How to utilize internal memory after CM7 root - Nook Color General

I have seen a couple of threads asking this question but not answered.
Is there a way to utilize the internal memory after using the CM7 mSD card method?
It would be great to utilize the 7 or so GB in additional to whatever size the mSD card is as opposed to buying a $50-60 32GB mSD card.
thx in advance

As for running CM7, the max you can get out of the internal space usage is 5+ GB, can't get 7 or 8 GB.

Is that if I rooted using the internal memory?
If so I wanted to know if at all can I use the internal memory after rooting using the mSD card method.

If your NC is an old version, prior to 1.2, then you should have 5GB ready for use.
If it's v1.2 and later, only 1GB set by default but you can get 5GB if you don't mind re-partition.

[Q] Internal SD ONLY 2GB instead of 8GB

When looking in "SD and phone memory" the total space is only 1,55 GB on the internal SD card. I thought it should be close to 8GB. Where is the other 6GB?

Are you sure your not looking at available space as apposed to internal sd card which is above it?

It happened to me too. Your SD card is likely busted.

Total memory = 1,55GB
Available memory is 1,54GB
Possible to format?, re-partition? or am I just screwed?
Did you use a lag fix at any time?

The internal 8gb is divided to "phone" and "internal SD" , your missing 6gb is the internal SD and the 1.5GB is the phone part.
1.84gb is reserved for apps, 127MB for personal info normally, ... 5.78GB for extra internal sd card junk(photo's) ..
1.36 for apps here, cos of the lagfix i performed =/
But no idea from where you read the memory information, which app?
And 8GB gives truly less then 7.8GB available, damn bit byte tricks, ..
I also have the same problem. My 8gb internal sdcard become 1.8gb after I rooted and flashing and made my Samsung P1000 tablet into Kitkat 4.4.2. Until now i don't know how to fix it. Maybe somebody here knows how to fix, or can give us the link for the apps for it.

[Q] Upgrading SD Card, what should I know?

I'm planning on moving from a 2gb card to an 8gb card. I'm rooted, CM7 RC4 on emmc with Clockwork 3.0.1. Are there any root/system files that are typically stored on it that won't be tranferred easily by copy/paste onto the new card?
Not that I'm aware of. I haven't had any problems like that with the stock ROM or Nookie Froyo. Android OS will write those files directly, so unless CM made significant changes to the way Android writes system files, unlikely you'll see any issues. Cheers!
a few people report problems with class 10 sd cards. I have a class6 and class10. I've had a problem with one froyo build that i couldn't install on the card using my normal techniques. I was able to get it to run by setting it up on a class 6 and moving it to a class 10 later. my class6 is an 8gb and class10 is 16gb, so the size might have been part of the problem as the 16gb cards aren't as easy to setup using verygreens cm7 sd card prop instructions.
i'd say if you are concerned, get a 8gb class6, unless you are comfortable with resizing partitions and willing to monkey around a bit if you run into issues on a class 10 card.

I think you're referring to CM7 being stored on the internal, correct? if that's the case, you would be just transferring the user data stuff (and app data that is created from apps)you shouldn't have any problems transferring data from one to the other. I've done it a few times both with my nook and my droid.

New internal SD, not as fast as I thought

So I bought a Patriot Class 10 4GB microsd and replaced my the internal sd in my Streak and it all restarted fine and I tried quadrant but I got around the same score as I did with the old one, 1600ish at 1ghz. What is everyone else getting on 1.9 without perfmod and either with stock internal sd or non stock.
My results were
1586
CPU: 5150
Memory: 1154
I/O: 937 (Important one I want to compare)
2D: 301
3D: 388
Cheers
Well I have never run StreakDroid without the perfmod long enough to write all that down, but with the perfmod and SetCPU set at 1190 these are my scores:
Total 2128
CPU 5357
Memory 1119
I/O 3483
2D 307
3D 375
Do you feel a difference by replacing the internal sd?

Just in case: I did the sd mod with the 8GB Patriot class10 microSD and it works fine too. No need to modify any file, system will be prepared and installed on it on first boot and you get 6.someting Megs left for programs after boot. Never tested for quadrant scores but I guess they must be about the same as yours.
give "SD Booster" a try, otherwise the access speeds are set inside the unit. being an C10, you can get away with 8192, even if the app says it's too much.
you can use "SD Tools" to gain a better insight into how much of an improvement the new SD card settings will give.
both are free.

you can only do that with a 4Gb card, anymore than that and you have to do some partitioning to the card so the rest of the space will be available, some reading and research would have told you that

That is incorrect. I replaced my internal SD Card with an 8 GB card and the phone formatted it fine. The extra steps and system files mods are only needed if you want to use the space as user space and not as system space. Some reading and research would have told you that.

[Q] app2ext on froyo!!!

I used to use i&f 4 rom, but I switched over to thefroyomod 2.9.3 BUT my 80+ apps werent detected so I went back, made list, and started painstakingly installing all apps BUT I ran outta space on my internal memory, even though I still have 160+ mb on my ext partition(verified using free space by krikun)
Please help
Before you ask, I have a 4gb class 2 card with 500mb ext partition
I am going to switch to my incredibly cheap 8gb class4 card with 1gb ext partition but dont want to know that I wont be able to install more than 70 apps

Sd-ext worth it?

I just got a new sandisk ultra 16GB class 10 sd card. Is it actually worth partitioning my SD card for swap and increasing internal storage. I hear that the SD card gets corrupted after about 6 months of use after partitioning.
Thanks

Noway it doesn't affect the sd card...maybe swap does coz the card is always getting accessed...and moreover even swap will reduce life only to an extent that you won't even realise it in your period of use...and mostly all memory cards these days have a full 5year warranty...I have the same card..I've used partition wizard tool and created a 512mb ext4 partition and a 128mb Linux swap....and am using psn swapall cm7 kernel with vo1s rom amazingly smooth!!

Totally worth it

Absolutely. I use link2sd. Wouldn't cope without it.

which method its better, i have a class 10 sd, as for me i dont find difference between psn mod, cronmod and links2sd?
I'm currently using psn swapp all v3, since swap its on internals i think its faster but all other methods work just fine.
Totally worth it!!!!
EXT partition is recommended however SWAP is a bit optional thing, its a much more strain on the card's life.
I use cronmod, its gui free, i like it, does everything by itself in the background, no hassles with setting up link2sd or app2sd.
Yeah absolutely worth it. I wouldnt be able to live without it now.
The ability to install loads of apps is amazing.
You will face an issue with corruption only if the card was of bad quality to begin with.
