Hello guys , after reviewing galaxy s II i feel like my galaxy S i9000 is soooooo outdated and slow lol , i mean like..seriously i have stock everything except launcher i have launcher pro and iam TOTALLY BORED from my device i want to transform it to the coolest android phone ever , i have a bunch of apps like wifi widget , beautiful weather , battery status and a bunch of fail games
if any one could help me transform my device i would be extremely happy too bad i can't do it wit out experienced people because iam afraid of bricking phone , i wont be able to fix it because i don't have 3 bot-recovery , i never flashed my device or installed any custom ROMS ( btw i don't even know what ROMs are ) lol ! :$

Well first advice is to read read read these forums, lots of information.
Your phone has a quite old version of android so updating that would be a good start. Froyo 2.2.1 is the latest official which should be available in Kies for you. Gingerbread 2.3.3 is expected to be officially released for the SGS within the next 2 weeks. You can also flash custom ROMs and newer ROMs then Kies offers you yourself, but without 3-button recovery thats tricky. Atleast make/buy and test a recovery JIG before going there.
Then maybe slap on a theme of your liking and get some good apps (dont be afraid to pay a few bucks for good apps either)
Being bored of phone usually means youre not doing anything interesting or fun with it a phone in itself is only so exciting

I don't know how much you already know but I advise you to read as much stickies and rom threads as you can. After that you will probably come to the conclusion that you want to install a custom ROM. Do so and your life will change forever
If you need any help, don't hesitate to consult the search function (or ask here^^)

This is the place to start.
After you have read everything there, this would be some steps to follow:
1.Install ADB on your computer
2.Download Odin 1.7
3.Repair your 3-button recovery/download problem with Richtofen's guide (after this you can do whaterver u want with your phone, as long as you stay away from firmwares with bootloaders included)
4.Flash a 2.2.1 or 2.3.3 firmware using Odin (i recommend one of the deodexed firmwares from Ramad's thread)
5.Apply what ever theme you want
Maybe this instruction seem a little hard to understand now but after you've finished reading the wiki from the link i've posted, it will be more clearer.

Being afraid in starting is normal .... but the golden rule is to read and understand several times what procedure u have to follow...and second imp thing is read n follow instructions provided in specific post.
As different rom needs different technique and different procedure.
Another thing is search youtube for videos on how to's.

Here is a link to custom rom MIUI 2.3.3. (I am not telling u to install it on ur device this is just for reference n learning purpose). It has all the instructions and also a video on how to install the rom. I would suggest just read the whole thing and try to understand what is involved in the process.

Once you done with it then find another thread of custom rom and read through it.
And even read the comments on different pages it is very useful and most of the questions are also.answered. Thats how i learned .

after reboot, my device stuck on the lg bootscreen untill i took out the battery.
i tried to use lg mobile update and usb driver to flash the original v10c rom,but i cant get into the download mod and the desktop cant detect the device,the lg mobile update keeps detecting and end detecting.
im in a limbo,really sad, and plz,get some ways to make my OB back to life.

What 'Knzo MOD"? If you have Nova8 then you have the latest kernel. unless you flashed the newly posted, which is for CM7 gingerbread then you have a problem.
im going to test this method this night since im still in school

i didnt realise that knzo mod was the kernel for cm7
after i flash that kernel,i found that it was for cm7,but not nova8 = ="(idiot)

take help of ur parent or some adult person it will be helpful
Try reflsshing the ROM with its default kernel. If you're set on flashing the stock ROM and its still not detecting, make sure you're mounted properly in you're flashing tool.

Of course it's a big problem. the kernel is the heart of operating system. In Android, not every build of kernel are compatible. So before do anything with your phone, especially playing with kernel/ROM, please... please.. READ THE GUIDE or INFORMATION about it...

Of course it still can fixed.. you must have been landing on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275315 do you? Guided there...
Before do that,
First, can you access ClockWorkMod via press+hold Power Button, and press continually Volume-Up, till you got into CWM menu?
If you can do it, then wipe date/cache. (to anticipate zero free space of internal memory)
Second, unbrick your phone.

I have a gsm p1000 and use the overcome 4.0 gingerbread rom by alterbridge86 on xda developers site. It's quite stable, smooth and fast. No problems after a month of use.
Site is down atm but the alternridge forum has mirror sites with the appropriate files.

And please can u tell me that y in SGT we use odin to flash the rom y cant we flash directly from recovery like we do in other andtoid phones. Using odin is too complex for me.

As for theming, use the Kitchen and build a theme to measure.

You can do this for GB stock'ish or just go with full_overcome4.0 rom which is an all in one rom+kernel
Go here and download gbsafe_v5. Zip. It has everything you need including drivers and odin files

Once you downloaded these two files plug in your tab to usb and wait for that phone and pc screen or download mode screen.
Go here and follow steps up to 10.

Your phone is now stock'ish GB with OC'ed kernel including custom clockwork recovery. This version also comes with phone capabilities unlocked so you can use it like a real phone. All you have to do is load tmobile. Modem file. If not then use as wifi only.

Hi,
Loosing the TouchWiz depends on the ROM you choose to flash, most (if not all) custom Rom's don't include it and stay as close as possible to stock/AOSP...

not sure if anybody know what could've caused my P1000 to
reboot whenever i turn off Flight Mode with sim card inserted.
i'm a proud OverCome user since OverCome 3.1.
wiped off my tab after system slowed down cos i wrongly forced
move app to SD.
i install it 100% using the guide with wipe option,
my tab got rebooted whenever phone calls coming in or after phone calls.
flashed with stock rom from samfirmware, tried DXJPC, JPJPC.. all same results.

not sure what problem..

Not a hundred percent sure but I think the device needs the reboot to register the sim.

The deal about modems is the differences in supported bands. You seem to be originally on modem DDJPA (baseband) If you flashed the OC 4 you should still be on it as OC doesn't include modems. Your best guess is to take a look at the modem thread and pick JPZ or JQ2, as I did
BTW, OC 4.1 is out with a more up to date kernel based on GB 2.3.6...

You might want to check the Overcome 4.1.0 thread... they have several packages of 'removed' apps, you may get lucky there.
I did a Firmware OTA last week and since then i feel the LAG on my Galaxy Note...
Symptoms are more Visible while Performing the Scroll in the Contacts...
Scrolling mp3 in the MediaPlayer .. While Opening SMS message it kinda LAG while opening ... I tried Factory reset & stuff like that ... nothing improved the Performance.
What is the Problem ? anyone else is facing this isssue ?...
It so Sucks to see this on a Galaxy Note which has 1.4Ghz dualCore Processor and 1GB RAm. huh...
I really feel like going back to old Firmware that i had when i brought the phone in Jan/2012.
any help suggestions to me ? ... dont feel like using the Galaxy note at all due to this lag ...

Try to factory reset device, it will remove if any system junks.
Note it will wipe off data.

and Second time from "*2767*3855#" ...
One thing i noticed .. If i restart the Mobile and initial 10mins i feel the Scroll on the Contacts , MusicPlayer & Videos lists .. I see Scroll is fast.
After sometime i feel the real Lag ... I see my Colleague has a Galaxy S2 and if Scroll his Contacts / music Player / Videos ... its damn fast ...
I feel like going back to the Firmware i had while i got the Phone...
I dont even know which Firmware version it had ... Damn i shouldnt have updated this Firmware .
Please help ... anyone else is facing the same issue ?

I`am not fond of updates and always try to flash the whole rom. Download the rom for your country/region from here http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3. Install Odin 1.85. Do a data wipe/factory reset in recovery mode and cache wipe. Go in downloadmode and connect to Odin and flash the unzipped rom you downloaded. Usually that is much better.

I don't know guys why you are facing this problem, I have same ROM n i dont have any issue. It is not necessary but i always like to update my ROM with clean installation.
I mean before update i like to hard reset my device, another thing i never update my device with Kies/OTA. b'coz it erases Root.
So here is best way to get update.
First downgrade to older ROM
N7000XXKL3 ------ 2.3.6 2011 December-------- N7000ODDKL1

Read post #2 of above thread regarding Installation guide.
Now if you are interested then You can get Root + CWM (use my guide)
Now after root, you can have Data backup, you can use Titanium backup / Mybackup Pro
Hard reset device.
Now you can update latest ROM (use same tread as above for ROM)
with using CWM/Mobile Odin
You can restore your data, which you have backed up earlier
( You should not restore system part, as it may inject old junk)
Now you will have clean update ROM on your device.

I felt the initial firmware is much better .. hence i used your Step by step Procedure to flash old firmware and here i am .. back to Level 1...
Now I feel my Phone is super Fast ... and I really have to think 100 times from now before i plan to do a Firmware update... I fine with the DEC 2011 Firmware Version.

And what about bricks ?? If the phone can't boot any more ,no lg logo ,no vibration , can't enter download mode (S/W upgrade mode) . And does lg flashtool and smartflasher work with it ??

There are just 20 topic and I read all them ,, No kernels , No guides For brick ,, about the bootloader they were talking about JB update and it takes months ,, did not found anything about overclock by terminal .
Just what I found is init.d scripts enabler . and as I said "I searched but didn't find any kernel" .

There's no kernels atm. The bootloader is locked. If LG unlocks it, there will be kernels. Should be a matter of few weeks.
Nobody managed to fully brick his phone, so no guide for that. Soft-brick is easily recovered with kdz flash.
There's few people here, but they try their best.

But if some one fully bricked his phone ?? Personally I bricked my phone (Optimus 3D) about 60 times just to get the UnOfficial ICS .
And can the kernel be undervolted with terminal emulator ??.

I tried to full-brick mine during an entire day, messing with everything I knew and, nothing...
I got bootloops, corrupted file system, a few other "bricks" but, full brick, no...
The phone was always able to be flashed.

I use this to overclock my phone (CPU 1 GHz) .

I'm using this with the stock kernel .
Every silicon (which the CPU is made from) is different from other , so the user test his CPU to know the exact voltage the CPU can work with ,, So that the battery will be better . My phone (Optimus 3D , 1GHz CPU , DualCore) the stock voltage with 300 MHz was 980mV .. but Now I'm running it with 840mV . And some others can run it with 800mV .

For that I want to know how to solve a full brick . If I buy this phone I will keep testing to get this working , and of course those tests need Bricks .

I think he means the P880 because kholk wanted to unlock the bootloader,for us but bricked it while doing that

I think this is one of the best smartphones You can get for 400$. Its really fast, it has a good desing, a very good screen (resolution and brightness), etc.
Although, currently there is no custom kernels, and the only custom rom is the one by Dexter (the CustoNexus Port). Soon LG will release an update that bring us JB and unlocked bootloader, that should be enough to give some more life to the forum.
Regarding the OC and undervolt, I have read on this forum about an app for OC and underclock, but I dont remember right now the specific thread. I recommend you buy this phone, when it gets the unlocked bootloader you wont be disappointed!

I think he bricked that phone (that was bought through sponsor money?) by trying to unlock the bootloader so us fellow p880 users can get JB instead of ICS cos there's little news from LG on when it gonna be released. Some say 2013 Q1 other say Q4 2013. meh... it a damn good phone anyhow.
so ive rooted it and got near fully functioning backtrack installed but i'm having issues trying to get flash to work properly, even with chromium. just displays blank screen. My only option is html5 beta; and the fact theres no sound cos of using vnc for now :/ despite these two issues mostly all good and hellz speedy.
Anyone out there got compiz fusion running on any android with any version of linux? I've googled, wiki'd, search my phone model, OS and with "" to filter responses.... even watched the XDA noob video just to make sure i had thought of all that i currently can.

Im aware of adw and couple others that give compiz effect for android itself. I guess what im really trying to ask is can tegra 3 handle compiz gpu demands considerings its architecture?

Please spend you money on something else (one X ...), I hate the phone and I bought it 2 days ago, the battery is draning 1 or 2 % per minut when playing games also it gets hot after 4-5 minutes playing EVEN surfing you cant develop NOTHING for it (locked boot loader {LG says they are gonna unlocked it with the next update who knows} )
So if u are willing to play a game of luck have a try buy one and u can be like some 4-5 guys on this forum who disagree with me.
Trust me I am going to service center on Monday and I want a NEW PHONE!

Plz dont tell me that link was two clicks away for ya! I looked... maybe i should.have watched the xda noob video again
Ive got.ccsm installed and can enable 3d cube and the required extras. My main problem is how to actually initiate the cube. The bind keys dint seem to work even when i change ton or two keys using Lg, hackers and touchpal keyboards. Ill read though all the post u linked me then see how things change. Ill try video wat i mean off my bros phone n put on youtube n link u it back tomorrow. Cheers

I bought it (1 day ago) .
And for me ,, I see it better than galaxy S3 . The bootloader will be open in JB ,, about batttery at first it was 3% per minute but after three battery cicles it became about 1% for three minutes .
CPU is exellent with games and the display is too good .
