So I just saw that Verizon has tiered their data plans. I am currently on their unlimited data plan and my contract is up in Dec of 2012 will I have to switch to one of their tiered packages when my contract is up? What if I choose to upgrade my device thus extending my contract? Will it stay the same?

If you extend your contract, even if you get a 4G phone and add 4G into the contract, it'll still be unlimited. If you let your contact end and want to come back at a later time, its going to be tiered.

My brother is looking to finally get rid of his blackberry and wants this phone. He plans on upgrading either through website or att store.
He still has his unlimited data plan which brings me to my question, to anyone who has recently upgraded; if he upgrades, will he still be able to keep his unlimited data plan. Does he have to do something special to keep it?

i was able to keep my unlimited plan when i upgraded from my iphone 3gs to this...
He will get to keep his plan as Pirate has said. He is grandfathered in, just as my dad was from his iPhone 3GS.
That's good, wish I has the money for an unlimited package before they left. Thanks for your help.

For those of you on T-Mobile, what data plan are you using? Is anyone still able to use 2.99 or 5.99 tzones?

Yes you can, you just have to create two APN.
One for data and one for MMS

Do you think this will change if att takes over? Lol

$5.99 T-Zones still working fine here. Been with T-Mo for, wow about 8 years now. Used the same plan and SIM with my Treo 650 (and Handspring VisorPhone before that) until I got my N1 in January 2010.
Only have 300 min and 400 sms per month, but it's more than I need with unlimited data. Bill is only $44/mo including fees.
Always had good experiences with T-mo customer service too. The thought of them being swallowed by AT&T makes me want to cry.
I'm sure if the deal goes through the T-Zones ride will end.

There is no more t-zones available to new customers. But I believe you can still get the web2go which is $10/month. I am using that right now and the best way to get it is through it's website.

Lots of threads about shipping among other things. But what carrier are you using your PHONE on? I am personally using T-Mobile with Unlimited everything on a family plan.
Since this device is being sold around the world, i think an actual poll would be too lengthy and have too many options. So please just post as a comment!

When mine finally ships and I get it, I'll be running it on AT&T.

Sprint Sero-P for now, but might try out T-Mobile $30/month plan for a month or two.

Depending on your current bill, could potentially be worth it to cancel early. I have a friend that is going to cancel their verizon, because they will save more money than the cancellation fee.
As for me, T-mobile, been with them since 2001. (GO VOICESTREAM)
Um, you forgot to add the poll to your poll thread.
I will be using AIO pro plan.
Sprint is my carrier.
Will be Three UK. 2000 minutes, 5000 texts, 5000 three to three minutes, unlimited data with free upgrade to 4G in December including unlimited tethering all for £15 a month on a 12 month sim only contract.

Same Situation, however I am in the midst of fighting with them over this nonsensical 61 Cent "Administrative Fee" they added per line to my Family Plan. They never notified anyone and in breach of contract. I am going to try to be released for their breach of contract.
T-Mobile!
I ordered the free micro sim kit from T-Mobile today. Plan on buying their 1000 minute $100/yr prepaid plan. Wifi for 90% of it's use. Sad to hear about Google stopping 3rd party VOIP apps next year, no more GrooveIP, Talkatone and others... still not sure if I'd use 1000 minutes per year.
Straight Talk Att LTE
T-Mobile
AT&T is my grandfather's plan, don't think I'll be seeing a 2g data data toggle on this one.
Can't wait to have some faster speeds before the throttle.

My AT&T contract ended today (perfect timing). So I'm going to give T-Mobile's $30/mo prepaid service a try as soon as my nexus gets here.
Straight talk At&t. I really wish Tmo would get the LTE in my area already because that seems to be the best choice. Just can't deal with edge/2g speeds and att has great LTE coverage for me. Even better than vzw in a lot of places.

I'm coming from at&t to Verizon. I just ordered a g2 on the Verizon edge plan. I'm the type that likes to switch phones yearly..so I'm hoping this plan isn't riddled with hidden BS. Anyone care to elaborate on the pros/cons that may not be widely known about this plan?
Looking forward to Verizons strong coverage..thanks guys

You're paying about 88 more than a 2 year contract over those 12 months, and if you ever decide you don't want to upgrade you still have to end up paying the full retail of the phone.
not to mention you have to trade your phone back in whenever you do decide to upgrade, its kind of a bunk deal if you ever want to get out of service with them.
You do have to trade yout phone back in, but you only have you pay 50% of the phones retail value in order to upgrade.
I knew there would be some drawbacks...but we'll see. Thanks guys

A few of my family members had/have SERO plans through my bro. Two brothers updated to smart phones and lost their plan. My mom still has a flip phone, and I thought you could keep the SERO plan if u upgraded, but pay a $10 fee. I'd like to give her my Evo LTE. Can I make this happen, and who do I talk to?

If you upgrade on the website then it makes you change plans. I have to use telesales, and call sprint to do the activation.
My bro claims he tried fighting to keep his plan upgrading phones, and they would not allow him to keep it upgrading to a smart phone.
