Hey guys. I have a question. I have flashed mcr rom on my o2x recently but before flashing, i saved a backup in cwm.
Now that i want to flash back to stock rom and kernel and the exact same original settings and rom, can i just restore using cwm or what do i do?
I am from Singapore using Starhub.
Thanks guys
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
The main problem is that MCR will have converted your partition to ext4, which the stock ROM can't read. As far as I understand, there are two options
1. Use http://android.modaco.com/content/l...3-for-converting-your-device-er-back-to-ext3/ but make sure you have the backup on your SD card, so before you reboot, you can restore it (if you reboot without restoring, bad things happen).
2. Use nvflash to put the stock ROM back on, and then restore your CWM backup.
But. . . someone who has done this may be able to confirm - if you want to be extra safe, check in the MCR thread.
Thnks for the reply! So cwm is actually not really a rom backup image?
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
It is, but because the disk format is changed when you install MCR, I don't think you can restore it, without changing the disk format back first (I guess it depends how low level the image goes, maybe?)

Pretty sure NAND restore would be fine.
I see.
So by right what i have to do essentially is to:
1. Convert back to EXT3.
2. Make sure my NANDRIOD backup is in SD Card.
3. Off phone and go into CWM then recover NANDRIOD.
Should be all?
Don't quite understand the nvflash. May i know what is that?
Hey guys
Question
so im an idiot and didnt make a backup of my TELUS stock firmware on the one, so i am stuck on custom roms instead of sense, which i like oddly.
does anyone have a CMW backup of the TELUS stock rom?
i would kiss you.
hell if you get it i will give you some money for a beer or 2.
cheers!

I haven't been able to find a stock ROM from Telus, as I've been looking myself. However, I did find a HTC One Telus stock nandroid backup which will work too; that's what I used.
Let me find the link for you....okay well I haven't made 10 posts yet so I can't post links....Hopefully I wont get in trouble for this.
bugsylawson[DOT]com/files/file/1824-m7-twrp-nandroid-backup-cid-telus001-1296615/
Its a TWRP nandroid backup so if you use CWM you'll have to install TWRP.
Hope this helps!

You can boot into fastboot and then boot into recovery from there.
Even if you don't have cwm installed you can always

You probably have to extract the .rar to the twrp folder. On the computer you need to extract the rar file and adb push the contents to your twrp backup location.
Next time think before you wipe system. Then you won't run into problems like these.

Think I have this figured out but just want some advice before I take the plunge! I have a Bell Mobility phone rooted with the lastest Viper Rom. Cracked my screen and want to return it for warranty...so what I gather is I need to relock the bootloader and flash the RUU?
As I cant seem to find an official Bell RUU I have downloaded this
http://bugsylawson.com/files/file/1818-m7-cwm-nandroid-backup-cid-bm-001-1296665/
Sound about right?
No RUU for Bell is available.
Only one solution I thing
1) Get S-OFF (using revone) and unlocked boootloader
2) Flash CWM custom recovery
3) Flash this
M7 CWM Nandroid Backup / CID BM___001 / 1.29.666.5
from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39588860
4) Flash any stock recovery
5) Using revone ,remove TAMPERED , Lock bootloader.
6) Get S-On
7) Return phone to service.
ps.If you made the nandroid backup before flashed custom ROM , use it, instead of item 3.
it would be better.

well, if you get a md5 mismatch there's nothing you can do, this file must be corrupt then.

ok, so since the nandroid is for cwm and you are using cwm, this can not be the problem. are you sure that you've placed the nandroid backup in the correct cwm backup folder? so in cwm you can find it under "restore" but then you get an error?
edit: your bootloader is still unlocked isn't it?

pretty sure. I made a backup of the current rom, and then placeed the backup in the same folder. The most current backup restores fine, so i dont think thats it.

great! don't worry, this is how it should be now because you've flashed STOCK-recovery all fine, now just leave it like that, use revone to lock your bootloader and finally use hasoon2000's toolkit to switch back to s-on. and voilà, you're completely stock then :highfive:

hi everyone, i have recently got a HTC one, its rooted and also has custom recovery(TWRP) installed. its currently running stock android 4.2.2 firmware and today i have download the android 4.3 ota update. when i try to install the update it boots the TWRP recovery and i m unable to update. is there any way to update without losing my data, i know i have to flash the stock recover and again try to install the update but will this erase all my data(everything). i was using samsung galaxy s3, and its case there used to be chances to loose the data.. does same happens in HTC too. i don't wan't to lose my data, its about 23GB's..

Your data shouldn't get wiped. No harm in making a backup though, just in case anything goes wrong. You'll just have to reflash twrp once you're done. Just out of curiosity, what's the software number of the update you got?

just a quick word of caution, last time I flashed back a stock recovery (and accessed it, but didnt do anything in it), I was unpleasantly surprised that it wiped my entire internal storage
be safe, and backup your stuff to your PC

All the info needed to update is here http://www.htc1guru.com/2013/10/ota/
First flash the guru reset mentioned, then the OTA•
You could use titanium backup for all your apps and manually copy all the stuff from the internal sdcard to your pc. Making a nandroid won't really help, coz then you'll be restoring an older nandroid to a phone with a newer firmware, which doesn't work well. If you're completely stock right now, you could make a nandroid, and then after updating, if you want stuff to be like before, you could restore only your data partition. Works on Viper, not sure about stock.

I would
I use Titanium Backup Pro for that (there's also a free version), both require root though. if you need a solution without root, check out Helium; i've never tried it but it should also work.
for SMS and call logs, I use "SMS Backup & Restore" and "Call Logs Backup & Restore" by Ritesh Sahu, which work better than Titanium IMHO.
Then I put everything on my PC, and I'm good to go
Okay, maybe I confused you a bit here, lets do this step by step
1. Make a nandroid of your current rom(data partition) with twrp (make sure you copy this to your pc), backup all apps with titanium backup, copy all data from internal storage
2. Flash guru reset.
3. Flash OTA.
4. Flash twrp, get root
5. Make a nandroid of the new rom (just in case), and then restore only the "Data" partition from the nandroid backup. If it works, amazing. If not, restore all apps from titanium backup. Good luck

Why I'm suggesting that you download the guru reset is that it'll ensure that you're completely stock before the OTA. having a rooted rom with all of those tweaks that anyone will generally install can cause many complications, so just to keep the process straightforward, rather do it. Leave it to download overnight By "nandroid backup of system", do you mean a complete backup or only of the system partition? Because, you need to make a backup of your data partition, not system. A complete backup will also do.

thanks for ur help guys, everything is working fine, i think volume is decreased a bit, getting less sound than previous. Do u guys know how to claim the 25GB free google drive space, i even tried to lock the boot loader but ins not working.. is there any way??
I have been rooted and using CM 10 for a few days now. Wanted to try a new ROM, so made a nandroid backup, wiped data/cache/system all that good stuff, flashed the zip.
Then my phone rebooted into the bootloaded... and nothing. Tried to select Recovery, had a screen say Entering Recovery, and then was back to the bootloader.
Hooked my One up to the computer, thinking I somehow lost CWM. Used Fastboot to flash CWM, and it showed a success, but I still cannot get into CWM to restore any backup.
I really don't want to use a RUU, is there any fix for this?
Thanks a million for any help.
EDIT: I still do show as being Unlocked.

Was the ROM you tried from the international forum? If so you may have flashed a non compatible ROM, or chosen wrong phone model in aroma. In that case the only solution would be http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2460013
