My phone seems to have lost its memory. Everyone I click "Remember this choice" it doesn't, ie, when creating a calendar event I get two dialogs. Several games reset everything to defaults everytime I switch the phone on/off, and now I've lost several of the icons along the bottom of the screen, only having 'Phone' and 'Applications' left!
So I think it's time to reset everything to factory defaults, but I really don't want to lose all the installed applications or application data.
Is there a way to do this? Don't care if I have to root.
Software: XXJVO
Only backup.Titanium backup.
You can back-up with Titanium or Super Manager but after the restoration you can have more headache than the first time. The best choice is to move music, video, pictures to an sd or to the PC with Kies and after that do what you whant: format, reflash...

Hi
Here are my plan
a, Backup the following with PM Backup
- sms, contact lists, email, appointment, tasks
b, delete sms, contact list, email, appointment, tasks etc
c, Any software to backup my installed programs?
Hopefully they wont format my phone, so that i can restore my stuffs easily...
I'll share my personal experience. Every time I back up any porgram, I have stability issues either with the system or with the app itself. I have tried all the possible software and the results have been the same - insability and problems.
Mu advice is to back up the things you have listed in your first paragraph and then install all the software afterwards. That's what I do every time, I hard reset or flash.
My two cents.
Sprite Backup will back up everything on your phone's main storage including applications and all settings. I use it routinely, and it is great. I've never had any issues with performance after a restore unlike Oreilsi.... but I don't know what programs he has tried. IMO, its worth the investment, but if you don't want to buy it, there is a free trial, and all backups made with within the trial period work indefinitely.
I'm planning to upgrade and I will backup all data like contacts etc.
But programs will be installed fresh afterwards (no backup).
I think it's more stable option...

Its always a more stable option when upgrading a ROM, but if you are getting the phone back as is software wise, restoring a backup shouldn't make a difference, except for all the time that you'll save.
ok ,a quick one,i know there are similar threads about this but i am still unsure as my Z is still a 'virgin' and i need infinite information about the app backup and restore for unrooted XZ. After updated to 253. via pc companion,i feel the need of doing factory reset sorta of refresh everything you know.
But of course i cant risk losing any games data especially when i had gone really far on some games as well as other apps data.
I just want a quick and accurate answer will the backup and restore app really saves the apps data, saved games especially for big games like asphalt ,final fantasy etc?
I checked three of the boxes to backup, system apps, media and downloaded apps data with all the apps ticked below, its backing up to my SD card. (Image in thumbnail below)
After this, can i safely perform the factory reset without worries of losing any data? Any confirmed information would be appreciated, thanks.
anyone? ...
I'm taking an existing rom and removing some bloatware i don't want to run. Since this will not be a published thing, i want to personalize it some.
Is there a way i can have it set to have me logged in to google, and other apps as soon as it flashes? Maybe install few select apps and their settings, like live wallpaper.
I use dropsync paid app to sync entire memory card, say i have to replace device suddenly. That would be one of a few apps i want to have login and settings restored so when i flash rom on a blank phone, it just starts syncing and putting things back where they were on old phone. Also gCloud backup and set it to restore backups?
I could also do full wipes and never really loose anything.
Thoughts, rants?
Can someone assist me with a question I have about backing up and restoring all my content? I have an issue where my screen has stopped going black when I make a call. No issue with my proximity sensor when I run the diagnostics and I installed 3rd party apps for the proximity sensor with no luck still. Erased my devlik cache, rebooted etc no luck. So researching this issue seems I need to try erasing my data and resetting the phone back from scratch.
I have odin and my firmware downloaded to change to xsa. Before I do this I need to ensure I dont lose any of my data like pics, apps loaded and configuration for the apps etc etc. What is the best method to do this? Can I just run the Samsung Smart switch to my pc and back it up there? If I change firmware and try to restore via samsung switch will that still be ok or will it cause issues restoring my content?
I used the Smart Switch app and backed up my content onto my sd card. It worked perfectly, every app (except some Samsung apps and Whatsapp) got backed up together with their settings. Also my photos and videos (also the downloaded files) and even the galery settings were backed up. The backup and restore processes took around an hour for 30GB each.
Whatsapp needs its own backup on google drive, Samsung knows this and this is the reason why Smart Switch won't back it up - but the WhatsApp folder on your internal memory is backed up by Smart Switch.
Some app settings weren't working for me, especially mail and logins. But I didn't lost any data.
Hi all,
My phone is quite slow nowadays and has an annoying 5 second freeze every time I wake it up.
As ColorIS 13 looks to be far away in Europe I really need to factory reset.
What's the best way to do this without losing everything in my System Clone?
And is there a tool (PC?) for Oppo phones to restore apps WITH data/settings included?
Android loads can last for years, remain fast and stable if you don't do firmware upgrades/updates. Otherwise factory reset after an upgrade. Android loads can be exceptionally long lived if not screw up by the former or buggy 3rd party apps.
Try in safe mode to see if a 3rd party app(s) are the cause rather than the current core load settings.
Importing app settings even if possible invites the possibility of importing the current existing problems with it. Do a clean load if you go to the trouble of a factory reset. You should already have all critical data backed up redundantly and in order. Including backup exports for all apps that allow it especially Poweramp if you use it.
Make installable copies of all vetted apps for backup and reloads. No Playstore needed; reloads go much faster and smoother.
Use copy/paste file transfers backup and restores rather than automated transfer apps... they can cause data lose if you depend on them 100%.
Another option that's not as drastic is to reset all app settings to their default settings. It may or may not get it. It's always best to find to root cause of an issue if at all possible to prevent it from potentially reoccurring. Only a rootkit, dugged in malware or a boot loop demand a factory reset.
Unfortunately there are not many apps that provide a backup (like Nova launcher, Nights keeper etc).
That means that I would have to reconfigure dozens of apps, some of them being quite cumbersome like home automation apps.
You end up taking a few days to inventorize all settings, possible backups, passwords, accounts etc and configuring those apps again.
Google should implement the possibility to backup and restore data on an per-app basis like I used to be able to do with Titanium Backup

Try temporarily disabling Nova launcher and see if that helps. Try using the native launcher instead. Target all apps that run at boot up. Launchers are some of the few apps that can boot loop an Android.
Any signs of system instability should be taken seriously as they are the only warning you may get before a boot loop.
After 2 back to bach boot loops and full reloads in 3 days I got very organized and proficient at it That was over 2.5 years ago, that's how long this load has been running on this heavily used N10+. Still running on Pie.
How can i check which apps run at boot up?
@latino147 Swift Backup is pretty good at backing everything up, and with root can backup app data. Problem is, to attain root, you'll have to factory reset, which will wipe your data, and there's no way around that.
Yesterday I cleared the caches of several apps and suddenly everything seems to be working fine again
Do you guys know if it's possible to clear ALL caches in one swoop?
Both ColorOS and the developer options don't seem to have such an option.

Sd Maid Pro can at least on Android 9 and 10.
It clips the app caches to 20kb I think it is. If you try to go to zero it will hang on the running apps. It does a nice clean up job on stock Androids and hasn't caused any critical data lose. Can't say the same about CCleaner
