Anyone know if the Car Home app DG put in the Froyo Cog 5.5 can run Eclair?
I tried putting the .apk in the system folder and it deletes it out on reboot.
I tried installing the .apk, but get a parse error.
Just wondering, cause I really like the look n feel of it (but not happy with the Froyo Beta's due to email issues and lack of support for Bluetooth voice commands).

I saw that one on the market, but didn't think to try it; I did - from your suggestion - and it's pretty cool. Thanks!
No worries, I thought it was pretty good myself.
Added: There is an app called Car Home Samsung Captivate in the market but you can't customize it.

The Car Home (Beta) app is not found in the market.
Please can you post the apk here.
Thanks
Hi Captn, I'm the developer of CarHome Beta. I haven't released it outside of the USA because it does not currently support metric units. I expect to have metric support soon and will release it to the UK at that time.
Thanks
Hi SpinningHead
Thanks for the prompt reply.
I'm quite happy to have a non-metric version - We still deal in miles and farenheit in the UK!
Otherwise I'll wait for it to be available outside the USA.

I own an Evo 4G with Froyo. A friend of mine has a Captivate. I love the Music Player app that comes bundled with it and would love to get it on my phone.
With the 2.2 Captivate beta in the wild, has anyone extracted the MusicPlayer apk so it can be installed on other devices? Just curious.
(Note: I have a fully rooted Evo).
I don't know how well it would work for you. I think its pretty TouchWiz dependent. But you're welcome to try. Here it is.

Thank you!
Hey guys,
Is this possible somehow to use the multimedia station like only just an app? Without any kind of magnetic hacking.
THX in advance

For 2.1 or older. If you have a Droid with 2.2 it seems doesn't work (info from the internet as Milestone is still only at 2.1)

Seems pretty good, but I can't find it on the market...
Can somebody share w/ me this app, cause as I see this is free.
Tons of features in this $15 app including home AND away radio broadcasts of every ML game, a free video Game of the Day, real time GI of each game, video highlights, stats, etc. Worked great the last two seasons on my iPhone and it is available for Android though the only tablet they mention specifically is a 7". Even if the graphics don't scale well, the radio feeds should still work, I guess.
Tech demands as follows:
* Technical requirements for live video on Android: To access live video, the minimum OS is 2.2, supporting Flash with at least an ARMv7 processor. Note that not all 2.2 devices support Flash and users may experience other unexpected device constraints.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
Bonus: Purchase of this app gives you free access for the month of April to MLB.tv -- every game available on video.
Yeah, I'm running TnT Lite 4.2.5, and I bought the app and have the most recent update. It won't allow me to view live video, and I have MLB.tv.
I tried running from Dolphin and it was very choppy video; I could tell it won't work.
Hope someone has a workaround that will let me watch semi-smooth live video. That's one of the reasons I bought a G Tab.
I bought the app for my EVO, but I can't see it in the Android market for my GTab. I'd like to use that over my Evo (for obvious reasons).
I had this problem too. I did the Market fix and it showed up, and I downloaded it. It works on my Droid, but doesn't have Live Video on my G Tablet. Huge dissappointment.
Petey, not the answer I was hoping for but thank you.
Do you have MLB.TV in addition to the MLB.com app or MLB.TV alone?
Rick, I am an MLB.TV subscriber, and I have the MLB AtBat 2011 app installed on both my Droid and G Tablet. On my Droid, when I select a game, it gives me the option of watching video (although it asks me for my MLB.TV login information). The G Tablet only gives me the options of game tracker and audio. I guess when it comes down to it, I can watch games on my PC, or if I absolutely had to, I'd use my phone.
One thing I DID experiment with and have some success with is opening the Stock Browser, going to MLB.com, and opening MLB.TV there. It was really choppy, but I turned the quality all the way down, and the quality is bad, but it's definitely watchable, and it is really smooth. So you don't have to get the MLB At Bat app and can still watch live video if you're an MLB.TV subscriber (which was $124.95 this year). I will warn you, though, if you're a fan of a team in the area you're in, it gives blackout restrictions for whatever reason (kinda counterintuitive if you ask me). I'm a Yankees fan in Texas, so as long as they arne't playing the Astros or Rangers, I get to watch them without restrictions.
I was able to download at bat. I have an MLB.tv subscription(have had one for 4 years now) and I was hoping it would work on my gtab. Is there any word on the future of our device being supported

If there is, I haven't heard about it. Maybe some independent developers are working on hacking the app to run on ANY device, but if that's the case then again, I haven't heard about it. I can call MLB.tv and threaten to cancel my subscription if they don't get it working soon on this device (although that may be difficult considering I'm running a hacked version and whatnot), but I doubt it'll help at all.
I have both MLB.TV and AtBat 2011 and can only get audio and gameday. I am disappointed in that this app is the same price as the iPhone/ipad app that has video.
Per MLB.com
Live Video Supported Devices: Sprint HTC Evo, Verizon HTC Droid Incredible, Verizon Motorola Droid X, Verizon Motorola Droid, Verizon Motorola Droid 2, Verizon Motorola Droid Pro, Verizon HTC Thunderbolt, Samsung Galaxy Tab, HTC Nexus One, T-Mobile Samsung Nexus S, T-Mobile HTC Glacier (myTouch 4G). Minimum OS 2.2 and Installed Flash
If it works on the galaxy....

Not really sure how they determine what kind of machine the user is running. Perhaps there are Galaxy Tab ROMs out there that could confuse the app? Lemme look around and try one out.
I have looked around with little success... I am on TNT 4.4 and tried dolphin browser. the popup doesn't fit right and is choppy... The guy sitting next to me just got an iPad and paid the same amount for the app and is watching baseball laughing at me. Even worse, he is a cubs fan...
If anyone has any suggestions, I am all ears!
bummer
Okay, I have VEGAN-TAB on and I did the market fix, but At Bat 2011 is not showing up still (along with a few others like Wunder Radio). Thankfully I can use it on my iPhone, but I cannot get it on my g-Tab. I guess I did not successfully do the market fix? Any other suggestions?
Weird, I just went in and did the market fix AGAIN for like the 7th time and now everything shows up! AWESOME!
MLB.tv works fine when you use the Opera Mobile browser. You just need to log in first from the game selection page at:
http://www.mlb.com/mediacenter
After you log in at that page, select your game, and watch away. Go white sox.

Which Opera browser are you using? Opera 11?
I had no issues using the stock browser (setting it to Linux Desktop) to watch MLB.TV. It got a little choppy now and then, but all in all, good picture/sound.
I thought this was a good question because, after i got my Droid i saw little to no use for the Ipod touch, i just wanna see how the rest of the community feels on it.
If the battery life wasn't so terrible on my D3 here, my ipod would be almost obsolete, however, the ipod is a fantastic mp3 player, and having a 64gig touch, that's quite a bit more space purely for music than what I can get on my droid. Also, I am subscribed to some podcasts, and I haven't found a good podcast app for android yet, so, my ipod touch will still see a lot of use from me. I also have an old 160gig classic ipod, and nothin is gonna touch the storage on that thing for a while.

I used my iPod Touch with my rooted wifi tether on Droid Eris because the internet seemed faster via wifi than it did on the phone, but I haven't picked it up once since I've had the Droid 3.

Get Doggcatcher. You can download and stream podcasts, it remembers your progress if you have to stop in the middle and come back a few days later, etc. Very full featured.
We have two of them and they both collect dust to be honest my wife and myself dont want to carry a phone an ipod and such.
Google Music makes stand-alone mp3 players obsolete. That's what I use. I have my entire music library on my phone without having the actual files take up space on my phone. Of course, if you have a poor or no signal, it doesn't quite work. But you can cache playlists and songs if you want to have things available offline.
I used to have an ipod touch until I got Google Music on my Inc.

I just sold my ipod touch 32 gb and had no kinda feeling about it, I don't even miss it. Try zumocast its amazing if you have alot of media on your always running desktop.

I use it just for music now. No other use for it.
no, but the one thing Droid is missing is something like iTunes to sync / buy music. I know there are programs out there (I use iSyncr) that work fine, but it would be nice to have something built in.

...and nothing of value was lost.
Can't say I ever had an iTouch, but I do have (far too many) other devices. On the music front, I'm actually transitioning away form using my Droid du Jour as my default music player. More and more I find myself wanting physical, tactile controls. I've tried -- for years -- to find a dedicated Bluetooth AVRCP remote, but the closest I've found is overpriced A2DP pendants with crap battery life and terrible controls. Add the fickle hand of battery life, and I find myself reaching for the finest MP(3/4/5) player China can produce.
