One month ago i bought on ebay a 32 gb Mirco Sd, i put it in my phone which told me to format it: i did it and than it stopped to be shown in both phone or computer.
Ok, i thought i had bought a fake and i started again to use my old 16 gb Micro SD i've had for one year.
This morning i switched on my phone phone and it told me that it had a problem with the Micro SD and i needed to format it; i did it and since than it happend the same happend with the one i thought was a fake (now i'm not so sure).
It stopped to work anywhere!
Do anybody have any ideas to solve this?
clean the contacts on the card and the phone. Make sure your computer's reader can handle that size of sdcard. the computer usually can, but the reader may have a problem. Verify that it is formatted as FAT.
I cleaned the contacts and now my phone sees the micro sd: it only says "empty sd stick or unsupported filesystem", but in the memory settings i can't mount it and if i try to format it nothing happens.
The pc still doesn't see the sd, i've even tried with 2 different readers

Do u remove sd crd often, if u do then pls go to settings-sdcarf and storage and unmount your sd card or it will get corrupted. Its an amdroid problem. The rest part where it doesnt work anymore is wierd.

I remove it sometimes, but not that often, however i can't do that, because so far it still can't be mounted nor formatted and also it can be seen by the computer

I used to have this issue with my old sdcard. If you can get the computer to read it first try this :https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/. If that doesnt work try some software called partition magic and use it to format the card. This might not work for you but i was having the same issue as you and it did for me.

No probs, and the only way i could get the computer to read the sd card was using a card reader, multiple reboots, removing and re-inserting the sd card until it decided it wanted to be read....as you might imagine it took a while, good luck

Ok so i bought this verbatim microSD 16gb class4...at first it worked fine on my xperia x8...but today it just decided to not be located at all...
On my pc the card is working properly with the card reader and i tried another sd on my x8, and it worked too..but the 16gb still wont be located...i tried everything from formating it to reboot etc...i tried the 16gb one on a x10mini but no luck either...
any recommendations?
oh and the shop said that they cant do anything cause this maybe my fault
Please help...
I had the same problem with 8gb class 4.
I did like what you did.
Finally it didn't work, I returnd it back to the store.
What I understood is: class 4 sd cards are not working on our x8.
because I asked the guys here and they were answering that they have a working sd cards on x8 but with classes like 2,8,10 not 4!

any ideas anyone?
[UPDATE]
After many experiments i found out that my card was working with thsd card adapter that SE provided once...the one that is like a usb stick...but with a MicroSD to SD adapter,my card wont be located by my pc...
[UPDATE 2]
The card is working fine on my sony ericsson yari.
also i read through the forum that others are using class 4 and its fine..so i cant see why mine wont work...come on guys..you have fixed far more complicated issues...

If the adapter you refer to is really a mSD to SD adapter then your PC would do the right thing(TM). To read a mSD you need a MicroSD to SDHC (<--!!!!) adapter.
SD, SDHC and SDXC are three totally different standards not really compatible to each other.

Then there you have your confirmation that the card is actually working.
If the X8 and X10 is refusing the card, then you may have hit a incompatibility (EDIT: that's why it is important to either straighten it out with the dealership that you can return the card in case it doesn't work or that you can try the card right there in front of the eyes of the shop dude). The only way would be to swap the card with one of another brand (like Kingston or SanDisk ... I wouldn't buy Verbatim crap).
In theory the X8 should be able to accept mSD's up to 32GB.

True, I used a 8GB Kingston Class 4 mSD with my X8 - worked flawlessly.
thnx for your reply..
my card was working in the begining..so im not sure if this is really an incompatibility...

Question is ...
- If you're running a custom ROM ... you tried another one?
- If you're running Stock ... you tried a custom ROM?
Also ... try putting the card into a _working_ mSD adapter and ERASE the partition that's on it. Then "Safely remove" the card reader / card from your PC and put the EMPTY (unpartitioned) card back into the phone. From there you have two options you can try ...
1. Try to partition and format (FAT32) the card in ClockworkMod recovery and see if it works now.
2. Boot up Android and format the card through Android (I think it's "Memory and Storage" in "Settings")
I tried with both stock and GingerDX...same result...im going to try this and post reply in some minutes..
nothing....i tried to partition with CWM..no luck....
I partitioned it with Partition Wizard..no luck again...
pfff...why it just denies to locate it?i was working just fine :S
I take CWM actually recognized the card even at its correct size.
The last thing you can do now is to look through logcat to see if the log holds any hints about why the card isn't recognized/mounted.
You better do that through adb as it's a medium pain in the rear to do that in the Terminal Emulator on the phone.
If you find something that could be related to the issue at hand post it here; maybe the error message carries something that would give a clue.
Suddenly my SD card stopped being recognized.
Cannot mount it, cannot format it under CWM recovery
I put in my laptop running Win 7 and I can see everything is on it. Still cannot format it even on Win 7. It says it is write protected.
Any ideas ?
Download Panasonic SD Formatter,
format with that.
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using xda premium
Tried with Panansonic card formatter, but same message: Write protected !!
L.E.: Tried with another SD card .... everything is ok
The previous one is always reported as Write-protected no matter what I'm doing (valid while in Win7, 'cause the phone does not see it at all).
Anyway at least I still have my data on it and can read it on my laptop and transfer it on the other card.
If anyone has any idea on how to unblock the SD card will have a big THX from me
are you talking about an SD card or a MircoSD card?
*Some* SD cards come with a "lock" toggle on the card.
If you are using a standard SD card is the toggle in the lock position?

as stated in my first post, it stopped working suddenly, in the middle of the day.
It said "No SD card mounted" ... couldn't format it, nor re-mount it on the phone
I put it in my laptop running Win 7 and I could see all the data inside, can copy it, but cannot delete anything because it says it is write-protected.
Resolution ? changed the card with a new one .....then I just copied part of the data from the old one to new card.
Alright, that's weird, I hope no one else has this problem
I would hate this to happen to me, I bought a faster sdcard

since I already bought a new card, which is working, and the old one still can access it's data, I see no reason to try and format it now.
At least knowing that it is blocked as write protected I'm sure that nothing can delete the data stored on it
I reformatted my SD card that was in my phone a while back but the problem now is that is my phone will not read the SD card. It only shows the internal memory.
Maybe the SD card is damaged? Have you tried it on a different device?

Okay, most likely somehow your format got interrupted so I suggest to try formatting it again. If that doesn't work Mount it to a PC right click the SD cards partition and click properties then scan disk and post error results if there are any.
EDIT: sorry, didn't notice your upper post.
Not formatting through a pc might've been the problem all along, keep us posted.

I put the new card in, and it's not recognised.. It doesn't know I put a card in
I don't have a pc at the moment so I can't try formatting it..
I hope it's not broken and a format should help?
Take the card out turn off phone
Put the card in
Turn phone on
It should pop up then saying 'card detected, format?'
If not go into settings and then storage and format it
That's how I remember if my memory serves me right

Have you tried formatting it manually from within the Storage menu? I've read that this is the solution to most issues with non-detected 64GB cards.
It doesn't even know there's a card installed.. Nothing.

Try the HP format tool for windows if you use a PC. It can handle large FAT partitions. Try both modes, fat and exfat and see if the phone recognises it. Failing that, I'm out of ideas I'm afraid.

I've been trying all day yesterday to root my NC (which was running 1.4.3) to CM 10.2 on an SD. I really messed something up though. I think I accidentally wrote the img file to the wrong disk drive because now my removable disk drives won't recognize ANYTHING. I've tried doing a factory restore with NO luck too....eek!! I'm afraid I really messed up my laptop.
Also, on another note, when I realized one root I was doing was actually putting the root on the OS and not an SD card I tried to start over by doing a factory reset and now my Nook's storage capacity is showing 0%. So, I did an erase/deregister and factory reset again and it's still showing 0%. Please help...I'm literally :crying: thinking not only did I screw up my NC, but also my laptop!!

I'm not sure..honestly I wasn't looking because every other time it automatically set itself to the correct drive that I had my SD card in. But now anytime I try to write something (using win32 at administrator) it tells me I need to format it even after I've already formatted it.??? Is it maybe a problem with my SD card now?? It does the same thing in another laptop too.

I think I just answered your question in the other post. It appears to let me write to it just fine, but then I can't open that drive to add the other zipped files...I thought that meant my drive was messed up, so I tried a different computer and had the same problem, which made me wonder if it's a problem with the sd card...but then I tried another sd card and same thing...so I don't know wth the problem is lol.

Not letting you access it after you wrote the image may be that Windows hasn't assigned a drive letter for it. You should be able to fix that with partition managers or Windows Administrative tools... disk management.
