Hi,
Since I could not find a Galaxy Tab 7 Plus subforum I figured it shouldn't be a problem to post right here.
I've just bought a Galaxy Tab 7 Plus from amazon and I was wondering if anyone out there knows of a keyboard dock for it. Additionally I was wondering about a nice leather case with a stand for it. I've checked a lot of them on amazon and ebay but since the Plus version is slimmer than the regular 7 version I was not sure if it would fit properly.

I'm having the same issue with trying to find a case. I think they're probably not around yet because the tablet wasn't expected to be released for another 10 days. As far as the keyboard goes, there's a sheet that's bundled up with the warranty guide that has a cool looking keyboard dock from Samsung. I haven't been able to find it on their website though.

It's good to know about the keyboard dock. I have yet to receive my GT7 Plus, so I could not check out all the accessories. Hopefully they should not take long to start hitting ebay.

Totally agree.
Looks like someone started a thread in the Galaxy Tab 10.1 forum. I think they've been able to root it and get rid of some of the bloatware...

Hi all,
To avoid unnecessary clutter on this and the 10.1 forum, rather than simply posting +1, head here and vote for the Galaxy Tab 7 Plus.
The more people you get to vote there, the more likely you will be to get your own forum. Posting +1 in this thread won't get you any recognition so head on over to the linked thread and have your voice heard!!

Good call. Just voted.
I have the original 7" Tab and received the new Plus a couple of days ago. The original 7" Tab keyboard does NOT fit the new Plus, because the Plus is too wide (barely, but just enough to keep it out of position).
I found on the Samsung site that they will be selling the new Plus keyboard dock but it is not yet in stock. Price point will be $79.99.

Wow thanks!
I JUST bought a new NOOK and was about to root and install cyanogen then I saw this post while looking for the repartitioning thread.
This is a good deal, and I'm in for one. Not sure if I should return the Nook now.
Thanks!
I had the WIFI only version this past weekend and returned it when I found out the internals are different and the current roms aren't made for it so I shipped it right back and now 1 day later this shows up

Thanks for the link, very interesting comparisson...
Gah, I want this so much. But I already got the Galaxy Tab 10.1 on pre-order too.
I don't know if that review is still valid. Wasn't there an article recently on EnGadget stating that Samsung said the WiFi only Galaxy Tab does not have as good of hardware as the 3G version of the Tab? Isn't it running the same processor as the Nook Color? Might want to double check those facts and head on over to EnGadget for a quick search.
I guess it doesn't matter...its sold out now. LOL But I also see it was the 3G model. I'll leave the above info lest someone be duped when buying a WiFi only after reading this thread.
I got the 3G AT&T version of the Galaxy Tab for $199 (no contract) + tax from last week. It was refurbed as well but looked like new to me. Flashed Overcome Gingerbread ROM on it and it really flies. As much as I love my NC and like tinkering with it, the galaxy tab is better built and feels more balanced in the hand. Main thing is that the touch response seems very accurate and smooth as compared to the Nook.
The NC was the best choice price/perf wise at release but if you can get your hands on a cheap galaxy tab you wont be disappointed.
I still have a soft corner for the NC so I am going to gift the galaxy tab to my wife who did not really take to the NC primarily because of the softkeys and the touch response.
SOLD OUT !

i would beleive Anandtech over Engadget when it comes to tech reviews and analysis.

damn. good deal. cant believe i missed out on this. I really need a good 7" tablet for the girlfriend. o well.
Im looking to buy a tablet tommorow as I got my bonus from work. thing is im torn between the streak 5 and the tab, i did own a tab a while back but it was slow as hell i thought with it being locked to o2 that might have been the cause plus it could have had bloat on it, ive not really used a streak much the glass on both is making me want to get either one can someone who's maybe owned both please tell me what they think?
If u want a huge smartphone then the streak might be an option, but there are way better 4,3 inch cellphones out there, also the last time i looked in the streaks development forum i wasnt impressed...
If u want a small and versatile tablet with a good cost/benefit ratio than get the tab. It also seems to be the 7' inch tab with most development.
im not really in the market for a smartphone I have a nexus S im happy with that I want a tablet for browsing in the house when a laptop is a bit of a inconvience id prob go with the tab im just unsure as i found it really slow when I had it locked on o2
Hows dell with their software updating? i looked at the streak and it felt abit flimsy in my hands.End of the day the Gtab was AUD$300 so it made the decision alot easier plus the bigger screen is really a plus. Ive just updated to the overcome gingerbread rom on my gtab and it literally flies now.
galaxy tab it is then , I would have loved to have honeycomb but its to exspensive for them
Honeycomb 3.2 sdk has been released... Spacemoose is on the case....
Honeycomb on tab, just wait.....
I used to own a dell streak 5 before I bought my Tab. And whilst I loved the streak(my previous phone was a hero), the tab is so much better.
But......
using as a phone, the tab isnt quite as portable as the streak. Everything else, the tab wins hands down.
So, if you are wanting a phone to also serve as a tablet, the 7"tab is the one to get. If you do buy another tab, do yourself a favour and install the Overcome rom on it after you've used it with stock software. Thats where you will notice the biggest difference.
I cant seem to find anywere in liverpool for the galaxy tab im not paying £400 as I can get a honeycomb for that price
have both. two words. screen resolution.

The last update for asia was august. Pretty much acceptable for an 'old' model. If you sell your tab please inform us;-) . Anyway decision is entirely up to you.
Me when they stop overcome for the tab 7 it's time to get rid od it.

you must be crazy, the gtab is pawning all tegra 2 tablets so hard when it comes to playing hd movies its not even funny anymore, it came to a point where I wish I was able to scream and shout (with vulgarities included) at the dicko from Nvidia who came up with that incredibly stupid processor.
for myself , i bought the galaxy tab 10.1 3g , and i still have my gtab use it as a phone xD
I just bought one after lots of research into 7" tabs. I think it's the best 3G tab on the market still. What other 7" tabs can compare to it?

I don't see what difference development makes, if it fills your needs for a tablet, why sell it? If it doesn't fill your needs for a tablet, why wouldn't you? Mine still fills it's role just fine and it still fits in my pocket...a leading reason why I still have it and my iPad was stolen.
I just bought mine (seven days ago) because still it's one of the best tablets..for me at least..
I needed tablet which will suport ALL video formats and this little guy is doing that perfectly..
Only time whan I will consider replacing it, is when 7.7" comes out.. (but I think that price will be ridiculous, so..) because of SAMOLED and as far as I can see i don't have that retarded Tegra crap..
PS.
Only thing I would like to know is - Can we expect Ice Cream for our P1000?
If the galaxy tab had a keyboard dock like the transformer, I'd keep it for a long time

As I recall from somewhere I read, Samsung / Google guarantee that android device would get at least 2 OS updates
since we didnt get honeycomb, i think even Samsung will give ICS for us 7 tab owner
especially if the other smartphone that starts with froyo with roughly same specs can get ICS maybe, why wouldn't we?

Hi,
Does anyone know of a keyboard dock for the Note? I haven't managed to find one. It doesn't have to be tailor-made for the Note only, but could be a "universal" one which is compatible with the Note.
I could just use Samsung dock with a bluetooth keyboard next to it of course, but would rather something simpler. I will be using it for word processing when travelling. It's not essential that the Note recognises the dock as a dock but preferred of course.
If you're using some other keyboard setup, I would be interested to hear your recommendations.
Thanks!

I've just ordered my Dell Axim bluetooth keyboard for that exact same reason. Its made for Windows Mobile but will work with Android.
There is also a really good but horribly expensive "iGo stowaway keyboard" at us$180 which looks fantastic.
Both these keyboards have a mount to hold the phone/PDA upright. I've looked for months and these are the only ones I've found. But they appear excellent. Mine should arrive from US in a week if you want to know my experiences

I've ordered the iGo "Ultra Slim" stowaway keyboard. As you said, it's pretty expensive new, but I found one on ebay for £40 ($60).
Let's remember to both post back here once they've arrived so we can see who got the best one
My only concern about the iGo is that it was released about 4 years ago so might be a bit dated.

You think that is dated. I've ordered the much older one made for old Dell PDA's maybe 8 years ago! ;-)
Yeah i'm pretty interested to see how they compare. But from pictures i've seen, it looks like yours was developed for Dell in the form of the one I've ordered. So either they will be the same or yours improved.
I'm happy my research has been good for another member of the Commonwealth ;-)

My Stowaway keyboard arrived and it's really good. I'll post a full review in the next couple of days.
PurpleMelbourne, is your Dell one the X30 or XTBT01? You're right that iGo (now called Think Outside) made both of those for them, but they made two variants. They resold them under loads of other device brands as well (Palm, Compaq etc) and also through Targus. And now they've sold the rights of the XTBT01 to a Japanese company called Thanko who still make them.
Complicated eh?! Hopefully you've got the X30, then we can compare.
Hello guys, so which galaxy tab 2 do you think i should get? And also please list the pros and cons between these two tabs

I believe both tabs have similar specs but the Tab 10.1 is better because of it's size. As far as I know both tabs are getting updates and both are good devices. It all a matter of personal choice and I think I'd take the tab 2 because I really liked it when I checked it out in shop and I heard that it's also going to get a Jelly Bean, at least.
It might not help much but here's a link http://www.phonearena.com/phones/co....0,Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-2-10.1/phones/6929,6962
Note- I haven't owned either device but I have used the tab 2 many times in shops when I go to check out devices. :good:
Good luck
And, have you considered the Note 10.1 or the Nexus 10?
also think it is a question of taste.
for me the 7" is mainly for what i call "walking use". The 7" will fit in your hand and you will be able to walk when using. excellent for email and GPS.
The 10" is use when sit at home or office. this is your choice if you are looking into home web browsing.
I hope it helps.
PD: I'd also look into the new Nexus, now you have the options of 7 and 10".

I am using the tab for YouTube, music, web browsing and games so size is an issue for me. I have considered the note 10.1 before but now I already had the note 1 lte so I somehow remove that from ny choice list. For the nexus, im not sure whether it is available in my country or not so i have not considered that. Same goes to the kindle hd.

I have to agree the 7" is more portable due to its small size and how compact it is. But my usage is all on YouTube, games, music, web browsing and all those entertainment and research purposes. I am planning to bring the tablet to school so the 7" is essential for this. I am going to buy the wifi version of this as I am not always 'on a go' so I feel unlimited data usage and 3G is going to be a waste for me.
Again, I am not sure if the nexus and kindle is available in my country. If they are, I may look into it as it is very popular and cheap
