Connected Music Player (CMP) from XT860 for Droid 3? - Motorola Droid 3

Is anyone able to port the Connected Music Player from the XT860 to the Droid 3?
It would be nice because it has an other widget, Lyrics and FMRadio built in.
Tell me what you think.

An old version already works (its from the Defy). But the acutal XT860 Version would be great.

Did anyone even try just copying the xt860 apk to xt862?

I guess no. But if someone pulls those files and post them here I'll give it a try of course.
BTW: You're from the Netherlands? Is there a shop there that imports some XT860s?

I'm not quite sure how all of this works but I went through the dump I made earlier this year of my /system and found anything related to FMRadio and CMP (connected music player) and made a RAR of it.

Thanks!
But it seems Motorola packed the pretty old CMP on the XT860. The widget still looks old and ugly. I guess I'll stay with the seperate FM and music app.

what device is the new one on?

I'm still learning android, how did you install a system APK?

Stock music player...

So, using the CM6 RC1, it is not using the same music player that came with the phone, therefore the stock headphones' inline control buttons no longer work. Anyone know how I can install the stock music player?
I've always wondered why there were never any vanilla roms with the stock music player that comes on all the sense phones, considering that the mytouch with the 3.5mm jack has the same stock music player that comes with the slide. I would use CM6 if it had the stock music player from the slide.

Well I kinda messed that one up. Tried pushing the HtcMusic.apk/odex files from the CR OTA ROM, rebooted, and didn't find it, so I launched the apk from Linda File manager. The phone rebooted, and now all my apps on SD have double icons... ugh
Not sure if it will work because it says its for 2.1 but maybe worth a try.

There's a HTC music for 2.1 in the G1 section, give that a try. Pushing the one from cr will do you no good,it was not for froyo.

Well, it installed no problem, and launches no problem. Will have to wait until I get home to see if the headphone controls work. Thanks
Bah, it will play music, but gets FC's on various functions, primarily when trying to view the playlist.

Honeycomb Music player available

Droid Life has posted the .apk for the upcoming Honeycomb (Android 3.0) Music player. I have tested it on the G-Tablet (running TNT Lite 3.12) and on my Droid 2 and it works great. Please keep in mind that not all features are working yet...it is still a work in progress.

Yeah, I had problems downloading from my Droid 2 as well... I had to connect to the PC as Mass Storage and download it that way instead.

I bet the streamed music has to do with Googles purchase of simplified media. I used it back in my iPhone days and it allowed me to stream my whole iTunes library to other computes or my phone.
Thanks for sharing.
Have you guys looked at Audiogalaxy? There was a post today about it. You download a free app from the market, setup a little tiny program on your pc. Tell the pc program where your music is and stream away. I am using it and it works great... I just used my Facebook login with it and it worked..

With this audiogalaxy is it possible to have music on my droid and send it to the gtab? and like remote control the music PLAYING on the gtab from the droid? cant seem to get any program to work the way i need/want it to. tried twonky but it wont recognize the gtab as a player when using the droid app on the droid. main goal is to be able to pretty much control music on the gtab while its plugged into speakers from across the room or anywhere in the house.

Honeycomb Music App

Apparently some enterprising individuals have pulled the Honeycomb music app from the Xoom and made it into an apk. I had just finished applying a Skinomi screen protector when I saw the post so I won't be able to try it out until I get off work tomorrow. I was wondering if anyone had already tried and if so how it works, seeing as the app was designed for a tablet.
Works for me...
Running gadam v 1.1.1
Nice!
I have to say I prefer Rockon though.
Working on Calkulin's Gtab Rom beta1
so, does this support streaming already? can I play music from a mounted share? I've found not all music players allow me to choose where to pull the music from...

From what I can see......it "pushes" the music on your device to the cloud so that if you remove the music from the device you can stream it from the cloud.
So the music needs to be on the tablet first and then sync it to the cloud. From then on it can be available to the device even if removed from the device.
Yep, I saw another thread about the cloud syncing ability which is where I first found the apk. tcrews is right, it seems you need to have the music on your G Tab first, let it sync to the Google cloud and then you can delete it from your internal memory/SD card and stream it anywhere you have wifi.
EDIT: Here is the post about syncing. I'm not sure if the cloud sync requires 2.3.3 or if it would be able to sync on a Froyo build.
I honestly dont think this is working at all right now unless you have a rom running 2.3.3 that seems to be the rumor even though all signs point to it being able to work with the sync buttons and such however im running the new music on my droid 1 running UD and having the music set to stream and my gtab isnt picking it up at all so theres gotta be some type of issue here.
Guess ill have to wait for the real google music to launch officially.
Its not running on vegan 5.1.1

+1 for Calkulin's Beta ROM.

The actual streaming part of google music is working? or just the program itself.
I'm running Calkulin's Gtab Rom beta1, and this isn't working at all. I can see music in the app, but nothing plays and it doesn't sync. Am I missing something?
It works!
It works on the stock ROM too.
Pretty sweet!
I haven't had a chance to try the streaming yet. I'm running the 3/8/11 version of Vegan Ginger and saw under the account sync settings where you can select to sync gmail, books, contacts, ect... there is now a check box for syncing music.
May make the streaming on this player workable.

[Q] Uses for a disconnected Hero?

I just upgraded to the Epic 4G
Running SyndicatedROM Frozen 1.1 and it does everything
Now, what to do with my old phone...
Needless to say, my old phone is the HTC Hero CDMA, and it is no longer connected. Really sad since it's a perfectly good phone. I've been having trouble re-gifting to my friends because they are too cheap for Sprint, and they don't like the concept of texting on a (small) touch-screen phone.
I have been using it as my primary music player to off-load the battery drain on my Epic. However, it bugs me to use it *just* as a music player. With that said, what are some other uses for a disconnected Hero?
BTW - I'm running CyanogenMod7 rc4. And before you mention it, I know the stable release is out. I'll get around to it... eventually.
I use mine as a remote for my XMBC media player ( converted acer revo ) I can view all my media and tv shows etc on the hero's screen.. its nice..

I have an old deactivated one that I use for mostly a music player / newsreader / game player on the road. It also occasionally functions as a remote for my PC/TV and a testbed for ROMs that I don't want to flash on my new Hero. (The old one got dropped in the snow and the speaker no longer works; though the headphone jack works fine... hence the replacement).
I have thought about getting a VoIP client set up on it (not sure if Google Voice would work with a deactivated phone or not) to use as a "home phone".
It does seem like a shame, though, huh? All that wasted glory.

I just use mine for music. I found that the Hero doesn't work well as a gaming device since it lacks a decent GPU, and reading is fairly difficult, especially now that I'm use to to the Epic. In speaking of test beds, do you have any ROM recommendations for me? I'm looking for something lightweight; just for music, and a back-up phone.

That would be a great idea! I'll look into it. The Hero was great while it lasted. The perfect alternative to the iPhone that wasn't buggy as hell *cough, cough**Moment!**cough*

The gingerbread ROM builds started out as awesome and have only gotten better. I run aosp's 3/26 build with the s0be 2.6.35 #5 kernel on both of my Hero's and it is a million times snappier and stable than stock ever was. The 3/26 build is very small and let's you choose which Google apps to install, so it can be kept pretty lean.
Otherwise I'll just flash a new ROM on the old one first to test it out before putting it on my new one.

Yeah yeah yeah... I should upgrade. I really should.
Another suggestion for music; if you're short on sd card space and will have WiFi access with your Hero, check out Subsonic music streamer. It lets you stream your music through the web and they have an Android app.

That's a sweet idea and thanks for the app too. Hopefully the EVO 3d doesn't use too much of my SD card memory but ill keep my hero for experimental purposes. Because I plan on learning how to fully theme Roms this summer , so the Hero will be a good experimenting phone.

[Q] New Music App

Has anyone tried installing the new music app? Its telling me my device isn't compatible. Stock the hero isn't (requires 2.2+) but I'm running cm7 (2.3), and I'm in the US. What else could it be?
worked fine for me. just installed it using the link you posted
running cm7 as well
I'm having trouble installing it as well.
I figured it out. It requires OpenGL 2.0+. You can do the build.prop trick to set your opengl version to 131072 and it will install after a reboot.
Oh, the build.prop trick. That's a love/hate relationship right there. Doesn't seem to work for me despite some users having success over at the CM forum.
Using CM7.03
Edit: After 3 hours of this post, it randomly showed up as downloadable on my Market. I guess the build.prop edit worked. Thanks for the tip, maxpower.
Installed it on CM7. There is no settings option I can see to allow streaming.
works...
It installed and works fine on my Hero (CM7.0.3). Not sure that I'm a fan yet, but it works. It would probably be better if i had a beta invite for Google Music.
Yea, the Amazon mp3 app can store music I buy in the cloud. I tried it out, and what I found was I never listened to that music and I've since just downloaded it to my phone and/or computer. This will have an appeal but I own tens of thousands of songs. I'm not gonna upload them or buy them again just so they're in the cloud.
~maybe I set it too high...
