I've tried replacing the anim folder in system/framework/framework-res.apk/res putting in custom animation on my MIUI 1.10 but the default animation always shows. Just wanted to know if any of you have succeeded on getting custom animations on our phones....
Common guys!!
Nobody has custom animations yet??!!
Edit:
Problem solved after using metamorph!!!!
I tried to port ICS transition animation.but it was working only in few apps. And most of the apps get force closed.
First decompile apk and replace xml files and then again compile it and sign it then replace it in framework folder.
U need apk manager to do all these stuff.
U can also try UOT KITCHEN.

I am not sure if you are asking for
1) replacing the MiUi animation with another MiUi animation
2) replacing it with any available bootanimations.
For 1 Miui itself has option, browse through menu option from theme, you will find a drop down for changing the boot animation and you can download many from the net - have tried this and works
For 2 - Rom Toolbox Pro is a good option has plenty of boot animations which you can download and install - I have tried this only on stock/rc2/CM7 not on Miui since I found the default to be phenomenal.

Could anyone create a flashable zip-file so I'll get the screen transition animations as on the nexus one for example. I am using Villainrom 5.2. I tried myself, but was unsuccessful.
Have you tried using the Spare Parts app? That has all kinds of transition and other effect options

Only does speeding up or slowing down animations, nothing more.
are you talking about the zoom out style one?search android transitions on Google, you'll have to extract framework-res.apk if I remember right!

I put the right anims in the extracted framework-res.apk, but I don't know how to compile it to apk again, and then I also don't know how to make the whole package a flashable zip. Could anyone help with that?
Can't you just use a program like 7zip to insert the resouces into the apk file and then push it via ADB?
Get the rom.zip put the framework-res file In Its place, resign and flash.I dont think you can just push the file thru adb as it will cause force closes
Thanks for all your help.
I need to extract my roms framework-res.apk and then put in new anims. How do I then make it an .apk again? And how do i sign the zip file?
Thanks.
You of course need android sdk, also java jdk search xda for resign update.zip.sorry I can't link you but am on my phone.ill be home in an hour if you want to upload the files ill do it for you
I've tried looking up how to resign update.zip's and apk's , but it says something about the autosigner won't work on windows 7 ( which is what I have ) . If it's not too much to ask, I would greatly appreciate, if you could make a flashable zip update containing the boot animations from standard 2.1 (fade in and out), that would work for villain 5.2.
Thanks for all your help .
here you go!
I prefer these animations to the slide one.Boot time takes a while 5 mins or so but it will boot! be patient i think its because it has to reconfigure framework.
Flash through custom recovery

Great... Thanks! I have opened a similar thread before - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645210&page=2 but nobody could help...
I tried myself but it couldn't do it. Will be good if someone makes a tutorial or an app! Because as far as I understand this has to be done for every single rom.
EDIT:
Tested and just works great on Villain 5.2! So nice... It's a must...
Now if we just could get the epic rotation animations from Cupcake 1.6...
I pulled the boot animation from the Nexus S dump. I also reversed some of it and made a shutdown animation. On top of that I pulled the ringtones/notifications/alarms and UI sounds. Took it all and zipped it up into a flashable zip. Always backup before flashing anything
The only problem I have found is the shutdown animations doesn't overwrite the entire shutdown folder. So if you have more then 46 .pngs in your existing shutdown folder they only the first 46 will be overwritten. Can someone modify the zip to delete the shutdown folder prior to replacing it. That would fix the problem. Everything else works very well...... I'm newer to zips for if someone can fix the problem this will work great.
EDIT: This has only been tested on Mammon88's new ROM base with custom kernel.....
YOU NEED A KERNEL THAT SUPPORTS CUSTOM BOOT ANIMATIONS.....
You can also use my midNIGHT ROM (This is built in already) located at PPCGEEKS http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/sprint-ep...-7-froyo-dk28-nexus-s-goodies-12-16-10-a.html
Had to upload to rapidshare cause the file was to large to upload here.
http://rapidshare.com/files/437742174/Nexus_S_Combo.zip
UPDATE: Here is the Link to the Ringtones Zip
I have also separated everything so those without a Kernel that allows for custom bootanimations aren't left out
Think this will work with both dk28 and di18? Stupid question, I'm sure but I'm a cautious fool =)
will i lose all my other current existing sounds or does this just add to them?

I included the stock sounds as well. I use it with my midNIGHT ROMS based on Mammon88's new releases with custom kernel.. My ROMS are here if interested.

So I got impatient and decided to try it. The shut down one worked but not the startup. stock rooted di18
Does this include the animation when you turn your screen off??

I pulled the boot animation the other night and all I got was the four colors coming to together to form an "X" but it keep looping over and over until the phone booted up. Is there more to the animation or is that the gist of it?

Same issue, Andromeda DI18 rom.
bootanimation is only supported as *.qmg format unless you have a kernel that supports bootanimation.zip (boot animations as a zip file)...
Maybe you should list compatible ROMS, the following should be compatible but they still need to be confirmed:
Heroic Epic
Mammon's Bonsai4All
[ACS] SyndicateROM (Shuriken)
[ACS]Xtreme Kernel (Lucy)
[ROM]VIPERrom [TRiNiTY] DK28

I can confirm the same results on Epic Experience ROM. The shutdown is pretty cool. Wish I had it for the bootup.
Sorry been busy. You need to use Mammon88's new base......I'll update the OP....

Any chance of a zip of just the notification sounds and ringtones?
Can someone post a mirror to this. Rapidsucks is not letting me dowload and keeps giving me that I can't download anymore from my ip unless I upgrade. Seems like a scam if you ask me.
really want to share with you guys
i searched for a while in desirehd forum, and didn't see a thread about custom transition animation
i guess a lot of us are searching for this =]
this is the original thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849963
but i guess a detail instruction is necessary: (succeded just now)
1. copy "framework-res.apk" (/system/framework/framework-res.apk) to your sdcard
2. open it via 7zip on ur PC
3. Drag the anim folder with the animations (which you can download in the original thread) into /res folder in your framework-res.apk. This will replace the files currently in /res/anim.
4. go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9190418
5. download the attachment - Blank Update.zip.zip
6. Extract "Blank Update.zip.zip" then Open up the update.zip with 7zip
7. Drag your modified framework-res.apk to the "framework" folder in 7zip to overwrite the existing blank framework-res file
8. Close update.zip (agree to any messages about updating the file)
9. Copy update.zip to your sdcard
10. Flash the update.zip via ClockworkMod
havefun ^^
Not working for me...
I'm on an htc sense rom and used UOT kitchen to cook update.zip.
By the way, do you know how to get keyboard display/hide animation on stock rom?
It is far easier just to use MetaMorph and the relevant zip files can be found all over the forum. I will post them if anyone wants them.
Regards.
Anyone knows what files are for Opening and Closing an app? I want to replace only those but don´t know what xmls I have to use!
well, That works for me.
Thanks
Works great for me with Revolution HD.

Make sure you have animations enabled in settings >> display >> animations
Great guide! I've been doing this exact same thing for some weeks now on my Leedroid based DHD
One thing i could never get working was the stock android keyboard animation. The one where the keyboard slides up and down. On Sense roms there is no animation. Anybody here managed to get that animation working with Sense?

Nope, I installed the stock android animation files on Sense ROM (Revolution HD), and I have no keyboard animation, so this must be coded somewhere else...

It worked with my Desire HD.
and I applied this method to add animation + battery icon as well.
Work like a charm.
take a look this post: http://www.galaxyroot.com/mod-how-to-get-back-the-inputkeyboard-animation/
anyone who know where can i find "\res\values\styles.xml" ?
i guess can get back the keyboard animation in this file.
Hey Guys,
I have been running CyanogenMod 7 on my Milestone for a while now, and I love it! But I do think it could do with a little bit more of eye candy. So I was wondering, is there anyway to port the gingerbread window animations to CyanogenMod?
I have tried a few Metamorph tricks, but wasn't successful. I also heard about an app called AnimMod which is supposed to do this, but I cant try it out as I am not allowed to buy paid apps in my country. So, I would be glad if anyone posted a link to a working procedure for changing the window animations.
All windows animations are in the framework-res.apk under the res/anim folder.
You can replace those with the GB animation files and apply again. Please note that you need to replace only those that are there in both the framework files.
[email protected]
Thanks for the answer.
Where can I find the gingerbread animation files? I dont have the gingerbread ROM, so would it be possible to download the files from some place.
Also, I am curious to know, why weren't these animations implemented in the CyanogenMod in the first place. I would have thought most people would appreciate the better animations of Gingerbread.
Edit: I just watched a walkthrough, and it seems that the animations in CyanogenMod are the same as those in Gingerbread. Still, it would be nice to know where I can find some new animation files
Wow I forgot that I put this together.
I named it FlyIn_FlipOut because I combined the Flying animation with the Flip Animation.
I actually spent alot of time on it pinpointing specific things which was a pain in the ass.
Anyway, it's attached.
I hope that somebody thinks that it's neat
I have attached the animation xml files for the following animation effects.
Flip
Fold
Flying
Bounce
Blur
FroyoMOD ( animations found in Luca's FroyoMOD )
All you need to do is to copy it into the folder that i mentioned in the previous post and apply it again.
Thanks Guys.
I need some more info on how to do this thing properly:
1. Where is the framework-res.apk located? I found one in the system/ framework folder but it is named as framerwork-res-mot.apk.
2. How do i change the files? and finally how do i install the apk.
In short, it would be great if you could post the steps to modify CyanogenMod to incorporate the new animations.
@zeppelinrox: Good thing you came across this post then.
Anim mod is an easy way, i use it all the time
note\ require root and busy box installed

Good app. Does what I wanted.

Download the theme updater flashable template zip file from here.
Download and extract the contents of the zip file provided by Zeppe to your desktop.
Your framework-res.apk is in your /system/framework folder. Using 7zip or winzip, open framework-res.apk and replace the animation files in the /res/anim folder.
Copy the framework-res.apk into the /system/framework folder of the theme updater template zip file. Copy the template zip file into openrecovery/updates folder and apply in AOR after wiping dalvik/cache.

AFAIK, you need to switch some xml in framework-res.apk. When you unzip apk, go to /res/anim folder, that's where are the files for animations (or at least it is where they were in GB, don't know about ICS). Use apk-tool for resigning the apk in the end and push the file back to phone.
