Sorry I'm just a newbie here and I was bit confuse in some words, could someone please give the meaning or definition of the following words:
WWE
cook
kitchen
- WorldWideEnglish (language of the system)
- cook = person who makes/compiles a rom, adding ingredients (apps, settings) to his taste.
- kitchen = software to build plus ingredients
"to cook" also means "to build"
@caliban2, congrats with new device
hrhr, thx.
i love it and i miss my x1 with winmo. and yet i'm happy. (nope, i don't understand that myself. ^^)
Thanks so much

I still waiting of that
cheers

Tuatara is busy, but he is giving advice to the current devs. The latest Helmi are pretty impressive in terms of performance.
XDA Devs are much more cooperative than competitive, the knowledge is shared here, and everyone wins.
YES.... i think is not competition to make a ROM .. but everybody share to make the best for all of us
cheers

Just to be a little more helpful:
If you just want a working ROM, you'd better go with one of the Helmi ROMs.
BUT, if you want to roll-your-own, adding custom software packages you want to it, your choice is Bepe ROM kitchen.
I believe Bepe is about to release package version 1.3 of his ROM Kitchen soon, so you might want to monitor the Topic and wait for that.
If you just want a working, stable, fast ROM with just a few niggles pending, you will want to choose 1 of the 2 available Helmi ROMs:
Helmi 1.3.2, or Helmi 1.1.2.
Helmi 1.3.2 is based on AKU 3.2, which is the newest windows AKU available. the problem is that some packages have compatibility issues with it.
Helmi 1.1.2 is based on AKU 2.6, which is a little bit older, but more compatible with existing software (e.g: Microsoft Voice Commander). Most nice stuff is available here. (push mail is a feature added in AKU 2.3 for example).
Both ROMs a pretty much in sync when it comes to performance tweaks and bugfixes.

Excellent advice! I've (as said) been very busy with 'Real Life(tm)' things, which has kept me from the ROM Editing world for quite some time. I do plan to get into this very soon, as I do want "the latest and greatest" on both my BA and Himalaya ...
My 'plan' (if it can be called that) is to merely "enhance" the capabilities and amazing progress which Bepe and Helmi have made with the ROMs (with the help of everyone here!) - in working more from a ROM Kitchen end of the spectrum, as I prefer to "roll my own ROM".
I'm first going to look at the tookit chain, and see how that can be improved and enhanced to handle error conditions, compression considerations (IMGFS / UPX), and ROM Space allocation calculations. At present the ROM Toolkit is a bit 'try and see', and I'd like to make it more "go, no go". A bit of creative application development and I couldn't see why it can't run many times faster, with much better error reporting - especially for assembly processing, registry collisions, or package issues.
My additional goal would be a solid "base OS" from which all packages - including the AKU support, and OEM elements, could be readily added - and possibly adding a "auto-run" or "auto-install" section (like a mini-EXTROM - just built-in), maybe adding "ROM Based Owner Info", and some other ideas I've had. This would permit everyone to build their own private & custom ROM, and would utilise/gain the sum-total knowledge from all the XDA-Developers. :-D
Now ... all I need is time. ;-)
we are waiting foк you Tuatara, and hope this great moment will happens soon
may be just add 16mb Paging with 32mb Ramdisk to 1.4 and BT resume fix? i remember that 1.4 way stable and adding 16mb paging speed it up and all. that will be great.
Mobile User Interface for the WM6 Wizard ROM. It's something me and some friends are working on. I don't think it will ever be finished though because we're not clever enough, (LOL, sorry guys)
The idea came up after some ROM Cooking trial, the kitchen release and also Molski.
It's creating a Program like in Windows where one can choose what to include in his or her ROM build and burn it.
Just start with:
*IPL
*Radio
*OS (why not a clean one, none phone related)
*programs and stuff to include
All cabs are available, it's just combining it in a nice UI. This also will decrease the threads on custom builds..
Nice idea....

Wonderfull initiative, there are a lot of tools, but a tool to controll them all would be nice
You should also check:

Dutty has programmed a new release of his kitchen..
Looks like he already has done lot of things you are aiming for.
Now it's only compatible to hermes (because of the use of aChef), but I believe it can be transformed to use for a wizard, maybe you guys can work together?
Also this one could come handy too:
bepe's XIPPORT
To replace XIP modules
Best regards,

Greeings the best team on the web!
I am totally confused after all these number of ROMs for BA, I need anyone Kindly to tell me, what is the best ROM so far to install (Least number of bugs) and from where i can download it (Active link).
Appreciate your help
Ash
If you have a bit of time, xplode/tuaturas R6 sounds like its gonna be the most stable yet, but it isnt out yet. Dont know when it will be out, just when Tuatura gets some time.
In the mean time, I'd say most customisable and most important addins - xplode. Most up to date AKUs and stuff I think is Banzaneiok by the look of his post(cant spell it!), but havent tried it. I would go for xplode if you are just a normal user, and Banzaniodk if you are a crazy power user who needs the most up to date version of everything.
Now I have written this, please help me by copying it to the many more identical posts that will appear over the next few hours! Also, if you want to know whether WM5 is better than WM2003, just go to Wikipedia, find Windows Mobile page, and scroll down until you find WM5. From there you will find that there is a good analysis of the updates.
Ta,
Hardingt0110
Could we sticky this? It would be nice to have a "Which ROMs are recommended" topic that was kept up to date.
I am working on a WIKI topic - http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel_WM5_FAQ.
Please help me update it, or add your own opinions.
I wish I could add a poll of which is the best
hi everybody, that's my first thread here,i'm from italy,my blackstone has a cooked rom "lucapicci nextgen 1.7.2 with wm6.1

premium without manila should suit your needs
thanks man,but i can't find any screenshot....
bye!
Use google ? I think there are more than enough 6.5 screenshots arround
Why don't you just disable Sense then?
i've tried to lookin for with google,i found a lot of pics, but i dont know how is the wm6.5 without interface...
maybe i have to choose a rom and flash the blackstone.....
They all have the basic windows interface you just need to disable the HTC one and enable the windows default, as mentioned above there are a million screenshots online if you use a search engine like google.
from any 6.5 rom...
click start/settings/today
you'll then be presented with the theme selection page, at the bottom are two tabs "appearance" and "items"
click the "items" tab
you'll then see a tickbox list
DESELECT "HTC Sense"
SELECT "Windows Default"
press the tick in the top right hand corner
press the home button.
That's how windows 6.5 looks.
If you want you can also change the themes from the "appearance" tab you were at earlier, most roms come with 3 or 4 6.5 themes as well as the htc and windows default versions.
For a beginners FAQ I suggest you read the wiki which you can find by clicking the link below:

you are wrong.
HTC stuff works under, like oversized keyboard for grannies, very bad contact manager if you really use it, calendar appointment manager (which allows you only to snooze for 5mins), album which leaves goo in every folder it visited, and other not so easily detected stuff.
Disabling these flaws is not possible. Only by removing these brakes from the rom you get normally looking and behaving device.
BTW. there's many good up-to-date national ROMs without htc stuff by local chefs, they're just not WWE
take it easy with Ervius Kitchen give it a try and 2 evenings... you can cook perfect rom according to your choice... better than asking for any made Me did 23089 with only a basic apps I need, some wizards from htc which are not actually so bad (e.g. connection settings which automatically fulfill gprs, the htc keyboard and phone canvas). Man., contacts, etc. removed )
The only very bad thing with Ervius Kitchen by Sparkienl is the dshow driver, which has to be downloaded separately while the original new version is a piece of sh*t... follow the forum and you will see the solution.
If you are interested, I can upload you somewhere my rom... But I recommend you Sparkienl kitchen in this forum and building your own - really the fastest way, much more faster than asking still for improvements anybody.
sure you can upload your ROM somewhere
Or you can share with us the package selections (package.txt or *.erv) you selected.
I'm serious about this.
I have been trying different ROMs lately and got tired of researching and not finding one that completely satisfies my need.
I have a few questions and request for MY CUSTOM ROM.
Please contact me through here so I can explain what I need and want to have in my ROM.
To give you a quick idea:
- WM 6.5
- HTC Sense 2.5
- Landscape
- Multiple carrier HWkeyboard
(Optional cabs, if anyone else wants to try this ROM)
- Extract some features I'd like to have from other cooked ROMs out there. I.E. (ATOMAG, e2, Energy, MIRI, RHODIUM AF and TOUCH-IT).
*** Of course, all credit goes to you !!!
I'm very serious about the $100 donation to who ever like to extract, create cabs and regs and cook this ROM for me.
