Has anyone else had problems running Shadowgin on the tablet with gtacomb 3.3?
i just tried it on C+C rom, it runs but has graphic glitches. some objects and path graphics are missing, but otherwise it plays fines
Yep running flashback 10 and it wont dl game data past 25%. Same is happening on alot of HC phones/tablets. My friend is running a froyo rom on his gtab and he said it runs great.
I tried it on Flashback HC rom and it wouldnt work, i then tried it with C+C and it flows smooth except that alot of the background images are not there. I wish someone knew a fix for this. So in other words, the game is playable with C+C but alot of the graphics are missing.

I abandoned flashback and went back to mountain laurel and shadowgun runs perfectly without any glitches or missing graphics. This game is amazing! Best tegra 2 game yet! Also runs normal on brilliant corners.

Thanks for the info. i'll definetly try it on the mountain laurel rom.
Will not install past 25% on Gtabcomb 3.3. I think I've just about had it with the lack of a stable honeycomb rom on this tablet.
On Beasty and Clemsyn rom the game (version 1.0.2) can be installed without problems, but it's so f**king slow that there is no way to play to it.
I also think that some objects were missing, but I'm not sure because the gameplay was so slow that I couldn't even move around to confirm that.
Crashes on VEGAn 5.1.1
It installed fine and plays the cut scenes great but once the actual game starts and I start to move my player around and begin shooting my screen gets black for a few seconds and then the desktop appears without any of the icons/widgets on it and runs super sluggish until I reboot it. Sometimes it reboots itself but not always.
This 15 minute refund window sort of blows. Especially with games like this that you have to download additional content (250 MB for this one) that eats up that 15 minutes.
Tried it on CM7 and it crashed too. In fact, it didn't even get as far as when I ran it on VEGAn 5.1.1.
I was on gtabcomb 3.3, installation stopped after 25%, so downloaded sd data from external link but game always crashed upon loading after intro hd movie
then i tried tnt lite, game ws running fine but it had many glitches
then i installed mountain laurel, the game ran quite well and everything was perfect other than the fact that i cannot connect my external ps3 dualshock 3 to it
is there any way to connect it since the sixaxis controller app for gtablet is not able to connect my ds3 with gtablet, it was working fine with gtabcomb....
I tried it on Montain Lauren and I still have mising graphics. It sucks that even games developed for Tegra devices can' work well on our tablet.

That's what im running and I have no glitches or missing graphics. Im using the kernel that came with it. Did u put a different kernel on it? A couple times it ran choppy so I used the task manager and ended all tasks and then it ran smoothly.
im just gonna have to wait till someone updates my ROM.
Used Chainfire 3D with Plug-ins to make it work a bit
I have a gTab running VEGAn 5.1.1 and Shadowgun would crash/force-close/reboot my gTab as soon as gameplay would start. It would play fine for the cut scenes but as soon as the cut scene was finished and you were allowed to move your character around the game would quit.
I almost gave up on the game after I paid money for it but then read about this app in the Market called Chainfire 3D (there a free version and a paid version - the paid version is what I used to make this work). After I installed the free version first and then upgraded to the paid version and then installed the plug-ins (3 in all - I saved them to the root of my sdcard) and then went into the settings for it and selected Shadowgun in the list of Per-app OpenGL settings and unchecked the Use Default Settings and played around with the other settings to see if I could get this game to run. The ones I am using now are Reduce Texture Quality and Disable MapBuffer EMU.
After setting this up I was able to actually play a part of the first level without the game crashing. I've attached the plug-in files as they are a bit hard to find on the net (but you can find them via Google with a bit of luck).
Hopefully this helps some folks.
Update: here's a helpful link with instructions. http://brockhatfield.com/2011/11/01/tutorial-shadowgun-on-non-tegra/
Another Update: After messing with this for a while and actually trying to play through the first level I began to experience crashes and reboots again. So, I've sent the developers of both Chainfire 3D and Shadowgun and politely asked them for refunds. Hopefully they will agree.
I have no problems running it on mountain laurel but I know everyone has their own favorite rom. The only bad thing about chainfire is your losing out on some of the great HD & effects.
Success finally.

After reading your post I decided to make the leap from 1.1 bootloader ROMs to the 1.2 bootloader version ROM you mentioned. It was a real pain due to the fact that each time I installed the VTL Launcher my gTab crashed and force closed like crazy and wouldn't let me even get to the home screen.
I had to hard boot it each time (I tried this three times just to make sure that was the problem) and had to NVFlash to the original 1.1 bootloader rooted ROM and then using ClockworkMod I had to flash the latest stock version 3588 TnT Rom. This gave me the stock restore option which I then used to flash the latest Mountain Laurel ROM from Roebeet.
With Mountain Laurel I am able to play Shadowgun without any of the aforementioned issues and I didn't have to use any third-party apps like the Chainfire 3D app I mentioned in my earlier post. It's not as fast as VEGAn 5.1.1 but I guess we can't have everything.
Anyway, my only issue now is not being able to use the VTL Launcher with this ROM. I've read the posts on that other site I won't mention but I haven't had any luck. Every time I install VTL Launcher and restart my gTab it goes into force close mode and becomes unusable. I read that the ADW Launcher has the same issue with this ROM.
Aside from that problem I like this ROM. It runs everything I ran on VEGAn 5.1.1 and then some (Shadowgun).

Yeah, I love this tablet because it was one of the first out of the gate last year with the hardware that it comes with but I am with you on the frustration. Although I have to mention that I played the entire first level and I didn't notice any missing graphics. I am using the stock Mountain Laurel ROM without any custom CPU overclocking or modified kernels.
I already sold my other gTab and might finally decide to part with this one once I get a chance to play with the soon to be released Asus Transformer Prime with the quad-core chip.
Until then I still get plenty of use out of this one and I thank all of the modders, hackers, crackers, tweakers and coders that have put in all the effort and sharing the results they discovered and developed during the past year to make this tablet truly useful.
I´m new here, and i have a problem...
I have downloaded Shadowngun for my Sony Ericsson WT19i, and everything went well.
The main menu started up smotthly, and when I started a New Game for the first time, the intro showed. I watched the whole intro, and just when I was about to play, the game FORCE CLOSED for no reason! :<
Can ANYONE please help? I am dying to play it!

Hello Everyone!
First Thanks to everyone who worked, working & will work on Android Development, specially for XPERIA X1.
And Thanks everyone who wants to help his/her friends in this big community that I learned a lot from.
The Purpose of this thread is listing all the apps that work properly on the X1.
Because as you know we have some hardware & software limitations in X1's Android such as:
Hardware: lack of accelerometer, compass & capacitive touchscreen; slow cpu ,etc. Software: lack of excellent drivers ,power management issue, etc.
So a list may be useful.
Then if you're agree, Let's start.
Please Don't list the names only. It would be better to include: A short explanation about the app or game & version number, the build you are using, the kernel you're using, how it works for you (for example laggy or smooth), & everything you think is necessary to run it & everything you think necessary to say.
I will try to keep the list updated.
Thanks

I like the idea. Let me start:
Doodle Jump (game) - game works smoothly, you just have to disable "Tilt" in options. Last time tested with 28-09-2010 CyanogenMod build + latest xdandroid kernel.
Fennec (web browser) - after waiting 5 minutes for fennec to start, interface showed up, but device froze (i had to do soft reset). Not recommended. Last time tested with 27/9 Tremere's Froyo.
Aldiko (eBook reader) - interface is little slow and sluggish, but it works without problems. Even functions like brightness control and turning pages with volume buttons. Last time tested with 28-09-2010 CyanogenMod build + latest xdandroid kernel.
Dolphin HD (web browser) - speed is about the same as stock android browser. It works fine. Last time tested with SuperFroyo build.
3d games working with CyanMod 6 (03.10.10):
fruit ninja-perfectly
ninja kaka-a lil bit worse
gangstar (gta analog)-perfectly
sandstorm-like on iPhone, smoooooth
N.O.V.A by Gameloft-having some lags
about 21 fps in each game i tested.
hey, yesterday i noticed an interesting fact- some android games which require accelerometer can be played on xperia without it (like Doodle Jump which we can try disabling "tilt")!!
plz someone test some of accelerometer games!)

Hi there people.
As I'm interested in using android on my xperia, I just wanted to know how people manage to run 3d applications like N.O.V.A or Gangstar ?
I'm using Cyanogen Mod 6.0, that supports 3D(hope so).I wanted to know how people launch
3D games, because I could only run the 3D Racer from android market.Any other game I try to launch doesnt succeed (loading, black screen, error).
Thanks, and sorry for bad English.
Gameboid, Snesoid, Nesoid and Gensoid work well with Trememer's new build.
It works **** on Cyanogen. I wouldn't compare the two builds in performance but in terms of gaming tremere's>cyanogen

I also have the same problem on [CyanogenMod6 Update 03-10-2010] and [Barebone][CM6.1][11-10-2010] too. But I've just downloaded SD Files for each game and copy on SD card to gameloft folder, maybe we have to download additional files via WiFi and it will work? Unfortunately I don't have free WiFi connection :/ I also try Gameloft Game Launcher, but it didn't help for me. Maybe someone write a tutorial how to launch this games? We would be very grateful. Regards
Sorry for my english.
hi,
I tried The 3d talking tom cat,first time it didn't work,but after rebooting,it worked but a little laggy(low fps)
but i think in CM6 3d working it should work smoothly with good fps.

Can you upload some videos how you play that games? I tried million times, but any 3D game from gameloft doesn't work :/
Using "finally usable" release ( can't remember actual name right now)
Paper toss - Bad framerate. Animations are far from smooth, but still playable.
Angry birds - weird "scanlines" appear randomly. Also game won't respond when i start (or I just don't know how to play)
What about puting gathered data to first post?

Works fine for me on calkulins Tom. I want to say that is one of the apps I restored via titanium from my Droid backup though
Cant get it to work on BC
Works fine for me on Vegan GE 7.0.0 Stable RC1.
This is just a guess, but it may have something to do with HR3D trying to get some kind of device information from build.prop on what platform it is running on.
As more background info, I had this app working fine on Vegan 7 GingerEdition, and it works fine on VeganTab 5.1.1 Froyo.
I loaded AOSP Ginger with HC elements...modified build.prop with Sprint info to get some more market apps, and then restored HR3D and I've had this same message ever since...
I just haven't had time to play around with it quite yet, but I'm guessing that replacing the build.prop might get this thing working...
I would love to be able to play vs mode with my gtablet. I am running deck's 2.3.4 for gtablet. the game runs fine just no vs mode. Someone has to know how to get it to work.
With all the different roms and different versions I'm getting really confused and which roms can do what.
I've tried phiremod v2 and cm7 nightlies and the youtube app doesn't work at all in either. Youtube in the browser I couldn't get to work in phiremod v2. I can watch youtube if I change my user agent to desktop with cm7 nightly but it's choppy.
Can somebody enlighten me as to what I should be running if I want working and smooth flash videos?
This is not an answer to your question -
But if the widespread rumors are correct, then the B&N Stock NC will be updated to 2.2 with Flash by the end of the month, and then if you root that, you will be able to sideload Youtube App for Froyo to that. In fact, the update is supposed to include a B&N Market, and one would expect B&N to have all the Free Google Apps in their Market at startup. (But that's just speculation.)
Flash Player 10.2 working for me
I downloaded Flash Player 10.2 earlier today and it installed and works much better. I am running Phiremod 4.1. I got the APK from: freewarelovers(dot)com/android/app/adobe-flash-player
It's important to remember that Flash is an application framework that can deliver video among MANY other things. If you're looking for a FLV video player, then the performance still is not here: it requires hardware support and we don't have the drivers yet.
BUT, if you want to play games and use interactive websites written in Flash, then try out 10.2. It is WAY more functional.
Interesting. Are you saying that there are no roms with smooth playing flash video? It seems odd to me that everybody is so happy with these roms when they can't watch any flash video smoothly.

To specifically answer your question, smooth video is supported in Eclair (the native Nook rooted ROM) and, I think, it plays acceptably in Froyo; although I could be mistaken.
A lot depends on the size/quality of the video; standard definition (640x480) should play acceptably well in either of those OS versions. Higher definition may stall from time to time.
Gingerbread 2.3 (CM7, etc) still does not have working drivers for the hardware assist features of the chipset, and hardware assist is essential to smooth video playback.
Here are the specs on Nook Color CPU/GPU (from Androidtablets.net):
CPU Processor: ARM Cortex A8-based Ti OMAP 3621 @ 800 MHz (same processor as Droid 2 and Droid X)
GPU Processor: PowerVR SGX530 Graphics Rendering: Open GLES1.1/2.0 Hardware Scaling: 854x480 scaled to 1024x600 Video Formats: .3GP, .MP4, .3G2 ** Video Codecs: H.263, H.264, MPEG-4, ON2 VP7 ** Image Formats: JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP ** (same GPU as Droid 2 and Droid X)
As you can see, the GPU can support a native resolution of 854 x 480 (which is scaled in hardware to 1024 x 600); H.264/MPEG4 video (which FLV is a kind of) can be decoded in the hardware with the appropriate drivers. At present, all the players have to do this through software, which frankly is beyond the capability of the CPU at 800 MHz or even overclocked at 1.1 GHz.
We need to be patient; those hardware drivers will come.
Ok, I think I get it now.
So the stock rom is the only option at the moment for smooth youtube and flash, correct? The Froyo, Gingerbread and Honeycomb roms do not have hardware decoding support?
So why are so many people running these other roms if they are missing a major function like that? What does CM7 and the other roms do that the stock rooted rom can't? Market?

I am not sure whether the Froyo rom can play video smoothly. It does on Droid and other phones, so I would guess those drivers have been tried out. I had Froyo on my Nook Color for a while, but frankly can't remember how the video was.

It depends on what you need/want. For me, the text handling of Froyo was awful. I have a HTC EVO 4G (with Sense UI on top of native Froyo). On my phone, I can type pretty effectively. The user dictionary is fast and smart and if I make a mistake, I have an arrows-equipped keyboard to move the cursor to the text I want to correct and fix it.
Froyo (Android 2.2) on both my Nook Color and my Viewsonic G-Tablet were nothing like my Evo. The keyboard often got what I typed wrong and when I tried to set a cursor to make a correction, it would end up one letter off. I tried out a bunch of keyboards - some with arrows - and had an OK Froyo-based system, but as soon as a decent Gingerbread-based ROM came along (and Phiremod's is EXCELLENT!), I went with that.
In Gingerbread, you have a much more accurate keyboard and dictionary lookup. The keyboard still doesn't have arrows, but you have a very nice cursor positioning tool, plus the ability to select a little or a lot of text and copy/paste it anywhere throughout the system.
But, as you note, certain of the multimedia features aren't there yet. Since I use my tablets more as very handy computers and less as multimedia entertainment systems, the choice was pretty straightforward for me. I can wait a few weeks for video playback.
And, frankly, the reason a lot of people get excited about roms - and having lots of different roms - is because they are fun in and of themselves. They like to tinker. And with the Nook, if you have a few bucks to buy a couple of micro SD cards, you can have two or three swap-in brains that completely transform your tablet. And take them out and still have a factory fresh Nook reader. It's really kind of awesome when you think about it.
But your mileage will certainly vary. If high definition is a deal breaker for you, you may find the Nook ultimately inadequate even when the Gingerbread drivers (and eventually Honeycomb drivers) come out. There's only so much power under this hood. A tablet based on Tegra 2 (like the Viewsonic G-Tablet or Xoom) may be more what you're looking for. With the right drivers, though, we should get perfectly acceptable 480p playback.
glg
The rom you are looking for is nookiefroyo. I have great YouTube playback in app including high quality. In browser 360p plays fine, but anything above that is choppy.
I also have tested other flash websites. CNN was perfect, as was megavideo.
I purchase my nook a few days ago and thus far nookie froyo looks to be the latest and most complete rom out. That plus the softkey theme I installed and the honeycomb keyboard makes this tablet a force to be reckoned with. I might even have to post a video soon because I'm so amazed atnhow well this thing runs.
I'm on CM7 Android 2.3.3 and am very happy. Not sure if it's the websites I've been on or what, but pretty much all non-HD flash works flawlessly for me. I've OCed my NookColor to 925mhz and have tried probably 5 or 6 different websites (including youtube and zomganime) Certain embeded flash players work better than others I"ve noticed, also, so not sure why that is, but so far I'm very happy. I even was running 3 flash videos (just to test it out) at once the other day, only one was choppy beyond watching. Oh I'd also like to note that it SEEMS to work better with Dolphin Browser, but that could again just be the website(s) I was on.
Sure not having a YouTube app kinda sucks, but the desktop website works fine.
Just a little notice, YouTube app doesn't use Flash for playback, it grabs MP4 version of a video stream, which is meant to play on mobile devices.

As in audio and video actually work smoothly (and are in sync)? What version of CM7 are you on?
I would like to know as well.
I'm on the latest CM7 Nightly and just installed the OC kernel. Youtube videos at 360p are playing ok now, but the audio is out of sync.
I might have to give Nookie Froyo another try. Interesting that the Youtube app works so well for you. I could have sworn that I would just get an error every time I tried to play anything.

Eclair does hardware video decoding but no flash. Froyo and cm7 both do flash and froyo has you tube and video harddware support. However froyo for me at least has buggy wifi and screen of death issues which made it non viable for me. Hope this helps.
From Nook Color dual boot with CM7
That does help. Thanks for the clarification.
I've heard good things about Nookie Froyoa so I will probably give that another try. I find it a little frustrating that there is not a single rom with everything working, but I know that's just the norm for hacking together roms. Oh well... Hopefully the update coming from B&N will help iron out the few issues that are left.
Honestly, most of my time will be spent reading, web browsing and playing a few games. I would just like to be able to pull up a funny video for friends every once in a while. I don't plan on watching movies or anything on it.

Agreed I had thought froyo would be best compromise as it was fast had dsp and flash working, but the sleep of death and wifi connection issues led me to rebooting the thing many times/day which was a real pain.
For now I have a dual boot setup (see thread in development forum) So that I boot into eclair or CM7. This way I do most of my activities in or other rom and reboot into the other when I need say to watch a video or use stock B&N reader.....
Another thing I haven't really thought about. How does battery life compare between the roms? I seem to remember comments here and there about CM7 roms having worse battery life than froyo or stock.
I would suggest to those trying Nookie Froyo on eMMC now to try the kernel posted in post #770 of the Dalingrin kernel thread on the development forum. For myself and several others this kernel is solid and yields no wake or wifi issues whatsoever. Until a more stable interactive govenor kernel is developed this is the one I'll stick with.

Indeed. I'm a nooknoob but long time techie and am brimming with questions. Is that quote accurate -- that reverting to "factory fresh" state can be as simply as removing your SD card? (Because that's not the impression I've been getting; I thought you needed to do the 8 failed boots thing and/or reload ROMs.)
Hmm, guess not. I just noticed the thread titled "[HOW-TO] : Restore Nook Color back to stock EASILY".
I believe you can run most of the roms from the sd card without modifying the internal system. I don't know if you can do it without rooting though. You might have to root, then you an try roms on sd card. Someone else will have to confirm that or tell me I'm wrong , as I've not tried any of the sd card versions.

Version 3.4.2 works nicely on stock 1.1.
Frank
it also works on cm7.. as well as most gameloft apps.
So how do you get it to fill the entire screen. I've got Nova 3.4.2 running but its only filling a small, phone sized portion of the screen.
EDIT: I tried unchecking Compatibility Mode in Spare Parts but although the game now fills the screen it still isn't right. The menu only renders a small part of the screen and when I get in a game a bit of the top is missing.

Mind sharing exactly which games (and their version numbers) that work on CM7? For the life of me, I could not get one single game from them to work. What am I doing wrong...
In my testing against CM7.0.2, all versions of N.O.V.A. HD _except_ 3.1.3 (which force closes) and 3.5.4 (which locks up with a white screen while trying to play video) work fine on the Nook. Ironically, the icon shows up correctly only with 3.5.4 (which again does not work).

Thanks! Interesting to note that version 3.1.3 for the Galaxy Tab doesn't work as that's the one I got. Would have thought similar A8 processor would be a good thing, maybe the slight gpu difference? Gonna test out a pull from a friend's Droid, hopefully that should work in my CM7 Nook.
So as the title states, I'm trying to take advantage of some of the killer deals being offered in the "new" Google Play Store. I downloaded Dead Space, Shadowgun, NOVA 2 and a few others.
The issue I seem to be having are with the more "graphically" intensive games, like the ones I previously mentioned, fully installing and or running on the device.
I suspect that the apps believe I'm using an iPad but I know others have been able to run these games from their Androidified Touchpad.
Was just curious if anyone knows a workaround or a solution on getting these games to install and/or run properly?
Thank You

No, the apps in the app store will never think your device is an iPad. Apps might look at the device's build.prop to determined compatibility. There is a modded build.prop you can download that changes the device to trick the market and apps that you're running a compatible device.
Samsung Captivate CM9 - Glitch Kernel | HP TouchPad CM9 - Bricked Kernel
Yeah, it's definitely not thinking you're on an iPad. However, it may be kind of similar since there is no official Android Touchpad, we have to mimic other devices. You may want to try the "rohan" update in the Dev section as it modifies parts of your build.prop. I was able to Shadowgun to download and start up. I still had problems with Dead Space, and havent' tried the Gameloft games yet.
I can confirm Dead space does NOT work with Rohan build prop on cm9 alpha 2. ShadowGun works great, its the best mobile game I've played, looks like gears of war on xbox360!!
I haven't been able to get any of the EA games to install (download additional files after market install). Tried with and without rohan mod. Nova 2 and Shadowgun work fine. Nova 2 was a kinda buggy
I also downloaded SHADOWGUN, NOVA 2, and DEAD SPACE. Shadowgun works fine on stock CM9 with no mods to build.prop...I tried to edit my build.prop and ended up having to restore a backup. if it does not work on CM9 i am thinking of loading my CM7 backup and editing the build.prop in there then update to CM9 with the games installed....dunno if it will work but might be worth a shot.
went off this link:

Edit:
CM7 with build.prop set to HTC Desire S allowed all GAMELOFT games to install and function (backstab, nova 2, and 9mm all work fine) DEADSPACE requires a 3g connection so i dont know how to get that going at all....
did HTC Desire S from info off this site:

I too can't get Dead Space to download the game data. I changed my build prop to 3 different devices, and nothing works. Bummer, I really wanted to play this game.
Funny that dead space works perfectly for me on cm9 a2. Guess I might have been lucky..

Dead space works fine on my stock tp running cm9 nightly 3/3 or 3/4
I finally got Dead Space working on mine. No matter what build.prop I would change it to, it would not download the game data. So I downloaded the data with my evo3d and then transferred it over. Working perfectly now.
