hi everybody,
I have SGS Baseband Version I9000XXJVT 2.3.5 - Kernel Version 2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVT-CL617736 [email protected] #2. I root my sgs with CF-Root 4.3.
I am trying change boot animation on my phone. But boot animation appears on phone boot and it isnt close itself. Phone is open, but i dont see my home. I dont use anything, only bootanimation appear. For example, i call myself at another phone, my phone is ring but, i dont see anything on screen because bootanimation still loop.
i try on ADB, on SdCard with filemanager. i use /data/local folder, /system/media folder but i dont solve my problem.
I want to use JVT, because too stable for me . please help me. Sorry for my bad English.

I do not know if cf-root supports custom bootanimation (it should i guess) but anyway i suggest you to use odin and flash a kernel which supports custom bootanimation (i suggest semaphore kernel). I guess that will work!
Plus you will gain more things in comparison to cf-root such as voodoo, bln, speed,oc and more!
Another solution would be to delete the bootanimation (a have a cwm zip for that, guess you can find one too). But flashing a new kernel would be better!
EDIT: glad you solved it!
If you want a lot of nice bootanimations, I would recommend 'Rom Toolbox' by jrummy.
You can just download it on the market
loads of bootanimations...

Hello,
I'm a SGS user since few days, and I'm really glad of my choice. Otherwise, I flashed Darky's rom, which I really liked.
But, with time, I was looking for some change and wanted to change my theme for the "black android theme".
Like it's said in the post, I put the zip file in my internal SD card, and restart in recovery with the shortcut thanks to Darky's rom. After that the phone reboot, and is stuck at the first screen displayed by the SGS :
Galaxy S
GT-I9000
SAMSUNG

After that, i just can take out the battery and put it back again. I start the phone normaly, and same problem (stuck first screen). Battery out, boot in download, battery out again and try to boot normaly, still no real boot...
I flashed Darky's rom from the beginning (including flashing JM5 with re-partitionning with Odin) and it works nice again.
But still can't access to CWM.
Should I re-install CWM after installing Darky's ?
Hello all.
*I have conducted searches and couldn't find much on the subjects, or have found irrelevant information.*
I'm relatively new the modding the SGSi9000 and have just as of recently upgraded to the leaked 2.3.3 and installed Darky's ROM v10 RC4 with CWM3.
I have been trying to install themes for my phone by downloading the themes .zip and putting the phone into recovery mode and installing the said .zip, however the phone ALWAYS goes into a bootloop and won't get out of it unless I reinstall Darky's ROM v10 RC4.
- Is there a way I can make a backup of Darky's Rom and just reinstall that using CWM so I don't have to reinstall everything from scratch using ODIN? If this is possible, will it get me out of the bootloop caused by the failed installation of a theme? It's a fairly tedious process.
- If not, is there a way to get out of the bootloop after the failed installation of a theme and revert back to the way just before I tried to install a theme?
I was wondering if I was doing anything wrong (I must be) and if there was an up-to-date guide on how to install themes correctly? The themes I'm talking about are the ones as follows:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000049
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1022956
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1042516
- I was also wondering as how to how I could change the animated Samsung Galaxy S logo and the sound it makes just after boot. I've read that you can't change the writing of the static Samsung Galaxy S so that doesn't bother me. If there was an up-to-date guide on this I'd also be happy.
Fware: 2.3.3
Baseband: i9000XXJVK
Build: Darky's v10.0 RC4.
If you need anymore information then please do ask. Thanks in advance.

I honestly don't think I know anywhere near enough to customise my own ROM... I already have a boot animation from some themes thread that I'd like to use, was just wondering how to get that on there instead of the animated SGS logo.
Also, have you got an answer to my question in relation to the bootloop and making a backup?
Thanks.
If you made a backup from recovery before flashing the theme, then hold the power button down during the bootloop until the phone switches off. As soon as the screen goes dark, hold the three buttons as normal to go into recovery. If you can't turn the power off with the button, then pull the battery, replace it and go into recovery mode as normal.
From recovery, just restore your backup as normal.

Hey,
I rootet my Galaxy Note right now and I hat Display issues but with a newer kernel it was fixed.
Now i wanted to flash Rocket Rom on my device, I have downloadet "ROCKET-v20-LA4-eybee1970.zip" to flash it on my device.
Like I learned I extracted the files on my device in the folder .../external_sd/firmware (there are two folders, one flash image, one modem.bin and one zImage), I thought there where a md5 file or something like that.
CWM cant find the right files.
Can anyone help me... I dont know what to do!
Plz help me!!!

No dont do it, you hav mention method is for stock rom
Dont extract zip.
here you need cwm, reboot in recovery, select flash zip file from sd (int / ext depend on whr u have save zip file)
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
- Do not extract ROM, just put it in your internal SD (11G)
- Boot to CWR (hold home+power+vol up after shutdown your note)
- Chose install zip from sd-card, chose internal sd-card and select your ROM (.zip file)
After flashing do a wipe / Factory reset and Wipe cache if stuck on boot loop after flashing.
Hey, thanks for your help...
I flashed Rocket Rom 21 today and all works fine.
But one problem is again...
on Rocketrom 20 where a lock animation like an old CRT and not it only goes Black without an animation, how I can install that now?? Or can I change a setting to do that?
Greez D4rk3n3mi3
PS: I got it, I could only change a setting, thanks for your help!!!
I forgot about the CRT affect - thanks for reminding me turn it on.

Hello!
I've been having a lot of trouble flashing recovery, rooting and installing custom rom for my Mini 2. After a lot of researching and trying I have successfully rooted and after installed Cyanogenmod 10.1 and now I got the JellyBean 4.2.2. And now I would like to find out whether or not I should upgrade/change the kernel. Can anyone tell me please if there is another kernel for CM10.1 and for my device specifically, and will it make my phone more faster or not. I have tried to install Semaphor (I don't think this is compatible with my device), Devil (Same here) and Franco (Which is same) for all three of them I have got the status 7 error. I have also tried to install some kind of kernel update for my device which completely messed up everything (different colored display, some glitchy stuff and random reboot every 0.5 seconds ), so I had to install the stock rom (because the cm didn't work) and then the cm.10.1 again (now I'm good). Also to let you know my current kernel version is 2.6.38.6-1214151 (that's what says settings -> about phone -> kernel version). If there is nothing better then don't worry, my phone at the moment runs smoothly anyways!!!
Thanks in advance.....
Please...
Anyone???
I had that error on cwm 6.xxx
Then i flashed cwm 5.0.2.8 and there was no error, it worked
Just wipe everything and go to mounts and storage->format /system and after that mount /system
Make sure you have backup of your working rom. If your device wont boot after flashing (if its just booting in recovery, flash stock rom
(get into downlad mode voldown+home+power, hold power button until samsung logo.)
If thats what you have problem with...
No, don't install something that won't work for your phone. Kernel are main controllers in your phone. You change the kernel, you change how your phone works. If you lucky, you get your phone booting, but with glitch everywhere. If you aren't lucky your phone will dead, no matter if you install a custom ROM, or a fresh stock ROM.

I appreciate the reply, so as far as I understand, Kernel is completely separated from the ROM. So if I get any error or problem with the Kernel, it's going to be hard to fix, because re-flashing the ROM will not change anything. If what you said is right then I will not risk it, because my phone has got already CM10.1 installed and is working nice and smoothly, however I got another question. I'm not sure what Kernel version I had previously but when I installed CM I think it changed the Kernel, because the name of it is not the same as I've seen when I had stock ROM (It says 2.6.38.6-1214151 [email protected]#1 Sat Mar 23 11:49:35 EET 2013). I am really happy with what I've got at the moment so I will not change it, because if my phone ends up bricking, or anything else, I can't afford to buy another one for now (sometime later yeah )
Anyways thanks for your help!!
