I have a rooted i9000 and flash the gto kernel.
Then it add a 2nd boot screen to my phone.
Baseband version : I9000XXJVT
Kernel version : 2.6.35.7 [email protected]#BETA4.2_4
There are the video of my boot screen
http://youtu.be/2eylQ-ub81o
How can I remove or replace it?
(I find some code in other post : fastboot erase splash2
But I don't know I can use it in which mode or status.)
The second boot screen that appears when you boot your phone is the ROM's boot screen, which is changable (depending on your ROM). The first one shown is your kernel's boot screen.
What ROM are you using?

when I use JVT ROM don't have any problem , still one boot screen.
after flash gto kernel , the second boot screen appears
I don't believe you can change the kernel's bootscreen without recompiling it.
for replace change kernel...if u want a personal image contact your kernel developer
i changed my boot animation by using an app called bootanimation utility
first had to put the new boot animation in my internal sd card

I am wondering if i can flash a custom kernel over my stock 2.2 Rom? So that i can change the boot animation splash screen along with maybe overclock/undervolt. But mostly i want the bootanimation.zip splash screen. Any way i can do this?

You can do that using Odin (not the one click).
I suggest you go check AdamOutler's video on how to flash a kernel from stock 2.2. It is well explained and will work on every kernel that has cwm recovery in them (speedmod, ursa minor, onix.. etc).
Hi,
I'm using deodexed rom from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948790 , and speedmod for JVO from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1044519
In description to speedmod author says that the kernel supports custom boot animations, but rom support is required to make it work.
I'm not sure what the "rom requirement" means. Does anyone know?
Can I just upload bootanimation.zip to /system/media?
At the moment it doesn't work - when I do so, then the boot animation is actually changed, but not to my uploaded animation, but to "fail safe" animation, which is simple "android" text shining.
Do I do something wrong, or do I need some special support from rom (except for my kernel which supports it)?
hi everybody,
I have SGS Baseband Version I9000XXJVT 2.3.5 - Kernel Version 2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVT-CL617736 [email protected] #2. I root my sgs with CF-Root 4.3.
I am trying change boot animation on my phone. But boot animation appears on phone boot and it isnt close itself. Phone is open, but i dont see my home. I dont use anything, only bootanimation appear. For example, i call myself at another phone, my phone is ring but, i dont see anything on screen because bootanimation still loop.
i try on ADB, on SdCard with filemanager. i use /data/local folder, /system/media folder but i dont solve my problem.
I want to use JVT, because too stable for me . please help me. Sorry for my bad English.
i solved my problem guys. My kernel is stock kernel. I dont know this, now i update my kernel with semaphore JVT_1.9.1.bm and now custom bootanimation work fine.

I do not know if cf-root supports custom bootanimation (it should i guess) but anyway i suggest you to use odin and flash a kernel which supports custom bootanimation (i suggest semaphore kernel). I guess that will work!
Plus you will gain more things in comparison to cf-root such as voodoo, bln, speed,oc and more!
Another solution would be to delete the bootanimation (a have a cwm zip for that, guess you can find one too). But flashing a new kernel would be better!
EDIT: glad you solved it!
If you want a lot of nice bootanimations, I would recommend 'Rom Toolbox' by jrummy.
You can just download it on the market
loads of bootanimations...

guys a had some really bad time running into this faulty ICS ROM and den by fault bricking it.
then after searching for hours i found this post by forest1971 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26285877for unbricking GNOTE by repatitioning the internal sdcard after finding faulty bricked blocks.
as i could not reboot into recovery.
so i used one of the PIT files provided in his post and flashed it via PC ODIN to revive my bricked GNOTE.
later i was able to get into recovery.
then i thought of flashing STOCK jelly bean DDLSC 4.1.2 ROM and i was able to flash it easily via PC ODIN.
then i phone rebooted and got stuck on samsung jelly bean BOOT screen.
i waited for hours for it to start(pass that boot screen) but all in vain.
SO now i ma stuck at the BOOT screen so can any1 please help me and tell me what to do now??
first try flash safe kernel, use philz kernel, flash it from recovery(.zip) or pc odin(.tar) reboot recovery, and make full wipe..reboot your phone..
if still stuck on bootloop.
maybe TW Rom is to big for you now, try flash Slim Bean
Just make sure you have safe kernel+cwm first.

first of all thanks for replying that fast..
and second thing is that i am not in a bootloop instead my phones just stuck at the samsung BOOT screen.
somehow if i keep rebooting again and again i get to pass that BOOT screen but then my phone would get stuck at "android is upgrading" screen or it pass that too then it would freeze at those startup wizard configuration mostly at the wifi page.
Also i did try to install paranoid 3.15 and had the same result (stuck at bOOT screen) so i think i mean i think (not much of an expert in this kind of stuff) the size is not a problem.
and also i have flashed this safe PHILZ kernel for DDLSC which i am using now.

reboot in download mode if you can and use pc odin to flash the ASOP ROM like supernexus 2.0 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2076697
this may resolve the issue.
