Compile kernel - LG Thrill 4G

Has anyone been able to successfully compile a kernel for the Thrill and get it to boot? I have a port that requires an init.rc. change but am unable to get a bootable boot.img. Just wanted to see if anyone else has had any luck with compiling our kernel. If so shoot me a pm so we can get something worked out.

[Q] I need a little help

Finally I have successfully built my own CM ROM and all went OK booted and everything works as on the other CM roms except one problem I can't call anyone my imei is unavailable so is my baseband. I downloaded the properties from github btw. Can someone help me get it working? What files should I compile into my build? Thanks in advance!
Anyone?

Boot.img

Is anyone else having trouble unpacking the stock boot.img? I'm getting an error that there's no android header. And I'm also getting errors about the ramdisk. I had someone else on an irc channel try to unpack it with no success. I'm stumped on this one.
EDIT: o was able to unpack a different boot.img from a different phone just fine.

Can someone who's feeling lucky and running my rom please try my first Thrill kernel? I really just want to make sure it boots and works, but I don't have my Thrill on me atm.
One at a time now. This is untested and I take no responsibility if you have to do the unbrick procedure if something goes wrong.
Flash with CWM.
edit: test kernel removed

pass me the files and tell me what you want to do, if all goes well you do it work in 3 minutes
I am able to compile a new kernel from source and rebuild a new boot.img but I always end on LG logo after flashing it. PM me if you want to change experiences.

USB OTG For JB Kernel

Is there anyone currently testing JB builds that is able to test USB OTG if I were to (try to) enable it in a JB kernel, especially someone on PAC?
I enable this for sense 4.1 devchun
It work for me but wifi and some module don't work after that. Don't have enough skill about kernel so I post in general section if anyone compile maybe wifi work after that.
About aosp kernel. I'm not sure if support otg host. Did you have any source ? I will test

Do you test the JB roms out? If you're running PAC I have a kernel you can try out that should have OTG enabled. I just don't have a cable handy to test it.
I have pac and I have cable. I can test
Send me kernel
Kernel is for holiday ?

Here's the kernel that should have OTG enabled.
It is indeed built against PAC for Holiday. Should have all of Homestyle's latest fixes in it as well.
If you can confirm this works, I'll submit the patch to Homeslice/h8 for inclusion in future PAC/PA/CM10 builds.
no it doesn't work.
i attach 2 screenshot. for sense base kernel that i change(worked) and your kernel (not work)
i test on a hard disk with 3 ntfs partition with an app to mount ntfs partition (paragon ntfs)

Thanks. I can't see your screen shots though... I see there's an attachment but there are no images displaying.

can you see at my post in general.

How exactly did you add it? It will help unless aosp is different
Sent from my HTC Vivid 4G
I think I figured out what I was missing, and am building again. I'll have a new kernel to try out either tonight or tomorrow.
Thanks for testing this for me 10001!

I make a thread in general section 'who can compile kernel for me' if you have knowledge about compiling can you compile it.
When I compile it. Some modules like wifi not works

Please pm me leatest kernel source with all fix for cm10. Maybe I can enable otg host

You also have to build your modules. Look that step up, but it should be something like "make modules" or "make module modulename.ko". That should fix your wifi.
Here's the new kernel to test out if you'd be so kind.
(by the way, just check out Dev Chun's commits on github if you want to see what needs to be done. http://github.com/DevChun)
don't work again.
can i see this kernel source ?
see attachment. otg in sense kernel will work with this files

I have made the same changes to those two files as per Dev Chun's commit notes.
Here are my c files. Maybe I'm missing something that needs to be done besides was was done in the change.zip. If I'm missing anything, let me know. The rest of the kernel source can be found at https://github.com/htc-msm8660/android_kernel_htc_msm8660
i'm working on it. try to add otg to this kernel
i try and try but can't do for this. some guys says aosp kernels don't have usb driver needed for otg.
maybe h8 can do this. he made this for OneX before
Okay, so I found the drivers for OTG. I'm going to patch them into the kernel tonight, along with the code already present to enable it. I will also incorporate the changes required to fix the mass storage issue, or use Homeslice's fix of replacing the entire driver if I can't get it by cherry picking fixes. Hopefully the next post on here from me with be one with a kernel that has both the mass storage fix, and OTG.
what happend ? did you succeed ?

Ubuntu Touch?

Just curious. Is anyone working on a port of Ubuntu Touch for the RAZR i? If the answer is yes then awesome, if not then I'm gonna give it a shot. Would you guys be interested in using it?

I'd be interested in using it.

I was just reading up on it and officially they use cm10 as a base but they say you can also use an aosp ROM as a base. That means I could theoretically use the retail EU ROM for the RAZR i as the base and make porting a lot easier
Sent from my XT890 using Tapatalk 2
I'd be interested if it's installable as a dual-boot (and yes, that's possible; look at the HP Touchpad (which I also have) which now dual-boots Ubuntu Touch and webOS).
Dual booting would totally be possible. Just have to use a boot loader that can handle it. Don't think there exists a custom boot loader for the RAZR i yet though. Although I don't think it would be too difficult to install syslinux for example.
Sent from my XT890 using Tapatalk 2
Maybe we could use moboot like the HP Touchpad? It's open source so in theory we could compile it for the Razr i.

It's definitely possible. And even easier than porting an android rom. You can use any aosp ROM as a base. Ubuntu just needs the kernel the drivers, and the radio. That's it. There are step by step instructions in the Ubuntu wiki on how to "plug in" these files into Ubuntu touch, then you compile, and flash using adb. It's fairly straight forward. Once it's working, I'll work on porting a boot loader that supports multiple partitions. I know that's possible because I'm currently dual booting cm10 and Arch Linux on my evo 3D.
Sent from my XT890 using Tapatalk 2
I'd be interested in trying it out, but I also want to encourage this because it sounds like it would give us a good AOSP base to work off of for other Android ROMs.

[Q] any chance we could use kexec to boot cm?

Well like the title says I was wondering if we might be able to use kexec to boot cm on our devices. If I'm not mistaken that's what is used for the droid 3 to boot cm

This has been discussed many times here and in multiple other device forums. At this point, it has not been implemented into SafeStrap. I am not sure if it is possible or not, nor do I know if hash is working on putting it in. He is aware of it though.
Sent from my SM-N900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
kexec uses a hijacked kernel module to direct to a different kernel placed on the SDcard. Sort of like how SS works, but a bit differently. All SS does is direct the kernel to a different image. Kexec needs a hijacked module to load an insecure kernel. While this sounds easy to implement, trust me it will most likely never happen with the note 3. The problem is that the note 3 doesn't have any modules. And don't ask about inserting them, because the kernel will not run them. They are completely disabled in this kernel. That property is set when the kernel is compiled, so with it being disabled, we cannot enable it, and we cannot hijack the modules, because they are completely disabled.
Thanks for your informative reply. Just thought id ask
