
I also used Cronos Froyo ROM before GOT leak came out and I was really satisfied with the outcome. I believe he is making a new ROM right now, based on the 2.2.1 GOT.
This a thread where you can let everyone know which rom your currently using.
Feel free to leave any comments concerning your rom, like why your using it, or why you like it so much, your performance settings, your configuration, etc, etc.
This should be interesting
At the moment, I"m currently using Dreamteam Froyo (see my signature)
Its super fast, lightweight, practically stock (cuz its AOSP), which is what i need.
Im on froyo because gingerbread is just to laggy for me.
I'm using FroyoByLaszlo but it's been super modded to work even better =P
It's like the Dwang of FroYo..kind of.
I set my MTD to 110 15, pushed all apps that I use regularly onto the system memory, optimized the minfree settings, I use AutoStarts for fast and controlled reboots, ummm... I have the ICS Launcher, clocked at 245 595 ondemand, and have a 16gb class10 microsd for all other apps like games..
I think that pretty much covers my setup =P
Currently on ADS_Magpie (I enjoy how everything just seems to work), but I do like DREAMteam Froyo (was waiting on the next version to test it out again).
dreamteam froyo.
I'm using Dreamteam Froyo. Everything is perfect except it doesn't push the Gapps to ext partitions. The best thing is custom mtd regained lot of internal space.

I just discovered FbL like a month ago and It's running very well so far. But you know, always trying to learn something new and improve even more our old phone, I found interesting your mods: MTD (looking for info) and for minfree did you used and app from market or other way? it's permanent or have to be done on every reboot? Do you mind share some info about?
I'm using froyobylaszlo
I think I'm gonna have to reflash today though
What I have right now is a nandroid backup restore installed, and the ext restore went a bit weird
It keeps saying I have no space
Sent from my HTC Dream using Tapatalk
i am using COS-DS 07-18-2011 Gingerbread 2.3.4.
the fastest Gingerbread i have tested to date. I perfomed a few personal tweaks as well
I use Official's 'Kanged' CM7 by dw9906.
I've replaced camera.apk of latest build with the one of 09302011 build. This because in latest build I couldn't take videos in high resolution and changing options caused FC's, replacing camera.apk fixed the trouble!
Also removed rommanager.apk, I don't use it, and it charges RAM on start-up.
Latest ezgb kernel (1.5.2).
Latest gapps (20110828), with MarketUpdater.apk removed to stop market updates (3.x versions are too laggy in G1).
Latest SuperUser from goo-inside.me/superuser (3.0.7).
SwapScript2.1.1 from forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/208-swap-enabledisable/page__p__1303#entry1303 with bootswapv2 and 60 of swapiness.
SD Class 4, 8GB, 512 MB ext4, and 96 MB swap.
Using Official 'Kanged' CM7 cause I really like the any file type downloads and internet browser, specially of CyanogenMod's officials builds. Also like GingerBread by high compatibility with market apps, FroYo doesn't give me so much compatibility, particulary with some C# programming apps.
Also using S2E. Apps, private apps, and data is on SD ext partition.
File Manager and Terminal apps deleted, using ones from Market (OI File Manager and Terminal Emulator by Jack Palevich).
Radio 2.22.28.25 and SPL 1.33.0013d.
My device is a DREA10000, DREAM PVT 32B aka T-Mobile's HTC Dream 32B.

And I forgot it, only ROMs that I don't and never will use is sense ones, they haven't bluetooth and it's essential for me.
Always putting an eye on infinimod's Éclair sense and GBSense cause they're offering bluetooth working from a long ago... but haven't seem this to hapen yet
My phone is hanging repeatedly even when I have uninstalled my apps. I want to know the reasons behind..

Pure stock ics sense 4
Sent from my GT-S5570 using xda app-developers app
A full restore might work
Sent from my HTC Desire C using xda app-developers app
I have already done..
Desire C has few problems:
- crappy processor
- low RAM
- low internal memory
Stock ROM is good until you start to use your phone. I found that cleaning cache regularly improves the speed. For some reason, too much of internal memory is used for temp files, and that slows down the phone. You have the "Get more space" option to help you with that.
Try to move all your apps to SD card.
But I sincerely advise you to install some of slimmed ROMs, revolution rom I use is great and snappy. And overclocking the cpu helps a lot.

yep try revolution ROM it's the best ROM out there!
but the desire c doesn't have a crappy processor at all it's HTC Sense wich is making it lag!
Or if you're a bit advanced try the SuperStripped Revolution Rom.
It has less apps than the others and so it doesn't need that much memory.
And like the others said, try which oc kernel is the best for you.
V5 Customizer

Get V5 Customzier and install moderate ram which will boost your free ram as realistically it only has 412mb of ram (Requires CWM).
Hi there, I have question how you guys speed up your jelly bean performance on ace?
Maybe u will tell something new for me
For example I:
* Use memory managment - zRam to max, allow purging of assets ON, kernel samepage merging ON
* Limit background processes to 2-3 (in dev options, unfortunately after every reboot that needs re-apply)
* After reboot I try to force stop every non-system app, whats running
(using task manager to see whats running)
* Using only one widget

And at this moment my task killer shows 140mb free on CM10.1 (bieltv.3, RC2 release)
Maybe you should flash Adrenaline Engine and install Seeder + Greenfy to keep ram usage to low level. The first two things I mentioned works very well on stock GB and make the phone really fast. Also you can use CAREFULLY Pimp my rom to apply mods to speed up more the rom. Be aware that you can't do that much because the phone is very not powerful and the rom is not optimized at 100% so above some level of smoothness you can't go. P.S. You can also use a swap partition or the kernel patcher Memod+Swapall.
Inviato dal mio GT-S5830
Pushing free mem into 50 or 75MB, smartassV2 or smartassH3 + sio, Greenify, replacing Launcher2 with the launcher from XperiaZ.
For swap I use Swapper 2 from Google Play.
Is it best of kind? and how good is performance?

I am sorry. I did not see your post.
Do you mean Swapper 2?
It is just an interface. You need a kernel which supports swap (like the one of the Cm 10.1 builds or erikcas' AOKP ROM). The performance depends on the kernel. The app just invokes busybox commands.
There are few apps that manage swap. If you want a simple one for swap files, use this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.azasoft.free.swapper
If you want it to have more features and/or support a swap partition (which is faster and better as it is mounted even if the phone is connected to a PC). The biggest advantage besides that is its feature to clean the swap partition when it gets full. If the app does not (like the first one), it will be lagging like hell.
So I recommend Swapper 2. :good:
However, make sure that you have a class 10 SD card. Other classes will slow down the phone. And the life of the card will be decreased due to the many read and write actions.
You can transform you rom on a Bareboned Rom to make it as fast as possible, e.i. deleting all useless apps!! instead of using apps to freeze others as Greenify, TB, AndroidTaskers... that of course is runnig in background, so the best way to stop all background processes is removing the app that produce these processes xDDD

Yes, probably one of the best methods. However, you will have to do that again for every new release.

JB is already faster than GB.
Thats enough for ace.

lol but gb is much more stable i think.. thats why some users prefer stock roms instead latests jb roms
Hi,
I'm going to install new ROM for my Galaxy Mini. Did any of the latest ROMs include build in solution for shortage in internal memory?
If yes - which ROMs? If not what's the best way to resolve the lack of memory issue.
thank you,
Moshe
What kind of latest ROM ? Because there's a hundreds ROM.
There are some roms with built in script to mount. You have to found them on your own read description.
OR
Easy way, make partion of your sdcard use link2sd app available on store and link everything to sd.
I helped? Lol Here twitter.com/_aakashasaj go follow.

Low Internal Memory?
This is what I do, And I'm on 4.0+
- Use DroidSail App2SD Lite and transfer almost all the apps to SD.
- Use Greenify on the apps to normalize battery life.
- Use Sd Speed Increase set to 2048 kB settings. [Everything mentioned applied on boot]
- Use kernel [Badass Kernel] with smartassv2 governor and lower the minimum frequency to 122 MHz.
- And oh, delete most of the bloatware using RootAppDelete.
This makes it real real good and is way better than what I had bought it as.
Hope it helps!
