...Hey all. I've been running a rooted (thanks psouza!) XT860 with Hashcode's tweaked Bootstrap recovery for about a month now with nary an issue, but yesterday something weird happened..
The usual boot animation is of course the red "Dual Core" Motorola logo, that then begins to throb, or pulsate or whatever...but yesterday I re-booted the phone and now the old, plain "android" text, boot animation comes up...the same one that use to be on my old Milestone.
It's not a problem per se, but is there any obvious reasons for this spontaneous boot animation switcheroo? where did this old animation even come from?

I have a brand new AT&T nexus one and I just succesfully installed Cyanogenmod v5.0.5.3 (when I flashed Cyanogens rom it said installation successful) and went to reboot my phone. Now my phone will not boot up and just continuously loops the boot up screen with the little lights forming the X.
I pulled out my battery 2x and the same thing keeps happening and it wont stop looping.
Any ideas on what I can do now?
Thanks.
Nevermind I wiped my phone and it fixed itself.
I have a D1 running the latest cm7 and its stuck at the screen with the moto logo it does boot occasionally but gets stuck on this screen 75% of time, however i can boot to recovery.
Phone ended up booting, Fixed permissions, reflashed recovery and it seems to be good now
Woke up to my phone at a fully white screen. I shut it off, but every time i turend it on it would simply freeze at boot animation.
Figured it was time for a new rom anyway so flashed paranoid android and it worked. Rebooted and it froze during boot animation.
Tried Android Revolution, Cyanogen Mod... all jsut start booting then freeze during the animation (all different animations). Sometimes they'll freeze for a while, then the animation runs for a second, then freezes again. Never ending. Wiped the whole device, clean install. Not sure what could possibly be going on.
I still have access to recovery (twrp 2.7.1.1/adb/fastboot).
It's awesome timing as i just got a moto360 yesterday... anod now can't use it as my phone is dead!

you say you wiped did you ever format data ?
have you tried re-flashing the firmware
have you tried flashing stock recovery / factory reset from stock recovery ?
I recently rooted and installed cyanogenmod on my kindle fire hd 7, and It has been working pretty much fine. I have been using a few months old version of CM and I figured I would just update it to the latest version (not nightly). I did the download and it installed, then I rebooted and it has been stuck on the boot animation since yesterday. I've turned it off and back on, every time when it gets to the cyanogenmod logo animation it just never stops. I did catch it once about a few minutes into the animation, my lock screen popped up for about a second, then the boot animation continued. I'm a noob when it comes to this stuff, please help.
Boot into recovery and restore your last nandroid backup. You did make a backup, right?
Hello everyone,
I have a boot loader unlocked Moto X 2013, running stock lollipop 5.1 222.21.15.ghost_row.AsiaRetail.en.03. Previously i had rooted and installed various custom ROM but in order to get the lollipop updated flashed stock firmware through RSD lite and successfully got the lollipop update. Recently the phone had been acting weridly with apps crashing or getting stuck so i manually cleared the cache and factory reset through recovery.
Since then the phone is working perfectly but the boot animation has changed and i cant find any reference or image of this boot animation on the net plus i dont like it at all. Any one else faced this issue and how do i get it back to the stock boot animation??

Whenever Motorola Boot Services app receives an update (or after a System Update) we can expect a new boot animation.
Previously there have been 3 or 4 boot animations. (one during FIFA Worldcuo, one during Spring, etc) and till now they were seasonal (the old animation got back after few weeks)
