I'm looking for a cheap tablet under £100 that's ideal for kids but there are hundreds can anybody tell me what the best ones are please
Thanks in advance

From my understanding...there aren't that many that are that cheap. I mean, if you count the Kindle, yes, the Kindle is a tablet (well, it's CALLED an e-reader, but it's running Android). And there are developers that have made Android as we know and love it available on the Kindle with a little modding and hacking. Anything else at that price range? Not that I know of.
too bad you missed out on the HP Touchpad fire sale at $99 US. It can be loaded with android os via CM7!
Thanks for the replys will keep a look out

On their official website, they have put "coming soon" for 5 months!!!
5 Months is not SOON to me.. I become impatient. They produce quality articles and I read them. But now they strongly discriminated android against ipad, I blame them.
Anyone knows third party apps that can get a good read on The Economist?
I know one way, which is to buy Amazon Kindle version and read it on Kindle for Honeycomb on my xoom.
That's not the best way though, indirect and PRICY! Any comments will be helpful!
In the past 5 months Android has gone through quite a few changes. Wouldn't be suprised if that is the hold up.

You can get to The Economist through Kindle but you have to pay for it even if you have a suscription. If I remember it is quite expensive and you don't get access to their online only articles. Still worth checking out.

Hi All
this is my 1st post on XDA and I really really want to thank you all for the great help. I would like to ask if there is a way to use Amzon prime videos outside US using the same old app world wide kindle or any other solution. Any help is much appreciated
As I know, you can't. Cause it checks your location by IP as I understand...

It remains to be seen if Amazon will offer streaming video to prime subscribers outside the US. I believe this decision will materially impact the success of this device in overseas markets.
Is there still no PPTP VPN support on the Kindle then?

I bought the kf hd at best buy on Friday and have a us amazon prime account. Everything was working great the lending library. Prime videos and app store. I just flew to ecuador and now the only usable app in my kf hd is the browser. I can't access app store, can't access movies, or anything related.
Now I have to side load all the new apps that I want to install
If you are going to use your Kindle fire outside the US I don't recommend you to buy it

I was really fired up about getting my N7. I got it, rooted it, flashed it, bricked it, fixed it, flashed it, and then loaded it with all of the best games and every emulator… 2 days later I’m now bored and have no use for it no more than my android phone… I might try running a virtual PC but…I’m a little sad I lost interest this quickly. What is everyone else using their tablets for that keeps them from collecting dust?
I use mine all the time for gaming, Web browsing, splash top, wifi remote control, browsing forums, news, entertaining my 2 year old, navigation, banking and managing all my rss download feeds on u torrent, I am sure there is more I do I am not thinking of too
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
If you truly loaded up the tablet with the best games you would still be playing them and wouldn't be bored after 2 days.
u could always get a comic book or ebook reader and read some stuff idk.
I bought mine primarily to replace my older Kindle so I could get books and magazines with photos that the Kindle sucks at. I like playing Angry Birds on it, but do that mostly on my phone. I also fly my AR Drone with it. I didn't buy it to be using it all day.

Almost 5000 posts since April? No wonder you can't find life.
I just keep trying the different emulators now for gaming but i dont spend a lot of time with the tablet in my hand at all
For me it's mostly the form factor. Browsing the web, reading text, etc. is very, very nice on a 7" screen and many games just look better and play better as well. Plus I love the fact that I can install Ubuntu naively on it and basically use it as a laptop replacement if I need to.

I actually expected that to happen with me. It didn't. My 7 pretty much replaced my laptop and took half the load off my phone. I never thought I'd like a tablet but ended up pleasantly surprised.

I use mine for Netflix, textbooks, and browsing in class. Pretty useful.

I use mine for the same reasons others have posted here, but I also have been tinkering with integrating my nexus into my (rather crude) home automation system driven by arduino. With an arduino, tasker, a bit of tinkering and programming, I'm able to open/close my garage door and control my lights with tasker using voice commands or tasker widgets on my home screen.
I have been an iPhone and ipad guy since they came out years ago and recently switched all of my devices over to nexus ones and can't be happier with the openness. When I do get a bit bored with it, I try to come up with an idea to use my nexus to make my life easier and hopefully learn something new along the way.
Good luck with your quest. And by the way, if any one is interested, I can probably throw up a tutorial describing how I achieved this.

Perish the thought.
As far as I'm concerned my phone is for when I leave the house, while my tablet is for everything else. If you're bored, then it's not the fault of the device, it just means that you don't have enough interesting content on it.

I have a nexus 7, it has a good purpose.
My computers purpose is to run high end software such as 3ds max and the adobe design suite, as well as a bunch of games.
My laptops purpose is to sit in my room until i buy it a new power cord, then its purpose is to be sold, or something...
My phones purpose is to text and call people, and when i dont have my tablet on me its so i can play games and sketch.
My tablets purpose is so i can browse the web, read books, play games i dont on the computer, and to be a digital sketchpad until i can afford a medium intuos 5.
Bored with your tablet? Find a purpose for it such as netflix, reading books, sketching, incessantly flashing software until you break it, etc.

im tempted to go buy a nexus 7 today in town for £190
do you guys think its worth its money ? i have a galaxy s2 on cm10.1 jellybean 4.2 so i guess its just a bigger version of my phone
have you been dissappointed with the nexus 7 when you bought it or do you think you have got a goot tablet?
cheers guys!
I bought it for christmas for my wife.
I have a Desire HD and she has a Incredible S as smartphones.
I have a Samsung Tab 10.1.
So as mobile tab or for ebooks it's the best one I think.
And it's a very good price. For a tablet in 10.1 inch you pay 400 £.
If you want to invest 400 £ buy a Galaxy Tab 10.1 otherwise a Nexus.
You wont't be wront.

I have been surprisingly impressed with my nexus 7. I bought it at launch, and I was already heavily involved with the HTC rezound and the Transformer prime tablet. I had also had two iPads so I thought I knew all I needed to know about tablets. Had my local staples not had one in stock aftrer launch or had it been more expensive I wouldn't have tried it.
But I'm so glad I did, because the 7 inch size surprisingly makes it feel, completely different from a 10 inch, and its so handy and convenient. My favorite part is the development. I set my tablet aside for a few weeks, and when I came back to it development had increased instead of slowed, so I get to flash and help work on toms of stuff.
If you have any more questions send them on but I highly recommend trying it.

Asking this question in a forum full of people who already own the device seems a bad idea as far as getting unbiased opinions goes.

You'll be glad you bought it! I had a 10" Transformer that I could never get on with let alone take anywhere! For portability nothing beats it and you will appreciate the pure Android experience for sure. I also thought I'd miss the extra few inches but in fact I prefer it because it makes typing and playing games much easier as your not stretching to use the controls all the time nor are you fed up of how heavy it gets in your hands although I appreciate that depends on what 10" you have.
Enjoy it!
I'd say go for it. The Nexus 7 is easily my most used gadget I own.

Galaxy tab2 10.1 is only £230'ish and the note 10.1 only £320'ish
Anywho, N7 is the best bang for buck on the market. Yes it has its flaws (well some do) but it's still a tidy, fast machine.

As a guy who has owned probably half a dozen different android tablets, this guy has said most of what I would have about the n7. At home I use it more than both my laptop and Nexus phone. Out and about I'll always take it with me in preference to my laptop as it's small enough to be very portable yet still large enough to be much more comfortable to use than my phone.

These 'should I buy' threads always make me laugh.
Why not go ask in an ipad mini forum if you should buy a 7 over a mini.
I'm sure they'll all say a 7 :what:

OK how about this just compare all the other tablets to the n7. Then look at what you get for your money. Hands down the n7 is underpriced for what's inside. The only thing that it lacks is a SD slot.
Seriously why did we get the n7. Sure its a nexus but we got it because of the price its cheap and gives you the most bang for your buck.

well, sadly my nexus 7 has become so slow its almost unusable. So im thinking of upgrading to a larger tablet (8.9 inch or 10) but i am not sure which ones to look at. I want to stay below the 250 price mark so right now im leaning towards the Kindle Fire HD 8.9. Anyone have any other suggestions??? Id love to hear them.
I think you should read up and get what's right for you, in your price range. Asking others is just plain silly. We all have different tastes, needs, funds....etc.
Good luck.
P.s. Under 250 for a 10"tab?? What a dinosaur or no-name junk heap that would be.
Oh....and if you aren't willing to put forth a wee bit of effort to get your tab running like it was new again.....then I gotta suggest you try an ipad. They're neat!

Oh trust me, ive done several things to get it running properly again, its just not working. Ive tried several rom/kernel combos and nothing seems to get it to not lag. and btw ipads aren't neat
ive found the toshiba excite 10" for 250 but the reviews arent that great for it. Im just not sold on it yet...
And tablets don't just slow down either.....software does.
Hint....Google nexus 7 lag. Lots and lots will pop up!

A used iPad sounds great for you. No lag and you can probably get a 2nd or 3rd Gen for <$250.

Dude you just have to clean your tablet frequently like I do. Just install advanced system care and power saving apps. Use their widgets and put them on one page of the home screen so you don't have to use the actually apps..... Something so simple some people get rid of their devices because they didn't know it. Lol
