ROM Manager not completing - Motorola Droid Bionic

Every time I do a ROM Manager backup, it fails with some sort of error that I cannot read because the phone reboots before you can actually read it. There are no log files as far as I can see and I would like to figure out why it won't complete the backup.
Where do I start?

I wouldn't use rom manager to do the backups. Boot into actual CWM and do the backups. I think cause it isn't a true recovery, cause it is bootstrapped might be why.

It used to work...

Personally I would start by booting into Clockwork and do a backup from there. Then the error message can be read (assuming you get one).

Yes. But it NEVER is successful if ROM Manager does it.

That's why a lot of us only use Rom Manger to update Clockwork and to boot into Clockwork.

Had a similar issue. Try checking "use external storage" in settings. Fixed it for me.

Isnt clockwork from that rom manager in the market? It has always striked me as android spyware, so to speak.
You best bet is to flashrec the latest ra-1.xx floating around here somewhere.

Try rebooting your phone.
I think at this point, you shouldnt backup if your running clockworld. Dont you have your original recovery.img from your initial root? Using flashrec, you should be able to flash that right back and get back into nandroid. (you kept your nandroid backups on your sd, RIGHT?!)
Even if clockworlds recovery isnt working, you shod still be rooted.

That happened to me when I was using one of the older versions of RA's recovery(cant remember which one). Anyway I would suggest updating your recovery image to the latest one if you havent already

Funny, all the words in the message APPEAR to be in English.
Do what the message says. Read the result. Then you will know what is wrong with your nandroid backup. There's no need to guess what *might* be wrong.

[ROOT]The FLASHABLE zip file for ROOTing Atrix 2.3.4 HKTW

Hi, after test for some times, i made the flashable root package for 2.3.4 (That the device has flash the leaked HKTW 2.3.4 and unlocked the device)
NOTE:
Unlocked Atrix 4G with HKTW 2.3.4
Please flash the CWM recovery first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138541
You should have a external sd card in your device, because the recovery cann't recognize the internal card
DOWNLOAD:
PLEASE download from the attachment, I'm really sorry that my site was down.
I think all of you know how to flash zip from recovery, so I'll not give hint about this, LOL

You can flash the official sbf file to restore to origin, like the 1.2.6 sbf

Yeah I think alot of people make that mistake. That's why when people ask I always say make sure to grab the "full" sbf not the service!
Thanks for the zip root method! Much appreciated!
Uses this and trying to flash with the newest CW build that is available with no avail.
Keeps being unable to mount SDcard ...
Will have to try the other way to do this for now but thank you for the work.
Worked perfect. Thanks

i HATE when pple leave out basic info, i got school work, i cant remember EVERYTHING EVERYTIME.
Hey, so, I ran into a slight problem.. It doesnt actually root the phone... Or so I've found. What happened to me is it worked perfectly, flashed via new cwm nicely, and I had SU in app drawer. I then decided to try and restore my apps via TB, and it doesnt let me batch anything, see anything, etc. It's like I don't have root. Then I tried getting root explorer and it FC's on opening the app. WTF?

This is because you didn't read my post carefully. You should have a EXTERNAL SDCARD in your device first! Because the recovery cann't mount the internal sdcard.

There is another way to check whether the root of your device work or not.
Run cmd in Windows or terminal in Linux.
execute the following cmd:
Code:
adb shell
su -
After you input the "su -" cmd, you should have a dialog to allow root access in your device. I.e, the root works. Otherwise, it doesn't work.
BTW, does your device unlocked and flash the HKTW android 2.3.4 rom?

TOO bad, the zip file should be flashed as the normal way to flash rom.
GOTO recovery then choose this zip file to flash.
BTW, you should copy the zip file to the external sdcard first!

Have the same issues as yours. Let me know if u find something out. Search for 'sideload' though i think that's the way to go.

I asked my friend about this problem too, and he told me that I should try using an all-in-one toolkit and try to reflash TWRP and a different ROM. But if that doesn't work, then I'll try using the "sideload" feature.
I fixed my problem using this all-in-one toolkit: http://tinyurl.com/kjkmbog
I booted into CWM and I sideloaded a ROM on my computer then i activated sideloader on CWM and waited for the transfer to complete.

No homescreen after root.

1.st off thanks for the extremely helpful guides and taking the time to root this device because the copious amount of OE bloatware is horrible.
2.nd I rooted my 510 and now i have no "home" screen. I can view apps and settings and if i recieve a text i can view it by clicking the notification but if i hit home it goes straight to the google search menu?
I tried a factory reset and nothing.
Thanks in advance.

Are you running a stock rom or something else? It sounds like Sense isn't installed.
well i was on the stock ROM. but now i think i made the problem worse by trying to fix it. now it wont boot passed the HTC screen. SO i guess i need to try to load a factory boot image?

Yeah, if you've got TWRP installed I would flash a stock rom. CM11 is also usable minus the cameras.

How are you getting the zip over to the phone? Use adb push or an external sd card. You might need to wipe (factory reset) in TWRP before you try and install.
Ok it opened the zip and says flashed successful. now its just sitting on the htc boot screen hmm

Sounds like a problem with boot. Do a factory reset in TWRP, flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57174863&postcount=1 and then afterwards flash that ROM.
Download the zip in this post and adb push that file to your TWRP/BACKUPS/ folder and restore like that. I forgot the other ROM I had you flash required a previous backup to have been made.

Regarding http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-510/development/virgin-sprint-htc-desire-510-stock-t2961521 , are you going about it this way?
There's not really a rom that you can flash without already having a backup. If all else fails you can fastboot oem lock and then run the Sprint 510 RUU from http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads
dipspit that last link did it! Thank you so much for your help. Ive learned my lesson about not making backups haha.
