HTC Vivid to HTC Vivid/Raider/Holiday - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

Can the fourm name be changed to include all the 3 variations
VIVID/RAIDER/HOLIDAY.
Not every one knows VIVID is same as Raider.

I'd say if anything, rename it Holiday
Anyone who would be here should know the Raider and Vivid are the Holiday

Don't they all have different firmware / radios? If that's the case then this should stay the Vivid forum and the Holiday and Raider should have their own forumns (just like their were an Inspire and a Desire forum).
Kernel Version for the Vivid:
2.6.35.13-gc1166ee
[email protected]#1
SMP PREEMPT Tue Oct 4 19:28:38 CST 2011
Baseband Version for the Vivid:
1.11.1020.03_30.77.551061.02L
Can someone confirm the Holiday and Raider have the same radios and firmware? Also please correct me if I wrong.

I am assuming here that the Raider does have different Radios as it is a Canadian Device. The Holiday is just the Code Name that HTC named this device and as far as I know has no bearing on either unless it was Named the Holiday in the foreign market over seas.

Per HTC, Vivid is the Holiday:

Dear Mike,
I understand you would like more information about your device. I know how important it is for you to receive correct information about your device and I will be happy to assist you.
When you go to HTCsense.com, the HTC Vivid (also known as the HTC Holiday) is not listed with the supported devices. Therefore, the device does not support HTCsense.com. I do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

I was here: https://www.htcsense.com/en_US/#account/create to register and did not see the "Vivid" listed in the "select your device" section, so I emailed HTC to ask about registering on HTCSense.com.
What device did you select?

Weren't the inspire & desire actually different devices, though? I had a Hero a while back, and there were a bunch of worldwide variants, but they were all still Hero's, with the exception of the Droid Eris. It actually had a different code name and was a different device, even though it was basically a variant of the Hero. Therefore, the Droid Eris was the only one to have its own forum. Seems to me that at least the Canadian and American version are the same phone, and sounds like the Korean version is also a Holiday, so the same phone, too.

I agree. Back in the old days on these forums it seemed as if all sections were listed by the "code" name and maybe separated within by gsm/cdma

I just registered the device straight from the phone itself and it worked fine.

Can you do anything for AOSP? Who knows

The same message as left on the rootzwiki AOSP thread:
HTC isn't going to be able to help if they don't know the problem (and don't assume that they do).
Everyone interested in helping who can't develop would benefit from contacting HTC on their website's contact form (which I can't link to xD) and let them know our position and why we want AOSP.
It is really easy and quick to do, and you have no reason not to if you want the current hurdles overcome.
Copy pasting and editing my response from over there:
They won't give us the info we need. Honestly no reason to do this. Hate to be a downer especially since I was on my second vivid I only got because of this project and had high hopes we could overcome what HTC did to lock this device down re: radio firmware and security checks(bit of a debate right now over the definition of a security check). Really only recommendation I can give is to not buy HTC (might as well be Motorola) in the future.
Edit: this is akin to fuses or hyuh asking them to detail the wire trick.
It's not so much HTC but google as well. Google source bank doesn't support LTE. I love HTC its just the lte modem that's a pain for development. Mainly why I bought an international non LTE one x. Asop is working great on it.

CAF has LTE support and AOSP is only meant to build for their devices. All LTE devices I have but Holiday have aosp fully functional. The issue are security checks put in by HTC on this device.
Edit: jewel has same checks as well as some other HTC 8960 devices, but they have alsa source so it's moot.

I agree with what you're saying, and things only look worse for the future. Samsung is the next greatest thing, but the Verizon GSIII got locked down (yes, it's been cracked already, but still). It'd be ignorant to think Samsung wouldn't start to lock down on other carriers. Where do we go? LG?

No, it's Sense 3.6. OTA means Over-The-Air which means you can update your phone without wiping. It's not the whole ROM, It's just a bunch of new files. I hope you get that despite my bad explanation

[Q] Will We Get S-OFF?

Hi
I have been away from HTC with my last two phones. Do folks find that HTCDEV unlock provides all that is needed or will devs still be trying to S-Off the One?

S-off will need to be figured out by developers. HTC's unlock only unlocks the bootloader and maintains S-On.

I'll tell you straight forward.
Nope, not from htc
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Not from HTC. Not even the developer edition of this device will have it. You need to rely on devs for that. The HTC one s got S-off 7-8 months after its release. HTC devices are known to have a rather lack luster developer basis.
Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app
The HTC evo 4g lte go s off in a month or so after release. The rest of the one x series took longer since it was more difficult to s off a device without sd support; however, one x did eventually get s off as well as the DNA (a few months after release). with that said, those developers now know how to approach a Qualcomm device without external sd support. So its just a matter of time. Give it about a month or so after the device has released in the major markets.

I just wanted to add that with the hboot 1.12, the first one when htc evo lte came out, we can flash any kernel or rom just being htc dev unlocked only. We did s-off just future prove the device. I am sure there are some people still now on hboot 1.12 who flash roms and kernels, and aren't s-off.
Sent from my lair.
Not really a fact of "it took nine months" or whatever. When the exploit/method was discovered by the geniuses behind it, it was used on nearly all the HTC devices of the time that are similar: One X S4, One S, DNA, etc
Its just a matter of developing the exploit and being able to use it properly in the public. Although I love having S-off on my phone now, I am prepared to wait a bit before unlocking my bootloader/performing s-off
Another thing to note is that according to jcase's tweet a month or so ago the One is CID write protected :/

What does that mean in relation to custom ROM and kernels development?
the s4 have the same processor, soo problably we will get this device s-off, plus its a qualquom processor, its more easy then tegra processor
i looked at the video for s-off for the htc one x, one s, Dna... etc & they require SuperCid, (unless there's other ways that don't need it). I'm assuming Cid being write protected means 'impossible' for superCid on the One?

Nothing unless some devs decide to boycot because of the bootloader unlock not being very unlocky
It will be much harder with s-on to update firmware and stuff though, as well has having to flash boot.img manually with every rom/kernel install (unless there is dumblock)
This would be an absolute pain with kernels packaged as a zimage (there are repackers available for the HOX but still)
As much as I want a One every time I read a review, I am in no rush to upgrade from my S-On One X this time around until this is done, the amount of **** I have to do just to update a ROM that is updated daily is a complete pain.

Actually xhausx has a script to incorporate into updater-script thaf can flash the boot.img automatically for you on ROM install. No need for seperate flash anymore.

Yes blend! Look here
I said never again after the HTC One X debacle and I meant it - but not so much for the inconvenience, for me its the principle.
I shall wait to see how it pans out - but without s-off I'm gonna try the S4 I think. Been loyal to HTC a long time, but they've changed and maybe its time for a change for me.
That said hopefully this will be resolved quickly with the Qualcom chipset.
Thinking the same, but I won't buy an S4.
I will stick with my perfectly capable One X.

I did love my Q1Ultra once. A lot has changed in the arena since then. Does that count?
And maybe if there was more devving on the Asus Padfone2?
Staying on topic though. Very hopeful someone will s-off this qualcom device so we can all play nicely again on a flag ship HTC.

What is the difference between the att and this device?

I have the rogers HTC one. Which forum do I use?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
x2 I also have a Rogers version and I don't know which forum to use. I know with previous phones from Rogers, I would use the at&t forum of the same device, but with the HTC One, it seems like some people are using this forum to flash roms
So I'm confused
There was a chart somewhere that broke down which were the same device. I remember on that list the T-Mobile(US), International, AT&T, and Dev were the same model just different firmwares. The rest I don't remember. I saw it in these forums somewhere.
In terms of what forum you should use, it shouldn't matter on GSM devices, from my understanding. The firmware is cross-compatible even though the radios support different bands.
But don't take my word for it!!! Someone smarter than me will hopefully confirm.

I think you are talking about HTC One variants [U/UL/WL] which shows the differences among the M7 variants.
I believe the Rogers and ATT versions are extremely similar. I have the ATT version and have been flashing the International roms without issue.

This Software Enhancement provides the following enhancements / improvements for the HTC Desire 510:
Sprint Application updates:
Sprint Zone

Visual Voicemail
Lumen Toolbar – (Lollipop MU following in 2015 This will be removed)
This update will also provide a fix to address the following post launch issue:
Some users may see a persistent notification message referring to a SMITH tool expiration – logging tool for HTC. This notification has zero impact on the usability of the device, but the message is confusing to the customer. This message will no longer be displayed with this MR

Lollipop on desire 510
Not sure if this belongs here, but I accidentally posted it here so I apologize to the mod who has to move it.
I've found a couple links online with steps for installing lollipop on the desire 510. They reference the XDA forums but I cannot find any such thread. Can anyone tell me if this is true/works? I'm eager to get lollipop and don't want to wait for HTC to release if I don't have to, lol.

There was a leaked schedule saying which and when HTC phones will receive the lollipop update (or at least sense 7). It said the 510 will get it sometime around April. If not, most likely May or June.

It's a scam. You look at it and the 3 links all require you to sign up for a bogus product and by the look off it they charge you a lot for nothing.
If the devs here haven't succeeded yet why would we even think this crowd have done it 6 months ago
Yeah wouldn't trust that page myself. For starters they claim it's a lollipop ROM for the desire 510 but it doesn't exist according to htc's update page, second they claim they had re written a guide from here on xda, I don't recall ever seeing a guide about upgrading this device to lollipop anywhere, third they show screen shots of an aosp styled lollipop but this is an htc device which would have (most likely) sense 7 so either the screen shots are of a generic lollipop or just wrong, fourth the ROM size, multiple parts totaling nearly a gigabyte in size. Assuming the screen shots are correct there is no reason why the ROM should be that large.
Now as far as lollipop for our device and it's availability I did find a website which (among other info) states the following:
The Rest Of HTC's Stable...
“The Android Lollipop update looks as if it will spread throughout 2015,” reports Phone Probe, “with the higher-end devices receiving the update in the first half of the year. Of those expected to get the Lollipop treatment in Q1 of 2015 are the HTC One M8 and the HTC One M7. As expected, they get the update first.”
Q2 of 2015: One E8, Desire EYE, One M8 EYE, Butterfly 2.
Q3 of 2015: One Max, M7 Dual SIM, Desire 816, Desire 820u, One M8 Mini, One E8 China, One M8 EYE China.
Q4 of 2015: Desire 510, 610, 820s, and One Mini.

This phone has seen Lollipop thanks to @r3pwn.. You just don't know how to install it.
HTC has already said that the Desire 510 won't be getting Lollipop.
HTC has already said that the desire won't be getting Lollipop:

(I'm sorry I can't post an outside link yet.)
So our only hope, as far as I've seen, so far is CM12 which is being worked on by r3pwn and rbheromax. Personally I'm watching with baited breath and occasionally testing what they have already released.
