Greetings-
I've searched, scanned, and read, but still as a n00b, I'm not sure of what my best options are. I'm on Cog 2.3b6 and like it, but I've also read that Bacon (based on Cog) pretty much rocks- but wired headsets don't work, which is a showstopper for me. I'm considering Perception 4 (largely due to ewingr's post yesterday), but I'm not finding much info about it (is it referred to as a different name?).
I'm also noticing that the battery charges slowly if I actively use the phone; most devices typically run off of the charger while plugged in, leaving the battery to simply charge. I'm not sure if what I'm seeing a device issue or a ROM issue.
So, I'm asking those that know for their input... stay on Cog 2.3b6, or try a different ROM to get the best experience? TIA
Wired headsets don't work in 4 either. But Bluetooth do.

Thanks pinball... but I kinda need the wired headset.
Why are you asking a question in the development section when there is a section called Q&A...?

The wired headset works in my Perception v5 Rom so apparently not all installs or phones are the same.

Because I simply forgot about that section... the mind gets foggy trying to assimilate all of this stuff when you're new. Didn't mean to add to the noise.

Really!!! Does it work for call as well or you are only talking about listening music? I guess the Guy meant wired headset for calls?

At this point I'd wait. Based upon various comments it seems there will be a new Perception very soon.

Hmm... maybe I made too many assumptions about the wired headset problem. I have a pair of SkullCandy earbuds w/a mic and vol/mute controls that I need to use for calls... maybe I need to just try flashing Bacon and see what happens....

There's no way you actually mean this for phone calls

ive tried them all and the best is definitely aospMOD. It's fast right out of the gate, doesnt require overclock or lagfixes....but if you do its even quicker.

Wired headset works with Captivate kernels, but doesn't with Vibrant ones. It's a known issue. If you want a wired headset, don't flash a ROM with the Vibrant kernel. Read the description first.
Doesn't work with I9000 kernels, not vibrant.

It's the kernel that causes the problem. If you want to use the wired headsets for calls you cannot use SetiroN's kernel. Doesn't matter what kind of ROM it is.

I was getting 5mbps down and 1.70 up on KA6. 2-3 mbps down and .50-1.00 up. So I think I'm sticking with KA6

I do notice some difference indoors with respect to 3g speed and a cold start lock with the GPS, works a bit better than KA6.
Anyone else flash this, I didn't like, KA6 I was having bad data drops.

There was often a request for Trinity with UV instead of OC, no OC at all, well, here it is. 1100MHz of undervolted almost stock battery saving goodness.
This 2.3.4 Kernel is for CM7, modaco and stock roms will be updated later
BLN (Backlight notification) (Big Thanks Neldar! buy his app for blinking notification)
Based on 2.3.4 Gingerbread source.
Upgraded 2.6.35.13 base
At almost stock 1.1GHz with decent amount of UV
Trinity bootanimation by @rascarlo
TUN (Tunneling/VPN support)
CIFS (Samba support)
EXT4 mount fix (CM now picked this up for /data already)
Voodoo Sound v8 (cm7) (Thanks supercurio)
Voodoo Color (Thanks supercurio)
Flash issues fixed
USB fixed
A little note on blinking with BLN, it will use more power, static lights as notification you wouldn't have to worry about if you are worried about your battery, your 100 extra apps use way more than BLN.
Thread will be closed, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036996 is going to be the main one.
maybe I'll need this later

Lame question here - does this kernel provides the benefits of a good Voodoo kernel with an excellent battery life? That's why the UV?

That is exactly what this is for.
Everyone wants voodoo color and sound, but not all want to OC.
People requested a zero OC full UV version, with all the patches they want, this is it.

Any chance you could explain the standard voltages and the undervolted ones? Just a link to somewhere with the different voltages would be great. Just interested.

the op is newer. the number 8 i posted is the same but has slightly more voltage. its better for phones experiencing instability with the kernel posted in the op. just like being overclocked, not all phones will be stable stable with all amounts of undervolting.
Hi there,
in my JVR ROM i have a problem with wifi signal, it's very low. How come? Any ideas?
Try a different kernel as the drivers for wifi are contained in the kernel

Did you ever have this problem before using this rom?

If i'm near the router wifi get all signal, if i'm less near it get so much worse.
My apologies, I got mixed up with another post on gps fix! My bad! Sometimes a wall is lined with metal mesh for plaster to stick to, this may block the signal, and also the metal foil on insulation panels can do the same, but my guess is a weak router signal

Have you tried using wifi at a friends or maybe a public place ?
Might just be your walls that are the problem.
Try sitting next to wifi box for sometime. And see if you. Are. Getting. Signal. Or not if you are getting signal then it is a problem with the wall as I face this all the time!

But must say it lacks usb video out custom lock screens and tones. But it is more stable.

I did commend you on your rom and your rom does have the extras under the settings. All this I stated in your rom thread. I also know you saidyou would resolve battery issues for your next release.
