Exact preocess:
D/l swype
Boot into recovery
Wipe cache and dalvik cache
Install zip from SD card... installed
Reboot app is nowhere to be found
Unzip swype zip
Try to install.. not installed
Mount system as writable in esexplorer
Paste swype.apk in system/app permissions set to allow everything
Install... not installed
Reboot
Install... not installed
Download different .API
Repeat process... not installed
Frustration.
I think maybe I did move it to system/app and set the permissions to x x
x
X
I also moved the lib in the zip too. Did both with root explorer, then rebooted and it was in settings language and keyboard.

You don't have to install it and you won't see the app..
Go into language and keyboard settings, it should be there.
All is well moved both files and away we go thanks dude.

A second process where it is constantly connected to Swypes servers sending things you type.
Not only is it concerning on a security level, but it used up a lot of memory and seemed to be draining battery.

This APK was ripped out of the system dump provided by zifnab06 here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=664953
At least in my experience, it will not install over the old APK. However, when I do get it installed, it will FC. I was hoping someone more knowledgeable could take a look at it.
Thank you.
Remove the .zip extension to install it.
Mod edit:
APK removed cause swype is considered to be warez.
Quick question, why did you re-create your last thread again?
Might be missing the correct libraries(kind of like the Stock Android keyboard did). I'll get my hands on the build, see what I can do.

Because he doesnt know that he could have gone back and edited the title on his last thread by editing the first post and then clicking "advance" and then he could have just fixed the title.
I do now. Sorry guys.
Almost got it
I got it to install and not fc, but for some reason the actual "swyping" doesn't work.
I made a zip if anyone wants to look into it to try and fix it.(Yes you can flash this zip)
I'll look at it more later... Might just be a missing language pack or an edit to framework. Bahh, too hungry to find out.
EDIT: Won't work on DarchDroidv2 so don't even try to flash it.
Can someone try this? I'm on DarchDroid v2, so I cant lol. Just flash the zip as an update zip, or pull the apk out and push it via ADB
This works
I got it to work on damage control 2.07.2
I used the apk in the first post and the swype lib from ZenExp. Pushed the apk to /system/app and the lib to /system/lib
I made an update package....have not tested because I pushed manually.
EDIT: Nevermind doesn't swype because it says it is configured for a different device.

Anyone have a link to the awesome gingerbread black swype layout in Serendipity and Phoenix?
Download either of those two roms and pull out the apk from inside.
In the serendipity thread there is another awesome one themed like the gingerbread keyboard also worth a look.

I would have to say it is not allowed to post that apk because it has been altered from its original Swype form. We are allowed to post the APK because our phones have come pre-installed however, so it is a fine line. To err on the side of caution if the Swype has been altered it is best not to extract and post the apk.
How would I install this theme swype?
From my research does it go like this? Feel free to correct me because I can't find a firm answer. Thanks.
Backup with Tit
Uninstall Swype
Root explorer and delete swype components
Push the Swype.apk file found on this thread to sd
Then install with Root explorer?

Do you have swype installed on the ROM you are using? If the dev removed it you would need the the apk but also libSwypeCore.so
Unzip this and put it in the lib of your system folder. See if that helps.
Here is a green/black swype.apk
Just mount system as R/W, then drop this into system/app/ and overwrite the old swype.

For someone who doesn't try to help, it appears that 14 different people accidentally fell on the "Thank You" button on my behalf.
And it's interesting that more often than not, it's easiest to get a shot in when someone leaves themselves wide open by being a grouchy old a$$hat.
Do we need to get off your lawn too?
If you read the post one more time, you'll see that he was simply pointing out that Swype comes preloaded in Cog, not that you're an idiot for not being clairvoyant.
You've mastered other ways of accomplishing that, why would you need one more?

I don't know when it begin, however, since yesterday, every application I downloaded from the market, will show me this error message
"<Application Name> could not be downloaded due to an error"
I googled it and tried every single solution provided , that could be summed up to these few things
a. use another account --> tried, didn't work
b. flashed cache (dalvik cache, application caches) --> tried, didn't work
c. flash the ROM again ---> havn't done so!
d. change account password ---> tried, didn't work
The problem only when downloading the application from Market - as if my account is rejected. There is no problem using Talk, or Gmail or Youtube or Maps.
With exception of (c) - i have no other idea.
Suggestions?

I use Semaphore Kernel and activated the "Change /cache to virtual 50 Mb" option. I deactivated it and now market works as normal

Yeah, good idea. Try a different market version. That may solve this.
It blows my mind that the description for the error is that you have an error. That just seems lazy.
I have the same problem, I have uninstalled the market updates but still no luck.
The problem started yesterday, I'm using Juews smart edition v6.
same here..
When the error is shown, I quickly check that the version has been updated. HOWEVER, this doesn't mean that the problem started because of an update as I have not been downloading much thing from market anyway.
Logically - since the problem occur after an update, I thought, let's uninstall update. And then the market went down to version during Froyo time. Problem remains !
I download market 3.2.0 and problem remains. That's where I started to go crazy... tried every method that my google friend could find, nothing works.
an idea!
What if , the problem is somehow due to insufficient access right to download files from the market? Where does market placed the download files? If anyone knows the temporary folder .. could you tell me the access right setting as well.

You should always update the thread with the solution for others... that's the point of a public forum, since the earliest of days when it involved sitting in an amphitheatre in ancient Rome.
