Hej all,
i'm looking for a Car Mount for my Milestone.
Is there any experience or recommendation?
I am also looking for the same.
Have you got any information?
I just use a generic gps mount for it, they have similar sizes.
You mean just a mount to hold it or anything with a micro usb for charging it?
I would like to charge the MS and to be able to use the Keyboard (if needed)
I found http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Mount-Phone-Holder-Droid/dp/B0036CMP16/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1320646638&sr=8-2
Looks like the original from Motorola..
To be honest, best car mounts in my opinions are Brodit.
Thanks for the Heads up. They look promising. Have to look for a reseller in Germany
if you want a cheap solution look at ebay for
-phone car holder (iphone or similar) - $4
-usb car charger $1
total $5 (~3.9€) delivered from hongkong including shipping and handling.

I need a good car charger for my X7501 Advantage. What do people like?
I found this one at Amazon for $60 but don't know if it's any good or not. Seems kind of expensive too.

Thank you.
I bought a cigarette lighter USB adapter for £1 in a 'pound shop' and use my sync lead - it works fine!
Hi all,
First post! I just ordered my Xperia X1i from eBay. I did months and months of research and am sooooooo excited about my new phone. This is my first PDA phone (I do have a Dell X51v though). It will be replacing my X51v, external GPS, CD player in car, etc. etc.
I realize these are not dealbreakers at the prices they're asking for, but I just want to know if there's any quality/dangerous reasons not to buy these.
Basically, what I'm planning to buy is:
1) Xperia X1 miniusd wall charger (the X1i comes with foreign adapter I think)
2) Car charger
3) MAYBE a dock.
Case -- I am still up in the air about what the "best" overall case is. I can't seem to find one.
LINK #1:

This is the one I'm thinking about getting for the wall-charger + car charger.
LINK #2:
http://tinyurl.com/lvow67
Or I might skip the wall charger and get just the car charger to use my Xperia as my music player in my car.
LINK #3:
http://tinyurl.com/mex9sg
Or I might actually get this for the wall charger + dock, but am unsure of the quality.
Any comments on the quality of either 3 posts OR recommendations for comparably priced objects you know of decent quality are appreciated!
The cradle looks interesting
Because the Xperia uses a mini usb port for charging you can use any generic usb charger, it doesn't have to be Xperia specific.
i.e I use my Kids iPod USB charger in the lounge room, the supplied SE usb wall charger in my bedroom, a USB car charger I already owned in the car and a few of my friends have Nokia Razr's and I use their Nokia mini USB chargers at their place, my laptop USB port at work etc.
I was also lucky that I had 1/2 dozen Usb to mini USB cable lying around when my Xperia arrived.
(When I 1st got the thing, I needed chargers in all those locations too )

Re. your #3, you can see there is a similar one in www.taobao.com

Much cheaper....
I meant VZW...check it out here:
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab-accessories/SCH-I800BKAVZW-product
I would assume that carrier specifics do not matter since they are all the same size, but for some reason the carrier model number is part of the link.
EDIT: Apparently the store is not working properly yet.
another EDIT: Found a way to get around the issues. If you find something on that page that you want to order, simply take this address:
Code:
https://mobile.samsung.com/accessories/addtocart.do?productid=[COLOR="Red"]ENTER PRODUCT CODE HERE[/COLOR]&returnurl=http://www.samsung.com//us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories
and insert the product code of the item you want where I indicated with red text. So for instance for the stylus you would take the product code "ET-S100CBEGSTA" and insert it into the address like so:
Code:
https://mobile.samsung.com/accessories/addtocart.do?productid=[COLOR="red"]ET-S100CBEGSTA[/COLOR]&returnurl=http://www.samsung.com//us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories
You can continue adding products to your cart this way if you want more than one item. BUT, it looks like it might be putting everything on backorder, so be cautious.
Bump, for those that might not have seen the edits.
Also, winter2010 appears to be working as a 10% off coupon code as well.
Let me know if you try putting an order through. Didn't go all the way through myself because of the backorder message I recieved.

A quick update:
The following are available for purchase now:
Car Charger
Travel Charger
Audio/Video Cable
Snap On Leather Case
Silicone Skin
**perhaps other cases, did not check them all**
The following are not yet available for purchase: (on backorder)
HDMI Dock
Keyboard Dock
Vehicle Mount (Car Kit)
i wish that keyboard had a trackpad.
Car Kit - IN STOCK
I had registered a backorder on the Samsung site for the car mount kit...I just received email (and of course placed order) that the kit is IN STOCK
Not super stoked about the price, but if it includes the charging cable and mount I guess $70 isn't the worst.
Use coupon code of "winter2010" to save a few bucks.
Good Luck Shopping fellow Tabbies!!!
I just received the car mount that I ordered from Samsung. I will be posting pictures and a small review shortly! Very nice.

Samsung announced a few accessories when they launched their Galaxy Tab. I finally had the chance to pick up the Vehicle Mount (aka Car Dock) and take it for a spin. Check out my unboxing and initial impressions of this car dock.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gl2Ktb9Skac&feature=player_embedded
Summary:
When I bought the official HTC car dock for my Nexus One I thought to myself, “this is how a car dock should be!”. When I sold it, and started using the Galaxy Tab as my primary device, I new I had to find a car dock with the same precision and quality that the dock for my Nexus One had. I was quite surprised at the exceptional build quality of this car dock. The dock contours to meet the curvature of the Galaxy Tab and it just fits perfectly. The 3.5 mm headphone jack as well as the mic, volume rockers and power buttons are all accessible when docked. The bottom of the dock has the proprietary 30 pin connector that, not only helps secure the device but, allow you to charge it too. Being able to charge the device with the included car charger is a true bonus; one less thing you have to pay for. Once docked, the Tab will automatically go into car mode (not working in the video) and gives you access to quick functions like making a call or doing a quick search. This car dock retails for $69.99 but you can find it as cheap as $45.99 from mobilecityonline.com and its worth every penny. I must say, Samsung really came through with this product and I am excited to try out the rest of the accessories for the Galaxy Tab. Okay enough reading, GO BUY IT NOW! You won’t regret it.
Nice review, thanks! Going to order one ASAP.
I ordered one from the Amazon Marketplace for about 56 w/shipping. Some guy has them listed at full retail on eBay with or best offer. So I typed in a note and a link saying I'd do it for that same price if he could match, only response with no note back was a counter offer for $67... LOL. I guess it's not worth doing business with someone who doesn't even bother to notice what you wrote to them.
I just wish that it was possible to make these in a way that would allow a proper case to be used with the Tab. I have what I think is a very protective case, but because of it, this would not work for me.
Hey, is there enough room with the connector part slid back to insert another connector?
Reason I ask is that this thing would make a nice desktop dock when it wasn't in the car if you could still use the standard USB to 20 pin connector.
I guess you could use that USB to coax cable with the regular AC charger indoors to keep it powered up, but it would be nice to have USB connectivity as well (file transfers, flashing, etc).
Croak: Will have to check but by memory there is not enough room. I will try too look at it when I get back home tognight, the dock is in gf's car.
Really like this car dock by the way !
After looking at it there is def no place to put another connector there

Simple solution, just mount it the opposite direction it supposed to be mounted.

/slaps forehead.
I was wondering if anyone has found a car dock yet that's designed for the Nexus 7.
I am mainly looking for something that I can basically set it into and allow it to be hooked up to my car's power while running an aux cable (my car doesn't have bluetooth) but still have bluetooth included anyways.
I'd like to avoid the generic car mounts with charges and such seeing as I don't want to have to put it into the mount, plug in the power, then plug in the aux cable.

It is 'generic' but is pretty good. I have used Arkon products for years and have yet let me down.

Yeah, unfortunately not what I'm looking for as that's a mount, I want the whole package together, not separately.
Anyone find a car dock yet for this, I've been looking and so far no luck, just more or less generic car mounts still.
You can wait for brodit. No release date.
Best to wait, nothing official out yet.
That's unfortunate that they didn't bother to launch something like this with the release, or close to it as a lot of people probably want to use this as an in-car gps/entertainment (music) system.
Well it's been a few weeks now, anyone find a Car Dock yet (not a generic mount)

Have you checked out RAM Mounts? I can't post a direct link since I don't have 10 posts, but they now have some specific mounts for the N7. I've been using their products for years on my motorcycles and they're top quality products. They have a solution for just about any mounting idea you have.
Just Google RAM Mounts and on their home page, in the center column, third post down, you'll see a link for Google Nexus 7 Mounts.

Yep, again those are just mounts, docks have built into them usb and audio out so you can charge and plug your device into your car.

Both Brodit and Herbert Richter have a long sad history of being up to six months behind the curve when it
comes to making new holders for the the best devices. When you already have a mount system it's annoying.
I hacked another HR holder to fit my HD2 back in Feb 2010.
Still using it with my HD2 now. Don't hold your breath for a dedicated dock.
Still umming and ahing over buying the S3 in black in October or waiting for the the upcoming 1.7Ghz HTC One X+ Plus
I contacted ProClip USA and they are going to make one, but there's no ETA yet.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
One would really think that some of the bigger tablet makers would give large heads up and almost demand that some car docks be available come their product launch time...

Brodit have released passive holder for the Nexus 7 so far, I'm guessing active holder won't be far behind.
Yep, that's what is called a Mount, as all it does is Mount the device.
A Dock as mentioned before has the connections built into it (usb/aux) so you just slide it in and you're all set to go, no connecting additional wires yourself.
ProClipUSA is shipping, ordered mine today
Custom fit (Brodit I imagine) and uses the USB for power (was hoping someone would use the pogo pins one of these days). Ordered mine today - it helps if you've already made the investment in their excellent car mount systems. I've got them in 3 vehicles with their Move Clip system - I love 'em. See ProclipUSA dot com for details, search under device mounts.
I have a universal phone cradle that somehow expands far enough for my Nexus 7... I'm not sure what brand it is, but I bought it at Radio Shack for about $15.
Johnny, that's a mount then NOT a dock.
Also a little steep for what ProClip is asking, you have to buy their mount + 100$ for the dock itself too
Im trying to mess with an old dock for my gs2. Ive took it apart and it has the perfect shape usb input for a custom dock.
What im thinking though would need some fiberglass work though.
A little harder but something like below with a galaxy 7

Yes, it's a mount. I use a USB cigarette adapter which basically turns it into a charging cradle. You really don't need anything fancy or need to spend a bunch of money to get this functionality. Sure, it would be awesome if we could get an official car dock that utilizes the POGO pins...
