I have to tap/smack lightly on the back of the phone and it will come back in. I assume something has come loose. Is the connection easily accessible on the phone? Or am I going to have to get a different phone?

So, after recently replacing my phone, I received one with a really noisy battery door. I mean the sliding mechanism to take off the back plate. I've tried to cope with it, but it makes my vibrate unusable due to a huge increase in noise. Also, barely squeezing the slider part makes it creak annoyingly.
Does anybody else have this issue? If so, do you know of any remedies? I'm starting to get really annoyed with this, as it makes my phone feel cheap and I can't stand not having vibrate on during classes.

What you can do is put some tape or glue a thin plastic on the inside of the cover to create pressure that should prevent it from moving. It will be on the inside thats way it doesnt look cheap and it will fix both problems. Let me know if it works

Gah! Can't believe I didn't think to try this. I put a couple of pieces of card stock under the door and its gone. Thanks!

My captivate audio die it's not the ROM because I flash 5 different ones but the problem is the it comes and goes I have to give it a tap in the back so it could work... But it's more technical then a software issue...

I've read on here on more than one occasion, that the speaker on our phones can come loose, and removing the back cover and pushing firmly in on the speaker will re-seat it. Give it a shot! Hopefully this helps.

It's a consistent issue with cappy's. Looking at the back of the phone with the cover off, the screw on the right side of the speaker is frequently over-tightened during assembly by the manufacturer, thus causing the left side to lift and randomly break connection. If you press to re-seat it and continue to have problems, try backing the screw out about a 1/2 turn (counterclockwise) and try again . Just don't back it out too much or you have the same problem. Good luck!

Glad it worked for you. I use the music player a lot and cannot stand for the speaker to cycle on and off like that. Anyways, enjoy!

Is there anyway without dissasembling it?
No.

You can use desintegrator to destroy your current housing and teleport to fix a new one to it's position...
If my g/f can disassemble her Incs to replace a broken screen and digitizer I'm almost positive that you can replace the housing.

At a guess I would say putting it back together is like taking it apart... in reverse.
But how does the screen work? You gotta heat the sceen and lcd to take them off, then they just go back on?
Yes, they do just go back on.
They will go back on, however, the way your screen is held on is two sided tape. When I did mine my tape went to crap, so I had to apply new tape around the edges to get my screen to stay in place.

OK. So my friends Captivate had the loose USB port problem. Well apparently they snapped the end piece or the mother board and the USB is half attached and then half not where the mobo is no longer there. Phone works fine, but it thinks headset is always in "with no headset sound" and only system sounds on speaker. Sound about fixed so there is speaker again.....but its been bestowed upon me to fix. I have a 25-30watt solder gun. Will it be just as simple as soldering board back together. As for the USB port itself I can't find and vids or pics on specifically how its supposed to attach. It has long pins that are longer than the groove/hole/indents provides. Something about pads missing. I'm not sure.

Don't they just want you to send it in? The only thing that really confuses me is how the port gets positioned again.

It's one guy, Josh. Can always try to ask him.
Also, there's a complete captivate teardown on here with pictures, that might help you.

Update so far still waiting on response. Soldering the mobo should be simple. It's just the way the usb port needs to settle back in that confuses me. I think I saw somewhere there are pads and that's why the prongs are deeper than the grooves they go in

i cant use power button anymore its not working..it started earlier with izs v1 and v1.1 that sometimes it wakes up screen sometimes not then after i suffered with it i flashed many other roms but the problem was there still..so i tried remapping Power to Gkey and i did but sometimes it works and some more times it just doesnt and i keep pressing on it for 5 minz to make it work
i cant use phone anymore..any help? i just want any way to wakeup the screen easily ..i dont care for buttons
I had the same problem with my OB an year ago. Power button doesnt wake up the screen and refuses to work. For me though it turned out that the whole strip joining the earphone jack, the power button and the earpiece had to be changed. Check for the above mentioned points and claim the damage under warranty and let them do the rest if that is the case. Dont let em buttons rot further. Phone might eventually cost even more to repair.

I got the same problem a couple of months ago. If yours is still under warranty bring to repair immediately! When my power button got broken, the whole motherboard of the phone was changed. I'm no specialist in fixing stuff but without warranty fixing it might be quite pricey.
See if it works if you squeeze the phone by the USB port . if so open it up and put something in there so there's a constant pressure in that area. Assuming you aren't getting it repaired

I opened up the phone and put a piece of folded paper basically above the Sim card and beside the camera. You could try just taking the back off and put it in the same place. If just taking the back off isn't enough just open it up

Gkey should work as long as you're on ICS or above. Reread the post and try it out.
