Should I get into download mode and flash the right kernal if so which one for CM7?
Or should I load the right kernal and go flash back to stock and verify 3 bttn?
Just to reinterate I was on a KB2 Build I flashed using odin back to stock and tried to load CM7 with the wrong kernal now I am stuck at the GALAXY I SGH-I897 Screen.

I was at stock 2.2 froyo, then flash my first custom rom Serendipity IV, then flashed Continuum v5.6. So i decided to try the new Mosaic IV. On the Mosaic IV page it states that if you are on TalonDEV kernel you need to flash to Xcalv's Kernel. I downloaded Xcal's kernel "I9000_reoriented_vG.1.2_novoo.tar". on the Mosaic IV page, flashed. Now i can't get back into recovery mode. What's going on what can i do?
how exactly did you flash the kernel?
can you still get into download mode? if so odin flash the kernel again.
I used Sgs kernel flasher to flash the kernel. Was this what caused it?
yes i can get into download mode.
So open ODIN 3, go into download mode pluge the phone in and put the xcal's kernel in the PDA slot and hit start?
Thanks!
yeah the only way we recommend flashing kernels is with odin. the app can cause problems...as you are now aware of.
yeah open odin put the .tar in the pda slot, make sure repartition is unchecked plug in while in Dl mode and flash away.
flashed with oden3, took the battery out and hold vol+ & power, it's in the Galaxy S GT-I9000 screen no recovery mode. what do i do now?
oh wait....before you flashed the kernel the first time with the app, did you disable lagfix?
oh crap no i didn't. Darn it and read that too. my bad.
so my option is to flash back to stock GB 2.3.3?
how do i flash back to stock? what do i need?
go back to the mosaic thread in the same post you got the kernel there is a link to a tutorial thread that has all the information and files you need.
Sweet thanks!
how do i get into download mode i flashed mosaic 4 and when rebooted it stays on the att white screen any solutions?
Hello,
I own a I-897 Captivate model, and I had a custom 2.3.4 gignerbread rom recently..
Latley I tried to move to cognition becuase the other rom did problems for me..
So I followed the guide, and when I first flashed the kernel I wasn't using any pit file..
So it's just stuck on odin with nothing happening, so I closed odin and rebooted my phone.
Then the phone showed me a logo with phone and computer with X between them.
So I flashed again using the pit then I got to the recovery, where I tried to install the cognition 5.2 without succes, it finished the install, but when I rebooted it just kept switching between the boot screen of AT&T and Galaxy S GT I9000..
So I tried to use my Nandroid backup, but it just won't work, I tried to install it manually and still it isn't working..
So I tried to instal my previous rom and succeeded, but now when I reboot it it just loading the Talon logo, finishes it and stuck on the end of the loading without any action...
So, I can use the download mode and odin.
What should I do?
Thank you very much.
What build number is your phone

I have read tons of time,
I tried to install Cyanogenmod, but it seems when I get to the recovery it doesn't work..
I flashed the recovery through CWM, but its very limited and blue not bright green or yellow as always.
I only got 4 options:
Reboot
Re-Install packges
Wipe user data
Wipe cahce
How do I get my recovery work properly?
That's not CMW that's the regular 3e recovery. You'll need to flash a kernel with CMW built in or one with an alternate recovery (I usually use an Onix kernel)

I've flashed a full gingerbread stock rom, with boot loaders and it works fine,
but now I can't get to the download mode, so I cant flash the rooted kernel..
I'm stucked unrooted, How can I root it?
It's Gingerbread 2.3.3 UCKF1 Build stock rom.
Pull out your battery, Sim, and SD card. Plug your usb cable into a usb port on the back of your computer then plug it into your phone. Hold volume up and down then reinsert your battery, should boot into download mode.

Kernel JP6 is for FROYO roms and you are on Gingerbread, so problems WILL appear. Pull battery out and boot in download mode. Flash with Odin a Gingerbread rom, reboot, and flash the proper CF-Root kernel for your rom.
I can flash directly from Gingerbread? I tried 2 times with OdinOne Click flash but I have not flash because Odin gets stuck in factoryfs. Thanks to USB JIG I managed to revive my Captivate.
yes you can, but why?
odin sometimes locks up. keep trying. where did you get this one click?

I will try with a file .tar i got. I need Flash CyanogenMod 7.1, the Stock ROM Gingerbread is worse than Eclair, I am disappointed, I thought it would be better
Another question. It is necessary wipe/data before flash with Odin?
Just flash CM7 from where you are now. And Odin wipes it for you

Are you sure that I can flash directly from Gingerbread 2.3.5 (Stock) to a ROM CyanogenMod 7.1 (Official)? Had I known it would not be with the disastrous Stock ROM 2.3.5. And from any Custom Kernel? I have Corn Kernel v7.06
Yes flash it with CWM Recovery and it will boot loop (supposed to happen). Pull the battery and put it back in. Boot into recovery and wipe everything then flash CyanogenMod and Gapps. Reboot and you're good to go. If you wanna flash a custom kernel I recommend Glitch 13.1
Can someone please help me find the stock UGKG3 kernel for a GT-i9000M running Gingerbread 2.3.3?
I used Odin to flash the latest SpeedMod kernel to get CWM Recovery on my phone and now it's stuck in a logo boot loop.
I need the stock UGKG3 2.3.3 kernel but can't seem to find it anywhere.

I found the rooted stock kernel in this post but even after I flash that with ODIN I'm stuck on the boot logo. I had flashed SpeedMod, and then Voodoo and both had me stuck in boot loop. After flashing the stock rooted KG3 kernel I'm just stuck at the boot logo, i.e. no loop.
Go into recovery and do a full wipe before and after flash

I was on stock 2.3.3, bought the phone used so I don't know how the previous user had updated to 2.3.3
In any case, this is a non-issue now because I was able to use CWM recovery that came with the Voodoo kernel to flash ICSSGS which was my ultimate goal anyway. I don't see myself ever going back to stock Gingerbread.
Thanks for the help!
