okay guys here's the problem.. i flashed steel droid 3 and i love it. its my favorite rom out right now. but.. previously i flashed narcotics and it deleted all my contacts! i then flashed back to steel again and imported contacts back to phone (which wasn't a problem at all). only problem is.. i cant sync my facebook contacts. When i click on my accounts it only shows my google account. but when i try to add facebook account it says "you can only have one active facebook account" so it thinks i have a facebook account already on there but i dont? i tried deleted the app and re-installing..nothing happened. i tried going into root explorer and going into /data/system and deleting the accounts.db and nothing happened... is there anything else i can do? my phone thinks i have a facebook account linked but i dont! same thing is happening for my email. i have an email account set up but its not showing up in my accounts. ive been going at this for a long time and i am very stuck. is there a way to go into root explorer and delete the facebook account? i need help guys :/
I would wipe and start fresh

Lemme know if recovering from an older nandroid backup worked for you or not, if not you should flash the sbf file, it should fix any remaining issues but you'll need to re-root, ect.

I would flash steel droid and while youre in CWM wipe data/cache and then install FB like normal. if all of your contacts are synced through fb. I use google to sync personally.
Thanks for your help guys. seiryu reminded me about my nandroids so i restored one that had fb contacts synced. Thanks again!

My Hero has been rooted since August, for the first couple of months after I rooted it I was flashing a new ROM everyday, just to find one I really liked.
Well for the last few months I've been using ASOP 9.7 and this theme, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833504 I've tried to flash newer versions of ASOP a few times but none of them worked for me without a ton of FC's so I finally just gave up and have been happy with the theme and 9.7 but now I want to try something new, namely one of these, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731659
My question is, I want to be able to sync all my contact with my Google account and my Gmail but I DO NOT want all my apps restored, I'd like to start over fresh in the apps department. It seems like with every 2.2 ROM I've tried it automatically restores my apps but I don't want it to, how can I keep this from happening?
Your Gmail and google contacts (not phone contacts) are always synced online. Your other email (non-gmail) is not synced, unless you are using IMAP. So, once you change the ROM and login into your google account, everything's (gmail/google contacts) restored.

I'm not worried about GMail and Contacts, those restore and I want them too, I just want to know if there is a way to keep all the apps from restoring.
Go to Settings, Privacy, uncheck Back up my data.
Another option. After you flash a new rom, and you are going thru setup, on the screen where you initially sign in to google, hit menu, disable restore.

Evening all,
*sigh - i wish google would update their gtalk so that it had multiple logins like gmail app* Currently using Beejive but would like to use the built in gtalk app.
Ive researched around and looks like the only course of action is to system wipe my sgs so that i can login into gtalk using a different gmail account (corporate gmail (setup after i bought the phone)
I installed JVO last night and have root and CWM installed. Also titanium.
Last night flashed gtalk v1.3 but still no multiple login. Apparently the option is out on tablet firmware.
All contacts are saved on gmail account (personal gmail) ready to restore at 1st boot. But not sure i can restore them from a secondary account?!
What is the best course of action so that i dont loose everything/something/?
Thanks for any advice.
All fixed.
Root access to /data/system/
and renamed accounts.db to accounts.db.bk
Reboot sgs and market, gtalk and gmail asks for login, used coporate account and still got all personal numbers on phone as no need for factory reset. And of course all apps are still avaliable.
A very happy boy!
And with no root....?
Any way of doing this without root? Perhaps using adb?
Jrhoop I've been searching online for a solution for 3 days... your a lifesaver!
Ok, I know I've seen this discussed on here before but honestly I dont know what keywords to put in to find the thread. Basically, I setup a new gmail and need to know how to register phone with it. I added under accounts and sync and have it syncing. Doesnt the market need it as well? I just feel like adding and syncing was too easy. Also what is a good way to move over contacts to new gmail? I thought syncing from phone would work, but have not seen them show up yet, been about 6 hours.
you need to do a factory reset to change gmail accounts like that.
Ya thats what I was afraid of.

Not positive about this but what if he flashed gapps over again? I have in the past had to flash gapps with nightlys and had to reset up my Google account. I did use the same gmail I have always used but shouldn't it be possible to do the same thing and when it ask for your gmail address just put in the new one?
Then if that works and you get it up and running you should be able to open your OLD gmail account via a PC and send a vcard with all your contacts to your new gmail account. Once you try to open the vcard it should ask you what you want to do. Then pick open with gmail or something like that.
Again I may be wrong and you will need to factory reset but it wouldn't hurt to try it the way I just said before. If this does work you will probably have to add all your apps via the market unless you install them first via titanium backup.

I just factory reset, but was looking at the idea of clearing all data on all google apps. Also on a side note, the setup kept force closing on my phone, wtf. Got it up and running though.

Bump
Same things been happening to mine.
For like a week now
brought to you by my iced out ns4G
Clear data and cache from Gmail app. Then login to Gmail on pc and make sure all your emails are good. Ensure there is nothing in the outbox and then just wait for your Gmail to sync. You may see emails in your inbox that you have deleted. Delete those as well.
Edit : there is also some other trick to this it seems like. I don't remember what it is. You could see if you can find it searching the cdma hero threads. I was having the problem the other day and tried just clearing data/cache in Gmail and it wouldn't work so I had to do all of the above to get it back normal.

If you have items stuck in your Gmail in web that aren't synced right it could keep it happening. I encountered this last week and had to do a bit of manually deleting on web to get it back to normal. Until I did it all before my phone synced back it wouldn't work. It's a pretty common problem though. I have seen it at least a dozen times over 2 years with multiple roms and phones. Make sure you delete anything in your phone waiting to send too before you clear data & cache. If that all isn't working I'm not sure. It's always ended up fixing it for me.

My work around is to save as a draft and then when I get to a computer, I open the draft and send it. *Or* in a pinch I open the browser and send the draft that way.
I wqas having the same problem the last few days. I just went into applications > gmail > uninstall updates. That seemed to fix my problem.
before i rooted and flashed the curiosity ROM, i had my school email on my phone ( live.edu... aka exchange)
after flashing the ROM i cant set this up.. i tried downloading the 'apppack full' to install, and i cant seem to get it to install in recovery...
i did get them to 'batch install' using droid explorer, but its still not working.. any suggestions? I really need this to be able to sync my email and calander... any suggestions?

Someone is having this problem with my ROM, I still don't know how to fix it.

ok, thanks for responding!!! I really like everything else about it, just wish the exchange worked cuz i use it for my school email and calander
Im lovin the ROM, however i cannot get the exchange email to work. I need this to work cuz i have my school email and calander synced to it, and i need it very badly!
I tried to install the app pack included at the bottom "apppackfull" but i couldnt do it in the recovery setting, so i did a batch install via the PC program "droid explorer" and it still didnt work..
What do you suggest i do? am i missing a step somewhere or doing something wrong? other than the mail issue I'm lovin it!!! Im at 52% battery after 25 hours!
