Hi guys, I myself am a G2 user, but months ago I loaded cm7 onto my friends milestone, while he does enjoy it he mentioned to me he has a lot of random reboots/freezes etc. It has cm 7.0.0 on it, I'm assuming it wasn't very stable then.
What I would like to ask is what rom would you all reccomend for speed and features? Myself I'm a huge cm fan, but don't know much about the milestones limits. If someone could confirm the newer ports of cm7 work better? I see 7.1.0.2 is here.
Looking forward to your guys thoughts and advice on the matter.
Cheers!
Edit. Or if there's another rom you'd recomend!

Try MIUI
I am using Miui 1.10.21, built on Gingerbread 2.3.7
Its a superb ROM, except, it is overclocked to 1Ghz.
I will not recommend overclocking as a safe practice.
Except that its smooth, beautiful & works perfect

haha good one, I have a G2 also and using some times the milestone.
I'm running froyomod 2.9.2. In my humble opinion, its kind of slow... I never really use the milestone with the stock rom, so I cant compare. But if I compare with my G2 with unity rom, the moto is slow @ 800 mhz.
But at least froyomod is ultra stable and has a good battery life.
I'll maybe try this week miui, I'll see.

I am using the original from Miui.
It support ota update.
I copied over all the file in init.d from DannyDroid rom.
Everything run smoothly. Memory ~70mb
I really love MIUI too. Fresh install of MIUI is fast but after some time it becomes a little slower than others roms.
Is MIUI gpu accelerated?

I don't face this kind of problem. Is there a lot of background process running?
Normally, i will kill off the facebook, whatapps and other unrelated process when not using them.
Thnx for the help guys, I flashed the latest cm7 kang for him since he was accustomed to cm7 already, since 7.0.0 it has come leaps and bounds, very snappy and he's getting a full 18 hours of heavy usage. He's happy, I'm happy. Thanks for all the input, tho I don't regularly frequent this device forum its great to know it contains helpful users just like my g2/dz forum. Thanx again guys!

I am sorry if this is in the incorrect place or if this has already been asked, but I could not find it in the search. What is your favorite Eris ROM and why?
I am currently using Sense-able 3.1 and like it except for it missing LWP and Overclock.
thank you for your time and I look forward to the responses. Love this forum and I am happy to be able to finally post something.
I personally really like Tainted Vanilla 1.3.1. Though it has some bugs to work out, I find it to be an excellent rom. But seeing as I am new to the Droid Eris Rom scene I haven't really tried out many except Evil Eris, VanillaDroid and Tainted Vanilla.
I'm using sense-able 3.1 with oc loving it actually. Supposed to be updated soon for a2sd also.

i use Tainted Vanilla 1.3.1 because for the most part it is the fastest one i have used. its plain in a way but its nice because it doesnt have all the other crap that slows stuff down.
EE i didnt give a good chance with but hear good things...
i used sensable3 for some time and i love the way it looks but even overclocked it was slow as sin and couldnt repeat my numbers well.
lightning rom was alright but i didnt like it much.
so basically this is all off first impressions... i would sugest you try them all out and see which one hooks you in.
Did you have the new overclocking patch on senseable? Runs fast and stable on my phone, have it set at 768.

I am running 3.1 right now, and I installed it without going through an update from 3.0. Do I need to flash a patch or do I need to get an app from the market? Sorry for not knowing what I am talking about...
In the development section zanfur has a post titled overclocking patch and update, its a update that can be applied to the Rom following his directions. I actually got mine over 800 before it locked and rebooted just make sure and follow the directions in the post. I'm currently getting 3.2 to 3.5 mflops consistently with it.

Their is a variety of rom choices because each person's taste is different. This is my take after running them.
EE- Very fast and is made by an awesome dev. He worked very hard to make sure that it runs well and for the most part it has run well. OC enabled
Aloysius- Simple Stable and works very well. It has sense and is OC'ed. It is what I use and so far have stuck with it, then again it is my rom
Tainted Vannilla- I tried this last night and it is very fast, but also very plain. Not my taste as I am a fan of HTC sense.
Sensable- Awesome and almost bug free from my experience with it and would recommend it to almost anyone.
Ivan's- Simplest and most bug free rom we have available to us. I ran it for a while, and also used it as a base for my rom until the newest leak arrived. Simply stated it is a great almost stock rom.
This is just from my experience, but my experience also tells me to try them all and see which one hits you the best.

yeah i had the patch... the rom it self was pretty good and i got 2.9 mflops at points but it wasnt consistant... i want to try it again though...
lightning bolt with jit and oc at 768 i am getting 5.1 fairly consistant but it plain and i am having a problem going back to my home screens.
but internet and other functions on the phone blows sensable out of the water.
I am using my own lil creation
Aloysius v6 Maps + latest OC kernel (OC'd @ 806) + removed time from toolbar + circle battery = 3.2-3.3MFLOPS
I have tried every ROM that has come out and Aloysius series seems to be the best. I am staying with v6 since it does everything I need it to and my update files wont work on any other version without giving me problems. I may switch this weekend to something else, just dont know what yet.
until today, i was on evil eris 2.0.1 - very good rom!
as of now...i'm using zenEXP - my new everyday rom!

Was using EE 2.0.1 getting 3.1~ MFLOPS oc'd to 768, but I gave up sense for JIT and im now using tainted vanilla getting 5.2~ MFLOPS oc'd to the same.
Really like the improvement + live Nexus wallpaper that doesn't break.
Switched to Aloysius v11 MAPS. Added the latest oc kernal so I can get to 806 and love it more than v6. Spencer did a great job of porting this ROM. I give all devs credit for making us ROMs but this one seems to be my fav.

I agree! I was running Ivan's until a couple of days ago. Glad I made the switch. EE is much faster.
I've been running Framework43's Senseless 1.0 Pure Vanilla since last night and it's fantastic! I put the JIT update on there and have no problems and getting 3.2-3.5 MFLOPS consistantly and it's not even OCed (yet). Also, in the ROM's thread, there is a link on how to get A2SD to work and it works perfectly. Very fast and stable. It's the initial release and practically bugless already.
galnet miui or cm7 and why?
me also wishing to have answer for that
If you like stock Android, choose CM7 and if you like iOS, you should choose MIUI. I prefer CM7.

Which is faster and better not about the looks
Both are pretty fast.
but which is faster?
You can't compare it like this. MIUI is based on CM7. Just try both and them you can decide which ROM to take. I had MIUI for one day but then I switched back to CM7 cause I don't like iOS-looking. And CM7 is very close to stock Android and I just love it.

If you can't find any differences on speed then it's up to you whether you want the stock android or iOS style.
its a matter of choice.. i would recomend trying both n deciding for yourself..
i personally recomend galnet miui.. using it over a few months...
i tried them both and i definitely goes with galenet miui
it's easy... miui is an improvement of cm7. and when you have a great support
by the dvelopment himself, and this is a man that can release a new verision
every 5h because little something was wrong, there is no doubt.
But I have to say that the support with CM7 isn't bad, it's quite good. atinm helps you in the CM7 Q&A-thread to solve your problems.

If you are having that problem then a factory reset(wipe data and cache) should help. Basically starting the OS from scratch will help it. I had the problem of it getting very hot when surfing for no reason as well. If you haven't, update your baseband. That will help out as well. It's the cellular radio that is heating up like that. A new baseband will help.
CM7 is good, you can decrease the cpu voltage and the highest speed to get lower temperature, use opera 11 instead of the build in browser.
As far as Milestone is concerned, Cronos Ginger is the fastest and the one that run more stuff than the others. Unfortunately, froyo still is way better, Cronos Ginger or not. Gingerbread is not for Milestone, at least until someone find a way of running custom kernels or doing some swap... And this is most likely not going to happen.
Thanks but I don't wanda do a factory reset. If I do it then I will switch to another rom not cm7 again. Can you tell me how to update that radio?

the problem of gb is that it takes too much ram. if we would have an open bootloader it wouldnt be that worse, because we could optimize the memory management.
I find that the CM9 kernel does not give sufficient in call volume or speaker phone volume,a switch to tiamat kernel gives it a significant improvement,my question is does the tiamat kernel degrade the new 5.1 rom in other areas i am not aware of.
Im pretty sure it doesnt. I'm using tiamat and prefer it over the other kernels. Then again kernels is a matter of preference and varies from user to user

Exactly.
Depends on you really and by reading about other peoples experience.
Is there any way to see the differences between them? Like a featurelist or something.
IceColdSandwich 5.1 AOKP has built in CM9 kernel and is much stable for daily use. I am using it since kaijura release it on 1st day and it works like a charm. Only problem with default browser or chrome browser that kaijura already aware of it and working hard on it. I really appreciated his work. So you should definitely try it out and use opera mobile/Mini browser till kaijura get rid of browser problem.
Yes i can see that there are different aspects to each kernal, and i am not complaining about any of them .I am so happy with the developers who work to give us such good roms, thanks for the replies and look forward to what new stuff is always ahead..

I find the tiamat ICS kernel is the best, in my opinion.
Is there a difference in the cm9 and tiamat kernel from a performance point of view ???

Tiamat gives higher quadrant scores bt for 5.1 above cm9 is definitely more stable ie. Less reboots n stuff

Go with tiamat kernel but make sure you download the right one or you will get the evil black screen error lol
if you do not know which one the original post that the developer has states all the info and link to grab it from. I use tiamat kernel and love the improvements it has made.
happy modding.

Well from all the roms I've flashed the fastest ones I've dealt with is the DX OS and CM 7.2 release that just came out. I prefer DX OS but for me MMS was a big problem. I couldn't receive any through the DX messenger and had to use the default messenger to receive them. Besides that I loved it. CM 7.2 just seems a lot more stable and less of a headache if you want something simple and easy to use. Haven't had any problems so far with the OS. But at the same time I've tweaked it a lot more then any other ROM so far.
cm7.2 by far.
if your looking ics wise, i'm not trying to toot my own horn here but the aokp port i added is quite snappy, fun to mess around with. if you try it, see if youtube works! i havnt had anyone verify for me, i know it works for me though.
sense wise, definitely zero hero from matt and dastin
supercharger v6 script goes a long way with our old phones, use compcache and cut out bloat that you know you absolutely wont use
