I have a Bell Incredible S and have it rooted with CWM. I installed an update for Sense 3.0, and now it won't boot past the white HTC screen. I was foolish and did not do a nandroid backup. I am wondering if anyone has a nandroid backup for this phone of any sort of ROM. Doesn't have to be stock. Help please
That doesn't matter boot into the hboot by holding volume down and power button while turning on...
Choose recovery, put a rom on your sd card and flash it.
I'm an idiot. I was trying to flash the Droid incredible cm7 and it wasn't working. Found the right ROM and flashed it. Thanks a bunch!

Hi guys:
I have rooted my phone today using SuperOneClick root. Then I have installed ROM Manager, and installed Clockwork Recovery Mod 3.0.0.5. I have being reflashing Clockwork and recovery menu via ROM Manager because when I turn off my phone and turn it up (holding up power on and vol down button) and press to go to Recovery then appears the error image that is like an Android logo, cellphone and a yellow caution sign.
¿Can you guys help me? ¿What I'm doing wrong?
Thanks!
That's the stock recovery. If you still have a stock rom, it will restore stock recovery unless you delete the following files:
/system/etc/install-recovery.sh
/system/recovery-from-boot.p

I don't understand.
I have installed to it CM7 last build. And is running without any problems, but I am scared that if I have some problem with the OS and I can't boot to recovery.
It has Clockwork Recovery Mod but I can access it unless I use ROM Manager to start it.
¿I need to delete those 2 files and It will be fixed?
Thanks!
That is definitely the stock recovery (Android with an exclamation in a triangle).
If you have CM7 installed, I've no idea how you got the stock recovery, but re-flashing another recovery should fix it. The two files I mentioned aren't included in CM7, so that's not the problem...

Agree. That's the stock recovery. Sometimes you need to apply the new recovery twice under rom manager. I did have similar experience. Install a custom recovery again. I beg it will be fine next time. Hope this help.
When I first rooted using a one click method my custom recovery would only stick for one boot. On the xda nexus one wiki there's instructions on how to install a recovery after one click root and get it to stick.
Hope this helps!

k i s-off and flashed a gingerbread custom rom and updated radio onto my incredible s. I started having trouble with sms latency and decided to downgrade the radio and rom back so i can have sane text messaging.
after restoring to stock htc backup and to my original radio my phone just boots to an htc screen for 3 seconds then reboots. i can get into hboot and run fastboot commands but _CANNOT_ get into recovery, it just goes back to the reboot loop.
Can anyone suggest a course of action i can take to fix it?
Did you restore to a backup that was a stock froyo rom?
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA Premium App
yes from when i s'off it
When you go from froyo to gingerbread you can't go back to a froyo rom because there is no way to downgrade from a gingerbread radio to a froyo radio. So right now your phone is stuck with a gingerbread radio but a froyo rom. That's the reason it is stuck in the loop.

so i gotta flash a gb radio and gb rom from flashboot, possible?
Yeah you can flash a radio and ROM with fastboot commands. Not sure of the exact commands. Or you can put the custom gingerbread ROM on your SD card as a PG32IMG.zip file and boot into the hboot screen and it will do the update automatically.

k cool thx got it outta the loop but no boot yet but i got recovery, think i can take it from here, any suggestions welcome though. ill post back when fixed with what i did.
I accidentally deleted the stock rom for it, thinking CWM backed it up, and the phone won't boot into recovery mode, so I can't flash the OpenZio custom rom onto it. Any ideas?

You don't need a rom on your phone to go into recovery, please give some more info. How did you delete your stock rom? What issues are you having when trying to go into recovery? Etc.

i'm just wondering, i did a search of the forums and didn't find anything but sorry if this has been posted or asked and answered, when i am restoring a nandroid back up do i have to flash the kernel through fastboot before restoring or does nandroid restore that as well?
I believe you'd need to flash the kernel as well that was for that nandroid back up.

Yes, depending on the rom you will need to flash the kernel before you flash the rom or else you will get a boot loop.
Thank you very much. both of you.
Hi Guys,
I currently have two HTC ONE's on Rogers. One is totally stock, and the other is unlocked with ARHD. What I'm looking to do is return the unlocked phone to totally stock without an RUU since it doesn't exist for Rogers yet... I want to do this not only for myself, but a good handfull of other users on here who want a stock Rogers nandroid + recovery to return to stock.
My logic says that on the stock phone, i should
1. Unlock the boot loader
2. Soft boot to CWM recovery
3. Take a full nandroid
4. use ADB to backup the stock recovery
5. restore it all on the unlocked device
Problem is, I really don't know how to do steps 4-5 technically. I can unlock and softboot into cwm, but how do i backup the stock recovery from there? and then how do i flash it to my ARHD phone etc? I've searched and searched and searched and really can't find all of the answers and i don't want to piece too many things together and screw it up.
Need some help, Thanks!
In the stock phone, after flash of CWM, do a nandroid backup, this is saved on sd.
You can mount the sd with CWM copy the backup to pc and after restore it in the phone with ARHD
I would suggest you read mike1986 guide

I've read Mike's guide, its good - but doesn't touch on backing up a stock recovery from a stock phone. Doing a nandroid backup doesn't backup factory recovery either, as far as I know.

I thought CWM didn't backup stock recovery partition? The whole goal of this is to have a copy of the original Rogers recovery that is unavailable to us at the moment.
