Benchmarksssssssss!!!

Hi guys!
can you post your SGS configuration and tell us how do you score with Quadrant Benchmark?
mine is that:
SGS i9000m
kernel speedmod 13c - rom ZeroGingerMIUI with no OC Lagfix ---> 1800
kernel speedmod 13c - rom ZeroGingerMIUI with 1.2ghz OC Lagfix---> 2100
kernel super optimized - rom ZeroGingerMIUI with 1.2ghz OC Lagfix--->2350
kernel hacked Supercurio for GingerBread - rom Ultibread v1.4 Lagfix(no system) --->2000
yes, i'm a bench_maniac!

Stock I9000 XXJVK --> ~awesome scoreon my user experience benchmark.

Awesome... no words to describe!

Quadrant doesn't reflect real life performance at all. I used to get 2200+ with a lagfix on 2.1 but it was no where close to the real life performance of what I experience now on 2.3.3 JVK with no lagfix where Quadrant score is just 1020 .

quadrant doesn't reflect the actual user performance/experience because in the past i've had high quadrant scores but poor user experience.
but as the versions change (i.e eclair>froyo>gingerbread) i get lower scores but better user performance.

Agree my user experience benchmark is also off the scale .
Quadrant crap as always .
Why dont you post all these benchmark quadrant posts in the same place if you want to compare size.

I personally think this thread should be removed I'm afraid.. For starters, there are a billion other quadrant threads, and nobody has F***king bothered, as mentioned to collate the values into a table. Also, nothing is worse than breeding a culture of people who believe that Quadrant accurately measures the mobile performance for all workloads.

I agree with Ausy that this kind of thread is not of much practical use. I run Quadrant weekly, but only to compare my phone to itself as a diagnostic. If the Q score changes radically, I try to find out why. I also use it to compare ROMs.
However, I don't see that the benchmark scores of two different phones will tell you anything of much value when you compare them.

Yea, it will, but it may be laggy and slow from time to time.

This explains why my SGS is slow as hell on Powersave...which governor would you recommend?

OnDemand, Conservative or SmartassV2 are a good compromise regarding speed and battery. Your battery will discharge a bit faster ofc but your phone will be smoother as well. Use CoolTool for live statistics of the CPU frequency.
Just play around a bit with the settings and use the link I posted above for help. If you want to know anything, feel free to ask me
There are several other settings on kernel side which affect speed and battery life.

Thank you so much!!! I'm gonna be honest and say I am a n00b and I won't really understand the statistics...or change the frequency manually...
Can I run SetCPU with all the kernels or just use the Kernel's governors (like Devil's let you choose a governor).
P.S - Tried the SmartassV2 looks okay to me a bit laggy though...

Yeah, SetCPU can be run with any kernel. You can download the devil kernel app on Google Play to set everything, so SetCPU is redundant.
Statistics are quite obvious - the phone should hit min. frequency as soon as possible on the one hand and it shouldn't lagg on the other hand Lazy governor is good as well.
Btw: You are here to learn something so it's absolutely okay if you ask questions. That "noob-excuse" is kinda lame cuz you read and study the stuff by asking others /reading topics Everyone has to learn to succeed.

[Q] Cyanogen + Iodak + Trickster MOD

Hi guys,
I am not new to using custom ROMs but I would like to understand a bit more about optimizing my beautiful phone to my needs.
I am running the latest stable CM and just today flashed Iodak kernel 0.7
I understand with using Trickster MOD I can do a lot tweaking - but I don't understand most of what I can do there and whether it would actually make things "better" for me.
Here's my request:
Can you tell me how I should set parameters in Trickster and explain at least in short why?
I do not game on my phone, I use it mostly for social interaction and navigation, therefore I suppose I don't need max power, I am rather interested in good battery times while not loosing the smoothness of use.

Your needs is same as mine...What ive done using trickster mod is changed Governor/Scheduler..On SmartDimmer, Disable FSync, Undervolt all frequency...As undervolting values varies with your usage...As mine, i lower down most of the freq above 1000Mhz and below that freq, i undervolt as medium value as i can, to be exact, 25mv each...
As Governor, read up about each governor behavior and find the one that most suited you, same as Scheduler...
I'd prefer Interactive+Sio...Hope this helps

[Q]Best SetUp for my daily use ?

Hello !
I use my M7 for chatting, navigating, phone calls, some apps like "amazon", bus connections etc. No heavy gaming or other projects.
I have even underclocked it to 1100MHz for better battery lifetime.
For me it's important to have a fast, Stable Rom with a great Battery Lifetime. I don't care about its design etc. but it should be Sense.
Maybe the battery lifetime isn't related to the Rom (read a big discussion about that, but didn't finish..). In this case, what Kernel can you recommend ? Any mods or settings ? Any apps or possibilities to get the most stable Rom setup, with good battery life time ?
I don't need fancy designs etc. Just want the phone to be fast, and stable. And of course a good battery lifetime.
Any recommendations or tips ?

well my recommendation will be to try some differents roms and kernel yourself and see whats work the best for your needs.
no ''what is the best roms/kernels" threads are allowed here.

apart from the rom/kernel, I personally use Tasker to set custom power saver profile, you might want to give it a try (this is a paid app)

Got a new N6, Which ROM/Kernel do you recommend ?

my Z3 broke and my insurance gave me 500€ to get a new phone so i got the Nexus 6 32GB Blue for 490 € at my workplace.
Before my Z3 i had many different Phones like the S5, LG G3, NEXUS 5, HTC ONE m7 and more
Well what mostly use me device for is communication, A LOT (LOT LOT³) OF Fn READING (Manga and Reddit Sync) and hearing my music on the way to school/work/whatever .
I am a experienced user with roms and flashing but with this new device i just want to flash something daily driver friendly but feature heavy rom and a good battery conserving kernel
So far ive looked around for some roms available here and already choosen the
CHROMA Rom because it seems to be popular here (Not sure why ?!) (What is "Layers" ?)
and the Vindicator Kernel because it looks very promising (Not sure if its the case tho) and it has a lot of features (for a kernel..)
So what do you guys use and show me some screens of your themes becuase i like the possibilty to use the cm theme engine

What bugs may i encounter ?

"Best" ROM.
There is no such thing as a best ROM. The question itself is ambiguous. "Best" is obviously a subjective term.
What I want from a ROM may well differ from what you want from a ROM, ergo - what is best for me could be worst for you.
If you are asking what the most popular ROMs are, or which ROMs people are using, you can see which threads stay around on the first few pages (and have the most posts) in the Android Development or Original Android Development forums. You can also see what other people are running by reading the What are YOU running on your Nexus 6??? thread.
If you are asking which is the most stable, being a Nexus device - they're all pretty stable.
If you are asking which is best on Battery, ROMs only affect battery if they have a feature that is badly coded. You will likely be able to read about this in the ROM threads. ROMs do not impact battery life. The only impact to battery life are your apps, your settings, how you use the phone and mostly, environmental issues such as Phone Signal.
For tips about improving battery life, please read [Battery Life Help] Troubleshoot battery issues here!
"Best" Kernel
There is no such thing as the "Best" kernel. What we all want from a kernel is different. Again, many people have the misconception that Kernels affect battery life. Let's get this cleared up. Although Kernel devs will build in optimisations and efficiencies that will improve battery life, these are very, VERY tiny...and if 1 kernel has these optimisations, they likely all have.
People will often say "Kernel x is better than kernel y for battery life". This is actually wrong. Kernels respond to user settings. Setting up the governor to favour either battery life or performance is simple enough to do, you just have to do some learning. The reason people think Kernel x is better than y is because developers set their kernels up with their preferred governor settings. This is what we refer to as out-of-the-box settings. The out-of-the-box settings for kernel x may well produce better battery results than the out-of-the-box settings for kernel y, which favour performance. The fact is, you as the user have the ability to tune kernel x or y to perform the same, be that battery or performance - so start learning how to do this yourselves - that way, you can choose the kernel based on the FEATURES you want, and not the fictional performance benefits of one kernel over another.

Do you have a tutorial for kernel settings ? because i didnt have a nexus for a long time now i never messed with kernel settings that much
And what is your opinion on my choosen rom/kernel ? what are you using and why ?

No worries, but recommendations kind of fall under "best" in a way anyway and it is all subjective.
FWIW, I like to use Slim Alpha and ElementalX kernel.
As for tweaks, it all depends what you want. Performance Versus Battery. Easiest thing to tweak is the governor settings. Some governors will allow you to change the Up Threshold. The % of CPU load before it steps up to a higher frequency. Set the up threshold high, it will stay at a lower frequency for longer, of course that impacts performance.

Well i am thinking to go battery but not 100%. but more like 80%
Problem is i dont know what the apps need to work fluid (or not?)
With recommendation i meant something like this
