i was using using Darky's Rom previously and am using CWM. I haven't done anything since i first rooted it and flashed the kernel using Odin.
I then tried changing Kernels using the Darky Rom app, but i got these blue eyes that kept blinking every few seconds, i should of made a thread then cos i could at least using my phone for around 30seconds but i wiped data and now it gets Bootlooped with the Galaxy Splash start up.
I tried using CWM to flash but it gets an error.I'm gonna try again now and i'll edit the error into this post.
EDIT: I tried flashing 01_Darkys_v10.0_Extreme_Edition_RC3 and i get the error Amend scripting is no longer supported. Amend Scripting was deprecated by Google in Android 1.5. Was necessary to remove it when upgrading to ClockworkMod 3.0 Gingerbread based recovery, please switch to Edify scripting (updater-script and update-binary) to create working update zip packages. Installation aborted.
Would it be ok for me to flash to Darky's V10 again or should i just go to stock and carry on from their? but how should i do stock as i can't use CWM and it won't connect to Odin.

[Q] Help With Custom Rom installation.

Hi there,
Since gingerbread with most probably be the last update for SGS i would like to install a custom mod.
Now i have been trying to do this (darky 10 RC4) for the past 2 days.
I followed Darky's instructions then i had a problem with the CWM only accepting "edified" script.
So i downloaded rom manger and tried to downgrade ta 2.5 but as soon as i tap on the 2.5 it immediately comes up with an error, "an error occured while flashing your recovery."
this is done on a 2.3.3 JVB SGS with CWM 3 installed (orange text).
Are there alternate routes? maybe downgrading to android 2.2 installing an older version of darky and than upgrading the darky rom?
any help is much appreciated.
thanks
Download the rom CWM-zip and put it in your internal sdcard.
Download some froyo-kernel (yes, froyo) with CWM 2.5. Speedmod for example. Then flash it with Odin repartition and auto-reboot unticked. When the flashing process is completed, pull the battery and then boot to recovery (3 button combo). Now you have CWM 2.5 and you can flash the CWM-zip from there.
thanks, i wil try that.

Sorry. With CWM-zip I meant the Darky's Rom.zip, which can be flashed through CWM.
it didnt work, u just gave up.
hopefully some new rom update that is edified will show up in a couple of months
Install supercurio hacked kernel, it has recovery 2.5 instead of 3.0.0.5. From there you should be able to install darky's rom. If the new version of his kernel is recovery 3, tell me i'll send the old one just for the purpose.
Hi,
ok last attempt
i flashed ( odin PDA, no pit and no repartition) with this link:
Kernel Download:
Gingerbread-GT-I9000-stock-kernel+hacks.tar
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=975349
while i was on
PDA_I9000XWJVB - PHONE_I9000XXJVK - CSC_I9000XEEJV3
rooted with root CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVK-v3.1-CWM3RFS
and lag fixed with CF-Root-ext4-v1.2
and it forking worked red text 2.5 THANKS A BUNCH!
edit just a problema. it is only booting in CWM.
reattempting this without the lag fix.
2nd attempt with PDA_I9000XWJVB - PHONE_I9000XXJVK - CSC_I9000XEEJV3
and without lag fix not rooting.
phone stuck looping at booting with strange sound on each boot loop
3rd attempt with rooting, but no lagfix
If you are only rebooting in recovery, did you flash the new kernel, then reboot recovery ? if yes, the easy way to get out, is to reboot in download then reflash the wanted kernel (Since your rom is installed, you can install any kernel (GB of course)) then, it will reboot in recovery again and just reboot system now. This should fix your problem.
edit : Dont forget to get CF-root 3.1 for JVB and not JVK.

root CF-Root-XW_XEE_JVB-v3.1-CWM3RFS
lagfix CF-Root-ext4-v1.2-Addon
and
Gingerbread-GT-I9000-stock-kernel+hacks
and the zip is in progress.
ps it wasnt stuck the previous time, i was pressing the middle key as the selection while i should have been pressing the power button.
thanks for your help very much appreciated.
if i get some free time i will write at tutorial since i could not the solution.
This isn't development, moved to Q&A

Problem installing Clockwork Mod

Hi all,
I just tried to install clockwork mod by flashing a kernel using odin something I have done dozens of times on my SGS. I was using a kernel file called CF-Root-XX_XEU_JPY-v1.3-BusyBox-1.17.1.tar which as I have said I have used many many times.
Only this time I end up with a phone stuck after boot and apparently force closing in the back ground (the single vibrate followed by the double)
So I am able to 3 button recover it and use darkyy's ressurection rom to bring it back to life.
However I would still like to put this back to a stock rom with CWM and then the voodoo lagfix and sound kernel. Especially since this isnt my phone and the ressurection rom has several bugs.
But everytime I flash a CWM solution it does not work any idea? I end up with either 2e or 3e recovery? it is very strange.
Anyone have any ideas?
Oh and I even tried installing CWM using rom manager and that failed?

[Q]A problem in flashing mini(stuck at samsung screen)

I rooted my mini and then reverted back to factory settings(froyo).
Then,
using odin, with TASS_v1.0.ops and tass-recovery-cwm.tar I flashed Clockworkmod.
Using CWM, as said in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1167750, I installed update-cm-7.1.0-GalaxyMini-KANG-signed-09102011.zip. I wiped data and cache before and after. But still after reboot, My screen is stuck at samsung splash.
possible mistake:- using tass-recovery-cwm.tar on froyo as said in a forum. There, CWM-Froyo.tar was used for flash which I repeated to no vail.
Device is Indian.
I want to have a Cyanogenmod 7 ROM
edit:- Now, if I use tass-recovery-cwm.tar while flashing with odin, I nomore get a recovery screen
Since I couldn't do anything, I just rolled back over to GB again.
To get cmw working you need to have GB. After you can successfully install cm 7 following the guide
Yes.
My changing to fyro was accidental.

Captivate_Stuck_on Start Screen....

Hello all,
[DEV][RC2]ICSSGS Source [Android 4.0.3]
I have tried to flash my phone with the ICS....I made a mistake at the starting...instead of wiping out the data I have tried to flash it directly and i got blank screen showed up.....
Then, I have downloaded oneclikc ODIN and flashed it with speedmode kernel.....and able to start recovery mode...but I am not able to flash ICS from my SD(external card) and I have tried to reboot the phone and it got stuck on reboot screen......
But I am able to got to recovery mode using KEY combination and download mode using key combination and USB cable.......
I really need a way to fix this.....
Please tell me how to at least get access to external SD card from recovery screen....
Thank you......
Flash a kernel with CWM 5.x. It has the option to install zips from the external SD. Most roms now require CWM 3.x or newer to flash. I believe Speedmod uses 2.x. If your recovery menu is green, you need a newer recovery and thus, a newer kernel, to flash.

Thank you for your help...
I have tried flash different kernals....but still when i entered the recovery mode i am still seeing speedmod kernal....(green Color)....I am not sure of what to do...
here is what I am doing....
I am connecting the phone to Computer in Download Mode using ODIN....
then using PDA I am updating the kernal....most of the times it said success....
and when I go back to recovery I can still see the green menu.......
I am not able to access ICS, please help me out with this.....
Thanks
By any chance have a update.zip in your sdcard?
no I don't think so.....i tried to do it couple of times...... but it said that there is no such file
Seems you just might have flashed a very old stock rom. I recommend just flashing stock KH3 w/ boogs kernel. That's always worked wonderfully for me.

P1000 Stuck on Recovery

Would appreciate if someone could help me with my problem - I had earlier used CF-Root to root and install recovery which went off well, took a nandroid backup and then tried to flash CM9 through recovery. WIthin a few seconds it rebooted, showed the Cyanogenmod splash screen and went back into recovery - only this time it was a newer recovery (6.0.0.2) than what CF-Root had installed. I'm not able to install through zip file and for some reason I am not able to restore from nandroid as it says the md5 does not match. So as of now I am stuck in recovery.
To add to this, I realize that I messed up as the instructions said to update to a GB rom if coming from Froyo, which I did not notice. Any idea what I can do from here? If I can still run through this process can someone point me in the direction of a suitable GB ROM I can install? My end goal is to be on CM9, but right now would just be happy to get back to the stock GB ROM as well.
Flash to the stock firmware again? at SamMobile? That is what I did when my device did not boot up after installing CWM recovery and some rom.

Thanks sos_sifou - worked great! I think I'll stick with the Overcome GB ROM for a while as it works pretty good, and look at CM9 / 10 whenever it gets stable!
