Those two little arrows forming a circle never seem to disappear.. I don't know what it's sync'ing because I only have Google+ and haven't set up any other social media. The only other thing I have on my phone that sync's data is Weatherbug Elite.
I am guessing this is a bug, but is anyone else having this issue?
It'll sync quite a bit when you first update/flash something. Go into settings>accounts and look into each individual account - you will see a very faint circle next to what is syncing. Uncheck it and recheck it. Good to go. Reboot if that doesn't do it.

The weird thing is that I cannot uncheck anything, it doesn't have a check box in "Accounts" for any of my accounts.
I figured out what the arrows are there for.
FiOS Mobile Remote. It keeps starting up for no reason too. Hopefully they fix this.
Anyone have a previous version?
EDIT: Some time today they released an update to the "FiOS Mobile Remote" on the Market and it's fixed.

Wondering if any of you are experiencing this. I set the three NC forums (general, development, themes) as my favorites in my XDA app on my NC. Seems like most of the time I go into my favorites from the XDA app, it says "Connecting to server" and then just spins and spins and never gets anywhere. The only way I can get it to actually refresh is to back out of it and then hit refresh.
Any way to stop this? It's just annoying.
I'm always having to log in every time I open the app. Anyone know why?

I also find the XDA app to be a bit quirky. At times it makes me log in and other times it doesn't. When it doesn't is when I tend to have the same problems you've mentioned. The only way I get around it is to hit the back arrow, then menu-refresh. No solutions - but glad it's not just me having issues.
Crashes for me every time I do a search. Aria with FR008 final

the login issue is so annoying. If you back out of the app completely you have to login and it throws up the admin doesnt allow this error. What i do is hit my nook button to get out of the app so the login stays active.
All the other issues described i was unable to recreate sorry :/

Same here.
In fact, the login issue happens on all devices when using the back button...

Yea, I'm glad you mentioned that. I checked with my husband last night and the app behaves the same way on his Samsung Galaxy.
I used to have an OG Droid and got the Bionic on release date. I have searched, and searched and found nothing on this topic anywhere on the internet (which I find odd). Is there a reason the "auto refresh" feature for twitter does not show up on the bionic?
Also is there another app, or does the built-in blur twitter use push notifications?
TIA
I believe it is the last reason you stated. Go to settings>accounts>twitter. Check the menus in there. There is also a place in settings that lists social status update settings. Let me look quick and I'll update.
Go into settings>battery and data manager>data services?(bottom one)>social applications. Check to see if push is enabled.

Is that only for the built-in BLUR social messaging (I knew the setting was there, but wasn't sure if it only applied to BLUR apps)? If so I cannot see any setting in the BLUR twitter account to receive notifications for tweets, is there one?
Since this phone has a native twitter client built in, I don't think you can get push from the market app - similar to FB.
My advice? Download tweetcaster. Problem solved and better app.

That doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me because the "social networking" application is pretty terrible/featureless. Tweetcaster has push notifications?
edit: Also I was on Liberty, not stock and the option still wasn't there so maybe it is something Motorola did inside of their source. I might look around at it today and see if I can find the culprit for this.
edit2:
reddit.com/r/Android/comments/j6z4p/anyone_else_notice_automatic_refresh_missing_in/
It seems this issue may not be tied to Motorola, but instead the official twitter app. However I have looked at the other twitter apps and do not see push notifications (or c2dm) mentioned anywhere.
Tweetcaster has push.

Interesting as it would not appear so by looking at the settings since the settings show different refresh times, and no option for push/c2dm. Is tweetdeck also this way?
edit: Tweetcaster definitely does not have push/c2dm messaging.
Bump. Does anyone have any idea? And if tweetcaster has push notifications how do you enable them?
TIA

heya....app data sync is the phones information that is transmitting itself to google. people details, app congigs, pics contacts...all of that. under your accounts setting, under google, you should see a tick box for app data. thats what is failing in your words. i think you should start by going into settings/apps/running/ find the sync service, force stop, clear cache and go from there. or you could just clear all your dalvik/cache in recovery if you havnt in awhile. would do some good for your processing since more mem would be avail afterward. hope this helps some.
I ended up doing a factory reset via recovery. Thanks for your help though. I now know what App Data sync is.

I'm using 2014 Moto X on Verizon Wireless with latest Google Android 5.0, everything was working well and all of the sudden I noticed that I'm not getting all notifications as I use to anymore... for example, I'm not getting notifications when I get email to Gmail or text to Goolge Voice and etc. Rebooting my phone that did not solve anything(
Any ideas?

Not clear enough to provide an exact solution, but there are quite a bit of changes made to how the user is notified with lollipop; All, Priority and None modes. Use your vol up or down key on your homescreen and make sure you chose all, then give it a try!

Only these two steps monitor the notifications. If nothing is happening, try clearing cache from the recovery. If even that doesn't help, a factory reset will do the work.

Are you sure all your sync's are on and you aren't on battery saving mode? Clearing cache wouldn't really help your cause, but in any case once you get to the android guy, tap power+vol up button simultaneously for a second and let go, repeat until you get the menu; it is a bit finicky

Sending gmail to yourself is not a good test, especially with certain routers which have problems with loop back issues. Have someone else send you an email, outside your network.

I email myself plenty of times from other emails, problem is obviously in something else, definitely not in email sending part.

I did not turn any syncing off and battery mode isn't on...
after doing Factory reset, that solved that.. but unfortunately not for long as a little bit over a week later I came back to exactly same issue AGAIN(((
You could try installing a different launcher see if this somehow kick starts notifications. I use Nova Launcher, you can get an unread count plugin for it which tells you how many missing emails, text messages, what's app messages etc you have. You may not need to install that though just nova launcher, switch to that and then back to Google Now (if you prefer it) then that should hopefully give it a kick.
So like every 20-30min or so i see "Locating GPS" popup on my phone. What is causing this? I dont remember this happening on my Nexus 5
I have the same issue. No one knows what it is?

In there you see apps that last used location maybe that will help give you a clue.

That just tells me the apps that are using location. not the order they used it.
I have a feeling its FB. Esp since this phone came with some special version that puts a unread notifications number on the icon. I went into the app and turned off all locations settings. lets see if that helps.
