Just curious if anyone has heard Anything at all about an Update to GB for this device. The battery life is horrendous on Froyo with this device.

Nope.......been hammering AT&T and LG with no luck. Mum's the word I guess.
When the New Nexus comes out, this phone will just be more of a novelty item at that point for the 3D ability (for me). I'm sick of waiting on Vendors and Carriers to release updates.
I'm with Gr8 on this one. As soon as the prime shows up on at&t this phone will he a hand me down. I just needed a phone because my 4th captivate took a dump. So $79 I couldn't pass it up.

This topic is getting so old already. Everybody wants what they want when they want it and it doesnt work like that unless you are willing to develope Gingerbread for your Thrill on your own. This device just came out September 4, so it is a new device. Owners of this powerful phone should feel good about the SPECS of it and the soon to come dev support. We have dev support now but very little. Trust me when I say that we will get all we need and then some once this device is fully studied by different devs. Remember that the phone is just over a month old.Give it some time people!
I hear what you're saying, but many of us purchased the Thrill because of the promise to upgrade it to Gingerbread within a month of launch. I'm sure i'm not the only one, but if i had known it was going to be indefinitely postponed, I would have waited the extra month for the Galaxy S2. We as consumers shouldn't be lied to...if something is promised, it should be delivered.

No argument there. You are 100 percent right. But our device has one of a kind specs/hardware. No other device has the hardware setup that we have so you really cant discuss other phones having gingerbread while we dont. It makes sense that gingerbread has to be tweaked especially for the Thrill. Wouldnt want them to rush it and send out updates that dont fully support our device. Just my opinion.
Honestly I don't know why people are never happy with the Android version they have. Just because they're told about an update, they freak out and HAVE to have it right then, or they wanna jump ship. Half of them can't tell you what features the new Android version has. The only reason I'm working on GB and ICS is to fix the battery problem caused by froyo.
"Ask not what your Thrill can do for you, but what awesome things can you do with your Thrill!"
Well put.
I have no problems with my thrill at all. I KNOW that I have a POWERFUL device no matter what version of Android it is currently running. Come on people, DUAL CORE PROCESSOR, DUAL CHANNEL RAM(first and only of its kind), 1080p video recording and viewing, and not to mention the added luxury of 3D gaming, videos, and apps. what more could you possibly want your phone to do? I know that updates bring more functions as well as improves on hardware compatibility but my THRILL does enough for me to the point where I can wait for updates patiently and still enjoy my device.

DUAL CHANNEL will kill all other phones....at least until other companies implement the same technology with higher specs!
LG needs to start giving us information of the gb update. At least something so that we knowwhere this device stands as far as update.
Devine, as for no other device that has our features. How bout the EVO 3D. Similiar to this device and it came with gingerbread. Its just ashame that this is the only dual processing phone on the market with froyo.

OK I just had a live chat with LG. He pretty much said LG has no part on updating their phones. Its all on Google and at&t. Both of those (Google & at&t) choose which devices get updated and when. So we should he hounding at&t.
Optimus 3d and LG thrill are the same. Only difference is the thrill is 4g and the o3d is 3g. Everything else is identical hardware wise.

LG has nothing to do with the updates. It's all AT&T.

I wouldn't say ALL AT&T. In fact I would say LG has the biggest responsibility here. Its their device, their technology, they need to provide the drivers. LG has yet to give the Optimus 3D the GB update it promised [to release in October] for them in July. I heard it was pushed back to December. (Last Android Central podcast reported that.)
I agree AT&T could cause a large delay, but its not yet in their court. Right now LG is holding it up. When other non-branded versions see the update THEN you can start blaming AT&T.
That Android Central Podcast spoke a lot about this, and the Thrill was mentioned. LG is the newest manufacturer to the high-end android phone scene. Motorola and Samsung had their "growing pains" providing timely updates to phones, and have hopefully learned by this from their phones of last year.

"Phones of last year" meant the Galaxy S variants, charge and Infuse are not even 6 months old. All those phones have GB ROMs. This IS a case where the blame lies in the carrier. Samsung has built GB updates for all these phones. Some official for phones outside the US, some leaks. Either way Samsung has put in the work.
Have a Captivate, and want gingerbread? Blame AT&T for not having an "official" update, then blame yourself for not following the countless guides on xda.
Sent from my Galaxy S II (i777)
Even unbranded versions are altered I can assure you this from building the LG source code. It is completely different than any of the carrier releases. LG more than likely has already released the GB update... just to the carriers. LG has done their part, its the carriers we are waiting on. LG isn't going to tell you the ins and outs of the contracts they are bound to and when you email them there is probably hundreds of people that answer those questions. They are probably told not to give too much info so they make a guess based on what info the carrier has given them. Att makes an estimate as to when it will be done but it isn't a set in stone date and LG can't give you more info than what they have. If the carriers are going to have the GB update out soon then they HAVE to have the update from LG already otherwise how can they be testing it? LG is probably under contract to NOT release any source code until all carriers release their versions. The carriers have manufacturers by the balls, they either do what they say or find someone else to sell their product. This is all because of business and the horrible american business practice. Notice how limited our phones are compared to other countries... they already have the 3D converter because their carriers released it before america did. Its not LG holding things from us... now don't be quoting me this is just my speculation based on what I have learned in my years of working in IT. You would be amazed at how much a contract with a company can screw everything up. Blame ATT not LG... LG more than likely came out with the update exactly as promised, now it is up to the carriers to give us that update, once that is done LG can legaly release the source to the public.

First of all the EVO 4G, Motorola Droid 2 and the Droid X were all flagship phones of last year that have been officially updated to 2.3.x. You see two companies not listed out of these devices......yeah, the Korean companies Samsung & LG.
As for rooting, not everyone's wants to root so you can't blame users for not rooting.

Nice
A lot of people are speculating that T-Mobile changed the name to G2X to match the other "G" series phones. The same people have inferred that this means te phone will be stock Android. Hopefully this is the case! I will definitely pick it up.
Currently using the Nexus One and MyTouch 4G, I would jump on this new phone in a heart beat. I hope the LG doesn't have that cheap plastic feel, I enjoy a quality built device, good hardware goes a very long way in the way I choose my phones. The Nexus One to date has the best feeling in your hands, I still use it as my daily phone. HTC builds quality phones, I have sent my N1 back to HTC several times for the screen issue, they fixed it, changed the mother board and many other parts. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another device from HTC.
now the question is when is the release date?
I heard later this month. I hope so, I am trading out my Nexus S to get the cash together and will be using an iPhone 4 till its released. :-( I plan on getting it on day one.
how does it take to get the unlock code from the website services?
can anyone give me an estimated time for that?
guyz i ll be in us between 12-18 march, hope it ll be released and get the code in very soon, dont want to buy an atrix

Awesome that TMo is picking up O2X as their next G-series device.
Hope it will be launched with stock Android - porting that ROM to European device will be a piece of cake!
O2X + stock Gingerbread = total win
Some Tmobile reps over at Tmonews have posted that the LG reps have come to their stores to demo the phone and that is stock android, has 4G and it is fast! Also the release date is supposedly April 20th alongside the G-slate. Heh can't wait to get this.

I made summary of current informations about TMo G2X, visit my blog if you wish to read it
http://mobileboard.blogspot.com/2011/03/more-informations-about-tmobile-g2x.html
I spoke to a Tmo rep yesterday...and probably the first guy who was totally knowledgeable about HD2 and its capabilities and such. I've asked several reps about the G2x and none of them seem to be even remotely aware. But after talkin for a while with this guy, I asked him about the G2x...and he said since I know this much, there's no harm confirming the arrival of the G2x...he said the launch shud be with 3-4 weeks after the launch at UK. More than likely, the speculated April 20th seems plausible. Can't wait!!
Is 4g confirmed? Would really suck if this phone had everything but 4g speeds

I have seen first hand proof of this working. I had an evo 3d. Htc decided all futre devices would have locked bootliaders well that made alot of people angry. Someone posted a thread on xda suggesting we let htc know that is not gna fly. So it turnd out thousands of people got on there facebook wall and twitter. Guess what the next day htc released a statement saying that they wanted too keep there coustamers happy and that the bootloader would be unlocked. They were. Id like to be able too have a device and not have too get a new one juzt because moto or htc or sammy wants too put them out constantly get people too buy them and then ditch them and out out another. The atrix is 100 percent capable of runing ics and theres no excuae for it l not too recieve it just because moto wants people too buy new devices every couple months. I know many many people feel the same way well as i said we have the power too change that if people would stop bickering and take it seriously. And also if moto started supporting devices longer not just bug fixes but the new android flavors. Id definately make my next device a moto it would do nothing but benefit them
Why are we discussing/petitioning something that we don't know? Has it been set in stone that manufacturers will not support us anymore or is this all stemming from paranoia?
Because it is the trend. And the atrix 2 has been released already. All the manufactures with the exception of sammy have been doing this more and more lately abandoning. Devices. And pumping out new ones. At a very fast pace
So you are saying they are not going to support the atrix anymore since they released the atrix 2? I'd rather wait till this actually happens before i draw a conclusion. e.g. when ICS gets released and they say they are not going to update the atrix.

No it is obvious support is going to be dropped for old models. But he is implying that models released this year will not get support.
I think for every $10 a phone costs over $50 on launch day (on contract) is how many months it should be updated for. So a $300 phone should be kept updated for 25 months. So this would either keep phone prices lower or keep them updated.
Facebook is a poor way of getting the attention of corporations. You want them to change? Buy a nexus phone. Money talks.

I think ICS only has support for Armv7 currently, so phones with those SoCs will get updated. However, phones using custom UIs will experience a longer waiting time, maybe around early Q1 of 2012. HTC has released like 1000 phones in the last few months and I doubt most will get ICS soon, not sure if Moto will bother at all. But it might be better to wait and actually see what goes down, like you said.

As I understand it, you lose all ROM related warranty, so for instance if your screen fails then you're still covered.
Motorola unlocking bootloaders ??
you should check this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316722
I had a motorola xt720.... not the best phone..but was ok. Motorola decided to stop supporting it within 4 months of launch or something stupid like that. No new updates no nothing. And still insisted on the bootloader staying locked so the dev's found it alot harder to do their job for them.
I will never ever buy a motorola product again.
The market is fairly competitive ... don't buy from companies that pull this crap
First off, let me apologize if anyone is not happy with starting a new thread on the ICS topic. I did this because this particular post is about the communication issues between Verizon, LG, and, most importantly, us as the paying customers.
This would be a great thread for others to post transcripts from both sides!! Should've named it "LG/Verizon Transcripts - Who does what?" LoL
Here is a transcript of my conversation. As per the agreement to post this, Names were removed.
LG Rep: Hello Cybie257. Welcome to LG Electronics U.S.A. Support only. How may I provide you with excellent service today?
Cybie257: I have an LG Revolution phone. I love this phone and wish to find out how much more support LG will give for it. As in, will ICS become reality for it?
LG Rep: Unfortunately there are no posts from the carrier regarding that update being released, at least not yet
Cybie257: Please note I am thinking about buying a Samsung Nexus for ICS, but will keep my LG Revolution if ICS is something in the works. (Threw this in for FUN!!! LOL)
Cybie257: By carrier, do you mean Verizon?
Cybie257: I guess I should ask, is it in 'development' with LG? Or has LG given up on updating that phone any further?
LG Rep: The software is just tested by LG after it has been modified to fit the software on the phone through Verizon
Cybie257: Ok, so still not clear with that answer. A lot of LG Revolution owners are wanting some sort of "Yes, LG is working on ICS for the Revolution". That is something we can go from.
Cybie257: or, "No, LG has no interest...."
LG Rep: In fact LG does not control the updates
Cybie257: Ok. That's an interesting answer since Verizon told me to contact LG for such information because they state that 'they' don't control them, LG does. hmmm
LG Rep: Hmm, I see
LG Rep: I am sorry that you are having this inconvenience with the phone; unfortunately LG manufactures the phones as the service provider’s request. LG would love to have all our customers satisfied with the products, however the service provider makes specific requests that we by contract have to comply with.
Cybie257: Yeah, it makes it confusing to figure out where and who to find out any such information when both sides point fingers at each other for answers to the most important people, 'the paying customer.'
LG Rep: I would like to let you in to some information as well so you could understand a bit more to how the phone and service are actually developed. You see; software and service actually come from the carrier. LG’s role was to develop the phone hardware for the carriers to place their software into and offer the service. Basically what I mean to say is that if you would be interested in finding out information related to software I suggest contacting the carrier since they should have more concrete foundations for your questions. As well, even though LG engineers do help out through out the development process, LG does not actually support third party software or applications, which in any case you would want to contact the carrier as well if dealing with issues related to apps or other software not directly related to the phone. I am always happy to help out as best I can with situations in general, but I am unfortunately only limited to the information we have for the hardware specifications and what we can find in the Owner’s manual. I do apologize for the inconvenience if there is any. Hopefully you now have a better picture of software vs hardware. I did try to type in this information as clearly as I could so you could have a better picture of how LG phones are actually made.
Cybie257: Ok, that was a good piece of information. In order to provide others in the forum I chat within, is it ok to post this within the forum without violating any privacy issues?
LG Rep: It would do, but we have provided the same information to other customers
LG Rep: It's ok as long as there are no names (yours nor mine)
Cybie257: ok. But this will at least let others that I I spoke directly with LG. and yes, I do plan to Omit names. Thank you for your time.
The toughest part about such a conversation is staying away from saying, "You are all a bunch of &%*!&$ Morons!" LoL
So, there you have it, straight from LG. I will see if I can't get a chat transcript from Verizon. I already know it's going to say something like, "We (Verizon) have no control over the updates. That is up to LG."
I'm confident of that response because, well, that's what I was already told by Verizon and why I was directed to contact LG.
Ugh. Anyhow, enjoy the transcript.
-Cybie
Ok, So HERE IT IS! From Verizon (Note the RED PRINT)
Also, I went in as a customer interested in buying into a contract with a new Revolution, hoping to get someone that would divulge some inside information in order to make a sale....
BTW, you should get a kick out of the fact the rep didn't know what ICS was, LoL
Please hold for a Verizon Wireless sales representative to assist you with your order. Thank you for your patience.
You are now chatting with 'VERIZON REP'
VERIZON REP: Hello. Thank you for visiting our chat service. May I help you with your order today?
Cybie257: I'm liking the LG Revolution. Have done some research. Is ICS going to be released for it? That is a determining factor. Thanks.
VERIZON REP: What do you mean by ISC?
Cybie257: ICS, not ISC. Ice Cream Sandwich update?
VERIZON REP: Oh ok, the Android software. I am not sure if they will, but I am sure that it will come out. It wouldn't make sense for them not to offer the update.
Cybie257: you are not sure, but you are sure. what do you mean? you believe it will come out for the LG Revolution? I would really like a pretty good and confident answer before I lock myself into a two year contract with it.
VERIZON REP: I am not positive, I cannot see that information. But it would not make sense for them to not offer the update.
Cybie257: ok. hmmm. Then, is the Samsung Galaxy Nexus the only phoen with 4.0.X ICS Android right now? I hear it has no External SD Card support....
VERIZON REP: Yes, that is the only phone with ICS right now.
Cybie257: ok. I'll hope for some way to find information regarding ICS for the Revolution before taking the chance right now. I did contact LG and they said you, as Verizon, control whether or not it gets ICS.
VERIZON REP: No, the manufacturer controls that.
Cybie257: hmmm. interesting because I have a transcript for the chat that says Verizon (the carrier) controls that. odd... Anyhow. thanks for the information.
Cybie257: (transcript from LG Rep)
VERIZON REP: Ok, I would contact them again. Also to be fair, contact another VERIZON REP to verify my information.
Cybie257: ok. fair enough. Thanks!
VERIZON REP: Not a problem. Was there anything else I can help with?
Cybie257: That should do it for now. Thanks...
VERIZON REP: Thank you for visiting Verizon Wireless, I look forward to speaking with you again. Have a great evening!
As expected.....................

Hahaha they do just blame each other. Its really frustrating how LG ad Verizon can just take advantage of us like that. Pumping out tons of phones promising the world of them for a few months then totally dropping them. Anyway...this is the answer I got from the LG forum when I asked about ICS and if there was another update in the works for the LG revolution.
"I have heard that there is an update coming for the Revolution. It could be soon, but I don't have a date. ICS for the Revolution? I don't know. LG hasn't made a decision on which US devices will get it. The statment that was released was for LG's International phones... I'll let you know if I hear anything."
So I guess you could interpret this as good news... "No decision on which US devices will get it". There still is an update (hopefully) coming to fix some gingerbread issues. I personally believe there is a very slim chance of us actually getting ICS. I'm going to stay optimistic though!
Also thanks for taking the time to research and post this
In you conversation with LG you listed that the LG engineers help the VZ software developers. I believe it is this effort that would need to be "agreed to" by both parties in order to rev the software/firmware. So I would conclude that both parties are involved with a new release both have a say.
I'm sorry but I gotta say this. That rep lied, plain and simple. Software updates go through the OEM first then the carrier has the final say (hence all the Nexus delays because of Verizon not approving ICS on the first few tries). Everyone that has developed before knows that. All the rep is doing is blaming it on Verizon which is the same thing Verizon will do to LG. I gave up any hope of getting an official OTA of ICS. I'm 100% sure we'll get ICS, but not through Verizon.

You're welcome. The reason I chose to do this isn't because I was hoping for an actual answer, but to merely get it in some sort of writing directly from both sources as to what they tend to do. That is ----> forget those of us who put out the big dollars to buy their equipment (LG) and Services (Verizon).

I just think it's hella funny that LG says it's all up to Verizon while Verizon says it's all up to LG. They both tell me to check with the other as 'they' don't deal with the OS Updates on the device(s).
I guess there is some little elf that comes in from Santa's workshop that puts the OS updates together.

Actually, when I was waiting for the OTA update for gingerbread, I called Verizon tech support one day and got a really cool tech rep. After chatting for five minutes he conferenced me in with him to call LG! He got through to a tech that confirmed that THEY (LG) were still pushing the updates.
So I know without question that LG is responsible for the OTA!

This was a really interesting read, I don't expect ICS anytime soon, but it's about what I expected from either party.
In all fairness to the LG rep, I have spoken with them before, and they don't know what the hell they are talking about. You, like me, originally went into the conversation assuming that LG support reps would actually know something about their phones. They don't. They are scripted pawns, just like when you call your cable / satellite company. Chances are the "LG" support rep doesn't even REALLY work at a U.S. LG site. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if this was some offshore, contracted, damage control support system, where they determine if your questions are worthy of passing on to LG.
The best you can hope for is this response: "I'll contact the engineers to get a better answer for you in a few days" (the response I received on a question I asked a while back).
In answer to ICS, LG won't do it. They are looking to their future products, and could care less about what they would consider to be yet another flop in their manufacturing line. Given how many problems these have had and have been returned, I don't think this is worth the time for them to upgrade.
Lets face it, any non-XDA members would have returned this phone within the grace period.
I didn't become an XDA member until I had the phone for a while I liked this phone before I came here so saying any non XDA member would have gotten rid of it before the return time is inaccurate.

Ha! I was on the fence when I got here. There was no community, and everyone seemed to have given up on this phone and rooting it (and/or didn't want to get one).
Had I not hooked up with TheCubed and worked through the rooting process, this phone would have gone back.
The biggest thing that I think a general consumer will notice that does not have access to XDA is that key features from Google are missing/not possible to install. The lack of Google maps in favor of a paid GPS, no decent voice commander for dialing/navigation, the favored paid method of voicemail over Google Voice makes this phone, when unrooted and bingified a REALLY sad phone. The only people I could see purchasing it and keeping it are people who had no prior experience or knowledge of the capabilities of the Android OS.
I came from a Droid one and an Eris prior to that. I love this phone and if I needed a navigation I could just download google maps. I like this phone better then my Droid or Eris google isn't all that to me.
GINGERVOLTED!
I agree, when we all had to go back to stock before upgrading this phone was essentially unusable. It was like it wasn't even an Android phone but something else...something else that really sucked....couldn't root and MOD this thing fast enough!

I'm Google's *****...
When I got the Revo it was TBolt, Charge, or Revo for 4G... Since Verizon has lied to me 4x on when 4G will be rolled out in my area I should have followed my gut and gotten the HTC Inc2 which I loved in the store...
By the time 4G hits my area my contract on my primary will be up and I can replace this thing with some a bit more "mainstream."
Or I can just upgrade one of my other 2 lines and transfer the phone to mine.
Hopefully the Revo get ICS shame if it doesn't, since it came out a couple months before ICS.
My droid X still got updates, including Gingerbread, even after the X2 was out. Hopefully LG decides not to give up on this device and still push a few updates so we can get ICS.
As far as who does the updating, it's both. LG needs to come up with ICS then Verizon has to approve it. But typical companies, never want to take responsiblity for anyting.
Attention!
In light of all the posts that are deleted and/or closed due to many off-topic posts about what device a person should buy, I have created this official thread.
Although XDA is not a place to extensively talk about what device person should buy, some forums permit it. So to help keep the threads a little cleaner, you may post your questions here.
Granted there are other sites more into device reviews and comparisons, but in the interest of keeping some people happy, and to avoid getting posts deleted, this thread is created for people who have no idea what device to get.
In the end, you should still march your happy self to a shop, and play with the devices that are available. Only then will you be satisfied with your purchase.
Any posts elsewhere asking such questions, that should be in this thread, will still be deleted or closed. This includes posting multi-duplicated posts in several forums outside of official threads.
Thanks, and Hope you use this.
Since I'm having problems with the LG Revo, my question is should I wait for one of the quad-core phones to come out, or grab a droid razr or google nexus?
I'm a bit new to the android scene, and just wonder how much of a difference do we expect to see in terms of power between the current phones and quad-core.

Pretty much. Until they fix whatever is wrong with having 4G and quad cores.
Love the Revo Community.. if I could I would buy all of you guys HTC ReZounds which I now have. It is a damn good phone.. I know not the absolute best but what is best now will only be one-upped next month and so on.

Better than having this phone. Would do about anything to get a new phone that has better support.
just got an offer from verizon to get a new phone....
those of you that were able to switch, did verizon say the rarz maxx was excluded? did they also say that removable batteries and battery doors were not included for certain phones?
Hi everyone!
This is my first post here,so I am sorry if I am not supposed to post this question somewhere else.
Well,as the title says,I need your opinion for a purchase I want to do on a Android smartphone.
To be honest I am confused!
Okay to be more specific, the phones I really liked most are the following :
1)Samsung Galaxy S III
2)LG OPTIMUS 4X HD P880
3)HTC ONE X
And there is one rumored :
4)LG LS970 Eclipse 4G LTE(not compatible with my country's carriers, but I believe that this phone will be released to other countries too)
Now you might be wondering why am I looking for rumored phones, well consider this as a stupid thing that I always do with things I want to buy.
According to the budget,I will say that I can give 500-700$
I want the phone mostly, for emails, organizer, calendar, browsing on the internet, movies and most important for development.
So which one you recommend?I have heard tons of things for each phone. Please justify your answer. It would be really helpful!

Either the Htc One X or S3 don't ever buy an LG
Thank you for your answer. What is wrong about LG phones?Which one do you prefer most Htc One X or the S3 and why?
I noticed that the thread is in LG Revolution thread.I think I messed it up!
I think I've had enough.
I finally get my Revo where I want it, but continue to run into issues with accesories and a little ticked about no ICS. So, I plan to call Verizon and convince them to give a new phone. With that said it looks like the 4G options(No LG) are as follows:
1) RAZR MAXX
2) HTC Rezound
3) Galaxy Nexus
I'm looking for a good phone with a lot of support here on XDA. Any advice would be appreciated.
Nexus
Galaxy Nexus
I am never buying another LG. Im sticking to Motorola or HTC! This is my first android phone and while I appreciate the dev suppor here LG has totally let us down on this one. Plus Motorola and HTC have a way larger following and how HTC allows unlocked bootloaders im impressed!
LG Spectrum
The LG Spectrum seems like a quality phone. It's the big brother of the Revo and has ICS

But it'll never have the Dev support of say an Htc or Samsung phone.
Does anyone know if any plans to bring the Samsung Note to verizon at all?
In light of the new verizon unlimited plan policy, where should I buy a new phone, and which is best bang for the buck?

It's rumored HTC is making a competitor for the Galaxy Note and it's supposed to come to Verizon this fall.

Are you leaving Verizon or are you asking where to get phones to use with Verizon because of their new policy?
So... I was on the Negri Electronics site about to buy this beast of a phone and I think, maybe I'll look at one more review. So I pull up the verge and I see this:
http://mobile.theverge.com/2012/7/9/3146268/lg-subsidiaries-quad-core-smartphone
So they are planning on releasing a new quad-core 10+ megapixel phone in September?... Bgr reported essentially the same thing. Thats only two months away! I hate to be a spoiler of sorts but this is crazy. I can't believe that weeks after they finally release their new flagship they drop this bomb on us. I'm glad I didn't buy it but at the same time it makes me kind of sad because I really wanted to love an lg phone again. Guess I'll have to wait until September

It is RUMORED to be announced in September. When do you think you'll be able to buy it given that the Optimus 4X HD is not even released in more than half of the world?

HEY...that's too cool, honestly I thought I'd never see this kind of 'argumentation' again...but here we are. During the 80's we had this running gag 'Don't buy today, tomorrow it's twice the power for half the money!'
I really advice u to wait. Not until September because I heard a rumor that in December...or perhaps January... Stay tuned!
Quad core Krait S4 Sounds nice but i'll stick to the 4x for now. This won't make it into store till December at least IMHO.

Yes this is a great phone for all matters. 4g is nice but only a concern if your carrier provides it. Only one here in Australia does, and they would not be my first choice of carrier based on previous experience.
On another note: How is LG in regards to rooting and and flashing custom roms? Coming from an older Galaxy S and first generation tab, I would ask for a comparison in regards torooting and flashing Samsung devices. I know how valuable good dev support is.

Easier than Samsung but do not expect development by lg at all. So that's the advice and ask all the lg owners, I got 6 different lg phones non of them lg update released yet, custom roms on every one. Of them or I'll still be in 2 with 1.6, or 2.2 in the others it sucks but is easier than Samsung for sure no counters or any other weird stuff

LG already released an Update for the 4x, it was 2 weeks after i bought this phone.
And they are working on the next Update (V10c).
So i think LG want to make things better, and so far they do!
